I've eaten at Bistro 17 located in the Renaissance Hotel on several occasions and have never been impressed. The restaurant is somewhat of a disservice to the hotel being just a place within the hotel to eat without having to go out and certainly not a destination hotel restaurant as would be Steak 954 in the W, Via Luna in the Ritz Carlton or the restaurants of many of the other fine hotels. This is particularly true when one considers the price along with the taste, flavor or uniqueness of preparation. Don't get me wrong, its good food, but nothing I could find myself to be a fan of particularly since there are so many restaurants close by that are clearly better in every respect at equal prices.

Bistro 17 has a rather limited menu and for a restaurant of a top class hotel, somewhat lacks in ambiance and atmosphere.

Last time I had their rack of lamb, roughly $34 and before that their duck breast done with a glaze of port wine and cherry. I ordered both medium rare to the rare side but both came medium well to well done. The flavor was good; both were tasty, but nothing exceptional or unique in style of preparation or presentation. Basically, for the price I would expect something somewhat better, done with a little more flare and pizazz.

Let me start off with the bartender and food very good. but this place of business has major issues. I went in to use a groupon coupon for dinner in the dinning room as clearly advertised. It turns out that the dining room closes at noon. So my wife and I are stuck eating at the bar because all the tables are dirty and there is no one to clean them up. I was also given a hard time redeeming my coupon.

Stayed at the Renaissance/Marriott for one night before my Cruise and ate at Bistro 17 for Sat morning Brunch.

very nice brunch as it should of been for 17 dollars they had a good selection of juices and fruit along with all the norm brakefast stuff.. eggs/omelet, sausage, pancake dollar sz, ect ect..

you dont have much of a choice with in walking distants from the hotel. there is a French bakery that changers 10.00 for a croissant sandwich
so i decided to go with the brunch even tho i would be pigging out the rest of the week.

the brunch i had is considerably different that the normal Menu

they claim its American Cuisine with local flavor in a intimate, tropically inspired setting..

so that you will have to see yourself.
