One question...why aren't more yelpers reviewing this awesome attraction? I know its sorta off the beaten path, but c'mon guys...this is a star attraction of Long Island. I've been hearing about it for years so I finally decided to make the trek up to this gold coast haunt.
For the price of $13 it beats the bejesus out of bayville scream park and it more entertaining and scarier. The staff is extremely friendly, you will get touched even though you aren't forewarned.
The props are so realistic and vary vastly, a lot of time and care has gone into this, they really should be charging more, but it all goes to charity so when I bought 2 tickets I told them to keep the four dollars change from the $30 I gave.
I hope I can return with more friends before the season is through. Its really worth the effort to go out there.
This place is no joke. Â The fire department works on this year-round, and there are professional-grade technology and makeup artists that prepare the "monsters" nightly. Â Monsters are all volunteers, and all proceeds go to the firehouse. Â Scare tactics are used while people wait on line, not just inside the haunted house. Â I've walked through this as a volunteer monster, with the lights on, knowing the secrets, and it still creeped me out!
There are moving floors, stairs, strobe lights, and tight spaces - if you are prone to falling, this is not the place for you.
after seeing the long lines at Bayville screampark my friend insisted we go here instead. I love haunted houses and have been to some of the best in the country so I was skeptical. $13, at a firehouse, didn't sound good to me. but I went anyway and was so surprised. it was amazing! couldn't even believe it was only $13 and in a firehouse! they do an excellent job. I loved it. we all had so much fun. very happy I went.
Review Source:This was my second visit, the last time being about 7 years ago. Â It was good back then, but even better now. Â I was shocked to find out it's only $13. Â Cheapest, most exciting entertainment you will find on Long Island, but you better go soon because it only runs on the weekends through Halloween. Â
You arrive about a mile down the road and pull into a park and leave your car in the lot and take a free yellow school bus over to the fire house. Â Check the website for directions because the signs are not well marked. Â I would also strongly urge you to get there early. Â The opening times vary, check the website as well for open and close times. Â For example, we went on a Saturday night around 7:30PM and didn't get back to our car until 10PM. Â Be prepared to wait even longer if you go later. Â They sell popcorn, pretzels, hot dogs, soda, etc... for between $2-$5 up at the fire house while you are waiting on line. Â All money raised goes towards the fire house for equipment. Â Restrooms are available at the firehouse.
I don't want to give away too much about the haunted house itself. Â Just know you most likely will be scared and be prepared to walk up and down stairs in the dark and duck and crawl in tight spaces. Â If you are one who is faint of heart, have knee or back problems or are claustrophobic I would not recommend it for you. Â Not suitable for kids either. Â This haunted house is legit and they have put a lot of time and detail into the costumes, makeup and scenery in each room. Â I clapped when I exited after the 10-15 minute trek to pay homage to what I experienced.
More than worth the trip if this is your kind've thing. Â You would be silly not to check it out immediately.
