Great authentic Italian. I had the squid ink linguini with muscles- it was delicious! The waitress we had Z was so nice and patient- she answered a lot of questions about the menu and even recommended a great bottle of wine. My husband and I have eaten here a number of times and have never been disappointed! Z has been our waitress a few of the times and is always very fun and informative! Romantic setting- not too loud- in the summer it's fun to sit outside.
Review Source:Best Valentine's Day ever. Entered as a girlfriend, exited as a fiancee.
Incredibly classy and tasted like I was back studying in Italy. I loved their gnocchi and the chocolate dessert (I usually sample at least two desserts :) . Our waitress was a charm and took the time to guide us to the perfect meal. Thanks for the pleasurable dining experience and Mr. and Mrs. will visit you on our anniversary (probably before...slightly addicted :) !
We waited a long time to try Arezzo even though we've live in the area for years. The night we decided to go we called ahead for reservations and put our name on the list. When we got there we waited about 30 mins for a table, which was fine. It was Saturday night. Once we got a table we were wedged between two other tables. The tables were so close I could hear the entire conversation of the couples on either side of us. Our server stopped by, said hi, then ran off for the next 10 mins or so. When she came back we ordered and eventually bread was brought to us. We never saw her again until she dropped off our bill. The food was decent. Nothing spectacular. I don't think we'd go back because of the cramped table situation and the abundance of other Italian restaurants in the area.
Review Source:When will I stop falling for Groupon specials? Â We dined at Arezzo last night using a Groupon and were totally underwhelmed. Â We are finding that very often restaurants use these online specials when they are about to shutter their doors and say Arriverderci. Â We ordered a pasta dish and a chicken dish and shared. Â Truly, nothing to rave about. Â The bread that was served was a couple of pieces of cold foccaccia. Â Our waitress had an "attitude" which didn't get things off to a good start. Â The least expensive red wine was $8.50 and very mediocre. Â We have a pet peeve about restaurants overcharging for wine and this falls into that category. Â Arezzo is an average neighborhood Italian restaurant that pretends it is a Michelin 5 Star and as pretentious as all get-out. Â We tried to get our server's attention to get more bread, but even though we dined early and it was not busy, she pretty much ignored us except to ask if there was anything else we would like when she cleared the table and gave us the bill. Â There are way better and more interesting places to eat in the 50th and France area than Arezzo.
Review Source:Good food, nice decor, mediocre service, overpriced.
Went for a Groupon deal... after being seated, it took 10 minutes for our waitress to arrive, and we didn't see her again until after the meal was over (we were checked on and served by other staff, and had to flag down people to ask for bread).
Had the ravioli on special and the gnocci with four-cheese sauce. Â Both dishes were very good, though possibly a little light (I expect to leave an Italian restaurant with a box of leftovers, but both plates were cleaned). Â Can't complain about the quality though, softest gnocci I've ever had.
Was OK with a Groupon deal, but would not return for the moderately-portioned $20 entrees (plus $6/each for a side salad!) and somewhat inattentive staff. Â It would have been $75 total for the 2 entrees with salad and 2 of the cheaper glasses of wine. Â I have to imagine there are a handful of places where you can get more for your money.
Standard Italian place. We had a groupon. All Italian restaurants are overpriced IMO, so this made it worth it.
Marg. pizza was really good (probably enough for 2 people if you also get appetizers), so was spinach appetizer and pasta dish. Service is great if you like it when they pay a ton of attention to you and really know the menu.
Whole bottle of wine specials on certain nights (prob says on their website).
I recently tried Arezzo Ristorante for the first time because of a Groupon. While I probably would need to go back to fully evaluate this restaurant, I felt that there was a big difference in taste between the pizza and the other menu item I sampled.
I wanted to sample different items, so my brother and I ordered a pizza (tomato/cheese/basil) and a pesto chicken sandwich. The pizza was cooked in their brick pizza oven and it came out beautifully. It was very reminiscent of Pizza Express in London and some of the authentic pies Ive had in NYC. Highly recommended. The chicken sandwich, however, wasnt such a hit. The chicken was cooked perfectly, but the flavors left a lot to be desired. I felt that it needed both salt and perhaps lemon to brighten it up a little.
The location makes parking easy (free ramp across the street), and you are close to a variety of dessert options--that's a plus. However, the interior borders on tacky. I will say, though, that there were fresh roses on each table which was an amazing touch--greatly appreciate any time I see fresh flowers in a restaurant.
Pros: The brick oven pizza is awesome, decently priced items, free parking ramp, fresh flowers are a rarity, courteous service, outdoor seating
Cons: Interior could use some work, seemed under-staffed, flavor of other menu items seemed off
We went to Arezzo through a groupon, and it reaffirmed our thoughts of giving up on groupons. Â It was just yet another restaurant with mediocre food and an average experience. Â If we had paid full price, I would have been much more disappointed.
We had the gnocchi with tomato sauce and ravioli. Â Both dishes were fine, but not worth the nearly $20 price, particularly when you only receive only five raviolis. Â I'm a huge Italian fan of almost everything I try but I was not impressed.
I really liked Arezzo Ristorante. Â My husband and I went there a couple of weeks ago (we live in Chicago and were in town). Â He is an Italian food snob (being European)and really liked it as well. Â We aren't sure why some of these reviews are as they are on here. Â The service was really good (though it was off peak time). Â Very attentive and the courses were well-timed. Â The food was really good. Â You can choose from several homemade pastas and there are several others as well. Â Absolutely delish. Â I'll definitely go back to this restaurant.
Review Source:Ate at Arezzo this past weekend and enjoyed it. Â We ordered wine and waited at the bar for a bit before being seated for dinner. Â All the people who worked there were very friendly, especially the bartender (thanks for the tip on the wine!), and the host. Â The atmosphere was nice, but somewhat cramped. Â The tables are close, so be prepared to hear (and be heard) others conversations. Â Both of us ordered the fresh pasta dish with the red sauce and spicy sausage (I don't recall what it was officially called), and enjoyed the flavors.
Overall, we liked our experience but feel the prices were high for pasta...$19 for a plate of pasta? Â 2 entrees and a bottle of wine with tip ended up being over $125. Â Too rich for a frequent stop.
My wife and I had a $40 Groupon here and we walked in and there were 2 other people here at noon. My server was not pleased that I was wearing a Budweiser T-Shirt, but okay. I was a little under dressed.
I ordered a Summit to start off and they had mussels as a special appetizer. Yummy.
The mussels were fantastic, juicy, with a wonderful tomato base. I have had better, but these were good.
They brought out bread, which I think they did in the pizza oven. It was unbelievable. Crispy, tasty, and left us both with a great taste in our mouth.
I ordered the turkey pannini with the greens on the side. My wife got the fettuccine with tomato sauce without the big sausage in it. I got an Italian beer to go with the meal, good stuff.
The pannini was good, but it came out cold. Boo. My wife's noodles were awesome though. The noodles were very dense and fresh. Very nice.
The service was fantastic. The bread was amazing, but the cold sandwich dropped it a star. We probably won't go back, but it was an okay lunch.
I tried Arezzo about a week ago and really enjoyed it. Â I ordered the salmon dish and it was one of the best I've had. Â The food is exceptional and they have an extensive wine list. The tables were packed pretty closely together, but it's an Italian restaurant so whatcha gonna do? Â Our waitress was fairly friendly, but I noticed a distinct change in her demeanor when we presented our Groupon for the meal, assuming that she concluded prematurely that we wouldn't tip as well. Â She seemed in a hurry to get us out of our seats and on our way right after we presented the discount. Â Also, we made a reservation but were asked to wait almost 20 minutes for our table. Â That was regrettable, but the quality of the food made it better. All in all a very nice place, and if you're not too bashful about strangers eavesdropping on your conversation, it's probably a pretty good place to take a date.
Review Source:My wife and I randomly chose to try this place on a date night. As far as the service, we waited 5 to 10 min before the hostess acknowledged we were there. After we were seated the waiter was helpful and did a very good job. The food was decent, I ordered a fresh pasta plate with itallian sausage. I had never had fresh pasta, glad i tried it.
I can't say I would definately eat here again, but if you are hungry for itallian and looking to try a new place I would suggest giving it a chance!
I really like the Italian food at this local spot and recently visited during their tenth anniversary celebration-the promise of half priced wines drew me in.
Because it can get busy, we called a week ahead and made reservations and an early (6:30) time. It's a pretty small spot. Even after 10 years they seem to have a problem with the simple concept of timing. Â Luckily the food more than makes up for these issues.
Found this place kinda by accident and decided to give it a try on date night!!!
Service was not the greatest... We waited by the door for at least  5 min before hostess came. Another 10 min and we were setted! We decided to try their pizza as a appitizer! It was good not great! I ordered the gnocchi and my hubby got a pasts dish with sasage(can't remember name). Mine was ok.. Like my hub said "you didn't say OMG"!!! that's how he judges if I like some thing!!! And is wasn't a OMG moment at all!! I tasted his and I really didn't care got it..
Over all we were not impressed!
I'm so disappointed in Arezzo, it would have been nice to have a good Italian restaurant in the neighborhood but I just can't bring myself to go there anymore. Â I've tried several times and continue to have the same problem with them.
The food is okay, not great... I would call it uninspired, and nothing I haven't already seen on a dozen other Italian menus around the Twin Cities.
But my biggest complaint, the reason I will not go back there even though I live 2 blocks away, is that they store and serve their red wine far, far too warm. Â You can totally see the problem in how they store their wine--it's on the wall, near the ceiling, where it's a good 80 degrees. Â I'm sick of drinking lukewarm wine there. Â Any halfway knowledgeable sommelier or restaurant owner should know that red wine is stored and served at a cool, wine cellar temperature--usually around 55 to 65 degrees depending on the type. Â I've sent back several glasses there, and they just keep bringing back the same armpit temperature wine. Â It's been this way ever since they opened and has continued over several visits over the past few years.
Blech. Â Cruise on down a little further on France and you can do much,
much better.
As food lovers my husband and I are blessed to live in a neighborhood that is such a culinary hot spot. Sometimes that makes dinner plans a challenge. Where do you go when there are so many wonderful choices? If we want to partake in a bottle of vino, eat a reliably tasty meal and enjoy top of the line service we'll walk around the corner to Arezzo.
Arezzo is such an inconspicuous place that we didn't start eating here until we moved into the Southwest Minneapolis neighborhood. It's one of those restaurants that a friend of a friend tells you about and after you eat there you're left wondering why you hadn't been there before because it's so very good. I have fond memories of our first meals there, one of those was our first anniversary where we did a classic four course meal with all the bells and whistles in their outside dining area that took upwards of three hours. We didn't feel rushed or as if we were burdening the wait staff. Rather, I think the server enjoyed the dinner as much as we did. He even offered to drive us home afterwards! Whether we're celebrating a special occasion or just looking for a little weeknight magic, Arezzo does the trick.
You can't go wrong ordering anything off of their wine list and the wait staff are adept at the recommendation game. Â They focus much of their list on the Chiantis from Tuscany, just 30 minutes away from the city of Arezzo, the restaurants namesake. Â Once you get your liquids in order don't discard the wine list, it also displays the house specials. Â You absolutely must review those each and every time for gems. Â You'll have just-out-of-the-oven crispy and chewy rosemary flat bread to enjoy while you peruse your options. Â Danger: They'll just keep refilling the basket if you want them too.
On our most recent visit my husband had the Pasta e Fieno ($18.95), a three-color tagliatelle pasta (tomato, spinach and egg) served with shrimp and zucchini in a rich cream sauce. The pasta is cooked to perfection and has real texture to it. Each bite is a little taste of Italiana. I selected the Linguine alla Puttanesca ($15.95) composed of linguine pasta tossed with garlic, capers and black calamata olives in a plum tomato sauce. Anchovies were not specifically called out on the menu, but are a classic part of this dish. Beware anchovy haters because these aren't minced, they're coarsely chopped fillets and add a sea salty note to the flavor. Both dishes were executed to absolute perfection. The decor, all tastefully artful frescoes and faux paint finishes, along with the classic Italian music selection adds to the enjoyment of the superb food. Go, go now!
An upper A-OK.
We came here for dinner on Monday night. The place was almost full, but we still got the table right away. The service was ok. Well, with probably 20 tables all occupied and three front of house staffs, we didnt really expect a fully attentive service. Â Though, they were not attentive, we were not neglected.
On to the food, we shared a pepperoni pizza, and spinach fettuccine with spicy sausage. First of, the table was incredibly small, so it was super awkward for us to share our food. .. imagine two huge plates that already took most of space on the table and us having to put our small sharing plates on the side. We literally had to turn to our side and eat.
So just a little note .. if you are seated here at the two-top table, do not attempt to share more than one main dish at a time.
The pizza was just ok .. in fact kind of soggy and a bit pricey (13.95) for what we got, which was just a pizza with pepperoni and mozz. The fresh pasta that we ordered was pretty good. The pasta was very smooth but not overcooked. The sauce and the sausage were also flavorful. We ended the meal with tiramisu. It was REALLY good. .. very smooth and creamy. I have to say tiramisu was probably the best part of our dinner.
Like: the authentic Italian music in the background. Â Parmesan cheese with olive oil and pepper for the bread. Â Daily special offering of ham and fontina cheese stuffed chicken!
Dislike: firm eggplant appetizer. Â Undercooked rice served with said daily special.
Overall, it was ok. Â My buddy had a Groupon, so we gave good ol' Arezzo a try.
5 stars for the fresh pasta! Â Yum yum yum! Â The creamy goat cheese and perfectly cooked chicken rolled smoothly down my throat. Â We started with the carpaccio which was drizzled with olive oil and fresh arugula. Â
Let's rewind a bit. Â They bring out fresh hot bread that paired perfectly with a cool glass of white wine. Â I'd skip the mandarin orange salad-it was blah. Â
MAae sure you finish the meal with some tirumisu, it will rock your world. Â The pasta dished here are amazing and truly remind me of being back in Rome. Â Perfect date spot.
When I go to an Italian restaurant, I want to feel like I'm sitting in the piazza in Italy and this place pulls this feeling.
The food was prepared well. I had the homemade pasta and I insist that you go that route. Everyone at our table who chose the "dry pasta" was disappointed. I went for the special which included a red sauce and sausage. It was just as I like it. I also tried some of my husbands gnocchi and it literally melted in your mouth--this was probably the highlight.
Cost is pretty high for pasta (which you can make at home for less than $5), and this is where I took away the star.
I wasn't blown out of the water by Arezzo, but I would definitely take a trip back to update my review upon a second try.
Really wanted to like it here, heard it was authentic. Â My boyfriend got us reservations for Valentines Day. Â We showed up and waited 5-10 min before anyone came around to check off that we were here, the hostess was just 'not there'. Â We were seated and our server was good, but cold and unperson-able. Â
We shared the INSALATA NOVELLA, with endive, arugula and mushrooms with shaved parmesan cheese, the greens and dressing was nice, but the mushrooms were standard button cheap grocery store type. Â Lame.
I ordered FETTUCCINE SALSICCIA and it was ok, not great, just ok. Â The sausage was truly spicy and the portion was nice without being overwhelming ... but it was not worth $18+. Â My boyfriend had PAGLIA E FIENO long thin pasta with shrimp, zucchini and cream sauce. Â It was good, the creme sauce was really rich. Â But he got like 3 shrimp. Â Booo. Â Again for $19 just not that great. Â The Ambiance of the place is ok, it is way smaller than it looks from the outside. Â The table next to us got Chicken Marsala and that looked like something i might come back to try, but i'll skip the pasta next time.
Dessert was CHOCOLATE POLENTA CAKE.. i ordered it after reading a fellow reviewer on yelp, it just tasted like grainy chocolate cake, it was moist but nothing special. Â So what if it was made with polenta, it didnt taste special because of it. Â The Ricotta Cheese cake was good, a bit lighter than traditional cheese cake but nothing unique.
So it was a good experience but after all the hype here on yelp, and the price of the place. Â I think I'll just stick to Broders, which is right around the corner anyway. Â Broders also has home made fresh pasta but they seem to do a lot more with their menu.
Arezzo Ristorante is a cozy Italian restaurant located in the 50th and France neighborhood. Based on the reviews, I was expecting knockout Italian food, but I have to say I left a little disappointed.
I found the food very overpriced for what you got. We ordered the salad everyone on Yelp has raved about with the pear, avocado and strawberry. The salad was nice and fresh. We also had the pasta special for the day which had homemade tomato fettucini with king crab and a white wine sauce. I found the portion tiny for $18 and it tasted very fishy. I know it had crab in it, but that was really all you could taste besides the massive amounts of garlic. Not a winner in my book.
The highlight of the meal was definitely the dessert. We ordered the chocolate polenta cake and it was delicious. The cake was served warm (hot even) with a dusting of powdered sugar and raspberry sauce. The cake had great flavor with a slight nuttiness from the cornmeal and a really nice, fudgey texture.
Loved the dessert, but the food was overrated.
To be honest, I won't rush back. Â It is super cute on the inside and the patio seating is a nice touch, but I thought it was a little overpriced and our waitress wasn't overly friendly either. Â Maybe I'm a cheapo (ok, yes I am a cheapo) but give people at least one bargain priced wine by the glass. Â We all shop at Trader Joe's these days and it's bugs me to spend $8 on a glass of wine. Â If it's blow-your-mind good, then fine, but it wasn't. Â
I split the salad with avocado, strawberries and goat cheese and it was quite good. Â However, the margarita pizza (although good) had me wishing we'd gone to Punch (where I could have also had my bargain wine!). Â I think it's probably smart that they don't post their menu online because I would have probably picked somewhere else due to the entree costs. Â I am more than willing to spend $18 on a plate of pasta, but I'd rather get it at Broder's, Bar La Grassa or the like. Â Sorry Arezzo. Â
Maybe I'd be singing another tune if I had snagged your $9.99 pasta and salad offer (valid from 5pm-6pm).
Excellent Italian food! If you're coming here please make reservations or plan on coming early if you don't have one. The night I ended up at Arezzo happened only by chance, my party had decided to forego the "special time" menu across the street at Salut, it's special because they are not allowed to use the term Happy Hour in Edina, as they are also not allowed to have drive-thru's.
I wasn't too hungry and I sure regretted that after I had a bite of my cousin's dish. Unfortunately both her and her fiance's dishes were the special so I can't provide their names. One was handmade pasta with shrimp in a creamy and rich white sauce. Just splendid, I couldn't get enough of sauce. The other was a chicken dish on a bed of greens and tomatoes. I much rather preferred the pasta dish out of the two.
I had a salad because I wasn't that hungry, trust me this a rear and unusual occasion. In fact, I normally look down on people who order salad but the Insalata Primaverile was a delicious combination of unexpected flavors. It was strawberries, pear slices, goat cheese, avocado, and strawberry vinaigrette topped on a bed of mixed greens. The avocado and goat cheese made the dish surprisingly heavy for a salad. I loved how all the elements contrasted with each other: the sweetness of the fruit and dressing, saltiness of the goat cheese (a little overwhelming in large amounts), and the smoothness of the avocado.
Service wise, our waiter could have been a little more attentive but I truly feel this is due to a lack adequate staffing. Â
This is one of those places I'm putting down on my list of need to try again, STAT.
Quaint and cozy, murals, even on the floor, make it Special & Romantic. The Authentic Homemade Italian BY an authentic Italian keeps me coming back.Perfect Gnocchi will addict you.Foodies want to keep this Gem a well kept secret, but it is time to shout it from the Mountain Tops, it deserves some well deserved recognition.Every meal I have ever had here was Perfection.Godspeed
5 out of 5 Tiara's
I was skeptical: dinner in the burbs. Boy was I proven wrong. Arezzo had top notch service and amazing food.
Over a month later, I am STILL thinking about my pasta dish: Fettuccine Verdi  alla Salsicca - fresh, house-made spinach pasta with spicy sausage. Simply amazing. Definitely going into my regular rotation.
We went here for a Valentine's meal and left feeling very satisfied!
The atmosphere fits the neighborhood perfectly....quaint and welcoming. Â We had excellent food....the gnocci and tagliatelle pasta! You can tell with your first bite that their pasta is homemade and for that reason I'm willing to pay their prices. Â Dinner can get a little pricey here, but I think it's overall a good value. Â
The one thing I was a little disappointed with was the service. Â I felt like our server could have been a little more attentive.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in the area! Â The food is so authentic! Â You are definitely not going to find chicken Parmesan here...
I love the spinach appetizer, and ordering the tagliatelle pasta. Â Their homemade pastas are delicious, and super fresh!
The atmosphere is small and romantic, definitely perfect for a nice date or a quiet dinner with a friend. Â Fantastic!
Arezzo was where my fiance and I had our first really romantic date when we were falling in love, about five years ago. Needless to say, my feelings toward the restaurant are somewhat biased but we've always had overall good experiences there and continue to return for special occasions because of the special meaning and memories it holds for us.
My favorite dish at Arrezzo, hands-down, is the pumpkin ravioli. They only serve this in the fall and I make sure to eat it at least twice before it goes off the menu. It is soooooo, so delicious. The four-cheese gnocchi is also very good, as is the farfalle with sausage and gorgonzola cheese sauce. I love the insalata primaverile which features mixed greens, strawberry, pear, avacados, and goat cheese with a vinaigrette. Their pizzas are great, too! The only dish I can remember being disappointed with is the penne arrabbiata. It was just....very bland.
This place is very initimate (i.e. teeny!), so be sure to make reservations a couple days before, especially if you're eating there on a Friday or Saturday night. We've always been seated quickly as long as we called ahead of time. The service we've received has been good to standard. No complaints here. Â A lovely restaurant with great food in the upscale 50th and France shopping distract.
My mom and I went here after a day of shopping. I had high hopes since the reviews were positive, and you weren't lying! We had a great dinner! We got the salad that came with sliced pears, goat cheese, strawberry and avocado with the strawberry vinaigrette, gnocchi with the cream sauce, the seafood soup with the spicy tomato base, and their amazing tiramisu. Our service was excellent even when we asked her to refill the bread three times! The Neapolitan pizza dough bread with olive oil, thyme and sea salt baked in the fire oven was too good to pass up. Also their tiramisu was perfect. All the food plus diet pepsi was $63. What more can I say, we will be back for more soon. :)
P.S. They split up every dish into two plates for us when we didn't even ask! They are good!
Excellent Italian food and good service, though be prepared for an hour and a half to two hours for your meal if the restaurant is full as it was for us on a Friday night. Â The server was great, but she was stretched with too many tables and did her best to get to us. Â The kitchen must have also been stretched as both entrees and desert took much time.
Homemade pasta entrees were best - I had the special taglietelle with mussels which was excellent as was the putenesca. Â Chicken special was good as was the special salad with strawberries and avocado. Â The only one in our party disappointed with their entree had the grilled vegetable salad - the pepper tasted of fish, the carrot was burned, and the eggplant was not well enough done. Â They have an authentic pizza oven so pizza was excellent as were the appetizer bread pizzas they brought with olive oil.
Deserts were from excellent for cream Brulee to marginal for the canalonis which were dry and hard with ricotta which did not seem fresh.
Atmosphere is nice, but somewhat noisy if you get a loud party next to you as we did.
Overall we were very pleased and would gladly return.
