Welll....I come here just about every Friday and Saturday evening/morning(?) after a night out, and it always satisfies me and leaves me hangover-free the next day. They have a variety of appetizers, freshly made pizzas -usually generic toppings post midnight, but before midnight, they have more creative toppings. It's $5 for a huge slice of pizza and pop, so you can't really go wrong here.

I've been a fan of Bacci's Jumbo Slice for as long as I can remember; sadly this location closed.
So, being the true fan, I checked their website to see when the new dearborn location in the loop would open; it said 4/15/10.

So today, I took the long walk for my hangover cure to Van Buren and Dearborn; this location is certainly not open either. Nor does it look like anything is going to be opening any time in the foreseeable future.

Hopefully I can save someone else the walk to the southern loop, and Bacci's needs to update their website!

    1/5/10: THEY CLOSED THIS LOCATION!!

I walked toward their door, trying to decide between the $7 slice and a liter or the hot dog and fries, and there's a sign on the door.  Closed - moving to Dearborn and Van Buren.  Bacci's will be missed.   So, I went to The Corner Bakery, across the street, and picked up their chili in a bread bowl. Yum.

I live in Chicago but I'm a New Yawker when it comes to pizza. I love me a slice I can fold, with just the right balance of crust, sauce and cheese. IMHO, deep dish is not pizza - it's casserole. Blech.

Anywho... I made my first trip to Bacci Pizzeria today and will probably be back as it's the closet thing to NYC pizza I can get within a few block radius of my office. It's just not warm enough yet to venture much further.

The slice IS too big though. I mean, it's just a ridiculous amount of pizza. I'd rather have a smaller slice without the soda side for $3 like you'll find in NYC. I left the Styrofoam (tsk tsk) cup on the counter and was on my way with my cheese slice.

The crust is a slight bit too thick, as was the cheese, but the crust is buttery with just the right amount of chewiness. The sauce is mild but pretty decent. And pizza is not pizza without grease people! The first thing you should do is dab your slice with a paper napkin anyway, dontchyaknow? If there wasn't grease I'd start to suspect they weren't using real cheese.

I'll be back Bacci... you're not quite Brooklyn but at least you're not deep dish!

Excellent pizza in the heart of downtown. Obvious to most - any person who orders shrimp and spinach is begging to be ignored. Pizza is supposed to be greasy - not to be confused with Pita. I'm convinced that the majority of these reviews rode in on a Segway.

I usually wind up at this place when I can't decide what I want to have for lunch. Besides the Mickey D's dollar menu, you can't beat their price for downtown. They offer a huge, jumbo slice of pizza and a small soda for $6. There is usually never a long wait and most times the pizza will hit the spot if you are starving. They offer other goodies as well. The polish sausage is pretty good.

I recommend the "BIG SLICE" only if you are hungry!

The jumbo slice contains approximately three metric tons of cheese and half a gallon of oil.  It's an artery-clogging suicide mission on a red plastic tray.  (That's right -- it's too huge for a mere plate.  The slice needs a whole tray).

Heart attack aside, the lunch combo will definitely cure a hangover.  So pick your poison.  Don't say I didn't warn you.

Thank god cheese fries on the menu grabbed my attention.  Otherwise I would have starved.

The pizza and free soda deal is now $6.  I chose sausage and poof it was ready.  The hubby chose pepperoni and ended up waiting 20 minutes and settled on the first pizza that eventually came out, a sausage.

Now, for the pizza.  It looks good.  A whole tray of pizza all to myself.  I cut a nice little bite sized pizza, took a bite and thought hmm, okay.  Let's try another piece, maybe that was a bad piece, hmm, okay.

The taste was that of fish or sewer water.  Bite after bite and even a bite of the hubby's fresh sausage had the same taste.  It wasn't from the bread because it had absolutely no flavor.  It wasn't the sausage because again it was rather flavorless.  It was the sauce.  One single bite of that to test my theory and I knew that was the culprit.

So, back to the cheese fries.  Those were good.  Crinkle fries with a regular fake cheese sauce, just the way I like it.

But, yeah, I had no idea pizza could taste so horrible.  Blech

if the incredible hulk was smashing around chicago, you know, being the hulk and he needed some pizza? this is where he would go. mere mortals that are not augmented by gamma radiation couldn't eat more than one slice.

HUGE piece of pizza. not terrible tasting and i saw it come right out of the oven.

    no purple pants though.

This particular Bacci Pizzeria is pretty horrendous. The pizza tasted like it had been sitting there for quiet a while and was very bad. I am basing my experience on 3 different occasions and every experience was bad. A digiorno frozen pizza is incredible compared to this place. I will not be returning.

I went here thinking that I would get a quick late lunch of Shrimp, Spinach and Garlic but once I was told that it would take like 12 minutes that I didn't have I opted out for the Big Slice (cheese cause no beef was available and I didn't want tomato because well you heard the scare lately, duh)

    Oh Bacci Pizzeria

I walked all the way to you (two blocks but I am lazy) in heels and got there to only be told that what I had my stomach set for would take a bit longer than I anticipated and after I told the cashier that I no longer wanted that meal she asked me "Are you Serious" in a tone of arrogance I didn't expect either! Once the refund and new order was placed I walked back to my office with the large ass box not really understanding why I hadn't smeeled any aroma coming from you. We finally I sat and started slicing mini slices out of the famed huge slice and my first taste was not good is all I can sum it up to say but I gave you another taste anyway only to be reminded in your taste of metal and rust....... oh why oh why did you make me feel like a dumb ass for purchasing this at 6.00???  and then corrupt my stomach to rumble because of the disgust??? I couldn't finish out my day because YOUR pizza impacted me to the point I was afraid to leave the restroom!!!

Thanks.......disgusted and not bragging about you!

This place confirms every stereotype New Yorkers must have of fat Chicagoans--quantity over quality, baby!

That said, I'll probably come here a lot next time I'm broke, and the fries are pretty darn good.

BTW it's $6 for your 2 sq ft. slize of pizza now.  Ripoff!

$5 for a HUGE piece of pizza and a pop - sounds like a Chicago lunch to me.  .50 more and you can get a liter of pop instead of a small cup.

You might have to wait a bit to get the type of slice you want (its first come first serve).  Come here if you want jealous looks from your coworkers.

This "pizza" is positively disgusting.  If I wanted to pay $5 for an oversize version of something this bad, I'd go get one of those big blue margaritas they serve at Chili's.  At least then I'd be a little drunk.

I like it!  Greasy goodness, lots of sauce and not overloaded with toppings.  and a soda to boot!

I get it to go--the inside is diner depressing.

I feel like this is that pizza place you go to with a jar of change, a crumpled up dollar bill and some lint when you are absolutely starving and need to get your self sickeningly full.  It is a bargain and it is pretty good, but it's a lot of filler and I don't know about pizza slices as big as my thigh...

Its a great deal $5 for pop and slice of pizza a little smaller than 1/2 the size of my  computer screen (17' monitor).  But I can't eat pizza during lunch so I got cheese hotdog with everything and fries for $3.90.  The food quality is average but its a lot of food for the money.

MEGA HUGE PIZZA SLICES!!! Very cheap too.. $5 w/ a drink too! It's decent pizza and definitely fills you up. Very quick too.  I love their friday special (basically like a supreme pizza), it's spectacular! BTW... I'm thinking about joining their pizza eating contest....  :) I love food tooooo much!

Good HUGE pizza for a decent price, especially in the Loop.  This pizza doesn't particularly stand out, but was quite solid in my opinion.

As for those that say they only offer cheese, this is incorrect.  They have 3 (at least when I was there) different varieties at any time.  Usually cheese and a couple other random types, from supreme to peperoni to veggie.  Yet, these are random so no type is guaranteed.

I enjoyed eating here, but won't go back for a while, as there are too many other places to go for lunch in the Loop.

Tempting offer, $5 for a huge slice of pizza that could be enough for 3 lunches (at least in my case) and soda.  I've never actually had it and have heard various things from friends and decided to give it a shot.

Pros: Quick and friendly service.  Tables outside to enjoy the sunny days.  Price.

Cons: The pizza really didn't do much for me.  A bit bland, basically tasted like plain tomato sauce with a ton of cheese.

I think I would rather get a slice from Sabarro's.

I wouldn't eat inside here either, it seems a bit gloomy.

I like the pizza here for a quick lunch bite!  Their veggie is actually pretty good and its really filling!  I have to agree on the super greasiness but what do you expect from pizza!

It's a simple idea -- get a slice as big as your head and a "free" soda for $5. It was even better when it was $4. The good part is it's fast, and the slice is indeed big enough to fill you, not to mention being pretty tasty. The bad side is they only offer boring old cheese, sausage, pepperoni and veggie, and it is hella greasy. It's so bad that I get a pretty bad gutache half the time I eat it. So cheap 'n' easy, but not the most healthy.
