This restaurant was two blocks away from my former residence. Â I love the quaint little ambiance of this place. Â In the summer, you have the option to sit outside in the patio area. Â I used to go there after work to grab a quick bite and watch a baseball game on their flat screen TV. Â I miss the food and bartenders there.
Review Source:Brennan's won't be everyone's favorite. Â I'll just say that up front.
That said, this place has character and charm! Â Tucked away in a residential area near the water on Shippan Point, it feels like everyone knows your name. Â
Bring your friends and family here for fun, relaxed conversation, and no interruptions. Â Lots of locals here, so it's definitely NOT a dive.
Clearly a diamond in the rough.
I love the atmosphere and the tucked away location of Brennans. Its a nice spot to go and sit at the bar. The restaurant is OK at best. I had a http://restaurant.com gift certificate so we went for dinner. I decided to try the french onion soup which is not something I would normally order. It was good but VERY salty. But it had a nice sweet onion flavor. My friend and I shared the "avocado fries" which are wedges of avocado breaded and fried, served with some spicy mayo. They are good but I could only eat a few of them since theyre pretty rich. I was impressed that they managed to keep their form so well. For my entree I had "The Nickel" sandwich which was honestly a let down. It had a few slices of very fresh roasted turkey breast, cole slaw and swiss cheese melted on pumpernickel bread. It was very very bland. The cole slaw had zero flavor, the bread had zero flavor, I think they might have added more mayonnaise than necessary and it was just a waste of caloric intake. The waffle fries were good though :) Â As for service, it was OK. Once we got our food from that point on we had to ask for anything we wanted, ie water glass refills, not a big deal because it was brought quickly, not bad not great. Its primarily a bar, so adjust your expectations accordingly. The bar area is seperated from the dining room area so it would be fine to bring kids there.
Review Source:A spot for locals and long standing clientele. Â Don't go expecting gourmet food, but do expect quick, friendly service and typical, but still yummy bar food. Reasonably priced too.
Had never heard of this place before until they sponsored my softball team. Â So generous!!!
My favs:
Healthier side - Warm Goat Cheese Salad
Guilty pleasure - their AMAZING onion rings
This is a great neighborhood spot. The food is pretty OK, they don't have a huge selection but this is a bar's bar, not some fancy gimicky place, no you'll have to go elsewhere for that. Pull up a bar stool order a beer and a shot and take it easy. It's a local joint and nothing more.
Review Source:Stamford, CT's best kept secret! Please note that this is NOT your typical restaurant. Literally tucked away in a neighborhood, right at the end of a cul-de-sac surrounded by family homes. Regular Irish Pub, family owned, cozy booths, and even a cute secluded back-yard patio. The bartender has always been pleasent and very helpful for first timers that can't make a menu choice.
I've never left this place feeling unsatisfied. It's perfect if your looking for the number one hole in the wall. I recommend the burger with waffle fries.
Cozy little place tucked away in the Shippan area of Stamford. Â Standard pub fare includes decent wings and burgers - I particularly like the sliders that are sometimes one of the daily specials. Â
For people who might wants something a little healthier, they have a build-your-own-salad option.
