I loved the bagel that I had here. Â I ordered the Brookline (lox and bagel) with the rye bagel. Â I know, this is not the first choice of bagel to go with lox, but I love lox and I love rye bagels, so I gave it a shot. Â The bagel was very soft and tasty, not dense at all. Â It came with a pickle and potato salad. Â The coffee machine was empty when I tried to fill my cup. Â I asked about it, and they made a new pot immediately and called my as soon as it was ready. Â Everything was so good, that I commented to the employee, after my meal, how much I enjoyed everything. Â I would definitely recommend this bagel shop to anyone that appreciates a good bagel.
Review Source:I've been eating here for several years and have established a standardized routine that I rarely stray away from. Let me describe:
I'll walk into the Boston Bagel Cafe and the first thing I do is walk over to the refrigerator and grab a small bottle of orange juice. They have the good kind -- Natalie's Orchid Island. Bear in mind I'm not a coffee drinker.
Typically, there isn't a big waiting line, so I can order right away without hesitation. This is what I'll say to the lady behind the bagel counter: "I'll have an egg-and-cheese bagel sandwich on a plain bagel, toasted, with butter." She'll repeat my order to the person behind the cash register, during which point I make my way in that direction.
After paying for the orange juice and bagel, I wait at a table as the folks behind the counter prepare the sandwich. This typically takes about three to four minutes. In the meantime, I'll browse through my iPhone looking at Yelp reviews, Facebook status updates and/or e-mails. They also have a TV attached to the wall, which can also help fill the time as they complete my order.
If the order is to-go, the folks at Boston Bagel Cafe will wrap the sandwich in a tin-foil type wrap and place it in a brown paper bag with three to four napkins. If the order is for-here, they'll bring it out to me.
The bagel is typically sliced in half and is very hot. They use white cheese, which is perfectly melted on top of the egg, which is perfectly scrambled.
I do have a couple of tips for you: First, make sure to add a little salt and pepper to the egg portion of the egg-and-cheese bagel to add a little flavor. Two, the earlier you arrive at Boston Bagel Cafe, the fresher the bagels are.
I look forward to my trips to Boston Bagel Cafe and I'll visit once a month on average. I encourage you to do the same if you live in the neighborhood.
Don't be put off by the 3 stars this place has tasty sandwiches and good bagels. There's nothing really bad I can say about this place. The sandwiches are tasty (my favorite is the John  Hancock- chicken salad on a spinach bagel). The sides (macaroni and potato salad) kinda stink though. I'm not sure if they're homemade but I find them to be swimming in an overly sweet mayonaise like dressing. The service is very fast and friendly!
Review Source:BAGEL HEAVEN! Â Here is the scoop. Â My boyfriend and I are new to the area and looking for a good bagel shop with a decent bagel and a good vibe! Â Eureka! Â Boston Bagel - a clean shop with bagels CLEAR displayed and labeled . Â One of my pet peeves is the mystery bin and I am supposed to know from the color what the hell kind of bagels you are offering that day?? Â Really? Â Anyhow the system works - you go in order your bagels, go down the line & pay your bill & your coffee fixing bar is at the end and then they actually deliver your bagel to you. Â Our bagels were still warm with toasty outsides & light NOT DOUGHY insides... cream cheese on the side was generous. Â Â They even have tv's to catch up on CNN and then get on with your day with a good bagel & delicious cup of coffee under your belt - we will be back!!
Review Source:Stopped in here to grab a quick sandwich today on my way back to the office. I ordered the "University Club" on a bagel, which is turkey, ham, provolone cheese, lettuce and tomato. Comes with one side (slaw, macaroni salad, potato salad or chips) for $6.25. I got it toasted and it was ready in about 5 minutes. The sandwich was pretty good...nothing special but a good size, tasted fresh and all that. They seemed to have a nice selection of different bagels and pastries there, as well as a lot of choices for different sandwiches. $6 minimum for credit card purchases seemed kind of odd for a bagel shop. In summary, I wasn't Wowed or anything, but I'd probably go back in the future.
