We stayed in Corpus Christi this past weekend (we don't usually stay in CC but in Port A, so we're not really familiar with the restaurants). Our hotel had a few leaflets and one was for Brewster Street Ice House, it said it had a playground and was family-friendly so we decided to check it out. It's right next door to the Whataburger baseball field and a water park, in case you have a hard time finding it.
We were pretty shocked to see how BUSY it was, the hostess explained it was graduation day for most of CC and that's why it was so busy. We found a table close to the playground so we could keep an eye on the kiddos. The playground is absolutely fantastic. You have to take a few steps down to get into the playground, but it is ginormous and there is also a small basketball court. You can stand on the top of the stairs and watch over to make sure everything is OK. Or if you're lucky you can sit next door to the playground and watch from your seat ;) Overall, the playground is a huge reason why I recommend this restaurant.
Ordering the food was kind of strange. But, we got a number and we sat and waited for the food to be delivered to us. Everyone we dealt with was really nice. Most of the food was good, the shrimp had a strange taste to it. Both my sister and I (who had shrimp) were violently ill after dinner and into the next morning. We could only put it down to the shrimp - which is one reason why my review is only 3 stars.
The atmosphere is really fun though. This looks like a great place to come if you are a local here, a big dance floor with a live band every so often.
This place is a great place to grab some drinks before a Hooks game. Â They have good concerts and have a good venue to do so. Â I've seen Randy Rogers, Awolnation, Spazmatics, and even Everclear there. Â Good drinks as well. Â Haven't tried the food so I can't comment on that. Â
If you have kids, they have a play area that's closed in for them to play. Â
I'm a regular there and will be as long as i'm in Corpus
