Ruth's Chris Steak House

Gosh..where do I find words to describeee..

January 2011 was the first time I've been to Ruth's Chris. I had an amazing experience here. The inside is lovely..very elegant and not too loud compared to other restaurants. The side portions are HUGE so I'd reccomend sharing with 2-3 people. The Au Gratin was absolutely huge...when I went to order just myself one the waiter said it will really serve 3-4 people...and so it did. I ordered the stuffed chicken, asparagas, and au gratin.

First of all the stuffed chicken was so tender and juicy....not to mention absolutely huge. The chicken came on a burning hot plate, so don't touch lol. The food coming out on the hot plates made such a difference because throughout my whole meal my food was very hot. The asparagas was very fresh and the au gratin was so delicious with all the melty cheese on top.

Other members in my family ordered a side of mushrooms and the filet's. The filet was so juicy and tender! I could have eaten everything here.

Ruth's Chris is a great place to come on an anniversary, birthday, or just whenever. I'd definitely reccomend this to anyone!

The service was very nice. Sometimes, I have a hard time passing as 21+ and therefore - get treated with less quality service at restaurants with the misconception that I am younger. Not here! They treated me and my boyfriend with respect and wonderful service.

It is quite pricey, so save a special night for here. We ordered appetizers, steaks, a bottle of wine, dessert, and after-dinner drinks ... yes, it was expensive! However, it was worth it. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection, and I would choose this place again for another special occasion.

I haven't been to Ruth's Chris in about a decade and remembered liking it a lot, so I was excited to try it again.  I was not pleased with my experience there.  The service was awkward and spotty and the food was mediocre.  My server, Chris, was helpful with questions, but would disappear for long periods of time and we'd have to flag him down to get whatever we needed.  The busboy spilled water all over my seat (I was in a booth), apologized profusely, but then didn't clean it up, so I had to flag down my waiter again to clean off my extremely wet booth.
The food was not bad, but it definitely was not on par with the better steak houses in Chicago (Joe's, Mastro's, etc.).  The mushrooms were not good - they were whole and in a bland butter sauce, the broccoli au gratin was mediocre.  The steak was pretty good.
Overall not a good dining experience.
