Hit this place up at random, which is something I like to do in this neighborhood, considering there are an endless amount of options at your disposal, and most are going to be great. What drew me here in specifically were the BBQ ducks which were on display in the window. Now, while I had come down hoping for some hot broth of some kind, I never can really turn down a chance for some Chinese BBQ, so here is the list of what we had upon our first visit..

    1. A soy marinated plate of sub-gum(can be seen in photos). This was your basic tongue, intestine type dish, which is difficult for some Westerners, but if you are open minded and love all textures then this dish is perfect over some steamed rice and with a bit of chili oil. I just really enjoy the cheap cuts of the animal, because when done right, they offer so much more flavor.

    2. A clay pot filled with Pigs Feet in "special" broth. Yea buddy, this dish was great if you love gelatinous type fare, almost exactly like chicken feet, just much more hearty and fatty. Me, I personally loved this dish as it was so fatty, and fat just means extra flavor. Once you can overcome your fear of this type of texture, then you will be left with so many more interesting options. This dish was especially flavorful in the "special" broth the feet were cooked in. I am not exactly sure what the broth was, but it was quite similar to a typical chinese brown sauce, a bit sweet, but also a tad garlicky. Really really good.

    3. Now while I didn't order nor eat much of the BBQ Duck(the other dishes were huge), this was very good as well. The Duck itself had a nice char and a sweet and sugary glaze. And for only $4.95, the portion was huge, and plenty for one person to be completely satiated.

All in all this place really left a good impression on me, and for that I cannot complain one bit. Just another example of letting my open mind and an empty stomach lead me to another fantastic meal...

    Enjoy Suckas'!!!

Have they changed ownership? I have heard good things about this place and Hong Kong style BBQ is always my favorite casual food,  so I was eager to try it. But I was utterly disappointed. I got both soya chicken and roast duck, the most common BBQ fair. The color is even off. The chicken skin is supposed to be brownish orange, mine was dark brown?? The duck skin is supposed to be dark red, mine was orange?? For a while I was wondering which one was chicken, which was duck. Then the taste is all off: is there a non-Cantonese style of BBQ? The texture is weird too, no smoothness in the chicken meat and the duck skin is soft and fatty. I am so glad that I tried it before I make a take-out order. I promptly went to Great Wall to make an order: their environment is quite discouraging, but at least their food is what I remembered from Hong Kong.

It's like really good fast food in diner. Guy Fieri should make his way here. For $6.50, I got a big plate of roast pork, duck, and short ribs over a bed of rice and steam veg on the side. The table came to $15 after tip. That includes tea and 2 bowls of broth to start. I love this place.
