Greatest place for Niner games. Â Love the staff. Â Love the food. Â Great and friendly atmosphere. Â Nolan and Mama got it going on.
I even asked them if they could open early for us one morning to get a jump on game day libations and they happily accommodated us.
I always eat the Kalbi and eggs, loco moco or burgers for lunch. Â All great.
I was expecting this place to be more dive-y considering what it looks like on the outside, but was pleasantly surprised to see how nice it is on the inside. You get a pretty good amount of food with the $9 burger and fries, though the burger isn't particularly special--just a patty, tomato, lettuce, and onions. I'd like to come back and try the tater tots or nachos. The drinks are good, tasty, and strong. There's a pool table and TVs. I'd come back for sure.
Review Source:I would've gave it a 5 only if my friends had good service as much as I do. It's like drinks are always wrong and foods are never ordered right away when I go here with my other friends. I'm here like every other Saturday so that could be why I get good service, lol. I suggest to bring your own darts just like any other bars with a dart section. Gets really busy and loud on Friday and Saturday nights.

Review Source:Soooooo disappointed. I love coming here just to play some darts and maybe karaoke every once in a while with my friends. And normally, we get pretty decent service. However, I have chose to come here twice to watch UFC fights and have been completely disappointed both times.
The first time, it took about 20 minutes for our server to get to us. Food took way over half an hour since we ordered it. And as someone who works in the industry, it was so difficult to leave a decent tip because I had no idea who our server was, or if we even had one.
The second time our server greeted us right away, brought us our beers, and mine was completely frozen. I couldn't get a single drop of beer out of it. Waited for her to come back, and basically, by the time she came back, lets just say my beer was no longer frozen and my boyfriend had already had an empty beer. She came by to grab the empty beer bottle and didn't even stay to take our order. We were starving! After about 10 min with no drinks, an older lady who I think may work in the kitchen, came to take our order. She was so nice. We got our food and drinks right away. And the girl working at the door also came to check on us every once in a while. All in all, I gave more than one star because of the lady who helped us and the girl at the door. Plus I could tell it wasn't entirely our servers fault....they were obviously understaffed. Never coming here to watch a fight again.
I pretty much live here. Alissa, Lauren, Jon, Brandon, Will, Lisa & Nolan are all amazeballs. Sorry I'm not sure what all the workers names are, but they're all great (even the new girls, usually)! I'm here throughout the week... early, late, whenever I have the time (except weekends, I'd rather not be in here when it's a crazy-buzy bar). They have good drinks, great servers, and great food. Just don't park in the stalls marked 5OCEAN, because your car will probably get towed. Overall, win! (:
Review Source:I'm very glad, and very grateful that Champion's has owners who listen.....
nothing makes better business than owners who listen to their customers and do the best they can to try and make them happy - everybody knows its hard to please all the people all the time! Â
that being said - they have made improvements to their pool table!! : Â
+ now they have new-ish felt!
+ the table rolls much better b/c it is much more level!
also: Â
+ the food is still good!
if you head over here - be sure to try the FURIKAKE WASABI GARLIC CHICKEN. Â this one is dope. Â the wasabi is not too strong... it's almost not there at all - but this is ok b/c no one wants wasabi to overwhelm the other flavors.
yakisoba is tasty, the loco moco is pretty huge, and don't forget the tator tot nachos and fried pork chops!
thanks Champion's for taking customer service seriously!
TERRIBLE SERVICE!!
A group of us went here on a Friday night to get pupus and drinks. Â My husband and I got there early so we sat down. Â NO ONE came and helped us at all! Â We moved to a booth and the rest of our party got there and still no one helped us. Â We then walked up to the bar to attempt to order a drink. Â The bartender wouldn't acknowledge that we were waiting. Â After about 15 minutes of waiting, we finally all walked out and left. Â I would not recommend this place to anyone. Â They have a great bar, looks clean and inviting, but then the staff sucks and can't do their job. Â If they are that shorthanded, they should think about hiring more people to work for them. Â The rate they are going with service, I wouldn't doubt they close down in the near future.
Great happy hour specials! 12-8pm!
$5 Pupus (French fries, edamame, beef quesadilla, wings) great beer specials..
They have tatter tot nachos! Sooo good! It's a must try!
Karaoke, pool, darts! Great place to chill after work or just to catch up with friends!
Bad part: quality of service! Servers do not check up on you!!! Even if no one is in the place :/
If you love nachos and you love tater tots, try their tater tot nachos. I grab a few of my girlfriends and we grub out on their different happy hour food/drink specials. Love the kalua pork quesadillas, the fried rice, actually, all of their food is awesome! If you like fruity drinks, try their mango soju! If you're a karaoke king/queen, check this place out for their $1 songs. Good environment. Will be back soon!
Review Source:sunday breakfast is bomb cuz its the breakfast of champs! duhh good place, very spacious. Had a party here and everything was good. Staff is always prompt and the drinks are always strong. Isent that all anyone needs in a bar? plus private parking for those maybe i should catch a cab home instead of driving nights cuz there are a-fricking-bundance of cops in that hood
Review Source:When we first tried Champions (right after they opened), we thought the food was just OK. Happy to say that we gave them another try when football season started up this year and the food is much improved. The service is pretty good too for a sports bar. If you haven't tried Champions lately, I highly recommend a second look. The owner, Nolan is always very friendly and makes us feel at home. I'm very glad we decided to come back and now we have a new home for NFL Football viewing. Go Vikings!
Review Source:So I parked right In front myself and was still charged valet ... To a dive dark sports bar . When did we get so fancy anyway with valet at football time ?? Anyway , good sports fans come here so it's fun, mostly men. I heard it may be a k b bar so I hope not, gross. I can't enjoy food or drinks there if so. I keep waiting for good food here but it's like a portion of it is really good and the other parts like the bacon will be under cooked . The tater tots with meat is tasty. I guess I'll try one of those sizzling plates that popular to evaluate that next time . It's a weekly spot for my friends . I prefer a bar with more natural light , a little bit more at least so I don't feel like I'm on a dive bar On a weekend morning
Review Source:I would never come here on a night that bartenders Daniel or John weren't working. Â The service is terrible otherwise. Â Having been in the industry myself, I find myself grinding my teeth when I see waitresses standing at the well not attending customers. Â The waitresses all look like they don't know what they're doing - which leads me to think that maybe it's the management that's so bad.
Champions is a nice, spacious, clean bar. Â Their menu is pretty standard bar fare. Â The parking is a bit small for the size of the place, but they have valets on the weekends. Â This place should be much busier than it is. Â It has all the pieces but it's missing glue that holds everything together - GOOD SERVICE.
My most recent visit to Champions was last week for a friend's going away party. We got there around 8pm, and it wasn't crowded. A friend and I decided to go to the bar to order some drinks, but the two female bartenders were too busy chatting away to take our order. A male bartender came afterwards, and I placed my order for watermelon soju. We waited around again as he went to check if they had the ingredients to make it. When he returned, he said that they would start making it. We waited at the bar for a bit, but decided to go back to table empty handed because it was taking too long.
I've been to Champions a few times before last week and the experience varies with each visit. Sometimes the service is good and other times it's slow. The food, especially their fried rice, can be delicious, but it can also be too salty. Lastly, the music is sometimes too loud that you can barely hear the person sitting next to you.
I like cheap beer and TV so champions isn't a bad place. Â A few things I wasn't crazy about, Â it's super cold in there and many of the TV's are fuzzy and parking is sparse. Â With that said, I still will go back to this place cause the service is good, drinks are cheap, they have plenty of seating and plenty of tv's (even if many of then are fuzzy).
Being right on Keeamaku is pretty good. Â Easy to get to and from. Â I think the fried rice is one of the best on island. Â Last but not least, they are planning a male review, ie scantly clothed men preforming.
The food menu is large as is the vodka menu.
Cheers!
Met up with some friends for my wife's birthday recently. Â Granted, this was on a Thursday, but Friday was a holiday, so I guess that counts as a Friday.
Because the wife and I had missed dinner, we ordered the burgers (and good thing too). Â Served promptly, with the standard fare (fries and fixings) the burgers were great. Â And the other foods as well.
Wife asked for some special fancy martini drink and the bartender was able to deliver a home run (oooh, sports metaphor!).
Beers were kept topped up by a watchful staff and a good time had by all. Â I listed this place as "Inexpensive" but to be honest, that's because my wife's friends were buying for the both of us and I have no idea what the bill was.
Unfortunately, we did not try the Karaoke room (I didn't notice it until we were leaving), or the pool tables, or the darts. We just got sloshed, fat and happy, then waddled out to the car.
Because I always try to list something negative (I feel it's important to a good review), I guess I would say the parking lot is a little small, however, if you carpool, you can be the designated drunk, so go with friends.
Boo to this place only having 2 1/2stars! Came here to watch Game 5 of the NBA Finals and was shocked to see how HUGE it is inside! Booths, tables, TVs everywhere, even at individual booths, pool table & darts, and a karaoke room?! Yeah, this place is not short on space! Sat at the huge bar with my roomie and ordered a pitcher of Heineken ($12), spicy wings (yes they are actually spicy and a bit sweet. Don't worry you get a large towelette for the mess to come) and garlic fries.
The atmosphere was pleasant, the place was huge, and the food was pretty tasty. The bartender did mention that management were planning to add some things to the menu, but they do have specials different days of the week. There's parking right in front, but since this place is so close to home I'll walk there :)
Very good sports bar close to home!

my 3 stars are for saturday...
if i had to base this on friday...
they would get 2 stars.
so i just came here twice in a row this past weekend and experienced both bad and good...
on friday i went with some co-workers and we sat at a few tables...
terrible service...
not very busy either...
i chose to avoid this by going up to the bar and ordering my drinks...
the bartender was a lil abrupt, but i overlooked it because she was on it...
however, my co-worker...
she ordered a drink and noodles from 3 different waitresses...and in 30 minutes, still never received either...
she was livid, i was for her as well...
then on saturday night we went for my friends birthday...
sat at the bar...
awesome service!
and they were slammin!
if you ever go there...
stick to the bar if you want to get your buzz on!
I came here for the first time for a boxing event (Pacquiao vs. Bradley). Â They don't have much of a parking area but they do have valet parking in which you just have to pay tip. Â The cover for the event was relatively cheaper than other sports bars. Â In addition, I got to make a reservation in which other sports bars I contacted didn't allow. Â I would say it was a good first experience especially in the setting that we were at. Â We wanted to play pool but they took it off for the event so that they could clear up for more seating. Â They have TVs all over the place so you can watch form all angles no matter were you look at. Â The pupu foods that we got were pretty good; edamame, wasabi furikake chicken, fries, onion rings, etc. Â The staff and customer service is good. Â The prices are pretty decent for the good. Â They have a good amount of tables and seats available to watch games and other events. Â They also have a couple of private sections inside the bar. Â It was pretty packed by the time the main event came. Â The crowed is mostly local peeps which feels comfortable and good to me. Â I enjoyed the atmosphere as everybody in the bar was all for Pacquiao and only like 3 people were for Bradley for the boxing PPV fight. Â I liked how everybody was booing a half an hour into after the fight. Â Overall, good times when you have a group of friends over with you and a good place to watch sporting events.

Good friends + good food +(good) liquor= GOOD TIMES! Champions is a favorite spot of some of my friends because it's right around the corner (aka within stumbling distance) of their place. But besides the convenience factor they also have nightly drink specials, karaoke, a DJ on Fri & Sat nights and they have a "49ers" corner for football on Sundays.
The service can sometimes be really ridiculously slow.. I'm not sure if the waitresses have any prior experience before coming to work here but for the most part at least they're nice. The food is a little pricey but that usually helps meet the $20 minimum to use a debit/credit card.
Bottom line is: the chicken wings are bomb, the beer is cold, and the (women's) bathroom is clean & well lit! and those factors (especially the clean ladies room) are what keep me coming back every few weeks.
Been here the other night...and from past experiences and yelping i'll raise this one star...
The service has gotten a bit better, which they are more friendly, but i just wished the waitress would come back with our damn order! she would take our order, walk out and we would be waiting then another guy would come in, and we would order from him and get it in an instant... man o man. +1 for being more friendly to their customers, but come'on at least remember my drink order!
This bar has a chill atmosphere with a local crowd. Â There are several beers on tap and prices are average. Â The food is pretty good.
It usually is not too packed so finding a table to sit at is not a problem. Â There are karaoke rooms, pool tables, and dart boards. Â There is also a punching game like the kind they have in arcades. Â Good drunken fun.
The parking lot is small and is valet only. Â I normally park on the street.
If I go to Champions, it's almost always for a NFL game. Â I'm a Niners fan and there's normally a large pro S.F. crowd here. Â A Â variety of beers are available including one of my favorites Newcastle. Â MMMMM.
During our last visit, we put a couple of tables together for our group, sat down in the comfortable chairs and got our sports bar experience under way. Â Both of the waitresses who served us were nice. Â It did take some effort to flag them down initially, largely because they were understaffed for the afternoon game on Thanksgiving. Â As far as food goes, I've only tried the spicy chicken wings which were decent. Â My main gripe was the inattentive bartender. Â Why was she moving in slow motion and ignoring customers waiting at the bar if the waitresses were hustling and trying to make up for the fact that Champions was understaffed? Â Not cool. Â
We all had good vantage points to watch the game, especially with televisions scattered throughout the room. Â While valet parking is available, you might also get lucky and score a parking space on Young St.
"you can't judge a book by the cover" is what I think of Champions. Although the outside looks a little "ghetto" the
I love the atmosphere here! It's chill but can be a "party" if your in the mood. Good vibes, drink specials, and ono kine grindz!
The pork chop is my favorite! Meat+beer is a good night for me!
If your a CROWN lover, on Wednesday nights they have $3 crown shots,
and $4 mixed drinks!
Champions plays all sports games-basketball, football, etc. Plus they play all the MMA ! Great for big party's!!!
I was at Champions at 8 am to watch the 49er game with my BF. The Kalua pork omelet was good but a little greasy. The sweet bread french toast was mushy and Liliha Bakery's has yet to be topped. Breakfast left me still wanting more... then it got worse.
The coffee was AWFUL so I ordered a bloody mary, although I'm not sure there was any vodka in it.
By halftime I was done - the average food and lack of good beverages plus my general disinterest in the 49ers lead my lovely BF to say "You can go home if you want." THANKS BABE.
Champion's is the epitome of the phrase "Jack of all Trades, Master of None". Â
This place has everything...a private karaoke room, 6 dart boards, a pool table, loud as a club music, flat-screens on the walls, a fully stocked bar, good food coming out of the kitchen, valet parking and cute Asian girls taking your drink orders. Â Sounds too good to be true? Â Kind of, but not really. Â
With loads of booth style seating reminiscent of any korean drinky-drinky bar, you'd think this place is perfect for interesting dinner conversations...and you'd be correct. The twist is that when the DJ starts to spin the speakers drown out any sound that doesn't make that familiar techno sound, "OOM TSS OOM TSS OOM TSS". Immediately upon hearing the intoxicating beat you want to get up out of your seat and find the dance floor....OK, wait. Where's the damn dance floor at? There is no dance floor. That's fine, I'll play darts.
The electronic dartboards and pool table are located in a seperate room that is also furnished with a claw game, chairs and a ledge for holding your drinks attached to the wall. Â You can't escape the music, but maybe the game room distractions will ease your urge to dance. Â You rack 'em up and start a game of 8 ball, only to find the "bull line" for the dart boards is right next to the pool table. Â Most of the dart players are into their game and don't notice you trying to position your cue stick between them. Â So you shimmy in between two drunkards to take your shot, and just as you do one of them bumps into you, sending the 8 ball into the pocket. Â This is no fun. Â That's fine, I'll check out the Karaoke Room.
The music from the DJ is still loud, even in the separate karaoke room, your rendition of "Don't Stop Believing" sounds like a DJ Pauly D Mash-Up. Â No bueno. Â That's fine, I'll eat some food. Â
The food is good. ALLAHU AKBAR!! I went here for my cousin's party last night, and he pretty much had every item on the menu http://www.yelp.com/biz_… for us in a huge spread of buffet proportions. The Ahi Belly was the star of the night, it's soft texture and clean taste was complimented by the capers pretty nicely. The fried pork hash was another hit, while the pork chops were a pube hair above average. The catered food meant I didn't have to pay, so the expectation of "food you know you paid for" wasn't there. That's fine, I'll go to the bar.
$3 domestics are a good deal, but I was drinking my usual vodka-press. Â $5 for a well drink is...somewhat average. Â That's fine, I'll drive home
The somewhat averageness of Champions can either add to an already awesome night or snowball into a major suckfest, depending on how your feeling that night. Â Saving this joint from 3 star mediocrity is it's Ahi belly and other palatable pupu platters. Â That's fine, I'll stop writing now.
#Yelp 365 - 020/365
FYI It's better to just valet your car on a Saturday night ... it's by tips only, and the people that run it are pretty nice. Â Unless you want to park it by Zippys and walk.
I'm not exactly sure what the shot was that we took. Â But it was a whiskey, and it tasted how my earring cleaning solution smells. Â It's a weird analogy. Â It went down pretty heavy, and it kept on tasting weird after I burped. Â Not a good feeling. Â It also didn't help that I'm still recovering from Friday night's galavanting. Â And no chaser. Â Aren't you proud of me? Â
Oh yes, garlic fries and porkchops!! Â I pretty much just really wanted to eat when I got to Champions, and eat we did. Â We agreed on the porkchops ... because Jed recommended them and because Eugene was supposed to hang out with us but didn't. Â That kid loves porkchops. Â And just a side note: whenever I go out and there are garlic fries on the menu there is a 98% chance that I will order them and devour them. Â The porkchops were cooked awesomely. Â And yes that is a word. Â It was a pretty hearty serving for $13. Â Me and Kawika can eat a lot, but I found myself stuffed.
This review is strictly for their food, which my BF had the unfortunate circumstance of bringing home from an outing with the boys.
He brought home two huge servings of garlic edamame and fries. Â The edamame had been properly boiled, but there was barely any hint of garlic dat I could taste (not without inhaling a mouthful of the minced garlic)! Â The soybeans hasn't absorbed any hint of the garlic. Â The fries were barely cooked; had no hint of crispiness and could've stayed in the fryer longer.
In total: the food sucked & I'm so hoping he didn't have to pay an arm, leg, and second kidney for it.
Okay, I am sorry I recommended this place in a talk thread and I am doubly sorry that I subjected my visiting cousins to this place. Â I've been here a couple of times before and even celebrated part of my birthday here, so I thought I knew what to expect: decent prices, good food, easy (valet) parking, and no problems finding a table. Â It was the unexpected that pretty much ruined my experience here. Â The SUPER loud hip hop/pop music and the questionable final tab.
I got to Champions around 8 pm on a Friday night and had no problems getting in and finding a big table (we had a group of nine. Â We had two waitresses, a surly one that disappeared after we asked for water, and Sierra, who was pretty nice until the other group asked for an itemized bill. Â I think one reason why some reviewers compared Champions to a hostess bar is because some of the waitresses are wearing skimpy Hooters-like uniforms (not all wear them though).
Food was decent. Â We had the typical local bar food assortment (edamame, french fries, gizzards) and two pitchers of Kirin. Â The total came out to $54, which seemed reasonable... only thing was, there was no itemized receipt to check. Â The other half of our group got a tab of 90-something dollars. Â They got an itemized tab (upon request) that showed 5 pitchers of beer. Â They had only had four!
Mood was a little sour after that, but what really drove me crazy was the DJ that came in to start playing around 9 o'clock. Â What do you need a DJ for when there's no dance floor? Â Eh? Â I had to yell in order for the person next to me to hear me. Â So not a good thing when the whole purpose of coming out was to hang (and talk) with my cousins.
One thing that was really cute was the owners sitting at a table eating lychee and watching the sports highlights. Â I hope they don't make themselves deaf with the loud music. Â My ears were still ringing an hour later.
Champions, usually a name synonymous with, well, a champion. Far from it, Champions Sports Bar and Grill does not deliver on all levels of being a bar and grill.
The Story:
It's the UFC 98 fights between Rashard Evans and Lyoto Machida. Pretty good day to go to a sports bar. The gang decided to go to Champions Sports Bar and Grill to try someplace new to watch this great fight.
Valet parking is the only option, we pony up the keys to our car and walk to the front door; immediately greeted with a $10 cover charge to watch the fight...ok no biggie, most places are charging cover because it's a pay-per-view event. So we pay the guy and walk in, only to look around and see a "reserved" sign sitting nicely atop numerous empty tables/booths.
A waitress comes over and says it'll just be a minute we're setting up the tables for the fight. Mind you it's 2:40pm and the fight starts at 3pm. What kind of sports bar sets up 20 minutes before a major sports event? Whatever...we'll wait.
The minimal staff usher in fold-able chairs and tables, throw a cloth over the pool table and seat us next to a dartboard, ok view of one of the 2 TV's that were gracing the walls of the recessed room that usually contained pool sharks and dart fiends.
We finally got a seat it's 2:50pm we got 10 minutes to get some drinks and order some food before the fight. So we sit and wait...and wait...and wait...and finally the waitress shows up carrying, tape and paper. They were numbering the tables as to not get confused as to what table ordered what; so still setting up 10 minutes before the fight.
So we wait some more and still nobody comes by to see if we are even thirsty, at a BAR! So my friend says, "Screw this!" and walks up to the bar to order his Monster energy drinks.
He comes back empty handed, explaining that even if you go to the bar you can't order directly from the bartender.
Are you nuts? You can't order from the bartender, what the hell is wrong with this place? Â He had to leave his order so the waitresses that were tending, or should I say ignoring us, could place the order.
Finally she comes around, takes our drink orders and some food orders and the scurries off to we don't know where.
Meanwhile, while all this non-waitress stuff was happening the fight is beginning, or should have begun. The same guy that took our money at the door was fiddling with the TV box trying to get the fight to work, we were watching a black screen trying to imagine what was actually happening in the undercard events.
I could see him in the distance getting flustered that he couldn't make the TV work, to make things even better a blatant message comes across the screen that says to call customer service. Â It looked to me like somebody perhaps, FORGOT to order the fight!
Soon enough I see him call up customer support, of course he has to go through the auto answering machines and voice activated commands before he can actually order the thing. Finally after waiting a dreary 10 minutes staring at a black screen the fight appeared.
At least something sorta went right, for now.
Still no food or drink, 15 minutes after the order...you'd figure it's not that hard to get a drink order, but maybe the food will take a 'lil while.
25 minutes later she comes back with the drinks. Thankfully. So we ask about our food; the response we get is, "The kitchen is backed up so it's going to be a while." Kitchen backed up? We only ordered 1 dish that really needs to be cooked, pork chops. The rest were constant of poke (RAW), edamame (100% microwaved by Champions kitchen), and French Fries...really McDonalds can make fries in 2 minutes.
So she leaves and comes back with the poke 5 minutes later...duh! After about 45 minutes of watching the fights, all our food comes out, and not brought by our server, these items looked to be brought out by the cooks or something of the sort. Or server was nowhere to be found.
The Review:
Consensus: Horrible. I think I speak on behalf of everyone in our party that this place is an epic FAIL!
Food: Didn't eat any because it took umpteen hours to get it; that by the time I got it I was didn't want to have anything to do with it.
Service: One of the worst services I've had, EVER.
Ambiance: Not bad, actually looked like a sports bar, except for of course the area where we were sitting, folding tables set up next to the dart boards with a cloth over the pool table to make room for extra bar goers who wanted to watch the fight.
Cost: Unbelievably expensive for a sports bar. The waitress also tried to add on extra drinks that we did not order. Who the hell at our table had a shot? I think we'd remember if someone took a shot by themselves. Damn did you drink 8 Monsters? I think you'd be bouncing off the roof by now. Check your bill before paying!
I have visited Champions Sports Bar on another occasion over a year ago and I do not remember much about it, as my friend and I stayed for only one beer. Â My friends were drinking there last night so I decided to meet up with them after I got off of work.
This bar looks very clean and modern. Â The colors and lighting that they use here give off that contemporary feel, and I would have to say this is more of an upscale sports bar. Â Many booths are available with many TV screens on the wall and some screens even in the booths. Â Pool table and darts available in the corner room. Â Even had a private room that looked like it was a karaoke room? Based on looks, I like.
It was a Sunday night and there were not many patrons in the bar. Â Approximately three groups of about four and then more people sitting at the bar. Â Two cocktail servers and two bartenders were working for a fairly slow night. Â The servers were very attentive and was pretty much on it.
They have a pupu menu that seemed to be served until late. Â My friends ordered the steak and while I was not hungry and didn't have any, it looked good served with mushrooms and onions. Â They must have like it because they scarfed it down. Â Other items on the menu seemed good. Â It was a typical bar menu in my opinion.
They do have happy hour specials and nightly deals so maybe people should keep that in mind for price savings.
All in all, I had a fun time here. Â We even got lucky because someone left some money in the mega touch machine, so we played for free. Â I would definitely return, probably not on a busy night just because this place seems better on a slower night. Â
Some things to note, they have a pretty extensive flavored vodka selection, especially the Three Olives brand, which is not so common in other sports bars. Â If that's your kind of thing. Â And if you have no shame in singing and belting it out in front of everyone, they have karaoke.
Well, let me just say that the service here is some of the worst that I have ever experienced in Hawaii. Â On my last visit to Champion's with some friends to watch a MMA fight, Â we waited about an hour before most of our food arrived. Â
What made this night memorable was our missing order of pork chops. Â After our other food had arrived, we kept on asking our waiter throughout the night where our pork chops were. Â Her only response each time was that she would check with the kitchen. Â After the main event for the fight ended, I figured that the kitchen had just lost our order. Â Just when we were about to ask for the check and head out the door, our waiter comes out with our pork chops.
This is the only time that I have left a place without leaving any sort of tip.
I always receive great service at Champions because I have 3 things going for me:
1. I never go when it's busy (usually before 11pm)
2. I am a regular
3. I tip well and the servers know it.
The food is much better now than it was before a year and a half ago. My particular favorites are their Loco Moco and Chicken Wings and most of their menu is pretty solid IMO.
Unfortunately, their dartboard/pool room still has the same annoying layout in which players must tip toe around each other when people are playing pool and darts at the same time. Hence, I only come here during the weekdays while it's slow.
Beers are cold and cost $3. Food is yummy. Dartboards are many. I'm a happy man here.
This place may be named Champions but it's no winner at all. Â I've been here a few times and man the service sucks. Â The first time was brutal! The cocktail waitress seemed like she was mad and yuppp I was right. I flagged her down and she comes up to me and says...
Girl: What do you want?
Me:....... Um. Can I please get a jack diet?
Walks Away.
Me: Thank you???
The other times i came here it wasn't as bad as the first but it was either really hard to get a drink, or it took the servers a long time to get the drink to our table which was like what? 20 steps away?
Note to self. Get drinks myself.
Anyways if you do come here and it's not so busy, you'll probably get some decent service and have the courage to order something to eat... like the pork chops for instance =0)
Ordered the pork chops and it was so-so. Still, nothing like Colin Nishidas pork chop but good. I somehow got my friend Tori to love the pork chops served here.... but man, she should definitely try the ones at SSI.
The food's alright, the service isn't up to par and what sucks as well is parking. There's no street parking on young street since there's Krazy Karaoke down the road, and Cheer Station next door. So yeah... Meh... I've experience better.
