Baker's Square used to be one of my favorite places to go. I was so sad to see most of them shutting down, so I get rather excited when I come across one that has managed to stay open. This one seems to have been here forever and I enjoyed it most of the time. However, I was not impressed with my most recent visit.
The service was alright. Our guy was pretty friendly and got to our orders right away. He brought everything in a timely manner and made sure it was all correct. I liked him, but I can't say the same for the food.
My seasoned fries were the best part of the meal. They were nice and crispy, hot out of the fryer and well seasoned. I can't complain about those; however, my grown up grilled cheese left me with a sad face. The bread was overly greasy and cooked too long. The cheese was rubbery and overflowing. It masked any of the other ingredience. It was hard to tell tomatoes and bacon lurked within. My pie wasn't that tasty either.
Sorry, Baker's Square. I will keep coming to you because you remind me of my youth. And every now and again you get everything right. That just didn't happen this time and I fear it will only go downhill from here.
