It's not closed.  It reopened as Binni & Flynns. Whoever thought it was a good idea was right.  Was just there and the bar was crowded, food good and price point even better.  I love the new decor.  Is a winner. Finally.  I've been pulling for this place.
The catering is still the same. Aneu catering and events I think.  I hope it lasts.  It's right in my neighborhood.

    -- CLOSED --

Now a gringoized Tex -Mex restaurant run by Aneu's management. Don't know why they thought this was a good idea!

Cozy-elegant rustic atmosphere, low noise level, delicious juicy thick pork chop with buttery root vege hash and doting but brisk service. And at the last minute on Xmas eve, what a find.  The bill was a nice surprise too.

The lunch options here are very solid, with a nice selection of sandwiches and pastas.  My chicken salad with grapes and walnuts on wheat berry bread  was creamy, delicious, and refreshing, and the goat cheese and pine nuts ravioli in a cream sauce was a good indulgent lunch treat.  The pasta was tender and it came with plenty of accompanying spinach and sun-dried tomatoes; the sauce was very good but the truffle labor was only so slight.  We also split the truffle fries, which were crispy and fresh and pretty good, and the fried calamari, which was nicely seasoned and served with quick-sautéed peppers, onions, and zucchini slices.  It was crispy but the actual calamari was tender.  The staff here are very friendly and helpful, and prices are fair.  It came to ~$60 for everything, including tax, drinks, and tip.  Most sandwiches are about $10, and the pasta entrees are ~$15-18.  The apps are ~$6-10, depending on what you get.  A great place for a treat during your lunch break.  Will be back for dinner!

Attended a Christening brunch (large party, approx. 50 people) here last Sunday. We were greeted warmly and our drinks were served quickly. The butternut squash soup was flavorful and delicious. The crab and asparagus omelette was wonderful, and was served with thick, multi-grain toast and potatoes O'Brien. The potatoes were very tasty. Although we were a large party, drinks were refilled quickly.  The cake was superb- a moist, fluffy layer cake with raspberry curd filling and buttercream icing. My nephew said they get the cakes from Sweet Jazmine's. Lovely event.

Walked in post storm for a drop in dinner for three.  The decor is beautiful, service was very good and the food excellent.  The new chef Dave stopped by the table to say hello and check on our meal.  He couldn't have been more gracious. After dealing with no power the Kobe Meatloaf entire and  the Tower of Beat Salad appetizer could not have been better prepared.  Well done.

Had brunch with Mom and nephew today. Quite until the baby shower attendees start tramping through the restaurant, use the side entrance :( My omelette was over cooked and why should a "trendy" place deep fry home fries? No one should! Moms quiche was good, and the nephews granola pancakes were good

I went to Aneu last night bc I heard of the menu change.  Not disappointing.  The Aneu chicken is out of this world.  Nate was friendly, service was prompt,  as we will be back

Was there for lunch 2 weeks ago with a group. Service was horrendous, food was OK and bathroom trash was OVERFLOWING (and the trash can was a giant hamper). Probably my last visit

We visited for Thanksgiving dinner.  Made the traditional choices from the menu selection.  The food was perfectly prepared.  The service was great.  Altogether an enjoyable experience.  We will return.

Party of 11 - service was not good!  Even had a problem ordering a drink at the bar while waiting for others to arrive.  Service was very slow especially in bringing the entrees.  Food was o.k. - nowhere as good as the food under Meredith's.  Some of the items on the menu were not available.  Will not be going back again!

This is a wonderful restaurant outside the city. Very good service, great food and a nice atmosphere. Service is slow but well appreciated if you have time to relax. Be sure to try the onion rings.

Went back for the first time in almost a year and had a very good dinner.
Sat outside and had the mussels and duck spring rolls for starters, both were very good. Since we both had the bolognese , which was good, I can't comment on other entree's.  They allow personal wines at a corkage of $7 per bottle, which I think is reasonable, and the bill was only $82 with tax. So, value to price was very good, and would go back again.
Plenty of free parking and they take most plastic.
They also have a full bar and wine list if you don't want to BYO.

My brother & I were invited back after the manager had hired a new chef and really spruced up the menu. I tried the mojito and it was very good with extra lime & mint leaves, was somewhat dry but still a good mojito. We were still reluctant to try the calamari again but we both had the beet & arugula salad which was very well balanced and delicious. Instead of the veggie burger, I tried the veggie wrap with the hummus & feta. The fries were thinner, crispier than I remember which could have used more salt but I am not a huge fan of fries anyway. The veggies in my wrap were done just right in an antipasto-grilled style with a lot of flavor. My brother had the turkey burger of which he was very impressed. Our water never dry, our servers were friendly & attentive. Atmosphere was still Main-Linesque, elegant and well put together. We will definitely be returning to try more of their salads & sandwich options.

went here with another couple to catch up, and wanted to try a new (aneu haha forgive the pun!) place!  glad we chose this one, because it was great and we all enjoyed ourselves!

first off, the service was awesome!! i can't remember much about our server, except that we were never waiting for anything, never thirsty, and were promptly attended to at all times.

our food came out in a good time frame, just as we were about to chew off our arms, we were served bread and appetizers.  yum!!!! bruschetta and some sort of pork taco rollup things.  awesome.

after we finished, dishes were cleared, drinks were filled and we went back to chatting, until woe is us where is dinner- oh wait there it is, right on cue!!   we ordered the meatloaf, filet with truffle fries, gnocchi, and chicken breast.  all of our meals were finished from our plates, as we were enjoying every last drop of food.

one thing i did notice is that many of the items on the menu have truffle oil or truffles.... did they buy stock in truffle and try to find a way to use it in every dish??

after dinner, waitress asked for dessert and coffee (yes please!!) and we paid a big bill for something that was totally worth it.  a 3 course meal for 4 people for less than $200 is not *that* bad.

definitely a place worth checking out.  the decor is very very nice, it kind of has a modern/old world french feeling.

we did make reservations (which apparently wasnt necessary at 6:30pm) but the place filled up shortly after.  obviously other poeple got the memo that this place was pretty delish.

I thought this place looked good until I tried the food. The black bean soup came out cold. When I asked them if it was supposed to be cold, they took it back and heated it up. They did not apologize but the server said "I'll take it off the bill" quicker then I could tell him what was wrong. When the meal came the butterfish was way overcooked. The asparagus tasted like dirt. Before I could even tell him what was wrong, the server said "I'll take it off the bill!" The fish left an extremely bad smell. The steak came with fries and spinach. The fries were covered in a sauce which defeats the point of crispy fries. The spinach tasted dirty as well! Had food poisoning the rest of the evening! The food makes you sick! DO NOT GO!

Just had a very expensive uninspired meal. Ordered the valentine day dinner, lousy. Fish portion was so small I could have hid it under my fork. I had to send it back because it was cold. The lamb was not flavorful and the sides included the ingredients of the previous courses on the menu.
The service was slow but the people were nice.
The room is very nice. If they could get the kitchen to produce food that tastes as good as the restaurant looks they would have a great place, until then I will pass on it.

Been here for lunch twice recently, service was attentive without being in your face, food was well cooked and seating is generous, table not on top of each other that allow for pleasant conversation without feeling the table next to you is listening to everything you say. Black and blue burger is tasty and cooked to order, fried are delicious. Friends had the wrap, plenty of food, and the special sandwich of the day on foccia bread, nice and soft and again generous portion with a nice salad to go with it.
Decor has changed a little recently, but has a nice atmosphere and is good for a romantic meal or a business meeting.

Awesome restaurant with good - really, excellent - not outstanding, service, and exquisite food.  We arrived there on a reservation made only six hours prior, and were seated immediately.   The modern decor, warm paint and excellent ambiance was pleasing to the eyes.

We shared a wonderful salad, the grilled butterfish and a special lamb dish, and washed it down with a tasty Pinot Noir.  Everything was superb.  Unfortunately, service was a bit slow.  Still, worth a second visit.

I went to dinner at Aneu with a group of friends this weekend. It was our first time eating there since the name and location change and we were all looking forward to returning as we always had a good experience at the old location. Parking was convenient, they have a free garage that is attached to the building.

Our first impression walking into the new restaurant was positive; the decor and space was beautiful.  We were promtly seated and our waitress came to take our drink orders but they then took a bit of time to arrive. From there it was downhill. Water glasses weren't filled regularly, we were missing silverware, dinner specials weren't presented and our waitress was generally MIA.

Apps were fair - calamari was good; truffle fries were soggy.  Salads were dry and served on warm plates.

The gap between salads and entrees being served was at least 20 minutes and we were left waiting with empty drink glasses.  When our dinners arrived there were mixed reviews. One filet was cold and dried out and was sent back. The other entrees arrived luke warm and were served on cold plates.  No one else bothered sending their entrees back, but we all should have. Dessert was fair - nothing exceptional.

What was most disappointing was that 20% service was included for a group of 6. Our service was really bad and we were all left wondering if it was a result of our waitress's automatic tip.  When you're paying $400+ for dinner, you should have the option to leave less gratuity, especially when the food and service were poor.  Had we had a different evening, we would have easily left 20+%!

So in summary, it was an ok overall experience. Unsure if we'll give Aneu a second chance which is disappointing.

Had dinner at Meridith's  .....or Aneu???  Change of names?
    And it was pleasant.

We went on a Sunday night and it wasn't full, but it was just right.
We were greeted by our server who must be the supervisor/manager.  He was very good and attentive.

We started out with the Truffle Fries.  And when they came my husband looked at me and said,, why did you get fries as an appetizer, we  can get fries any old time.  Well they sounded wonderful on the menu.
Shoestring fries, truffle, parmesan and parsley.  They were just okay and I should have ordered a salad in hindsight.

My husband had the chicken pot pie.... And let me mention that this was a very big portion and hot.  The steam just kept on coming off it.  It was good.  Again, it's just a chicken pot pie.  But my husband has a soft spot  for those pearl onions.

I had the white Truffle Gnocchi.  It WAS very good.  Sun dried tomatoes, carmelized onions, spinach  in a cream sauce.   I didn't know what to expect, but it was very good.  I liked it a lot.  It does get rather boring because it is all the same, so I traded off with the pot pie.

I liked my dish better then my husbands' and vice versa.

The only disappointing spot was the chocolate bread pudding.  Or perhaps it's because bread pudding is not my favorite dessert.

Others may enjoy it more.  To me it tasted like chocolate spongy bread.  Is that the way it's supposed to taste?  Don't know.

All in all it was a pleasant evening and we will go back.

Our first time either at Aneu or at Meridiths.  I took them up on their Living Social special - and it was certainly worth it.  Dinner included an appetizer, main course, dessert and a bottle of wine for two.  Many times with these "coupon" offers the restaurant doesn't give it its all.  In this case there was a special Living Social menu - and the selections weren't bad.  I had the crab cakes which were OK.  The salad was very good.  The wine is what you would expect in Pennsylvania as an "add on."  It was probably a $5 bottle.  Luckily, I was prepared and brought my own bottle of good wine.
I am not upset with the selection as it was to be expected with the coupon offer.

The room was nice - not too noisy considering we were next to the bar.  I thought the bar area was comfortable.

Our server was very good and attentive.

Someplace I would try again off the "regular" menu.

Prior to today, I had been to the "new" merediths for several business lunches and it was great for that. Paying $12 for a hamburger somehow doesn't bother me as much when I am expensing it ;).
Anyhow, today we went for sunday brunch with our toddler and newborn in tow. It was actually sort of humorous- they sequestered the few families with kids into the back dining room! The service was awful. Our waiter barely gave us the time of day, never refilled drinks etc. I had a steak and potato salad which was pretty decent although small and my husband said his burger was good.

Went for dinner and was expecting it to be a BYO given what it says on the website. I was pissed about the $7 corkage fee for a BYO but decided to try it anyway.

Upon arrival, it appears that they have a full bar & wine list and learned that Tuesday's are half-price wine bottle prices. That was a fantastic surprise.

However, I was underwhelmed by the service, the staff and food. My expectations were not met based on what others have said. I found the food to be under seasoned or not seasoned at all. I had the risotto which was tasteless. The scallops that came with it were beautifully prepared but lacked seasoning.

We shared the strawberry shortcake dessert which was an incredibly rock hard cake product that when we attempted to cut it with our spoons, pieces of cake product and whipped cream went flying.

There was clearly a problem with the kitchen and the timing of the food delivery. We waited a REALLY long time for our wine and first courses and then it was rapid fire with the entrees. This is not what should occur at a restaurant that has laid a claim to Best of Philly..

So, I tried it but doubt that I will return since it did not stand out in any positive manner. Hence the 2 stars..

3.5 stars.  Food was good but wine list was lacking.   Service was ok.  A little slow and we weren't told what the daily specials were.  They also didn't check us in with open table even though we were there on time.   Nice cozy country atmosphere.  We would go back again.

There's not a lot of choice in Berwyn and Meridith's benefits from that.

For lunch, I sampled their hamburger - a mainstay and the gold standard of any lunch menu.  It was disappointing.

Trendy digs and less than fancy food add-up to a very mediocre experience.

    Not worth a detour.

I was so happy when Meredith's moved to a more convenient location (with lots of covered parking) in Berwyn, but I soon discovered that they have yet to cure the inconsistency in their Sunday brunch menu, which plagued the old location.  Nobody should pay $15 a plate to find out if good food will come out of the kitchen that day -- it should be a given.  I've had wonderfully fluffy and light pancakes and delicious mexican omelets at Meredith's, but I've also had tasteless smoked salmon eggs benedict and passable, stiff blueberry pancakes.  I suppose the dark lighting and cellar-like atmosphere did not help, either.  If you do go, I wish you the best of luck!

Went there for a small holiday get together for dinner.  Said it was BYOB, but when we showed up with some good beers we were told you could only bring wine.  Disappointing!  The wait staff was very attentive.  We had a couple apps.  Crab martini was tasty, calamari not so.  I had hangar? steak (or flat steak).  I could have done better at home.  It was a lot thicker than others I have had.  Seemed like a piece of sirloin :(.  My wife had goat cheese ravioli and so did her friend. Neither was overwhelmed.  Our other friend had the filet which he said was just OK.  My wife had tiramisu for dessert which she liked a lot.

Bottom line:  Nice atmosphere, but mediocre at best food for the money.

We had been to Meredith's several times for brunch at their old Leopard Road location.  Brunch there was almost always a success with a lot of great options and good to very good service.  Our first visit to Meredith's since its move across Lancaster Avenue was for a late weekday lunch.  I don't know if it was that we had never tried anything other than brunch food from Meredith's or that the servers have turned over since their relocation, but our visit was pretty disappointing.

The new space (formerly Bistro M) is quite nice, with a charming outdoor seating area.  The food however: soup, chicken sandwich and southwest wrap were all on the flavorless side.  The chicken in the southwest wrap was dry, but the fries that accompanied the wrap were by far the star of the meal, flavorfully seasoned.

The service was definitely sub-par, nothing like the service at Meredith's former location.  Our server was disinterested in our table and busied himself with setting up empty tables for dinner service rather than with refilling our drinks or getting us something the kitchen forgot to put on the plate with the chicken sandwich.  The runner who brought out our food had no idea who had ordered what, and when I said that I had ordered the wrap, instead of coming around to my side of the table to drop the dish, he extended it across the table, forcing me to take it and put it in front of myself.  The plate was piping hot (probably having sat on the line in the kitchen for an extended period of time, which also may have been to blame for the dry chicken) and burned my fingers.  The food runner scurried back into the kitchen with no further attention paid to our table.

I assume that since it's still called Meredith's (after the owner) there has been no change in management, but as we all know restaurant service can be a high turnover business.  It could have just been an off day, but my dining companions agreed that they would all be loath to return, even for brunch, which is usually very satisfying.  That's the thing about bad dining experiences: you sometimes remember them even more than the good ones.

We had booked Meridith's for our rehearsal dinner about a year before our event, when they were at the Leopard Rd location, and they were a BYO. They had since moved to a more prime Lancaster Ave location, and added a bar with a liquor license, but I think they still allow you to bring wine.

We ate at Meridith's a few times before our even and we loved it. The food is always good and they have a very talented Chef. Our rehearsal dinner was no different. The food was amazing, the service was great, and the new location has a great private room in the back, so we were enjoying a very private dinner.

We had a pre-fixed menu, and everyone chose one of three first course/appetizer choices, one of three second course/entree choices, and one of three third course/dessert choices. Their strawberry shortcake is my favorite.

I would recommend Meridith's for Dinner or any private event.

Kristine and I ventured out for a Sunday brunch (she had just gotten the new Philadelphia magazine that had 55 top brunch places, so that planted the brunch idea).

We decided on Meredith's in Berwyn, which was described as quiet and peaceful by the magazine.  I punched it into the gps of my car and off we went.  Pulling up to the place it seemed extremely empty...too empty, infact.  There were some delivery vans and one other car in the lot.  After ducking inside it was pretty obvious that we weren't at the right Meredith's.  We had gone to their catering location.  The lady inside was very nice and directed us down the street to the location of the real restaurant.

We learned one thing on this trip...people dress up alot for brunch.  We were in jeans and T's, and women were in outfits that I can only assume was worn to church an hour earlier.

    Onto the food...

The Philadelphia magazine mentioned how good their cinnamon bun french toast is...so I naturally put it to the test.  Kristine was torn between huevos rancheros and a ratatouille omelet.  She went with the omelet after consulting my opinion.

My cinnamon bun french toast was good, not great.  My measuring stick for this dish is Ruby's diner.  If it's anywhere near Ruby's, then they have done a great job.  This was just good.  Kristine didn't love her omelet.  It really wasn't much of an omelet at all.  It was just eggs folded ontop of some veggies.  The whole thing didn't melt together like you would expect an omelet to do.  Sure, it tasted ok.  But it was like taking each individual ingredient from the dish and putting it in your mouth separately and chewing.

Oh, and we got an appetizer of a fruit plate.  Pretty boring and basic really.

We decided to go back and give this place another try since we liked, but didn't love it.  Hopefully we hit them on an off day or something, and next time we'll love it.

Have loved Meredith's for a number of years from when they only did breakfast & lunch at the old location (before they opened up both-sides).  Have not tried the new location, but am sure that all my favorites remain the same.  Also, for those who can't get out for lunch, be sure to check out their catering business and bring the lunch in.

This five star rating is based on the breakfast. I've never been here for anything but breakfast. Meridith's ranks among my top three favorite breakfast spots.

Highlights include huevos rancheros, egg quesadillas, pancakes and just about anything else on the menu.

I think my friend said it best when describing Meridith's:  "It looks like a freaking bridal shower in here!"

We were surrounded by ladies in various shades of pastel or exceedingly bright floral prints.  There was not a single man in the room, save for a frightened-looking teenage server.

Aside from the lack of testosterone, we had a nice lunch.  My friend got the cheeseburger and loved it.  I had the southwest wrap, and really wasn't crazy about it.  There was an overall strange taste to it - I'm not sure if it was the sauce, or the chicken, or what, but I just couldn't get past it.  The french fries accompanying both of our sandwiches were great, but then again it's pretty hard to mess up a fry.  I'm just saying.

Meridith's is a BYOB, and I would definitely be interested in trying it again.  I'm not writing it off, and they seem to have a nice brunch from previous reviews.  The parking situation is definitely great - not many restaurants on Lancaster Avenue can brag about having a full parking garage attached to their space.

Had lunch at Meridith's today. They have moved into their new space, which used to be one of my faves, Bistro M (sadly out of business now).

I really liked what I got. I had eaten several times at the old space, so I have some basis for the review. I had a really great Cobb Sandwich (turkey, bleu cheese, tomato on an 8-grain bread) and tasted the California Chicken Sandwich (chicken, avocado, mozzarella). Both were really tasty -- about $11 each.

The layout of the new place is really great. There were lots of Mainline Ladies Who Lunch there...and the place handled the volume very well. Now that they have a very good parking situation (it was a disaster at their other place) I'll go back lots more.

Um, looks like BYOB still. I'll amend this review when I get back there for dinner.

This was  a tough one.   I went here on a Saturday morning for a nice breakfast with my wife.   The host who seemed to be the owner, seemed like he was quite busy and seating us was a major task.   The food itself was excellent.  I had cinnamon roll french toast and my wife had the breakfast quesadilla.   Both food items were absolutely excellent and were prepared and decorated nicely.   The service was below par, i had to wait a long time even though the place was quite empty.  I had to wait a while for a glass of water, and our order seemed to take a while.   The prices are high for breakfast but on par with a GOOD breakfast place.   IHOP this place is not, and a diner this place is not.   The decor is nice, clean and the place inside is very nice.   I would recommend this place to anybody but be in line for a long wait for food and a pricey yet awesome breakfast.

Owners Meridith and George McLoughlin operate this elegant BYOB (last I checked) in Berwyn. I met with a friend here for lunch. Their interior is charming and can introduce a little romance to any meal, especially dinner dates. Seating is a snap, as there's lots indoors and some outdoors (where we sat). The view outside isn't amazing since you're staring at their small parking lot, but we enjoyed the weather on their porch.

We shared a plate of their Super Nachos ($7.50), which had crisp chips, fresh meat, and lots of cheese, finished with a dollop of sour cream. For my entree, I had the Shrimp Aristotle ($12), with olives and shrimp on a satisfying penne pasta, with a white-wine garlic sauce, full of sweet sun-dried tomatoes. Yes, so good.

Service was pleasant: Lisa got me a cup of tea at their "bar" (since Meridith's = BYOB), Lori and Gwendolyn answered my questions about the venue, the food, and their history. They brought out the check when needed. All in all, Meridith's was an enjoyable lunch - worth a try if you haven't been yet!

Right off of Lancaster, it's a casual but still very nice BYO that has outdoor seating and a top-notch brunch.  Service can be hit-or-miss, but cuisine is always dependably excellent.
