Would it surprise in Passyunk East or Fairmout or Fishtown's bustling gastropub landscape? Not by a longshot. Is it best beer bar in Landsdown? Probably. Bottom line: three stars in the 'burbs, one in Philly. So this is a compromise.

Went here for dinner and had the special burger (canadian bacon, Angus beef, lettuce, tomatoe and some imported cheese). Asked for medium rare, got medium (the usual for me, to be honest--can't seem to ever get around it). Burger was passable (and had a great charcoal taste), and fries would have done better to be handcut.

Beer selection was great. I had a delicious Blue Point Rastafarye and Sixpoint 3Beans (Baltic Porter). Both lovely. My friend ordered an IPA and received something that wasn't an IPA (tasted murkey, seasoned, and --it was a mistake and I am 100 percent certain of it--but we didn't get the acknowledgment or the actual beer in return. (But the barkeep was really great otherwise, to be honest.)

After a horrible experience at Miller's Ale House, our party of four made our way to 2312.  This is a place I've know about for some time having lived near by when it was the Friendly Tavern.  It's gone through a number of names and styles, but this time I believe they got it right.  Seats at the bar were immediatley available and the Flyers were on the couple of TV's tastefully placed around the room.  Dim lighting, and a modern design was warm and comfortable.  The bar staff was attentive and knowledgeable about the very nice draft list that was written on chalk boards behind the bar. Drinks in hand, we ordered a Flatbread special with Chorizo sausage, peppers and chunky tomatoes and a tastey cheese.  Large slices of sausage, lots of flavor, but the flatbread could have been crisper.  Dinner were a very appetizing Grilled Cheese and Bacon sandwich, a Black Bean Burger that was large, moist and delicious.  Our friends enjoyed a some Chicken Fingers, to many to finish, and a large plate of well prepared grilled Brussel Sprouts.  Fish and chips was the choice for our friend and smiles were evidence that all enjoyed their meal.  Around 9PM, live music was performed by Griz.  With an acoustic guitar and a great voice, we sang along to some great covers from The Beatles to Paul Simon and others.
2312 Garrett is a wonderful addition to a mostly barren dining experience in the Drexel Hill area.  Very Good food, a nice rotating draft list and a happy, attentive wait staff make this a place we will return to soon.

Have visited many times, good food and good friendly service. We have never had a bad meal from here and the relaxed atmosphere is very nice. A must try...

Like many, I drove by 2312 many time and never noticed it.  A friend mentioned it to me several years ago and I've been frequency it ever since.  The food is great, including the recent changes and additions to the menu.  You won't find this beer selection anywhere else in the area.  I have even met some customers who drive out from Philly for the very reasonable beer prices.  All the bartenders are very knowledgeable about their beer (something you don't often see in Delco). One warning though, a vodka club soda was quite expense but this isn't the type of place that you'd normally come to for vodka.

Yes this is truly a GEM tucked away on Garrett Rd. that I and I am sure everyone else has driven by in their time. I admit it, I did it, I confess I am that guy to have driven by without even giving them a chance. If it wasn't for an invite  by everyones fan favorite "Yelper" Steven B. I would still  to this day be driving by this place .

Great atmosphere, a comfortable feeling as you walk in with ample seating in the dining area. The decor is placed in the perfect spots with the flat screens  arranged so you can never miss a step. The juke box on the wall blends in perfectly with the bar, giving a little more added color. Then there is that beautiful list, yes the list we all know as the crafted beers on tap. Strategically placed so you can see at every vantage point what is on tap next to the fine selections of liquor for those who like that extra octane. Plus, (yes I know there is more to this fine place) the two guys behind that bar Vince and Mark are reliable, these guys interact with the patrons offering their insight on issues.

That right there is a comfort, because I have been to a few bars where they just pour and walk  while looking for that tip. Vince and I along with Steven were doing "Bar trivia "  most taps in the delco area, or what place offers pizza and a beer in Havertown, and with out hesitation Vince calls us out on other trivia. That's what you'll experience , which turns you into a repeat.

We are not finished, lets get into the kitchen that this bar offers, and yes  I would have loved to have given this guy a high five. The presentation , flavor, to that first bite of just an explosion of flavor hitting the taste buds like a balloon to a needle types. I love food and when something just amazes you like this, words can't be expressed, just facial expressions of joy come out.

Started off with a bacon and cheese dip with toasted baguette bread sliced surrounding this lovely dish. I love bacon , now they made a dip blended with cheese that is hot, mouth watering people.. simply delicious.

I then furthered my adventure with the "Italiano cheese burger" . This  is a perfect blend of Italian sausage mixed with beef topped with cheese, along with a slice of prosciutto on top cooked to a medium. AMAZING !!  The sausage blended in with every bite  was like angels singing Hallelujah with harps in the back.

My partner in crime Steve went with a chicken and chorizo flat bread with melted cheese. I had the honor of trying this masterpiece.. this work of art, the chicken with nice cuts of chorizo , had an amazing kick to it. Flavorful, enjoyable I was torn between my excellent cheese burger that I did not want to give up, to Steve's flat bread. Both are great , now I am wondering if these 3 items are that good, I wonder how these other meals are. With every bite I was washing it down with great crafts, from a Lancaster winter ale to now a fan favorite Pa. St. Nicholas Bock.

In all this whole experience was unbelievable, great conversations, great company, great food. Thank you Steve for making me stop in to this fine establishment.

Solid 4 on my end !

Having visited a few times, I feel ready to talk about 2312 Garrett.  Star reviews are so deceptive, so I hope I can garner enough attention with my opening lines that prospective diners read on and get the full dynamic of my impression of the place.

I lived two blocks away from this place for about a year ... about 24 years ago.  If 2312 had existed then, I would have likely moved in.  There is nothing in the area that even comes close to the level of dining/drinking one can find here.  The space can easily be described as upscale casual (at least for delco) and the atmosphere is inviting and comfortable.  There are basically two rooms ... the bar (complete with tvs and hightops,) and the dining room (which is a bit quieter and offers a small area in the back for larger groups, office parties, etc ...)

They have a very nice beer menu with a couple of dozen taps, and the wine and spirits are very competitive with any local bar ... in quality and price.  I have actually had a few nice surprises in the wine offerings, but I have no idea how often the bar changes these out, so I will just mention, in passing, that the stock seems a bit above the average here.

Food ... they're going for a bit more than average bar fare here.  Flat breads, Truffle mac and cheese, shrimp tacos, lamb burgers are a few offerings.  I've been mostly pleased, but not everything is a hit.  The Chipotle Chicken sandwich is outstanding, as is the hot bacon and cheddar dip.  The burgers are also excellent (not tried the lamb, but I would be surprised if that wasn't also stellar.)  But there are also misses ... against my better judgment, I ordered the crabcake sandwich (only after asking about it and being told it was exceptional, made in house, etc ) ... total disappointment.  Not sure if there was crab in there and even the filler was bland.  I should never second guess myself.

Old bay fries are great, as are the in-house fried chips.  Accompanying sides and garnishes are obviously fresh and well-prepared.  Desserts (limited menu) have been nothing to write home about.

Service can be spotty, even when they are not busy, but no real flubs.  I will be heading back a few more times to see how things change over time.  Definitely worth a visit, but don't think of it as a cheap night ... a few drinks, and a full meal will set you back $80 for two.

I had the chipotle chicken sandwich, which was delicious but on the pricy side for a suburb joint. Garlic wings were bland, but okay. Overall, the food was very good but the service was mediocre.

Great food, great rotating beer selection, reasonable prices, friendly staff, awesome fish and chips. What more could you ask for?

Their menu is small, but that bodes well with me. They're not trying to meddle with dishes they shouldn't be meddling with. It's just your standard bar food, bumped up a notch. But back to those fish and chips... The fish was so flavorful, the breading perfectly crispy and not too thick, not too thin. Yum!!

If you live in or around Delco I'm betting you've missed this place and that would be your loss! These folks place themselves right between a dive bar and a gastro pub and you'll likely to be very comfortable here.

I've been here a few times and tried both the libations and the food. Regarding beer: they have about a dozen taps and do a nice job with the variety. If you are a beer aficionado, chat with Vince. He knows his beer.

If you're looking for comfort food try their Truffle Mac & Cheese ($8.50). It's savory and delicious. These folks also do a Sunday served brunch. The menu is limited but tasty. I tried the Breakfast Burger ($10). It was cooked to order with bacon, cheese and a fried egg and served on an excellent LeBus bun. There were home fries on the side and it also came with a warm cinnamon bun.

If you want to sit at the bar and chat with a supurb bartender, stop by on Thursday nights. "Ace" will engage you with great conversation and he makes a mean drink.

There are plenty of bars in the area but these folks are truly worth a visit.

We do enjoy this little neighborhood bar. Everything we have tried from the limited menu has been very good. We would eat here more often if the menu were larger and more varied. Service is friendly and generally pretty good, though it can be inconsistent. The homemade chips are delicious!  Not big beer drinkers so also would appreciate more wines by the glass.

A great bar in the Upper Darby/Southern Delco area.  It's in an out-of the way area off of Lansdowne Ave, and if you don't know it's there, you may just drive right by it.  Inside is modern, but not uber-hip, smoke-free, and has a few tv's around.

Good beer selection of micro's on tap.  They also have a good variety of food, with both standard pub food, and a few other interesting items on the menu.  Good variety of vegetarian foods.  If you're in the area it's a good choice for food & drinks.  Only knock on them is they don't open till 4 o'clock.

Amazing gem in Delco.  Great beer selection picked by a buyer who is a true beer fan.  Clean, good food, not super bright, a nice atmosphere.  Great jukebox and  insanely friendly bar tenders who not only remember your name but also recommend great beers.    The owner is also a really nice, personable guy.  This bar kicks Upper Darby / Lansdowne / Drexel Hill area up a few notches.
Bottom line, this bar can compete with ANY bar in Philly.  And actually beat most of them.  GO!

The staff at 2312 are very friendly and helpful.
The Boulder Sweaty Betty Blonde  beer suggested by Chrissy was a great choice.
We chose the Corn and Blueberry Salad for an appetizer and sent our complements to the chef.
I had the Goat Cheese Stuffed Lamb Berger which was outstanding and my better half had the Build Your Own Burger which was also excellent.

We look forward to our next visit.

I have been here dozens of times. I did a review on Google, but now that I am using yelp too, I thought I'd add one here. I come here regularly with my girlfriend--she isn't a beer drinker--she thinks the martinis here are superb. I like the beer selection, but I really like the food. I have had most everything on the menu from chicken fingers, to very good burgers, to the specials ranging from spicy gumbos (that are really spicy) to stews that put my mother's beef stew to shame!

I usually come before the big crowds, but I am really happy that there is a place in the neighborhood that is as good as the Center City bars.

One thing: bring back the burger of the month! Especially the coffee burger--yep! That was the best one ever.

I do agree with someone else's review on here: the waitstaff (not the bartenders) should know the beers. In fact, they might need more wait staff!

I hope they keep their hip-yet-family-run style, however. I always see the owner and his sister there.

    Thanks!

I had no idea what to expect as i don't know the area. I needed a good place to get food and micro brews before a concert at Tower Theater. This place hit the spot. the food was excellent. My husband had a very tasty burger and i had a portabello mushroom sandwhich which also very tasty. The micro beer selection was  wonderful. We were able to sit at a lovely table in the big bay window. If i lived in the area - i would go here very often!

I HATE that I have to write this review, because I really loved this place and wanted to keep loving it.  I think that's what makes this so bad for me.  I once raved about this place and now I'm embarrassed that I recommended it to friends.  I also hate complaining at restaurants and RARELY do it, but there were so many problems this time... we all agreed we had to speak up.

We went for a friend's birthday, and let me just say, we feel so bad that her birthday dinner was ruined here, that we are probably going to take her out again for a birthday re-do.  Our waitress was unable to describe any of the beers, and I was really hoping to explore the extensive beer selection.  When I finally did ask for my favorite, the Ithaca Apricot Wheat, I was told they were all out.  Every time I come here, that is what I order, so I was kind of lost.  I just think that is a major no-no for a place that is supposed to be known for its extensive beer menu.

We waited for our food for over an hour, and other tables around us who had arrived after we did seemed to get their food right away!  We were only a table of 4. Our waitress blamed this on an 8-top table nearby, but I think there was definitely something wrong because I've come here before with a larger party and had better service. Did she forget to put our order in?  Did the kitchen screw up? At one point, she said "I can't control which slips they pick up first in the kitchen" OK, then maybe that's a problem...

When our food finally did arrive, I was given the wrong burger.  There was no bacon on it, as I had ordered it.  When I asked about it, the waitress said "The cook has assured me that there IS definitely bacon on that burger"  And I responded "Well, would you like to bring it back to him and show him, because there isn't?"  I felt like they didn't believe me or something and I was talked to like I was a child.  I did not appreciate the condescending tone.

My mom ordered the chicken fingers, we thought that would be a safe bet.  Somehow they managed to screw it up!  The chicken was so tough and chewy it was hard to eat.  The "honey mustard" she asked for was so spicy she almost choked.  We asked, "Is this really honey mustard?" And our waitress said "Oh yeah, we use a spicy mustard to make it."  It would have been a good idea to let the customer know that information BEFORE ordering/choking on it.  Honey mustard is usually a sweet and mild sauce.

I wish the bad news stopped there, but the night continued on its downward spiral.  Instead of asking us if we wanted dessert (we did) she took it upon herself to bring out a chocolate torte for my friend's birthday.  She said, "this is on the house, sorry for the wait" and then emphasized, "Dessert is on the house, but only for YOU" (to the birthday girl)   It seemed weird because we ALL had to sit there and wait, and 2 of us had been given either the wrong order or poor quality order... so why didn't we get a dessert?  We felt like this was poor customer service, especially the way she talked to us.  We asked for the carrot cake anyway, to which she replied "Oh we're all out" - So what was the point of telling us all the desserts if all they had was the chocolate torte??

My friend asked if she could have a fork for the torte, and the waitress said "But I gave you a SPOON, see!"   I don't understand why she couldn't have a fork, and why she had to answer her like that.

Both our waitress and another waitress hovered around our table picking up silverware and water glasses even though we were not finished.  Then, another waitress insisted we let her bring us more water after we said "no thank you" - at that point we wanted to get out of there.

On the way out, we stopped in the bathroom, and the water was scalding hot - leaving red marks!  It was also hard to turn on.  We left laughing about how doomed the night seemed to be, but everyone agreed we would never be back.My friend also asked to have her leftovers wrapped up, but it took so long for our waitress to get the box, that we ended up leaving without it.  We think she must have just forgot that too.

I feel so sad about it, because I really did love this place.  After this experience though, I don't think I can try this place again.  There were just too many things that went wrong:  out of beer, out of dessert, very poor customer service, wrong food order, and a super-long wait.

Also, the manager/owner used to always be there and come around when I've been there in the past, but not this time.  He wasn't there at all.  I'm wondering if that is why people slacked off??  I hope whatever the problem is, they get it fixed soon.

Really 3.5 stars, but I'm feeling generous because there's no other bar nearby in upper Darby/ Drexel hill area this upscale with great food and micro brew beer selections.

The fried goat cheese appetizer is my favorite. The black bean burger is awesome. So is the goat cheese n cranberry salad. Was dissappointed with the cheesecake. But all other food was great. Good beer selection, but not great like center city places. Several draft selections, unfortunately nothing I like ( Belgian or German wheats) except the over-rated franziskanaer. But there's a lot of other choices for beer lovers who aren't as picky as me. Overall, great place, and I go here often.

Hard to believe you can find great gastropub food in the culinary desert of Delco, but here it is. The truffle mac and cheese is superb, the burgers were perfect and the homemade potato chips were pretty spectacular. (Try the soups.)

The only complaint I had was that the dining room was a little cold. (hint, hint) Other than that, a dining experience equal to anything in my favorite Fishtown pubs.

We had our company Xmas dinner here recently, after I had attended an event here and others had heard great reviews. Our party was welcomed and made comfortable by the staff. We were quickly told the specials and brought waters. All orders came out timed well, and the food was enjoyed.

Personally I tried the fried goat cheese which I had before, it was still outstanding. Not overly greasy, and the cranberry sauce really adds a great dimension to it. I also had the black bean burger which was ok. Not my first choice and not best veggie burger ever, but it the flavors were good. It had a little spice but nothing overpowering. The potato chips that come with it are outstanding and worth the trip to the bar by themselves. They are fresh made, salty and sweet with a hint of something else I can't place. I will def be ordering them again!

For the most part our group had burgers and sandwiches. It seemed like people liked them and they were cooked as ordered. In the future I think our group will order less appetizers since over half couldn't finish their meal. The special mussels in sixpoint sweet action were also a hit.

They have a good draft selection, although something a little lighter would be appreciated since it was mostly darker seasonal brews.

They always have a great selection of craft beer available and a food special. Their food is good but a little over priced. However, the beer is very reasonably priced so it makes up for it.

If you like craft beer, this is the place to go.

Really great local bar. The owner knew my name the second time I walked through the door.  They always have some great micro-brews on tap, always something new to try. The staff is always  friendly and welcoming.

The food is great, I was really blown away with the Fish and Chips, huge portions done to perfection. It is the kind of bar that you pop your head into for "A BEER"  on a dark and stormy night, but end up staying because  it such a nice hang. Since I live in Lansdowne, a dry town, this place is a life saver.

Really nice place for where it is in Delco. The place is clean and nice. Bartender was sweet and accommodating. The beers they had on tap were not that impressive but the bartender was nice about letting us sample before making a decision. The crowd was pretty local. Mostly made up of Bonner/Prendie/UD grads. The funny thing was that they varied in age from I'd say early twenties to early 50s. Totally prefer this place to many others in the area. Would probably go 3.5 stars in reality.
P.S. Bring dollar bills for the jukebox or plan on suffering at the poor taste of others in the bar.

I've been to 2312 three times in the last 8 weeks, and as far as the food is concerned, I've had two really excellent experiences and one good one. As far as the owner is concerned, I've been treated exceptionally well every time, even last night when my party showed up just a few minutes before the kitchen was set to close. They seated us in the dining area (which they had been preparing to close), they kept the kitchen staff around, and they were incredibly pleasant about the whole thing. We tried to order quickly to minimize the intrusion, but we couldn't have been made to feel more comfortable. Note, though, that Sunday night kitchen hours end at 9 p.m. (we didn't know that ahead of time). My first trip there, the waitress was rather surly and inattentive, but that has proven to be the exception, and everyone else has been very friendly and helpful. Also, it's so nice to have good food and great beers at a reasonable price close to home! The options used to be settling for cheap, mediocre takeout or pizza, an incredible-but-big-money meal at Sycamore, or trek to the city. Now, if I don't feel like cooking or if I want a snack and a beer on a weeknight, I can head here. The menu is small but has variety, the dishes are creative and tasty (and the simple standards are done well), and the rotating specials always sound good. Vegetarian options are present, and pretty good overall. I'm glad to have 2312 around.

    very cool.
Lots of good microbrews. They have a good selection of

have a few of each. They actually have Franziskaner which is unheard
of in these parts.  Food is good too.

    Pros:

    - Nice selection of beers on tap.  Not your standard bud/bud lite/coors light kind of place.
    - Interesting bar menu - definitely more options than your typical DelCo bar.
    - Cheap specials during the Eagles game.  $2 Yuengling drafts cannot be beat.
    - Clean, huge bar.  In fact the whole place was squeaky clean.

    Cons:

    - Refilled my beer in the same glass.  I would understand if it were packed and glassware was low, but it wasn't.
    - Lager was flat.  There was a problem with the line apparently.
    - Not a fan of the cheese fry sauce.  It needs to go asap.

I will definitely give this place another shot...maybe order some real food and venture into the more adventurous tap selections.

Went in for the eagles - lions game today.  Decided to try it for the 2 dollar lagers.
    1.  The beer was flat.
    2.  The cheese for the fries was like water. Seriously, skin on top, rest like runny water.
    3.  There were 4 customers in the place and rather then keep our beers fresh, the bartender stocked the chests with bottles of beer for the other non-existent customers.
    4.  Once again, 4 people in the bar and the guy was re-using our glasses, not giving fresh frosted ones. I can somewhat forgive this practice when the bar is crowded, but 4 customers, come on.
    5. They say to come in for the game, and while they have HD TV's, they don't get HD channels.

I finally had enough and left with a beer 80 percent full.

We stopped by on a Friday evening around 8:00 p.m. There was enough room for the 3 of us to sit by the bar area or in the restaurant area. We sat by the bar so we could watch the Eagles game. (Definitely a great place to hang out and watch Eagles games.) Very friendly staff, who recommended beers based on our preferences. We tried the pasta primavera, pulled pork and cobb salad and all the items were tasty but the portions were small. Overall a great addition to the Lansdowne/ Drexel Hill area.
