Very good sports bar. Wait staff is super friendly and makes a point of introducing themselves and trying to remember your name.
I go here for Patriots games most Sundays. They have $6 24 oz beer cans. I tend to order wings, which are well cooked (I like them crispy). The hot sauce, however, is an odd mustard based blend.
The rest of the food is passable. Â If the food was spectacular, this would be five stars. But hey, it's a sports bar.
The TVs have signs on them showing what games will be on. It's easy to find a spot and claim your area.
The patrons are friendly.
Plenty of parking. Also a 2 block walk to the Shirlington bus stop, which is a hub.
I've been coming here for years with my friends and we always have a great time, whether we are there for dinner or just drink at the bar. Bungalow is a great a neighborhood bar and has the best crowd in Shirlington. Â They also always have great drink specials and the bar staff will remember your name.
For food, I always go with the appetizers or burgers. The wings and spring rolls are the best!
I love bungalow. I've had superb service from a brunette waitress with tattoos. She was charismatic, personable, and all around pleasure to be with. The issue I have with this establishment is their management. Â I've physically seen management be rude to the waitstaff. In my opinion that behavior is unacceptable. It makes me uncomfortable to be a patron of a bar that treats their employees poorly. Hopefully if I come in again I will see an improvement in the behavior of the management. I was here September 26th.
Review Source:In the past year I have been to Bungalow quite a few times. Whether for a sporting event, happy hour, a cocktail before a night out or a night cap on my way home, one way or another I make my way there(its my neighborhood go to spot).
Let's begin with food first. If you're looking for a filet mignon this probably isn't the spot for you. Bar food for me please! My favs are wings (naked or thai chilli), southwest spring rolls (OMG yum), their burgers are a can't miss, and can't forget the nachos... Service: there have been several new faces over the past year but for the most part everyone is super friendly. Mistakes are made on occasion, I'm pretty laid back and they are very responsive and apologetic and do a good job at fixing the mistake and try to accommodate you and make you feel whole in a timely fashion.
Libations(drinks): they have a good variety of happy hour deals. I'm not familiar with them all but how can anyone forget $2 domestic bottles on Thursday? I drink the occasional beer but I'm more of a wine girl. I haven't been to find too many sports bars that have a decent Malbec Thanks Bungalow!
All in all good food, good drinks, good service. If you go in there you will usually see a large group of regulars so they must be doing something right. Sunday football anyone?
Since we live nearby, we have tried the Bungalow periodically with mixed results. When I wrote the review back in February, we'd had numerous issues with food and service. Since then, it has been hit and miss. Sometimes the food is good, the orders are correct and the service is good. Other times, not so much. As for being a sports bar, I'd say save your time and go somewhere else. I have now tried the Bungalow for two sporting events - the NCAA tournament and more recently a college football game. During the tournament, my friends and I planned to stay for two back to back games - essentially the whole afternoon. When we asked to turn a 2nd TV to our game (not everyone from our table could see) they told us no because other people MIGHT come and want to watch something besides basketball. Mind you, the place was nearly empty and the sport they had on the TV we wanted to change was team bowling. We had to beg (and point out the obvious - we were the ONLY customers in the back section) to get the game on. It shouldn't be that much work.
Recently, we went in for a night game and there were a couple of tables watching the same game as us. The sound, however, was on a different game. After checking to see if there were others watching the game with sound (there weren't),we asked for the sound to be changed. First, it took the manager 20 minutes to even get to us and when he did we were told that his boss pre-set it and wouldn't let him change it and even if he did then he would have other people "bitching" at him. Â Needless to say, we opted out (sadly this was only midway through the first quarter) and went elsewhere. Â
My recommendation (if you care about sound) is to check and see what the pre-set game is. If it's not yours, go somewhere else because apparently there is no flex even if no one is watching the pre-set game. At one point, they were looking at zone sound to alleviate this issue but I guess that is off the table. Sadly, the growing pains of the new (and lackluster) management seem to be here to stay. Really disappointing as this was once a top choice for my friends and me.
The other reviewers are right about how this place's food has gone downhill FAST over the last year. Â It probably has something to do with the new ownership that took over last year that seems to be grasping in the dark about what concept it wants to have and how exactly to put it in place.
Previously, a restaurant and bar with pool tables, The Bungalow now just wants to be a straight-up sports bar and will throw anything that conflicts with this under the bus. Â As I mentioned above, that includes the food.
As short as a few months ago, I could find some things that I liked to eat here (especially the appetizers). Â Now, my favorite menu items have been eliminated and everything else that I've tried has been total crap. Â Here's a greatest hits from just the last few visits:
Shockingly salty French Dip sandwich
Chicken quesadilla made with a cold, ungrilled tortilla
Turkey burger that was so mealy, it tasted like a veggie burger
I came here primarily to play the trivia game they had last year. Â And even that was screwed up repeatedly, with the nights of the games changed every few months and games being cancelled without notice for completely bogus reasons. Â Now the game is done for good, which was completely inevitable considering the commitment the ownership and management made toward the game and its players (i.e., none).
Ultimately, the ONLY reason to come here is to drink beer and watch a game on one of their TV's. Â Everything outside of that purpose will be a complete waste of your time.
I should have taken it as a sign when the 4 of us entered during lunch time and the place was so empty that we thought it was closed...We took a break from the Wags n' Whiskers event to grab a bite to eat. It was nice that this place is also dog friendly since we had 2 dogs with us.
Service was friendly - I think they were excited to have customers actually. They were very attentive with filling our beers.
Food was meh.
-Chicken Caesar wrap was dry, I had to ask for a side of dressing to dip it in since I couldn't taste any dressing in my wrap.
-Steak & Cheese was OK, not very flavorful
-BBQ Burger was dry
-Club sandwich was OK but this dish is hard to mess up
Just stick to the bar drinks here. I walked away unfulfilled...
Very sadly, I seem to just get more and more disappointed in Bungalow over years of visits.
In short:
As a place to shoot pool - 4-stars
As a "sports grill" - 2-stars
Review:
When I first started going to Bungalow, its was probably my favorite after work spot to relax with my team from the office. A solid 4 stars across the board for atmosphere, value, food, drink - everything. We came several times to shoot pool and have a drink (or two-ish) after long days of writing code - and coming meant trekking out to this non-Metro accessible location from the District. So we wouldn't have bothered if it sucked.
In fact, if I was reviewing Bungalow solely as a venue to shoot pool - I'd probably still be giving it 4 stars.
But they went and decided to remove "Billiards" from their name replacing it with "Sports Grill" in an attempt to re-position themselves so that is how I'm assessing them.
The food used to be fairly decent - we ate enough of it over the weeks of trying to play trivia here. But a massive menu overhaul last year saw them dumping just about all I liked from it. What remains is OK, but with several other better places to eat in Shirlington, this wouldn't be my first choice for a meal. Sadly now gone from the apps menu are the soft pretzels, onion rings, bungalow fries, sliders, mozzarella sticks, potato skins, crab dip, corn dogs, chicken finger platter (that came with fries and cole slaw), honey-grilled shrimp & sausage, the chips & queso/salsa/guac and probably other stuff I like to munch on. The other parts of the menu got hacked and slashed too. The menu does seem to be flipped on its head fairly frequently.
As for being a sports bar. Meh, I guess if I lived in one of the apt/condo complexes surrounding Shirlington or worked in one of the office buildings I'd probably come here. But since I have to get in the car, I'm more apt to pick Greene Turtle, Hard Times, Baileys, Crystal City Sports Pub or any number of places over Bungalow to catch a game since neither the layout and positioning of TVs nor the nibbles are conducive to wanting to spend hours here rooting on my team.
If they decide to bring trivia back here - JUST SKIP IT. This place is very prone to canceling a regular weekly trivia game with almost no notice (sometimes without even telling the trivia host). Simply because the manager doesn't feel like holding the game - or because the rest of the folks / friends of the manager don't want to have the trivia going while they are watching TV (mind you not a local team game) despite the fact that weekly trivia people have shown up to play. This capricious flakiness about holding weekly trivia has happened several times over the last several years.
I'm with a regular group of 5-8 people that has lunch on Saturdays around noon at Bungalow after playing basketball. Â It's been our routine for the last couple of years. Â In the past, service has been pretty quick and the staff VERY friendly! Â
The last 2-3 months, however, the service at Bungalow has been very slow. Â It can take 20-30 minutes for entrees to show up! Â Now, the waitresses are STILL very friendly, but WOW has the wait time increased! Â
Once the food arrives, though -- very decent bar food. Â Crispy wings, good quesadillas & burgers. Â Good job on steaks & omelettes, too.
They really need to work out their service issues. Â At noon on Saturday, the place has been open for an hour & it's not crowded at all. Â No excuse for the slowness.
I hope I get a chance to update this entry with better news some day.
Note: This review applies to dinning here/dinner only.
Went here with two guy friends for a dinner in the village last week-we were craving fried pickles. Â Saw that they had a special charity menu so we ordered the tater ta-tas ($10) to support it. Â Little did we know we'd end up with a small-medium basket of tater tots, no shredded cheese to be seen (maybe they should use nacho cheese instead) and the small tablesppon of bacon was all in one small heap, not sprinkled all over. Â Our waitress agreed and was kind enough to take it back and let us order wings instead. Â We weren't too thrilled with those either, the sliders we had were meh, and the only good thing in the meal were the shoestring fries b/c even the fried pickles were a little off that day-soggy, not as yummy as we remember. Â Maybe just an off night/week.
Good service, cheap domestic specials ($10/pitcher? At Nat's stadium./ that gets you a can)
Wings are Excellent - extra crispy. They let you split your flavor when you get 20.  My lunchmate and I had just finished up a round.  He's a hotel GM and has probably eaten more 5 star meals than I've eaten McDonalds. He was a happy camper too.
Also their ranch sauce is really a sweeter twist on ranch without as much bitter cut from the buttermilk. Â Thought it went deliciously well with their BBQ flavor wings.
The mild (buffalo flavor) were good too. Â I always get extra crispy... kind of takes the skin part out of eating the skin - gives is a crunch almost like a potato chip.. call me crazy, not a fan of soggy skin-like skin. Â Makes me feel too carnivore like. Â They cooked them perfectly crispy, as requested. Â Also the wings are a nice medium/large size.
Looks like you get a lot of darts and pool tables to choose from. Â Didn't try them out but I'm a big pool guy and would welcome shooting around anywhere with good wings/beer like this. Â Tons of tv's too - you won't miss whatever game you came for; they're guranteed to have it. Â
Nice!
Your typical sports bar! Â Reminds me of college - loud pop music, cheap beer, bar food, lots and lots of pool tables, gross bathrooms, and more tvs than you can possibly watch at once. Â Onion rings were good. Â Potato skins tasted ok but were more like quartered potatoes with the usual fixins. Â Pulled pork sandwich was meh. Â
I'm not entirely sure it fits in with the vibe of the rest of the downtown Shirlington area but it's a good place to chill if your looking for absolutely no frills and a game of pool. Â
Go here before 7 on a Friday and you won't be disappointed by the drink specials.
Get your Red on! Â Whether it's Natitude or the Caps in the playoffs, Bungalow is in the center of the action. Â
We dropped by Bungalow to celebrate two softball victories. Â There were barely any seats since there was a Caps game on, but we were able to snag a table outside. Â Unfortunately, this is also the smoking section. Â We were told the kitchen was swamped and it would take 30 minutes to get our food, but to our delight it popped out in the standard 10. Â
I ordered pizza which was so bland and tasteless, I may as well have been eating cardboard. Â There are about 70 brands of grocery store pizza that taste better than Bungalow's. Â Don't get it. Â I did sample the chicken quesadilla which was quite good. Â There were also about a dozen beers on tap.
Bungalow earns three stars for good service and great atmosphere, but I was less than impressed with the food. Â Worth a second try at some point.
Context: Work happy hour weekday around 5pm.
Being a fan of the Chantilly Bungalow Billiards we setup a  casual get together after work in Shirlington. I can't help compare differences from the Chantilly location. Â
Parking needs to improve here! They compete with other business for prime parking. The plaza offers more ways to park than most areas (parking lot, street, garage) but it's still a joke to find a spot during normal hours without getting towed. Â Gringo is clever and hasn't had that happen yet!
Service did shine here but the food, even my beloved Cobb Salad, was different at this location than at my go to location out west. Â The proportions were off and when I modified the salad to subtract an item it didn't happen. Â Some of the plates arrived less than oven warm and not a one stood out as better than good.
Quickie Tippy: Their Fireball - hot, spicy, and smooth. Give it a try.
Our waitress consistently checked on us and made sure drinks and waters were continually full. Â She offered recommendations to those at the table that were from out of town and even happily offered to separate the check for about 9 guests.
Short story is that service won this reviewer over at this spot.
The Bungalow...( or the Bung Hole) as we affectionately called it back in the day.... is like your very best girlfriend. Â It's warm, comforting, loves to get you drunk, keep your belly full and doesn't care if you leave for years at a time....it's always the same when you reunite. Â THat's how I feel about this place. Â Sure it's changed management/ownership/layout...... but it's still the same guts and gloriousness. Â
The food has always been great.... I don't know if I would call it "upscale bar food"...but it's really great bar good and I'm never disappointed. Â The clientele is a mixture of young and old, regulars and randoms trickling in. Â There are always good specials! Years back, when I used to waitress there, they always had a dollar bottle night on Thursday....and although it was always chock full of pompous frat/military boys...it was always a good money maker and a great deal when I wasn't on the clock!
If you want a fun bar, a fun sports bar, a great bite to eat and a place to make new friends.... this is your spot.
One downside? Â Parking can be the exact opposite of your very best girlfriend and you want to punch that b*tch in the throat!
I met up with a group early on a Friday night for drinks and food. Â
I had always passed this place going to the theater or another Shirlington spot but never stopped in. Â I was presently surprised with how spacious it was and how friendly the servers were. Â
I enjoyed my Fish and Chips as well as the assorted mixed drinks. Â We even split a Cookie n Cream which was a chocolate chip cookies with ice cream on top. Â The drink specials went from 3 until 9 which is almost unheard of in these parts!
In short, the place totally hit the spot. Â We were looking for a place to relax, eat, and have some drinks and it was perfect. Â I definitely prefer it to Cap City around the corner.
Great place to watch the game. No doubt about that. Cheap beer during game time or happy hour. The service is adequate considering how crowded it gets on weekend nights. The food does the job but is definitely not memorable. I'd stay clear of the big nachos. What they call "chili" is actually a can of pork and beans they douse the chips with. Kind of disgusting if you ask me. But the Jack Daniels burger was good. The crowd is usually young with a lot of jerseys and backward wearing baseball caps...chest bumping and high five-ing...You get the idea...
Review Source:Bungalow, I wish I knew how to quit you.
On the rare occasion I will visit Shirlington on a weeknight but the primary reason to visit this establishment is to watch NFL games on Sundays. Â They must be doing something right because from about 12:30 to 6ish it is an absolute madhouse. Â If your team is playing at 1:00 and you show up at 12:45 you can pretty much forget about getting a decent view of the game. Â That being said, even on Sundays the service is fast which is important if you are a Redskins fan (I'm not) so you can dull the pain. Â Mixed drinks here are watered down so I recommend sticking with beer if you want to catch a buzz.
The food is mediocre but on the weekends they have a baby back rib special that is actually quite tasty and they fried pickles are pretty good too.
Stopped going to the Bung for years because the service and food had gone way down hill. Some friends told me they had brought in a new General Manager so we checked it out again. All I can say is, what a change! Staff is great, for a Sports Bar the food is great. Seriously try the Sting Rays, the Buffalo Chicken Dip, the pizza, and the "Steak Bomb."
So happy this old neighborhood favorite is back!
Decent place to hangout with friends for cheap food and drinks before hitting up DC or chilling there for the evening. Place does get crowded on weekends and parking is such a pain. Also, if your fan of Dos Equis beer, they only have the dark amber one which isn't as good as the lighter one.
Music is cool and pool tables are available too.
Had a Scoutmob deal that was 50% off the bill (up to 15$) so we decided to try it. My wife seemed to be excited about their ' basket' menu.
When we decided on food, we got 5 hushpuppies, 20 wings, a side (small) sweet potato fry, and side (small) onion rings. We then decided to play pool.
For the review. First of all, soft drinks only offer free refills Monday - Friday. Coming on the weekend? Prepare to ration softdrinks.
The hush puppies cam out piping hot, and rather small. They had a shallot twang to them, and were a good app, especially when we were looking to sample a number of the foods. 3/5 stars.
My wife wanted sweet potato fries, and I wanted to try the onion rings. We got 'side' portions which were exactly what we were looking for, smaller, individualized sizes. The onion rings were delicious, while my wife said that the sweet potato fries were average.
The wings were the star of the meal. They were large, flavorful, and well done. We got 10 of the BBQ, and 10 of the mild. I'm NORMALLY a BBQ guy, but the mild were far superior for enjoyment here. The BBQ wings were good, but for some reason tonight, the mild were just hitting the spot much better.
Here's my gripe. They had (about) 6 pool tables, and only one was occupied. I figured that it would be like a dollar (ha) or even free (HAHAHA). We asked the waitress about the billiards balls, and she broke the news to us. $12 per hour (WHAAAAAA). Lucky for her, I had a coupon so I didn't mind, plus the atmosphere was nice to play, but BE WARNED. $12 per hour to play pool. Mind blowing, especially when I have already dropped $30 on food and drink.
Yes I know this is NOVA but here's my philosophy. If a business has to nickle and dime a customer (refills, excessive billiards charge) then I feel like there is something to be wary of.
If you wanna have fun at the bar, watch some sports, and have a drink adn appetizer with AT THE BAR, do it. Stay away from teh restuarant side! The serving staff is terrible and does not care. I got an overcooked burger that I order medium rare and a waitress that was cocktailing and more interested in flirting with the male patrons. We also ordered dessert. a sundae and the ice cream clearly sat in the back and was melted all over the place. Management was very nice and took care of it but man was that bad! It really keeps us from coming back.
Bar staff is great though and always had a good time with them. Still leary of coming back though
No major complaints. My boyfriend and I come to Shirlington and have been other restaurants and decided to give this one a try. Not a major pool player but the shuffleboard was cool. Our waitress was polite enough. Food was hot and we were lucky enough to catch their half off any burger deal (Monday during happy hour).
My only complaint was for the amount of people that were there we had to wait a mighty long time for our food. Like there are maybe two other people eating at the bar and it takes forever for our simple burgers. I'm pretty sure they had to go catch the cow themselves. O well. Overall it was chill. My bf was curious about their 25 cent Wing special (cold card cash only) on Tuesday so we might check that out
Tuesday nights are $.25 cent wing nights CASH Only for the special
Just a heads up.
Place is packed on Tuesdays with Runners from a Local Running Club, lots of cool people and good food.
Awesome waitress and cute too, her name is Olga yes she has that awesome Russian accent too.
Get there before the rush to find parking or else you will be SOL btw
This review is based on my group of six's experience of watching NFL games this past Sunday. The Bungalow is doing some things right--plenty of TVs to watch games, clean restrooms, and a decent beer and bar food selection. However, a lot of things have changed from last season, specifically the specials: no longer do they offer $5 nachos or cheap PBR.
They had Miller Lite and Coors Light pitchers on special for $9. We were there for the 1 p.m. game and by 2 p.m. they were completely out so we had to order a more expensive pitcher. The food was fine, but if you never eat here, you're only missing sub par bar food.
Also, the most bizarre thing that I noticed was that they only give free refills on sodas, coffee, and tea on weekdays. The menu also said sodas cost $2.29, but on our check they were charged at $2.49. I can spare the 20 cents, but it makes me wonder what other discrepancies may exist.
Needless to say, we will probably not be watching many games there in the future.
What first comes to mind when I think of Bungalow Billiards is the bad food and watered down margaritas. The weird part is that the food never even resembles what that particular item is supposed to taste like. I am not sure how they manage to get it wrong every time. They cannot even get the ranch dressing right. Bungalow's offers a $1 margarita night but they are super watered down, like 95% water. Also the servers are usually crabby and slow.
On the upside, Bungalow's has: pool tables, TVs, lots of space, a large bar area with many seats at the bar, large mason jars full of beer from the tap that they cannot mess up, fun DJs who take requests (certain nights), and a small outdooor patio in the spring and summer.
So Bungalow's = drink beer here, do not eat  food here.
2.5 stars.
The good:
This place is chill (read: empty) enough that you could show up on Saturday night and get a pool table without a wait.
The service was attentive.
Decent prices. 8 bucks for a burger and 10 bucks for a pizza.
The bad:
They said they would make my burger completely rare. It was medium, at best.
The dill frickles were flat-out disgusting, but that could be me. What was I thinking? Fried pickle slices? I heard there are better places to go to experience frickles. I'll never try it again.
The pizza was underwhelming. Â There were 5 or 6 ingredients listed on the chicken/bacon/whatever pizza. It was cheese and chicken. They must have run out of the other ingredients.
No prices on the drinks menu.
We were starving and decided to eat at the first place we saw with a patio for our pooches. They are very doggie friendly here! They offered to bring out a bowl of water for our thirsty friends.
I have to mention that we never set foot in the restaurant as we plopped down on the patio with two dogs in tow. Love the 32oz mason glass beverages with free refills. Really? Can anyone actually drink 64oz of lemonade? My friend had a hamburger, but since it was just past noon I decided on their French toast with potatoes and three strips of bacon for my waiting patiently pooch. The three pieces of French toast were perfect! They came with a side of butter and real (I think) maple syrup. It really hit the spot after a day of play at the dog park.
Service was super friendly - I think we had a server-in-training since there was always two of them at our table. The manager even stopped by to see if we were alright or needed more water for our dogs. How great is that?! My pack will definitely come back after our next excursion to the nearby dog park.
Getting better.
Three years ago Bungalow was a smoke filled location with really poor service and over worked bartenders (you couldn't blame them for slow service, seemed like there was always one to few of them for that size crowd).
In the last year some new employees have definitely changed my impression. Most of the time service is timely and professional (the new laws helped the smoke-y thing) and the food is good for what you pay.
If you're looking for good, reasonably priced beers and burgers while watching a game Bungalow is as safe as you will get. Nothing special but nothing to turn you off.
Went here for just a few drinks on a Saturday night and it was a bit crowded but still found a place to sit and a pool table to play on. My drinks didn't come in a mason jar so i was disappointed BUT still enjoyed the big screens used to watch the Olympics and hockey. The bartender was rude so I didn't really like the service but the interior was quite nice and my friend from DC definitely wants to return.
It is a bit hard to find though but still enjoy it.
I liked this place. Great happy hour specials, and we had the cute, friendly asian waitress. Great price and fun environment. Definitely looking to coming here again.
-------- 1/22/09 update ----------
Came here again for a happy hour with co-workers. I called in to find out what the happy hour specials are, and they wouldn't tell me over the phone. Receptionist said they would be violating VABC advertising laws if they said so over the phone....even though I was calling them. I don't think so. My friend also had the same problem on our prior visit.
***** From the VABC website *****
-It is illegal to sell pitchers of mixed beverages, sell two or more drinks for one price, giveaway drinks, sell unlimited drinks for one price, or advertise happy hour in the media or on exterior advertising.
*************************************
Notwithstanding, this is as close to a dive-bar as you'll get in Shirlington. It's a young and down to earth crowd here...and even though they won't tell you the happy hour specials here over the phone, if you come in on a Thursday they have $1 bottles, mostly domestic. You really can't get better than that.
The frickles are interesting.
The cheese fries are good.
The nachos are piled high.
Parking is difficult to find in the tiny parking lot.
We used to go to the Bungalow, largely because it's close to home (I'll give the food a C+), but my last few experiences have turned me off to the place. Most of the servers are great (attractive women -- never seen a male server here), but there is one she-troll that I don't understand how she stays employed...I can't imagine anyone tipping her over the mercy-tip 10%. If you are playing pool, and she is your server, count on seeing her once every 30 minutes (once every 60 if she has 2 tables). She also likes to 'pad' the bill to those that order lots of drinks (and apparently thinks can't count).
This seems to be an anti-mainstream 'sports bar'...for example on one visit we had to listen to this moron chick the whole night screaming about anything Tiger Woods did (during the US Open)...or another visit with the bar/tables at 1/2 capacity we asked for the RedSox/Yankees game (not the playoffs), and were told that the 2 tvs behind the bar showing the SAME Nascar event could not be changed, as others had already requested....so if your a golf-fruit or like to talk about tires for 3 hours, I guess this is the place for you.
I've tried here for football as well, and instead of doing something INTELLIGENT like putting up signs as to what game(s) will be on each TV, they let the 'first come' pick their TV and game....so you end up with the Ravens (or worse, the Redskins) on 20 TV's (this has to be a pain for the servers...why let them concentrate on serving 20 tables; let them also get bugged about putting a game on a TV that only the 'manager' can, but won't, change)...or if you are lucky to have someone else have picked the game you want to watch, your likely sitting 30 feet from that TV, squinting at the 24" Standard Definition screen trying to figure out the score, or if your game is even still on.
This place has become complacent as it was the only 'game in town' for a sportsbar for a long time...their attitude is more "what do you want" instead of "how can I be of service to you today". Now that South Arlington is being developed, there are much nicer/friendlier places to go....Bungalow better wise-up in it's overall attitude. Chicks who dig Tiger Woods is not the demographic for a successful 'sportsbar'.
This place is great if you're looking for a laid back relaxing atmosphere where you can wear your casual clothes out. In other words, not a stuffy crowd.
It's different from the other pool hall in the area where you can be amature and not have to play pro pool. The pool rates are reasonable and are per person per hour. Way less expensive than playing on a quarter table.
If you don't want to shoot pool you relax at a regular table or at  the bar. Very laid back.
The food here isn't bad and about average in price about $7 per entree. The pizza, burgers and chicken wings are some of the best bar food I've had. They serve until 1am I think, so it's perfect for you late nighters.
The drinks are all over the board. They have everything from $1 beers on Thursday nights, $2.50 specialty drinks on certain nights and pretty normal prices one everything else. Nothing out of the ordinary in this area. The happy hour prices are pretty enticing too (as are the young professional types that linger around during this time).
So basically this place is a good way to get away from the "city". When you want to take off the suit or hose and slip on your jeans, this is a great place to go.
This spot is part of a small chain (four total) of a sports bar/ pool hall hybrid. With so many other similar types of establishments around, it is amazing that the prices are so high and the service so poor.
The waitress we had must have been having a bad day. She did not make sure that our food came out on time, especially when we told her we were on a time crunch to see a movie across the street. She also had a coronary when we asked to split the bill, even before the bill was printed up. I understand the place was a little busy, but still...
For some reason they keep the place really dark (we were there at 7:30 on a week night), Maybe so that some of the patrons could watch the football game? Don't know, Oh, and six bucks for a beer? Don't think so. The way they charge per person to use a pool table is odd as well (every other place I have been to charges by the hour).
That said, they do offer specials every night like quarter wings on Tuesday, Margarita Mondays and so on.
