This place is always such a treat.
My boyfriend and I went here the other night as a special outing. Â We weren't disappointed! Â The sugar steak was huge and juicy. Â My porterhouse pork chop was divine. Â I love a joint that offers you variations of potatoes to accompany your meal (I mean, it's obvious you'll go for the twice baked potato but it is nice to have options). Â Our fancy drinks were delicious and hit the spot. Â I love the retro feel of the restaurant and the music--there was live music the last time I visited and that made it extra special. Â The service did not stand out at all but all of our orders arrived in a timely manner so there's no real room for complaints there.
This place is a Denver classic, plain and simple. I adore it!
Great food, in an old-school, very intimate atmosphere in the dining room. I grew up in Michigan and I feel like I'm back home every time I walk in and strike up a conversation with one of the servers.
If you're looking for a premium, sophisticated steak experience, go somewhere else. But if you want a family-run place with great food and that treats you like family, come to Bastien's.
One other big plus is that even last-minute on a Friday or Saturday you can go to Bastien's, find parking and get seated pretty much immediately.
Eight of us ate here last week. Â It was busy but were able to get a table in a few minutes. Â Food was a definite 4 stars. Â Prices were reasonable, very reasonable with a living social. Â Loved the atmosphere and Frank Sinatra music. Â will be going back after restaurant weeks are over. Â
A gem on Colfax!
