I'd say that since my original review, Caffecafe has earned the full 4 stars. The owners must read their own Yelp press because suddenly the lines are moving super fast and the females are forcing smiles and really attempting to be more chipper. I've seen that kind of improved behavior for the past three days in a row, so color me impressed.
Caffecafe is getting all my money!!
After seeing Caffe Cafe' Groupon Now! offer, I figured I would give them a shot. Â I ended up ordering the Chicken Pesto sandwich and a side of tabouleh. Â The sandwich also came with a small serving of pasta salad and a pickle spear. If I could sum up the sandwich in one word, it would be bland. Â The chicken was flavorless and the pesto was lousy. Â The pasta salad and tobouleh were OK. Â There are just too many good options in the area to return to this cafe...even if it was $5 for $10.
Review Source:The staff is not very friendly, and seem like they are annoyed with their customers. Smile people it's contagious! :) Also, had the chicken salad sandwich and it was so dry.. no flavor, and the tomato tortellini soup tasted like it was from a can. I have definitely had better sandwiches. Good prices though!
Review Source:Groupon Now deal, $5 for $10.
This place is a cafe, basically a boring, quick place to get lunch, coffee, or breakfast, which is fine.
Service was off or something. My buddy and I ordered one after the other, but his soup and sandwich came a good 10min after mine. Probably a one off thing, but it knocks a star off. I sat there waiting while she brought out about 5 other people's food, all of whom came in after us. Whatever.
I had a mozz, tomato, basil sandwich. I had them toast the bread slightly. Bread was fresh, as were the other ingredients. It was good. Soup was tomato tortellini that didn't taste special. My buddy had the soup also and a Wacker Beef, which, apart from the juvenilely hilarious name, was also bland. The beef was obviously reheated too much so it was dry and lacked flavor. Â
The breakfast menu looks kind of appealing for the price and it's on my walk to work, so I'll possibly try it sometime for that. For $5 (w/ groupon) it was a fair lunch, but no chance I go back without it.
I came here after two years of working two blocks away. Â It turns out I was not missing anything.
The people were all very nice, but the food was pretty awful.
Soup- It tasted canned. Â Nothing about it was good.
Ruben- It was alright, but excessively greasy.
I don't think I'll be back.
I was in the area and has some time to kill and all I wanted was a cup of coffee so i stopped in for a latte. They do make a damn good cup of coffee. The odd thing about this place was that there were two people working at the time of my visit. Neither one of them cracked a smile the entire time. I have never seen a more expressionless staff anywhere. It was kind of weird to be honest with you. As I said before, they make a dam good cup of coffee and I would like to try something to eat here too so i will be back.
Review Source:I love Caffe Cafe! Â It's located in my building, so it's super convenient-- especially when it's cold outside.
What really sets Caffe Cafe apart is the incredible service. Â The entire staff at CC gets to know your name, has your coffee ready in the morning, and always makes me smile on my way to work. Â Recently, Kenny even made me a unique topper for my Christmas tree crafted from a Caffe Cafe cup. Â (I wish Yelp would let me post a picture.)
Definitely check it out-- try a chocolate croissant, a mozza baguette, or a tub of tabouleh-- yum!
Caffe Cafe is in the building I work in, so I pop in here every so often to grab breakfast or lunch. Â
They have great salads. Â I'm a big fan of the Tre Insalate (you choose three salads) with a Greek salad, tuna, and hummus with olive oil and whole wheat pita. Â
My favorite breakfast item is the Savory Breakfast Sandwich -- ham or turkey with swiss cheese on a croissant, served warm. Â
For lunch, I'm a fan of the the prosciutto panini and the falafel sandwich. Â
I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but it's a good spot to grab a bite to eat if you're in the area.
This place kind of found me a week or two ago and I've been back four times since then. I think it's a real gem and I feel sorry for all of the idiots who pack Starbucks in the morning when this place offers fresh, quality menu items every day. Plus, I think it's important to support local small businesses, especially when their offerings include vegetarian items. Most Americans don't understand good food anyway, as is evidenced by all of the McDonald's bag toters back to my office every day. For the small minority that do, please check out Caffe Cafe.
Review Source:If I were just just passing by, I wouldn't give this place the time of day. But it's convenient to those who work in the building. Co-workers of mine love this place; I however, only want to go here to fill up my stamp card for a free sandwich. But really, I have only found myself here twice in the past four months. Why? It's pretty darn expensive for the first meal of the day. The sandwich was good (I think I had the breakfast croissant with eggs and bacon), but nothing really awesome for the price. The sandwich and the coffee meal was something ridiculous like $7. That's not how I want to start my morning. If you want to bring it up to a $9 breakfast, substitute the coffee with the grapefruit juice. What really bothers me is that all their stuff seems to be pre-made. Like you place an order for a breakfast sandwich, they hand you your coffee, you go over to put sugar in it, and when you are done, BAM! the sandwich is ready, no sizzling noises or anything. That bothers me. A !
lot. I've also had the pastrami sandwich. $9? really? It's a bad pastrami sandwich, with a pickle on the side, and some deli chips. It's definitely not worth it, unless, like I said, you work in the building, and its either raining cats and dogs, or you are too hungover and running late.
I'm bumping this up one more star. I just had their falafel pita and it's pretty rockin. The falafel isn't as good as the falafel in my neighborhood but it fills the falafel craving. They also put hummus in the pita along with a yogurt sauce, tomatoes and cucumbers. You can sub pasta or potato salad for chips.
Review Source:It was a unanimous decision to come check this place out after we had seen the menu from someone who was passing them out nearby. The place was pretty crowded, but we managed to get a seat at noon. My friends ordered roast beef and tuna sandwiches, while I opted for the turkey wrap, which came with chips and a pickle. The wrap was pretty basic, but was very satisfying. I would definitely come back and try one of their side salads and other breakfast items. Am planning on trying their coffee as well. Looks like a great selection. If you are looking for a good place to have a nice sandwich and coffee in the Loop, I would definitely check this place out.
Review Source:I go here because I'm nearby a lot. They have decent bagels for breakfast at a price that isn't too horrendously marked up. They also have fresh fruit which makes breakfast a little healthier.
You can also get a tasty breakfast sandwich here.
They have your typical coffee, sandwiches, salads and soup. I had a cream of asparagus soup the other day that was okay, but it did the job.
