I've been taking Wednesday Capoeira classes here for about a year. Jadson and Alice are great teachers with legit knowledge and skills from the source [Brazil]... I originally just tought I would go until my coupn ran out, but I've since bought 20 more classes... and don't regret it one bit! As mentioned before, Capoeira is a great workout for core, quads, back, abs, etc, and makes your feet tougher [from blisters]! They've also taken time to teach music, songs, and the culture behind Capoeira. Dawi, the owner, keeps the place in good order, clean, aesthetically pleasing, and apparently has invested in some big visions given the recent expansion construction in the back! The Lake Meritt community is truly blessed to have a place like Addis Habana!
Review Source:I love this studio. Â It's within walking distance from my apartment, the owners are pleasant and flexible folks, art always adorns the walls, and none of the surfaces are ever dirty. Â
Additionally, Tanya's zumba classes are the absolute best. Â Everyone should try them at least once. Â They become addictive, so you may want to consider buying a discounted class card.
Tanya Leake's Zumba class defies description! Â She is energetic, creative and welcoming. Â An hour of hard work feels like an hour of fun--truly amazing. Â You can imagine that at 69 I can't move like the 20 year olds, but with Tanya it doesn't make any difference - she makes sure everyone has fun and is pushed to her own limits. Â I love working out with her - she is something special!
Review Source:I absolutely love the Saturday afternoon Capoeira class - Helio worked muscles that I didn't even know existed. Â I definitely was sore a few days afterwards, but felt amazing! Â Gotta check out the Zumba & Hip Hop classes as well...the area is always poppin on the weekends so one can definitely feel the energy of the Lake Merritt neighborhood!
Review Source:I have only been to Addis to take Yoga classes with Wendy. I love her! The studio is new so classes are small, but it means much more personal attention. Wendy's classes are fun and laid-back while still being challenging. Unlike a lot of other yoga studios, Wendy is not intimidating and no one cares what you are wearing. You will get a serious work out, without being overly serious crowd. Plus, she always plays some fun music which helps to lighten the mood!
