We were in the area and hungry... Yelp found this place for us and it earned every star! Â We had the Red, White & Bleu Burger and the Turkey Reuben. Â Both were outstanding! Â Service was quick and friendly, and if we ever found ourselves near Manchester again, it will be the first place we stop!
Side note... since we were traveling, we didn't partake, but I wanted to mention that they have a pretty decent selection of local craft (bottled) beer available. Â It was a nice surprise to see!
I was in Vermont for a wedding and I found this place on Yelp. Â My experience had elements of all five stars so I give it three stars and the following explanation. Â
Let's start with the waitress...Maybe she was having a bad day but she did not seem to want to talk to us. Â I think it was pretty clear we were from out of town but she offered no menu highlights or guidance which would be helpful in a local place like this. Â And considering they usually do that at Chili's or Applebee's, it was noticeably absent here. Â As a result, I missed out on house branded sodas which I didn't see until after my Coke had arrived. Â I also upgraded from chips to fries only to find out that the chips were homemade and delicious (My brother in law let me try one of his). Â There was also quite a bit of time between her table visits and she wasn't with other tables, she was mostly in the back. Â 1 star for service. Â
The food...I ordered a burger medium rare with some Vermont Cheddar as did my wife. Â The other two adults at the table ordered burgers medium. Â All four burgers came out north of medium and close to well done. Â Why did they ask us how we'd like them prepared? Â That's a big pet peeve for me. Â Don't ask if you're just going to do it how you want anyway. Â I must say though that the burger was pretty damn good despite being overcooked. Â And there were a number of interesting burger combinations offered on the menu which I always appreciate. Â 4 stars for food and menu.
The setting was pretty cool. Â It has a ski lodge kind of look but it could have been cleaner. Â It definitely could have been cleaner after we left as the two and four year olds in our party did their usual cookie monster routine with their food. 3 stars for the setting.
It wasn't outrageously expensive but it wasn't cheap either. Â I guess that's par for the course in a resort town. Â 2 stars for quality.
There's plenty of parking so I guess they get 5 stars for that. Â My Grandpop always loved ample parking. Â
It wasn't bad and my lunch companions did not feel that I'd steered them wrong but if I ever do return to this corner of the earth, I will hop on Yelp and try someplace else.
Zoey's is likely my new go-to spot in Southern VT. Their friendly service and authentic wholesome food really won me over. Whether it was being accommodated with a preparation of a dinner item (mac+cheese) during lunch hours, tasty open-faced sandwiches and burgers, or (appropriately)-attentive service, I never thought I was being overcharged or short-changed at all, as my entire group left full and satisfied. Definitely one of the best in the area.
Review Source:Great restaurant recommended by our hotel owners. Decent prices. The inside felt very much like a country family place, almost like a diner. The food was pretty outstanding. Stopped in for lunch and had a great burger using all VT ingredients. Stopped once more for dinner and had the maple glazed chicken which was great and exactly what I was looking for. I also tried the tuna salad and bread pudding for dessert which both were good as well.
Review Source:Food was okay, service was good. Â Would have appreciated more fresh, organic options on the menu but we can't all be awesome can we?
Settled on chicken pot pie 'cause I was hungrygirl.
Really not bad for this area as I don't think this part of Vermont has the best food, in my experience. Â The farther north you head, the better everything seems to be.
Good food, friendly staff, quite quick service. I had a roasted veggie salad, which was delish! My older kids had adult size pasta, which were quite big portion. My little one had kids Mac and cheese. The portion was good for her, who is a 4-year-old, but wouldn't have, for our 11-year-old. Over all, very satisfactory! Would come back again.
Review Source:My wife and I had the Hex Onion Strings to start. The appetizer was HUGE! We had to stop eating to make sure we could eat our entree. I can't remember the name of the entree I got but it was a burger with pepper jack cheese, some spicy sauce and jalapeno poppers on top. It was AMAZING! You definitely get your money's worth!
Review Source:After a day of snowboarding, this hit the spot perfectly. Â The portions offer both quality and quantity, and the price was extremely fair for what you are given (each dish was a hair under 10 dollars). Â Our table had mostly sandwiches, and my little bro had the corned beef - a special offered for St Patty's. Â They claim to have fresh bread, which was a huge plus. Meaty slices of bread were toasted perfectly and offered a nice contrast to the sauerkraut and pastrami in my reuben. Â Bummed a few bites from my brother's plate, corn beef was delicious. Â Forget the knife, all i needed was the side of my fork to cut. Â Had a good selection of beers too, this is all American comfort food and does a great job at it. Â I'd give this place another star if they offered hammocks or a bed for me to nap after my meal. Â Decor was nice and cozy, very inviting.
For a hearty, well priced, can't-help-but-be-gluttonous meal, give this place a go!
So, we were up in Manchester for some shopping today  and decided to stop in here based on the other reviews here on Yelp. We got there about 12:30 and the place was fairly busy. There was a 10 or 15 minute wait for a table. The staff was friendly and attentive.
The wife ordered the a BLT on the oat bread and I a grilled turkey, bacon and cheddar on white of the daily specials menu.
The problem overall with both sandwiches was the bread. These folks also run a bakery and I'm guessing they bake and hand cut it themselves. And that right there is the problem. When cutting bread by hand you are never going to get the slices  exactly even or exactly the same size but they should at least be in the same neighborhood. And they should never overwhelm whatever you are putting between the slices. But that is exactly what is happening here.
One slice of my bread had to be over a half inch thick at one end and the other slice, while not quite as bad, was pretty think as well. The result was that the sandwich contents, which would have likely been pretty good on normal slices, was completely lost between these ridiculously thick slice of bread.
The end result was that we were left peeling away as much of the bread as we could to taste the actual BLT and Turkey, cheese and bacon, which was pretty good when you could taste it.
My wife ordered hers with the house "chips" and popped for the extra buck and got the steak fries. I was not impressed with the chips. They were over cooked and a tad greasy. The fries on the other hand were quite good. they were crispy and not undercooked as they often are in many places. My only real complaint with them is that despite charging an extra dollar for them, they were still a bit stingy with them.
The bottom line is that I think we'll probably give the place a pass on future visits to town.
We found this little country gem while on a ski trip to Vermont. Â Three of us stopped in for lunch. Â They have huge sandwiches served with homemade potato chips, mmm mmm good! Â I had the chicken salad which was good. Â My daughter had the hot open faced turkey sandwich, complete with cranberry sauce and stuffing! Â Yummy! Â They also had a few vegetarian options, one of which my hubby had and liked. Â I saw the waitress delivering a burger to another customer - this thing had to be 8 inches high! It had onion rings and etc. stacked between the buns. Â Now I wanna go back and try the burgers! Â This place was clean and cozy - like a little country diner. Â The iced tea was good too. Â
The service was fine - although our waitress had no personality. Â We did have to wait 5 minutes to be seated, but I guess this speaks to the popularity of the place!
First, get the Birch Beer. Yum! Â All of the food was great, I had the Mac and Cheese which had white vermont cheddar on it and virginia ham. Delicious! Â My wife had the fish special of the day and enjoyed it as well. Great portion sizes, neither of us finished our meal, and that's extremely rare for me!
Very country feel to it. It was nice to get out of downtown Manchester and eat here.
Went to dinner last night with my wife and 11 yr old son. Â It was my wifes Birthday and we went for the Prime Rib. Â It took 10 minutes before the waitress even came to the table for a drink order. Â My wife not a Pepsi Fan made a face at the choice and the waitress got surly and said well I don't have to bring you a drink then. Â She was not a nice woman. Â My son ordered the Holy Moly Burger which was over a foot high, which she never mentioned. Â The food was good, great portions. Â Never during our meal did she come back and at the end of the meal again, very slow. She did not even come and get the check or deliver it back. Â You have good food, get some good servers.
Review Source:Great burger and beer selection. We ended up here thanks to the recommendation of a guy that works at the Eastern Mountain Sports down the street. The burgers were all good and there were lots of varieties. Â The coleslaw went great with the burger, and they also have a good beer selection. Â All five of us had burgers so unfortunately I don't have anything else to say about the menu. Enjoy!
Review Source:It's unusual to find a restaurant that does seared tuna as well as it does burgers, but this place managed it. Â Menu is VERY moderately priced (really, where can you get wine, appetizers, entrees, dessert and coffee for $60?? Â Nowhere I've ever lived, I'll tell you that.), and everything we had was seriously delicious. Â The wine selection leaves much to be desired, but really, who can complain when they bill themselves as "country food." Â Service was a little odd- not rude, just, well- "odd." Â Like where you think to yourself, "Hey, not all of us have natural charm, I get it, but can you please stop being so damn awkward?" Â Seriously though , stop here next time you're in town. Â You'll leave happy, I promise.
Review Source:I called a friend of mine who's a vermonter to find some place for lunch in Manchester. She suggested getting sandwiches from the deli of the same name but I knew that the husband would want to sit and have a beer so we decided to stop here.
Husband ordered a roast beef sandwich and a long trail and I ordered a half a turkey sandwich and a cup of corn chowder. I'm pretty fussy about sandwiches and these were outstanding, everything was fresh and the bread was to die for. I would have bought some to bring home if they'd had it.
It would have been five stars except for the service - just a little slow - not horrible - but not five star.
We finally tried Zoey's Double Hex on our last visit to Manchester earlier this week. After being disappointed by local restaurants during another recent trip to Southern Vermont, we were more than pleasantly surprised by Zoey's.
Everything we had was delicious... my herb-rubbed, roasted half chicken was moist and very flavorful, the accompanying sides were yummy (stuffing and steak fries were great, and the garden side salad was fresh and lovely. And was topped with the most orgasmic herb ranch dressing I've ever had. Can ranch dressing be orgasmic? Yes, yes it can.)
Dan reports that his burger was "the best he's had in Vermont", which is saying a mouthful, since he orders a burger everywhere we go. It did look really good; fat and juicy, nice roll, cooked perfectly. The kid had buffalo fingers which were not nearly spicy enough for her, but they were tender and flavorful. (Oh! We started with onion strings and onion rings... because God forbid we decide between the two. :oP The onion strings were fried heaven, but the rings were a bit greasy and heavy. The debate between rings and strings rages on between Dan and the kid...)
The service was very sweet and helpful, but very slow, as others have mentioned. A solid four stars for now, and we'll definitely be back next trip! (A note... Really great option for families, as this restaurant serves great family-friendly favorites, at somewhat significantly lower prices than most area restaurants.)
Decent menu. Excellent burgers and thick, crispy steak fries. Burgers are big here. If you're of burger folk do yourself a favor, order the BBQ burger: Burger w/ bbq sauce, bacon and crispy onions and get the steak fries. Smile pretty because you'll have burger face. Baby, baby, baby. Have fun!
Review Source:This is the first time we've come to the restaurant rather than the deli of the same name/owners nearer town center. We really liked the deli. Now we really like the restaurant too. Similar menu ... more hot stuff (burgers, chili) and salads, and not quite as many deli sandwich selections. Same large portions. And same quality ingredients and preparation.
The only possible issue is the speed of the service, which can be a bit slow - a comment we've also heard from others who have been here a lot.
Recommended.
Tasty place to go on your way to Stratton Mountain Resort. Â First of all, it's half the price of the restaurants in the resort's village and the food is 10x better than what you can get up there. So if you're driving from NYC, stop by this place and refuel before checking in. Â
Also a great place to go after outlet shopping. Â
Had the burgers, really yummy! Â Coleslaw homemade, yummy as well...
