I came in with a party of 4 at about 11pm and we sat at the bar. One of our friends was far too intoxicated to actually be there. The bartender, Kevin, who happens to have a head shaped similar to a certain male body part and is nicknamed as such to the locals, was well aware of who we were and that we came in together. So my one friend who can barely speak puts $20 on the bar counter, he is sitting right next to me. He orders 2 beers, both at $2.25. He is left with $15.50 on the counter. At a certain point he decides to stumble out and walk home. The money left on the counter was clearly by accident. Who is going to leave $15.50 on the bar counter as a tip for $4.50. Being as that I have been friends with this man for 25 years, I am well aware he did not intentionally leave it there, so I do what any friend would do and take it. My plan was appropriately tip the bartender for his service and give the rest back to my friend, that was until the unthinkable happen. Mr. Body part shaped bartender confronted me and told me I better not take that money because it was his tip money. I was in shock that someone would have the audacity to say such a thing. So obviously not scared of the funny looking man, I took the money and got up. He told me I was being kick out of the bar!! Being perfectly sober I was shocked. I told him to call the police because I'm not moving. He tells the owner I stole money off the bar counter and then he comes over and gets in my face and starts acting like he's going to throw me out if I don't get out. He obviously can't get too far in my face because he is disgustingly overweight and his stomach protrudes about 20" away from his core, which thankfully keeps us at a safe distance so I don't have to touch his disgusting body. So eventually my other friend gets ahold of my now gone drunk friend and tells them he confirmed my friend did not intend to leave  the money there, which is does not really change a thing for me, this place is a joke.
I have been going there for about 10 years on sporadic occasion, I own a home about 2 blocks away. The only reason I go there is because it is the closest bar. As for a real review of the bar; me and my friends typically stay away from the beers on tap. They do a terrible job of cleaning the glasses and taps. I can't tell you how many times my beer on tap tasted completely different than it should, who knows what is making it taste like that.
If you go during any weekday, or any slow weekend, you are sure to find company with the local drunks, it's where they love to hang out. They are indeed creepy. You have to feel sorry for a group of young girls that wander in there from time to time not knowing what to expect. They get terrible beer, the world's worst bartender named kevin, and several overweight drunks starring at the girls wondering if tonight is their lucky night.
I'm going on my third year living less than a mile from this place. How is it that it took me so long to get over here?
Cheap food, cheap drinks and awesome variety. The waitstaff was friendly and quick, they had some pretty great beers on tap and even had pretzel sandwiches on their menu! For being a dive bar, this place has an extensive menu. The cheesesteak pretzel sandwich I had was top-notch.
I love that I can walk home from here.
My review is another one that would really be a 3.5 stars. It's definitely a decent place.
First points they scored by having a pinball machine, Theater of Magic. Selection of beer is a little better than average, but not as broad as some of the neighboring establishments. I'm usually taking in some bar food when I'm here, but the kitchen closes at 10pm, so the window of opportunity is slimmer than other places. Food's not the main reason folks come here though, which might be why it seems sometimes that the kitchen is a sleepy afterthought. Most of the things I've had here have been worthwhile. I'd definitely get the beef stew again. More recently it has felt like the kitchen situation is a little bit of a struggle for Brewers. But the waitress we had on our last visit stayed very tuned in. She observed that I clearly didn't like my garlic bread, so she took it off the check. Then she admitted a few people have expressed displeasure with it and asked if I could explain what was bad about it so that they could work on it. I really appreciated that. For the record, the garlic bread was a small hoagie roll toasted and dusted with some garlic powder. No oil or butter. Dry on dry, the powder flying into your throat. I really value her wanting to make things right. Which also salvaged the experience that night.
There's three different doors one can enter or exit, which seems to make the smokers content and keeps any of the entrances from seeming clogged.
Another interesting thing about Brewers has nothing to do with the service or what they've got on tap. I can't see them in the picture here, but because I frequently drive past during the day, I've noticed that the roof is covered with solar panels. That's pretty cool.
Stopped in for the first time in search of a decent pinball machine. Â Really liked this place! Â Atmosphere was lively; jukebox was standard classic rock fare played at a reasonable level. (we never did hear what we played, though) Â The pinball machine turned out to be a very nice Theater of Magic! Â Also has a shooting machine and a pool table. Â We (over) ordered a variety of food: steak quessidias, oinion rings, chili fries. Â All good, with the steak Qs being a standout. Â Bartender was friendly, too. I thought the prices ran high for a local corner bar, but overall a great place. I'm definitely going back in the near future.
Review Source:Brewers is INCREDIBLE. This has quickly become our new favorite dive bar. I agree with Christopher R., this place exceeded my expectations completely!!!! The patrons are awesome - everyone is jovial and friendly. They have a jukebox, pinball machine, video games, and more.
The bartenders are personable (ask Katie to make you her new drink - Summer Blue) and you feel as though they're old family friends. The drinks are well priced and apparently the food is delicious. I can't wait it try it. Yum.
I can't wait to go back again! You're always guaranteed a good time here.
Goooo Brewers.
Brewers can be summed up as the following....a CLASSIC dive that won't hurt your wallet that has been around forever. A buddy and I came here seeking out their $3 Sam Adams drafts on a Thursday night. The word on the street was that they have really good food as well. I ordered 10 wings to see if this was true and ended up very happy with my choice. The hot wings, even though they could have used a tad more sauce, were not soggy and had a nice kick and happened to be half price. $20 for 6 beers and 10 wings. I left a happy camper and will return.
Review Source:Best dive bar in S. Jersey!
This is my favorite local dive bar. Please don't take the term dive bar as an insult. This place has the best gourmet burgers around and has some surprisingly upscale salads as well. The food prices cannot be beat and they have a wide selection of beers on tap.
Why do I call this a dive bar? Well, you certainly do not need to get dressed up to impress anyone here. It is totally unpretentious albeit being very close to Haddonfield. The bar is kind of dark and seedy but with a bit of charm. The bartenders, waitstaff and cook are all super friendly and the best mix of music is always playing from the jukebox.
Why have I waited this long to go to Brewer's???
We went here Friday, and it's just a cool, laid back bar. Â The bartenders were really nice and helpful, you were NEVER with an empty glass, and while their beer list isn't great, I'm happy any time I can get a $4 Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Â We got 10 wings, hot, and they were great...not the best I've had around here, as Chris from Forno described them, but definitely top three. Â The sauce was spicy and tangy, they were perfectly fried with the right amount of batter, and they were meaty. Â Too often you get tiny little wings, but these were a really good size.
I got a cheesesteak with sauteed broccoli rabe and provolone, and it was delicious. Â Meghan C got a really good chicken quesodilla, which I stole a few bites of, and I enjoyed the hell out of it.
Brewers, please keep doing an awesome job, and we'll definitely be back!
Brewers used to be my go to bar, but a move across town has made it a much further walk. When the weather's nice and we're not feeling Fischers or Cork or Pourhouse, we'll trek over here.
The beer list is surprising good and has gotten better. Chicken fingers are always good and come with fries.
It can get a little tight in the bar area at night so if you come with a group, try to snag one of the back tables.
3.5 stars.
I went in here last night with a buddy of mine. Its a short walk from the Westmont PATCO station. From the outside, it looks like any other neighborhood bar. On the inside they have a square bar and restaurant seating in the back. Whats nice about the restaurant seating in the back is that they have nice sized flat screens on either side, so whether you are facing towards the entrance or away from the entrance you still can watch the TV, which would be useful during sports games.
I ordered a Long Trail Stout, which evidently is a Coffee stout and a Double Cheeseburger with bacon. The beer was excellent and the waitress delivered it pretty fast. The burger came out just like I ordered it, medium. It was tasty and very thick. I had to stretch to fit it in my piehole. The fries that accompanied it were pretty decent and fairly crispy.
Service was good. The atmosphere was very relaxed. They had Allman Brothers playing most of the time we were there, which was nice because I haven't listened to them in a while. I'll have to check out the jukebox and see what else they have when I come back.
Next time I"l try some of the other beers from their long list. Very nice spot to hang out.
(FYI: Formerly known as Pat's Pub.)
Brewers far exceeded my expectations, seeing that I didn't really have any. Â When you walk in, it looks like any ol' neighborhood bar.
The beer selection is surprisingly good. Â When we arrived, I ordered a Yuengling, like a fool, unaware that they had Long Trail Coffee Porter on draft. Â My clever friends did not repeat my error. Â Later, we had some Flying Fish Exit 4 Ale, which advertises itself as tasting of bananas and cloves. Â (It actually does!) Â
The food was also better than decent. Â I just ordered hot wings, which were great; very meaty with crispy skin & a good amount of hotness to the sauce. Â I tried one of my friends' mussels in sauvignon blanc with herbs, which were okay. Â I would definitely try some of the other items on the menu.
So, not a full-on gastropub, but a local bar making some moves in that direction. Â I like it a lot.
