This place is amazing and you need to be quick to get a seat because it's limited. After a nice shopping day in Beverly HIlls this is my to go place for a glass of champagne and a lobster club. Some of my favorite things are the: lobster club,  ahi tuna niçoise, spicy tuna tartare wrap,  and the tomato basil soup!
Try them you won't be disappointed !
I went here with my friends in the fashion business for a little drinky-poo after some perusing. We all ordered martinis. I had the Tango Martini, which was very good. It contains banana and watermelon liquor. I believe they had Sparkling Peach and French martinis. My friend described the Sparkling Peach as "refreshing". I don't believe the French one was a fave. Despite the different flavors and preferences, all these drinks were equally strong! The bartenders were very attentive in asking if we wanted refills or refilling our waters.
There are tiny, screens in front of you where you could watch whatever channel they have it tuned to. The majority of the customers were involved in their own conversations and didn't really pay attention to the screen. The screens could be more practical if customers could communicate with each other through them, play a game, or maybe just Nieman Marcus ads continuously playing. I gave this place a 3 since I only came here for drinks. I may change my rating if I try the food.
Sometimes all of that shopping can make a girl hungry! Â The other day my girlfriend and had lunch for the first time at the Bar on 4 and were pleasantly surprised. Â The lobster quesadilla was my friend's favorite while I really enjoyed the chicken curry salad. Â The waiter was very nice and provided great service. Â The food is a bit pricey for what it is so I would probably only go back for a coffee and one of their famous chocolate chip cookies! Â Seriously the best!!! Â Must try. Â
For those who bake, here is the recipe:
* 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
* 1 cup brown sugar
* 3 Tablespoons granulated sugar
* 1 large egg
* 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
* 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1-3/4 cup all-purpose flour
* 1-1/2 teaspoons instant espresso, slightly crushed
* 1-1/2 cups (8 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
Preparation:
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
Place the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in the work bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Beat on medium speed for about 30 seconds, until the mixture is fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla for 30 seconds longer, until well combined.
In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add to the mixer, while beating on slow speed. Beat for about 15 seconds, stir in the chocolate chips and espresso powder, and mix for 15 seconds longer.
Prepare a cookie sheet with about 2 tablespoons of shortening (or use a non-stick spray). Using a 1-ounce scoop, or using a 2 tablespoon measure, drop the cookie dough onto the cookie sheet in dollops about 3 inches apart. Gently press down on the dough with the back of a spoon to spread out into 2-inch circles; there should be room on the sheet for six or eight cookies at a time. Transfer to the oven in batches and bake for about 20 minutes or until the cookies are nicely browned around the edges. Bake for a little longer for crisper cookies.
Yield: about 2 dozen cookies
Since I an not a huge department store shopper I sought out to grab some pre happy hour cocktails and watch the game as I waited for my friend to shop. The bartenders were chatty and pretty damn good looking. Each seat had its own LCD tv, the drinks were delightful and the people watching was top-rated.
Review Source:Bar on 4 is a nice place to have a salad and a cocktail - and get away from it all.
This place offers a sense of privacy you wouldn't get at really public places and because it's inside Neiman's, you're hidden away.
Suggestions: Go for the salads and ask which drinks they'd recommend that day.
What do you do you want after shopping at Neiman Marcus?? ehm, other then wishing to hit the lottery to pay for what you just spent, maybe sit down and relax those achy feet and have a drink :-)
At this Neiman, on the 4th level-men department, is a round countered bar in the back center of the department store. Yes this is great! While waiting for your man to do his shopping you can sit down at the bar and have a drink and some appetizer... ooh, and got to mention them young eye candy bartenders! I used to bee a regular here enough to know most of them are probably starting an acting or modeling career and this is their real job to support themselves. That's explained all the good looking young men..LOL
Yeah, and just enough time to flirt with them before your man comes to join you after his shopping is done! lol
Anyhow, they have DELICIOUS appetizers and their $4 a cup of coffee is to its perfection! I find myself craving for their coffee more then the other popular Coffee Chain shops! !
Heavy pours, great eye candy bartenders... Â and yea.. probably geared toward women a bit... Â sure... but it's *inside a department store*... duh.
And I'm a chick. Â A chick who loves food, booze, eye candy, talkin shit and people watching so... Â two thumbs up from me.
There is another small sit down cafe that is more cafe than bar if you're not interested in the scene here. Â It's located on Floor 2 or 3 and is perfectly nice. Â We had great food and service there last year. Â Shopping takes a lot out of a girl, ya know. Â
This is really more of a bar in the middle of the shopping area, with bar seating only, that happens to serve food as well. Â
What's not to love, really?
A bar AND shopping... Â
For real.
Are you All crazy??? Only four reviews written about quite possible the most fun drinking , lounging, shopping and hang out in LA. Â Most likely, like me, no one really wants our little secret out, but i feel horrible keeping this institution to myself.
First, the bar staff are all great, fun energetic guys who mix great drinks and are on their game. Â Lemon Drop and Apple Martini are de rigeuer. Â Favorite bites, lobster cobb sandwich, smoked salmon and caviar sandwich, tomato bisque with basil oil----- its all good.
Saturdays and Sundays are a kick, great place to watch football on your private screen and chat with friends. Â I usually take my post around noon and let the word out that I'm at the bar.
Tired of sitting? Â pick up our drink and shop while sipping. Â I forgot the important part, its on the 4th floor of Neiman Marcus. Â
One more thing. Â If you shop there, the worlds greatest salesperson and all around good guy is Stuart Schecter (I am sure I have pulverized his name) in the men's department. Â I have shopped with him for over 20 years and he is a mind reader on what to get for your family and friends.
Read my reviews and you'll see I don't give five stars unless I feel that I have found a second home.  Thank you Neimans and thank you Stuart  To all my friends at the bar SORRY, but the world now knows.
Seriously! Â When you are going to Needless Markup you need to throw back a couple of martini's to get your AMEX card warmed up for the damage that its about to do. Â Besides, I need an excuse when I come home to tell my husband, "the alcohol made me do it". Â
The tomato soup and half sammy is good as are the famous NM cookies but the real star is the cocktails. Â
I love to sit around and watch all the sugar mommy and daddy's who bring out their pets to view. Â This is a great place to people watch.
This is my favorite place for a midday nosh when shopping on the Westside. Â Without including Bergdorf's, which is my Upper Eastside mecca, I am more a Barneys girl than a Neiman Marcus diva (NM sales people are annoyingly aggressive tailgaters). Â However, when our stomachs rumble, my girlfriend and I delight in making an appearance at NM's, so that we can make a beeline for the Bar On 4. Â We have made a tradition of ordering the baja shrimp & chicken salad. Â It is to die for. Â Generous portion of roasted corn, plump cherry tomato halves, shredded napa cabbage, buttery smooth slices of avocado, and tortilla strips for some trusty crunch and texture, this fabulous arrangement is then drizzled with a marvelous tequilla lime dressing. Â Always the same, always available, one of the most pleasurable items in Beverly Hills.
As for the bar itself, it is brightly lit with a panoramic view of Century City. Â The seating consists of no-frills, upright bar stools, which in their simplicity, might not be agreeable to those who are lured by the extravagant Petrossian caviar on the menu. Â Finally, the bartenders are a draw all by themselves. Â They are a super friendly, spirited group of perfectly fit lookers (guys who are probably aspiring actors and models, although some of them have been here for a LONG time; well, ok, confirmation: Â to repeat, aspiring actors and models). Â My girlfriend simply calls them hot. Â Toh-may-toe, toh-mah-toe. Â Do not forget to bat your eyelashes when you ask them for parking validation.
