It's the place that gets business when other places are busy...but you get to kibitz with Eastern European chicks that have graduate degrees

I thought this spot was quite good...it's simple bar food, but it was tasty and the service was really friendly.

I have to assume this place gets relatively packed at night and during games, and it was rather crowded when we were there, but it's cute, and I was perfectly happy with my lunch.

The food at Bad Dog Tavern is not good.  I had a flavorless chopped salad with bizarre chunks of boiled potato in it.  I also ordered the Steakhouse Burger which is an ordinary angus beef patty and onion rings (good) coupled with a soggy bun and overpowering amount of rosemary and thyme (bad).  I only ate two bites.  The bartender-server just cleared the plate and, when he got around to it, offered me a refill on my soda.   I wasn't impressed.  It gets an extra star for trivia nights on Thursdays, which are fun.  But by and large, BDT seemingly goes out of its way to mess up easy things.  This place is very skippable.

Perfectly cromulent bar.  Ok beer selection.  Decent food but nothing great.

So I stopped in here to catch up on a lot of emails on a Friday night because I'm almost 30 and starting to get serious.  They have a decent beer list I had a 2 Hearted and have been here several times before.  Shit they used to do an open mic here and I loved the place.  It has definetly changed.  I forgot my phone at home hence the concentration on email.  I needed to make 1 call and found the number online.  The bartender laughed when I asked to use the landline.  I explained the situation to him and offered to hand him my iPad during the call.  He looked at staff and laughed again at my expense and explained that it was against policy.  I asked him to simply send a text from a phone.  Apparently this was hilarious.  C'mon dude I was in a spot.  Do me a solid I'll stay and drink, don't hate on customers ever.  WTF never going back and I live close-by.  Idiots

Pretty decent beer selection (but then again there are tons of places nearby with good beer choices) and the fries are good, but every time we come here to eat it gets consistently more "meh." You know when you go to a restaurant and the food comes out -too- fast? Yeah.

Come here to drink a couple beers while watching football and -maybe- order a basket of fries.

Good food and good specials.  Those alone are enough to get me in the door more than once.  Plus they have a fireplace and a good beer list!  Service is pretty good too.  Although they have weekly trivia, I don't care for the format (only ~7 questions per night) and I spied some smartphone cheaters last time I went.  Cheating is bad enough, but the bar risks losing my business if they don't crack down on the cheaters.  If I'm in the area, I'd go back, just not for trivia.

There are tons of restaurants like this around Chicago.  Bad Apple immediately springs to mind.  Bad Dog gets three stars from me, but just barely.

My friend and I sat in the darkened back room to watch various NFL games one Sunday afternoon.  Service was good.  Quick with the refills, checking in an appropriate amount at appropriate intervals.  After we were clearly done with our meals, they let us chill in the back without hassle.  (It was dead there, so it was nice not to be rushed out.)

I ordered the Steakhouse Burger (Angus beef seasoned with herbs and spices, topped with cheddar, homemade steak sauce, thick-cut onion rings, and served on a pretzel bun).  It was bland.  Super-bland.  By the description, I would have expected a kick of flavor.  They should rename this "meat sandwich."

The parmesan fries were pretty good.  But everything I ate here reminded me of how food tastes when you have a cold.

    I shrug.

I'd be willing to give Bad Dog another shot, but I'm not expecting anything great.

We live in the neighborhood so I REALLY wish I could say something more positive about Bad Dog.  We had really bad service and the WORST salmon I have ever tasted.  Literally ate two bites and couldn't choke down another bite.  Their outside seating is awesome, which makes the bad food.service even more of a shame....

    We wont be back.

We needed to grab lunch in Lincoln Square, and we had the kids with us. Another restaurant that had been recommended wasn't opened, but Bad Dog Tavern was. I usually don't think of places with "tavern" in their name as family friendly, but they had a sign about kids eating free on weeknights that made me think that it would be okay. I was pleasantly surprised that the food was good, AND it was a great place to be with the kids.

    Food first:
It's pub food, so healthy options are limited. It's good though. I had an excellent grilled cheese with avocado and tomato with their Parmesan encrusted fries. My husband was please with his burger. They have a number of kid pleasing options on the kid's menu, but healthy choices are limited.

    As for accommodating to kids:
There were a lot of available high chairs. (We used 2 and there were other families as well.) They were out of printed coloring pages, but still brought crayons and blank paper.

    As for service:
The waitstaff was very accommodating to the kids never seeming resentful of the kids as you can sometimes feel at adult restaurants who feign family friendliness. My husband and I drink a lot of water, so they kindly brought a carafe rather than making us wait for refills. Everyone was friendly, and service was reasonably fast.

I would happily go to Big Dog Tavern again the next time I'm looking for a casual meal in Lincoln Square.

The girls I nanny and I stopped in for lunch after hitting up the Lincoln Square Library.  One of the girls has an egg allergy so my first question was in regards to the pizza crust (it is delivered in clear plastic packaging with no ingredients listed), bread for grilled cheese (has egg)  and the buns for hamburgers (has egg) so she ended up with mac and cheese that was sub-par to say the least.  This kid was starving and ate all of 4 bites of the large portion.

Two girls ordered kids burgers which were actually just sliders.  Which would have been fine except each child only got one slider.  Usually when restaurants serve sliders as the "kid burger" they list them as "two mini-burger" or whatever, on the menu.  If the menu says "kid burger" you usually get one smaller burger-not one TINY slider.  Needless to say, those girls finished the mac and cheese because they were still starving after their rink-dink burger.

I had the turkey, bacon, avocado club and that was tasty.  Though I think I would have delighted in eating my foot after waiting over thirty minutes for our food...the place was pretty empty and our order was simple, so not sure what took so long.  My friend ordered a burger, which she also enjoyed.

We won't be going back-too few options for an egg allergy, kinds menu leaves a lot to be desired, and I'm not a fan of waiting 30+ minutes to get my lunch.

Sorry Bad Dog...you're so close (in proximity) yet so far away (from getting my business again).

Yeah.  This place was a disappointment.  I wanted to like it.  Great outdoor seating, walkable etc.  But I just can't do it.  There are plenty of much better places to go in the LIncoln Square neighborhood.  Service was lackluster, food was similar and overall the place left me with a bad taste in my mouth.  I tried a burger, which I figured would be hard to screw up.  It was screwed up.  Majorly overcooked (even though I ordered it Medium Rare) and the toppings were just so-so.  Cocktails were eh although they do have a decent beer list.  I won't be going back when there are so many other great burger places right nearby.

I had a great time here. The outdoor section is expansive giving you a good shot to nab a table. Appetizers were very good and I'll definitely get a meal next time. The indoor portion is cavernous and it looks like there are several diferent areas with different personalities. I'll be back.

Staff is friendly, service is prompt, but I just don't like the food here.  I've given it the "three strikes and you're out" test and on three separate occasions with three different meals, I still have not had luck in finding something that I like.  The burgers have no taste, the chicken strips have no taste, and whatever the third thing was that I ordered must have had less than no taste because I can't remember what it was.
The only reason to go is for the Thursday night trivia.

The patio was great. Quiet, dog friendly. The staff was polite and great with the dog...but that is where it ends.

    The food was WEEEEEEEAAAAAAAK.

Impressive Beer selection so we ordered beer that was on tap, which was warm, not not cold, but warm which made it a disappointment. Esp since it was one of those that is hard to find in bars and we were pretty excited. We had to ask for ice to make it bearable - ridiculous.

I asked the server which was better, the grilled cheese or the veggie burger. She was so enthusiastic about the grilled cheese that I thought "either the veggie burger is terrible or this is the best grilled cheese ever." It was not the best grilled cheese ever, not even close. It was a mediocre, just alright, tiny grilled cheese that you might feed a kid who wasnt very picky. The tomato and avocado were good, but really cold which made the rest of the sandwich cold and kind of gross, very overpriced at $10.00. They also skimpped on the cheddar. If you want a good grilled cheese (and veggie burger experience for that matter) try Pick Me Up Cafe on Clark.

My friend ordered the pizza. She wanted wings, but again the server "helped" and  enthusiatically claimed the pizza was a much better option. The 10" pizza was ordered with just pineapple. When it arrived there were 8 tiny pieces of pineapple on the whole thing. She got a few bites in and quit, then asked me to taste it to make sure she wasn't crazy. It was terrible. TERRIBLE. Horrible sauce, tasted like a bad canned brand. it was soggy and the cheese had a rubbery, gross texture. Even at the Monday special of $6 - it was a total waste. For amazing pizza in the 10' personal size, try Cleo's on Chicago. Their pizza is delicious and they have a $6 special as well (Thursdays, I think).

So...despite the nice, dog-friendly patio and nice staff, the food and warm beer will keep me away. Not worth another try.

Jon Taffer from "Bar Rescue" would not be pleased... As Bad Dog broke one of his major rules, never have a staff argument in front of the customers.

Came in early on a Sunday afternoon. The place was not busy, but it had a ton of waitstaff working. Even with all the staff there, the service was poor at best. The food wasn't bad, but as a friend and I were wrapping up our lunch, one of the bartenders and a waitress got into a tiff. It was loud and ugly, and in front of all the customers in the main bar area. It was uncomfortable to say the least.

Seriously, this place is in a great location and has great assets (the beer garden). It should be much better. Here's a tip for the owner, call Mr. Taffer, you need a housecleaning.

    2.5 stars.

I really want to give this place 2 stars, but their garlic hummus with curry pita chips was so ridiculously delicious I just can't.

That said, service was hilariously bad (reading other reviews, ours was not an isolated incident).  Boyfriend hopped out to get a table while I found parking.  I walked in and stood like an idiot at the "Please wait to be seated," sign, in full view of the two bar-people and one busser diligently ignoring me.  The place was mostly empty with just a few people at the bar.  I stood for a few minutes, shifting my weight, and it was only when the chick behind the bar accidentally caught my eye that she came over.

Trying to communicate to her that my boyfriend may have just been seated (but maybe he was in the bathroom, I didn't know) was curiously difficult.  Her response, "So... would you like a table?"  was baffling.  After a few more exchanges she told me I could go check the patio.  He was there.  Had she not noticed the one other person (male) who was seated in the last 10 minutes?  Really?

Our waitress was nice enough, but super ditzy.  I asked if the chili was made with white meat or white and dark, and she giggled.

"I don't know.  I think maybe it's both?"  Then just looked at me expectantly.

I didn't serve in "nicer" places, but nevertheless when I started serving, lessons on Day One included, "If you don't know the answer to a question, the response is, 'I don't know but I'll find out.'"  And "Well, could you find out?"  sounded so bitchy that I couldn't say it to her.  She also didn't mention their special ($6 burger and fries, good deal) and I had to ask about it.  Good thing I checked the website before we came by.  It just felt like every encounter with her was awkward, and she seemed very inexperienced.  She also giggled a lot at inappropriate times.

My salad (Chopped) was bizarre.  The chicken on top was tender and plentiful, but the addition of olives and cold boiled potato killed the whole thing (and I am someone who LOVES both olives and potatoes).  The Dijon vinaigrette was also pretty bad, and my leftover salad was much improved by a.) me picking out the olives and b.) me using bottled dressing from Aldi.  Bad sign.

Their fries are really awesome.  That should be said.  Also should be said: on the patio, there are gross brown streaks running down the walls in a drippy pattern.  And there were also small children sprinting back and forth unencumbered for the majority of our meal.

Boyfriend ordered a "Bulldog" martini.  Just want to go on record that no drink called a "Bulldog" should be bright magenta with a cherry on the bottom.

All in all, it was kind of expensive for food that was just passable (except the fries and the hummus plate.)  I wouldn't NOT go back, but I'm not in any rush.

Bad dog is a cute little bar in the Lincoln Square area. We visited this pub on a beautiful, Saturday evening. The beer garden was wonderful. It provides a full view of Lincoln Avenue. There's nothing like enjoying the street scene while gulping down  your favorite adult beverage. Even if the street scene is a bunch of Yuppies pushing strollers down the street.

The Beer selection was impressive but a bit on the pricey side. All and all, it was a nice place to enjoy a beautiful evening with friends. The next time that I'm looking for a beer garden close to home, Bad Dog will be at the top of my list.

Got seated right away, good food, and bussers filled our waters always. The only reason I took two stars is because of the service. We got seated way before some people got theirs but we were neglected for at least 15 minutes. I had to finally asked the busser to grab a server for us. When we got the server, she was ok. I asked for ketchup since our bottle was empty, but she never got back to us.

The only reason I'd go back is that they treated our dogs very well...much better than we were treated lol

We got seated right in the window on one of the first hot days this year. We lucked out! The decor is cozy and almost feel like you're in a basement of an old ivy league library, which i think is awesome as fuck.  The beer selection is right on and the menu had some real selection and vegetarian bar food options.
We shared a (house made) veggie burger and a grilled cheese (w/ tomato and avocado). Both were tasty! The fries I got were pretty standard.

FULL DISCLOSURE: Right after we got there, several people walked in and waited to be sat, (just like the sign told them) and were completely ignored. We saw several groups of couples just turn around and leave.

We'll be back if were in the hood, hopefully we'll get the same treatment!

I came here with one of my skeeball teammates to join his friends on Thursday night trivia, which starts at 8 PM. Their trivia has several rounds - questions, identify the picture, quotes, and Jeopardy style final round where you wager points. Also I liked how they put the questions on the televisions. Overall, our team got 2nd place and the prize was a $25 gift certificate, which was decent prize in my book. I didn't order any beer or food, but I did try a goat cheese wanton and part of a pretzel. Both were good.

I will be back to join in some trivia fun with friends. 3 and half stars!

I have been to Bad Dog a few times before writing this review, most of the times I went to watch a sporting event.

I enjoyed the Thursday night trivia.  My friends and I usually participate in Monday night trivia.  When it is cancelled because of the Bears playing on Monday night we go to Bad Dog.  The atmosphere was loud then because of Thursday Night NFL games.  Luckily the questions for trivia are put up on some of the tv screens which means you don't have to worry about hearing the MC even though it is a plus.  Dan who is the MC at Bad Dog is the owner of Whaddayaknow Trivia.

The next couple times I went were during March Madness because I wanted to watch a few basketball games at a time.  I enjoy the tv set up in the back, plus we were able to have all the members of our large group sit together.  The first night they would not change the tvs from games that people were not watching to other games because the place was packed.  The second night we had the whole back room to ourself and had control of the tvs.  Even though some of the tv watching arrangements weren't the best the service was great.

Our servers were great with managing to take our orders while not interferring with basketball games.  We went the Sunday after St. Patrick's Day and they were out of fries so you could sub any side for free.  I went with the Mac and Cheese.  It was a great choice.  It was some of my favorite Mac and Cheese at a restaurant.  It was a good compliment to the Bacon & Brie burger which was pretty good and the perfect food to eat while watching basketball.  The prices were also reasonable.  I will be going back to Bad Dog, maybe soon for the end of the basketball tournament.

Thursday is $6 chicken sandwiches. The chicken itself was a bit thin but juicy. I always thought the meat of the sandwich would make or break it but apparently, it can't always save it. The blahness of the bread, the sauce, the cheese turned the whole sandwich so dull and bland. I'm not a fan of their fries either. Tastes like Burger King to me.

Trivia Night on Thursdays was a ton of fun though. It's really hard to hear despite the guy on the microphone but they're pretty organized. Every other TV shows the question (and answer when it's time). We didn't do that great but it was a blast.

Trivia night plus good waiter bumps this place to a thumbs up. I'd probably come back for Trivia night but I'll only have a drink next time.

Lincoln Square....? I'm sorry, I live in actual Chicago aka south of Belmont, you'll have to give me a little more to go on...oh...oh, you mean that cute neighborhood with all the fun bars and restaurants and shops....and probably normal rent....and spacious apartments with yards...why has no one told me about this earlier?! LINCOLN SQUARE, people.

Okay, so LS. It IS kind of far north. Like, really far. Lucky for me, Bad Dog is just steps from the Western stop of the Brown Line. Unlucky for me, I thought it would be faster to drive at 7:30pm on a Thursday to get to Whattyaknow Trivia Night. False. It takes FOREVER to get here from Lakeshore. At least if you follow the GPS directions and get off at Belmont. Huge mistake.

Anyway, once we finally arrived, I (like any good spouse) jumped out while Rick parked. He ended up being pretty far away (four blocks by my count, one and half blocks by his....inexplicable). But that's the price you pay for not taking the El like a good Chicagoan.

As I mentioned, we came for Thursday trivia night. It was a blast! The questions were hard but fair and the host is really entertaining. It lasted from 8 to 11 so be aware that this will be a late night. And the bar closes up right after so you'll need to go elsewhere to keep the party rolling. Seemed like the entire bar was there for trivia and the competition is stiff, so bring the maximum number of people (6) to make sure you've got sufficient brain power.

We ordered a veggie burger, parmesan fries and goat cheese wontons. I can only speak for the fries but they were AMAZING. Crispy and not greasy like I expected with the addition of cheese. They went perfectly with my Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald. Service was good considering how busy the place was.

We ended up dominating at trivia but only came away with a $25 gift card to use next time. Kind of a rip but it was fun so what more can you ask for. I probably wouldn't haul my tired butt all the way up here if it didn't have trivia but I'd recommend it if you're in the hood and want some delicious bar food.

I went here last Friday for a friend's birthday party.  It's nice and cozy inside with a bar and some booths in the front and a larger area with some tables in the back. It was 6PM on a chilly Chicago Friday night and our party of 20+ were half of the occupants of the bar. Now I don't' know if it's livelier at night or if it was b/c it was cold but it didn't seem like the place was hopping which is fine by me. I like to have a comfortable area to myself.

My reasoning for the 4 stars is that I LOVE bar food. I just have a soft spot in my heart (or should I say soft spot in my belly) for it.  The table got a good amount of apps and here's what I think about them:
Buffalo Chicken Wing Egg Rolls - Good, very flavorful. Not too greasy or juicy so that it's running down your cheek.
Sweet Potato Tater Tots - If you like sweet potatoes and love tater tots, there's not much to explain so just get them.
Fried Green Beans - They had some light tempura coating on them with some dipping sauce. It was just enough coating to make these green beans crunch. I can't decide what's more addicting to eat, these or McDonald's french fries.
Mac & Cheese Triangles - These bites of delightfulness are really good.  They have crunch and they're cheesey. What more can you ask for?

So my recommendation is on the bar food. The atmosphere is nice. I'll have to give an update later when I go to the outside patio area when the weather is nicer. Stay tuned!

I've been to Bad Dog twice, and while there isn't anything remarkable about it, it's a decent place. The burgers are really good, and I've found the service to be pleasant and friendly. We stopped in last Saturday after dinner to have a drink,  and caught the end of the Tennessee game, which was great. Very lively but not obnoxious crowd, and, there was a nice mix of ages. I hate walking into a bar and feeling like I'm the oldest person by at least 15 years.

I was turned off by the ladies room, and shocked by the ick factor. It was like monkeys had been let loose in there. I don't know if it was super crowded before we got there, but, they might wanna be more diligent about keeping the bathroom clean.

I came here for someone's birthday gathering and I wish they had actually reserved part of the back room for the party. The space was a little tight to have 15+ people but this isn't the fault of the bar.

I had no idea it was University of Tennessee bar but it was nice to have some college football on the tvs to help initiate small talk. I do with they didn't have the sound on the tvs and played music because it was hard to talk to people without shouting.

But the beer specials were totally affordable especially for a Saturday night. $4 for 22oz orange plastic stadium cups and you could totally keep them for a souvenir.

Got the turkey, bacon, avocado and it was okay. Nothing bad, nothing really good. They did have a pretty decent beer selection.

Really I would g back in Chicago because this place has University of Tennessee flags everywhere and will play the football games on all the TVs. That's important.

I've been an unwilling regular here for far too long. The trivia, run by Whaddyaknow (?) Trivia, is great. The host is personable and the competition is pretty fierce, but Bad Dog does nothing to allow for more than a somewhat enjoyable trivia night.

Seating is difficult to come by, which is not much of a problem until the bartender gets angry at you for sitting at the bar and not ordering enough alcohol. My gut feeling is that a paying customer should never be told at the beginning of the night that he or she will be kicked out of a seat for someone who is willing to spend more money on the worst martinis I have ever tasted in my life. The food on the other hand is good. The fries are a great deal, and the sweet potato tots and wontons are exciting appetizers. But good bar food is easy to find on that stretch of Lincoln.

Inattentive service in previous weeks I could have dealt with, but there is little excuse for such rudeness. Right before our disgruntled party left for the night, we saw the same bartender requesting that the people next to us never return to him. We're definitely heard and are heeding that request.

Had the goat cheese wontons and the grilled chicken and bruschetta salad and both were delish!

I didn't see any Bad Dogs, but I saw plenty of Bad Service.

A friend of mine was moving back home to Oklahoma and she chose Bad Dog Tavern as the site of her going away party. I wasn't sure if we were sitting and eating or just drinking, so to be on the safe side I came a half hour early and ate at the bar.

I don't know what was going on with the bartenders. There was a guy who, while attentive when I first sat down, spent most of his time on the end of the bar talking to two guys who were either regulars or his friends. The other bartender was a buxom blonde who just wandered around aimlessly. I had to ask them for things constantly. "Can I place my order? Can I have another beer? Can I have some silverware?!?"  They weren't even busy!

After my friend arrived we sat on the patio, which is nice, and the service they had was much better. I had told my friend that I needed to watch the Sox/Brewers game and the Red Wings playoff game so I went inside for a little while to sit at the bar. Again, I had to ask for everything. I sat there with money in my hand trying to flag down the bartenders. The bartenders helped everyone around me and never asked if I wanted anything and never said they would be just a minute while they helped others. Finally, I said "can I get a drink please?!?" The guy sitting next to me even noticed and asked why they weren't serving me. I didn't know.

The food and beer selection at Bad Dog Tavern was really good and I would love to come back here, but I can't stand bad service.

I think Bad Dog has redone it's menu because they had a few new things on there that I had never seen before. They have also expanded their beer, wine, and cocktail list to include martini's and some unique beers. I also really liked their new awning. It's pretty cool.

Our seats were right next to the fire which kept me very toasty and the music wasn't very loud either. We were able to talk without having to shout, which was nice.

I decided to try their Ahi tuna tacos with mango pico de gallo, served up with chips and guacamole.  It was very delcious to say the least and complimented my Unibru Blanche De Chambly remarkably well.

All in all, I liked my experience at The Bad Dog, and will probably come back here, when I find myself in this area again.

Bad Dog! Stay out of the cat box! Stay out of the cat box!

Portraits of hunting dogs in 3 piece suits hanging next to a fireplace, a brunch menu, a kids menu, and all kinds of TVs with ESPN HD.  Ok, the last one or maybe two don't win a lot of points with everyone. And are there any bars in this city that don't have sports tvs?  It would be a christmas mircale, even greater then when Kiss Saved Santa.

A great breakfast burrito and a grilled cheese with tomato and avocado are all I sampled, but I'd eat either of them again.  And the waitress was unbelievably friendly despite having to come back at least 48 times to take our order due to some major wishy-washyness on the other side of the table.

Oh yeah, portraits of dogs in suits.  I can't stress that enough.  One of them even kind of looks like my dog.

This is the loudest pub I've ever been to. I know that sounds like a crazy criticism. It's a bar, after all. Well, yes and no. The front area is definitely a bar, and you'd expect that to be loud. But there's seating in the back, and if anything, it was even noisier. Far noisier than the amount of people would suggest. Some places have sound baffles. This one must have a sound magnifier. I stopped in with a friend after seeing a movie at the Davis, and we ended up turning the table sideways so we could hear each other. Yeah, that loud.

Now that I've got the crazy old man stuff out of the way...

Other than that, the place is okay. They have some interesting food choices, such as unusual rolls (buffalo chicken, reuben sandwich) and creative pizzas. The pesto chicken pizza, with red peppers and goat cheese, was a hit. Service is friendly, but pretty spotty. We had to flag our server down a couple of times, because she just wasn't paying attention.

They have a decent beer selection, including some Belgian style and small American brews in bottles. My first beer, on tap, was warm, so I ordered a bottle for my second. When it came, the glass was warmer than room temp, as if it had recently come out of the dishwasher. I'm assuming this is why the first beer was warm. Luckily I had some ice water I could use to chill the glass before I poured my beer. But come on, you don't have enough sense to at least use room temperature glassware?

Under the surface, there's a good neighborhood pub trying to break out. But it will take much more attention to detail for that to happen.

Note: I revised my star rating while writing this review. It started at 3 stars, and worked its way down to 2. The good just doesn't outweigh the bad.

Can I give this place zero stars? I despise Bad Dog, I had the worst restaurant experience ever here, and I will never go back. It's too bad, because the food was decent, but overpriced for basic bar food.

They have absolutely the worst service I have ever encountered; back when the place had different owners it didn't seem to have this problem.

My boyfriend and I showed up here at 9pm one night hoping to eat dinner, which we made a point to ask if they were still serving. They said yes. The "hostess" who seated us looked completely brain dead/stoned or perhaps she has a brain stem injury. I'm not sure.

Then there was our "waitress," and I use the term loosely. It took her half an hour to take our drink order. She gave me a snotty look when I didn't order alcohol. Then I think it took another half hour for her to come back and take our food order. By that time my boyfriend had finished his one beer -- you'd think any decent bar would be interested in making money, hmm, off of alcohol, and ask if he wanted another one. Nope, they never did.

We were considering walking out, and then our food finally showed up. It was good, although I would bet money the snotty bitch "waitress" spit in it.

A couple came in and was seated next to us, waited and waited for anyone to take their drink order, and I warned them we had the worst waitress in the universe. I think they were there about 20 minutes before they gave up and left.

At some point our "waitress" told a different waiter to "look after us," as he relayed to us. Wtf does that mean? Was she too busy being bulimic to do her job? However, this guy was a raging fucking moron as well. When we asked for the check and alerted him to the fact that our "waitress" seemed less than competent, he berated us, saying "Well we're closed, we're not serving food anymore." WHAT? Then why weren't we told that AT THE DOOR, when we walked in? Or when we were seated? Or at any other point, BEFORE WE ORDERED?

In conclusion, the staff is incompetent, has the IQ of a crouton, the service is horrendous, they are rude, and I will never come back here. We did not leave a tip. I hope this place burns down.

Despite the fact my last visit was actually pleasant and accommodating, I usually get bad customer service at Bad Dog.  It's one thing for the staff and ambiance to  make you feel that it's a privilege to be in their establishment. It's another thing to deliver service that falls short of the pretension.

I'll spare you the details, but to make long stories short; I made eye contact with the bartender one night with cash in hand and he chose to ignore me (and my  money).  On another occasion, our server took our order and forgot to tell the kitchen about it until the tables around us had finished their meals despite arriving after us.  She was apologetic, but the damage was done and the one complimentary drink did little to appease.

If you like dim lighting, loud music, and long waits for food, this is the place for you.  Otherwise keep on walking.

Once opon a time... not so long ago (see dog-lover's guide to chicago book) you allowed dogs on the patio. It was a lovely time when my well-trained and well-behaved dog would unobtrusively tuck herself beneath  the table and beg for an occasional bite of crabcake while I sipped prosecco, BF enjoyed his pint... but that time is gone.
Whoever decided dogs are no longer allowed in outdoor seating... I just want you to know, this is why we no longer take anyone here or spend $$$ at your place! Happily ever after for the restauraunt-goer!

I'm adding this to my banned for life list too.  Man this place sucks.
Terrible, terrible service, bad food and obnoxious atmosphere.

Our waiter, Brice, was awful.  Completely ignored us most of the time.  I had a burger and fries but dear Brice kept forgetting ketchup, salt & pepper. I basically had to beg him to bring it.

The calamari was cold and rubbery. We sent it back. Brice was pretty much clueless and unapologetic about the whole thing.

What is happening to Lincoln Square? All the places I used to like are really sucking lately. :(

This place makes it onto my 'Banned 4 Life' list- which is not a good thing.
Basically if I get bad/rude service more than a couple times they are banned for life. The food was OK but testy and tardy waitresses combined with high prices have sealed the Bad Dogs fate for ever and ever. Banished!
