This place is basically a big build your own burrito burrito bar and it's quite good for that purpose. There are a lot of options in terms of tortilla flavor and size, beans, meats, veggies, cheeses and salsas. Tortilla chips are available as a side and the hot sauce selection is enormous. Â Service is fast and friendly and the food is good and affordable. It's a good lunch spot.
I do have issues with my phone getting a signal here and the WiFi is locked, but that's a minor issue.
First of all, great food!
I had to be here for a business trip and I'm gluten-free, so happy I found this place on campus!
Their taco was better than awesome and they have this cool selection of possibly 100+ hot sauces.
I will never forget the taco and hope to be back 1 day to experience it again!
Oh, and they carry Jarittos drinks, yum..
I was beyond excited when I realized that there was a Big City on the UCD campus. Â Mostly because breakfast burritos are my second love language and Big City knows what I like...they serve them all freaking day long! HEAVEN!
Ok, so first off, they have flavored tortillas! Â This is not just your plain old white and wheat tortillas experience my dears, they have a ton of choices!! White, wheat, tomato chile, pesto, jalapeno cheddar and spinach. Â I've only ever not tried the pesto one, because...well, pesto just sounds weird on a burrito to me, but if you think pesto is the besto no matter what, then by all means, order up. Â A word of caution, the tomato chile tortilla is really spicy. So be prepared to either go easy on the jalapenos or order the largest water you can.
So, two things I don't like about this location is this:
1. There is ZERO music. It's awkwardly silent in there, so you can overhear everyone's conversations and it just makes things...weird. Â
2. They use paper menus. Like, the manager went to kinkos and printed off a word document on bright yellow paper and called it good. It's mildly confusing and just doesn't look professional.
But hey, who am I to be too picky? Â Breakfast burritos for less than $5. I am in.
I really love this place. Â A good solid burrito every time I am there. Â Great people. Â Really what more could you ask for. Â My fav is the regular breakfast burrito. Â It's really some awesome food. Â While I don't deviate much from my traditional they have mucho options should you feel like taking part.
Review Source:From what I hear the potato burritos are pretty good. Â However, fair warning: the meat ones suck. Â I bought 3 living social deals here since it's close to where I work and struggled to convince myself that these burritos were worth it, even for free (after I bought the coupons).
The meats (shredded pork, chicken, and beef beef) are sitting in watery liquid and they don't strain them out as they quickly scoop them elementary school cafeteria style with a slotted spoon and slop them into your soon-to-be-watery burrito. Â Additionally, the sliced cheese is steamed with the tortillas, which causes it to be a little gross and stick to your teeth, rather than meld with the other ingredients.
They serve your burrito in a plastic bag, which only serves to collect all the gross meat water in it.
I will say that I like the many different tortilla options, as well as all the hot sauce options, and I have yet to try to potato burritos, which I've heard are good.
Big City is similar to all the other quickie burrito places that have infiltrated Denver, and it's pretty decent. Â I like that they offer flavored tortillas, even if some aren't as flavorful as others. Â I get the spinach one a lot, but the tomato chile wasn't very strong at all. Â I love carnitas but theirs always seem to be a bit dry and overcooked, so go for the pork with chili verde instead. Â The chicken mole is a great alternative to the bay leaf chicken, which is kind of bland. Â You get a ton of rice here and there are several salsas and add-ons to choose from, so you can make your burrito any way you want. Â The breakfast burritos are actually better than the regular ones in my opinion, so make sure to give those a try. Â They offer two burrito sizes, and the big one is comparable to what you get at other burrito places, so make sure you ask for that one if you want that much food, otherwise they just give you the smaller size. Â I found that out the hard way. Â It's decent, and at least for this location it's easier than driving off campus, so when you want a burrito and don't have much time, this is an option.
Review Source:Oh Big City, how I adore you and your potatoes. You never cease to give me a great meal. In fact, I wrote you a haiku.
Big City is great
Potatoes make me happy
You will make me fat
There is a student deal which I was unfamiliar with which saved me some money when I got a drink. One of the employees used to work at the fort collins location so they have there stuff together more than other new stores. He makes a mean burrito and always has.
This was the first time that they volunteered the fact that they put sour cream in the guacamole (who does that?), but they offered to cut up an avocado instead. That is not part of my burrito ritual, but I did appreciate the offer.
I wish this place was open when I used to be at the hospital almost every week for work, now I live far away and whenever I am in CO I will go to any Big City to get my fix. It is like they mix potatoes with heroin, I am always sleepy afterward and then crave it once I wake up.
