YUMMY chicken inn with some hot sauce and ketchup and a fine glass of American wine ( RC) the only way to eat it !

My only regret is that I didn't try this establishment sooner after driving by here for years.  The chicken was perfectly seasoned, breaded, and cooked.  Carry out only, this is an excellent place to pick up an all American favorite dish to take home.  Ask for the barbeque sauce, it has a kick to it that's great.  The sides consisting of cole slaw, bread and broasted potatoes were pretty good.

Some of the best chicken on the Northwest Side.  Sure one could drive 45 minutes south to get better chicken, but why bother?  This hits the spot and always a crowd pleaser.

The side orders are okay, I think the onion rings are good, but otherwise not much else on the menu to talk about.  I think the chicken nuggets (i.e., chuggets) are weak at best.  Skip 'em.

Chicken Inn has been here forever so they must be doing something right.  Take out only.  Parking is limited but works.  Retro atmosphere is not the way I would describe it.  More like, badly in need of a renovation.  Everything is just old.  That's ok, but not cool and retro as one reviewer described.  It's all about the food right.

We ordered 50 pieces of chicken and potatoes for a kids birthday party. We picked it up right on time and drove it directly home.  No delays.  We liked the chicken. The chicken was tender and delicious with a flavorful light breading.  It's been many years since we ordered from here because we didn't like the potatoes last time.  Another reviewer said his  had "a bit of a crunch on the outside and creamy in the middle."  That would be great.  Perfect.  Exactly how I like them.  Our were wet and soggy and a little under done in the middle.  That's how they were years ago and that's how they were today.  No one, and I mean no one, not even the kids ate more than one bite of the potatoes.

My wife wanted to give it four stars because she liked the chicken, and I said one star so we settled on two.  Back to Browns I guess.

The first time I came here over a year ago, had I wrote a review on Yelp, I would have given this place 4 stars; 1 star less for their location and parking.

That said, the last two visits were forgettable; the first being I thought that the chicken was stale (perhaps because I came at around 3-4ish and I got the back-end of the lunch rush?), but no matter, as I enjoyed the chicken the first time I came here.  Alas, the last time I was here, not only did the chicken taste stale, but I thought it was really greasy.  Stale.  Greasy.  Can these two actually go together?  I guess it can.  Don't know if I'll come back here, and I guess I can't share the same sentiment as other 5 star reviews have, but I doubt I will give it another chance.  Caveat emptor!

The Chicken Inn has a very cool retro sign and a lot of great reviews so I had to try it one night when I was desperate for a quick, close, good take out meal.

Its a tiny storefront pick up basically....  I tried the chicken & ribs combo with broasted potatoes per many other reviewers.     I have to tell you - I thought it was just ok.   After the glowing reviews I had pretty high expectations, and it came in as a bit disappointing.      The chicken was pretty darn ok, just not great.   It was moist and there was a decent amount of meat which are two positives..    They give you coleslaw which I tried a bite of - and thought was really bland.    The ribs were again - pretty darn "ok".    The broasted potatoes everyone raves about on here were not bad at all - just nothing in my opinion to write home about.

I guess I was just expecting more.   Would I go back....hmmm.  Well, I would probably go back if I had a rare craving for that type of chicken... because there really isn't any great competition around here  (to my knowledge) for that type of food.
I also would totally consider them for catering!   Since I do think their chicken was pretty good - I would definitely consider ordering large quantities for a party - where I add my own sides/salads.    I think people would be satisfied.

Nut nut - I'm going to give this place a solid 3.  Not bad.  Just not extraordinary.

Food was very good. Chicken is moist and crispy. On the downside, I ordered a rib/chicken combo and they forgot about the chicken. Very disappointing to pay full price and only get half the meal. Seeing as this was my first time here, this didn't leave the best impression. I don't plan on returning.

Doesn't get better than the Inn of Chicken! If you haven't tried it yet, you are missing out!

It never fails, you can't please everyone all of the time. I have been going here since I moved out to Des Plaines in 1976. I guess the lower reviews were done by people that had a bad experience. I have never had one here. The Chicken is always great! The Potatoes are really good too, they have a bit of a crunch on the outside and are creamy in the middle. I've never had any sides or Cole Slaw so I can't speak for them.

Call in your order and it will be ready in 15-20 minutes, and they take credit cards so while you are getting some kick ass chicken you can get some miles too!

Hard to get into the parking lot after a good snow storm because of the angle and size of the lot, but worth the extra effort because of the chicken!

Wow, I was so happy to find this place.  My wife and I have driven by this place plenty of times.  We did a random Yelp check on our iPhone as we were driving by the other day, and couldn't wait to try it out a few days later.  The chicken was PERFECTLY cooked.  Nice and crispy and a little greasy on the outside, and tender and moist on the inside.
The coleslaw was good, the broasted potatoes were good, and the rolls were just fine.
    The chicken was PERFECT.
    We will be back...a lot.

I hosted a super bowl party this evening and ordered Chicken Inn as the main dish. I was able to pre-order two days prior and whoever answered the phone was very friendly and the process took all of two minutes. Only thing was, I ordered a 50 piece box and wasn't sure if they might have heard me say 15 piece. I called again yesterday just to confirm and they were again friendly, fast, and able to pull up my order to confirm it was in fact for 50 pieces.

When I picked it up today it was ready right on time with no waiting.

My guests were extremely pleased with the chicken and of course I was as well.

Thank you for helping to make my party a hit! Everyone loved it!

Bottom line, if you have a taste for fried (technically broasted) chicken you can't go wrong with Chicken Inn. It's the best I've ever had. And if you're looking for fried chicken for catering and you're in the area, it would be a bad decision to go anywhere else.

This place is absolutely fabulous, granted it's a hole in the wall chicken joint that most people fail to notice. The chicken is always crispy and juicy and the portions are perfect. They also have yummy sides too (cheddar broccoli bites? yes please). Always my local go-to place for some cheap, yummy and quick food.

WTH happened!!?!!?!? READ BEFORE YOU GO!

Been frequenting this place for 8 years and today I got the soggiest chicken of my life.  Absolutely no crunch, no seasoning, plain bland blah chicken way worse than the chains!

I hyped this place up to my friend and I felt so bad she gave it a 2/10.

I called and asked a simple question right off the bat... How long has the chicken been sitting? (I picked up at 7:30 pm nowhere close to closing time)  After a couple of comments the girl couldnt answer me and after I prodded enough they said "not long".

I believe I heard the girl on the phone talk to the owner or manager... To the owner or manager why couldn't you have just taken the phone and made it right to this loyal customer???? You know your chicken sucked on 1/3/2012!!!! Seriously not sure if your broaster is broken? or you ran out of cornstarch?? Just fix it because literally I'm going to tell all my fat ass friends to not go there anymore (I'm mass texting them all right now)

Offered me a credit probably should've taken it but w.e. I'll take my business elsewhere.

Never again! You will be missed :(

If you like broasted chicken, GO HERE! Before you get out of your car you will start to drool from the delicious scents in the air.

It's basically a hole-in-the-wall where you order your food and take it home. However, the chicken is the best I've had in quite a while. The potato wedges are perfectly seasoned and even the slaw was damn good.

Soda is RC cola products in cans.

Price cannot be beat for the value.

Be aware that the parking isn't great, as the lot entrance is off Milwaukee. Getting in is easy, getting out....well wait for a gap in traffic.

Here's the thing with this place. The place is smaller than a hole in the wall (and even less appealing). The staff (or at least my "helper" was completely checked out. The food packing is sub-par.

"So, WTF you givin' it five star for??"

THIS IS THE BEST CHICKEN EVER. And I say this after celebrating a Chicken binge this past weekend, where I sampled at least 10 different chicken places. Seriously, folks. try the food. Consider the rest as a karmic balance for the deliciousness that will eventually enter your body. Broasted chicken, man. Broasted. Chicken. Man.

Let me map it out for you:
The outer area (skin) is crispy and offer just enough seasoning to elevate the flavor without to much grease and salt. The interior (meat) is moist, tender and perfectly cooked. Chicken is a delicate subject. It takes skill to cook it through, evenly, to the bone. Particularly avoiding dryness and over-cooking. The chicken is fantabulous. Perfect.

Normally, I'm a stickler for service. S.T.I.C.K.L.E.R. but I'm willing to [sometimes] overlook such things for effing-good food. This is it.

    Thank me later.

P.S. There's no "dine-in" so you can save your "best behavior" for another place. Take this home, forget utensils, have a blast.

Oh Chicken Inn, you sneaky, sneaky bastard...

I thought I knew all the good spots in Chicago when it came to deep fried bird.  From an early age, Uncle Remus and Harold taught me well.  I even got an informal education with a couple of visits to that seedy character Hienie.  Later still, I got an eye opening international tutorial from the folks at Great Seas and Crisp, but none of that prepared me for the magic that is Chicken Inn's broasted bird.

I learned that broasting is kind of like what happens when deep frying makes a baby with the pressure cooker (as pointed out by my French wife- a tool that is unfortunately non-existent in most American's repertoire).  The result is a crispy exterior, juicy interior, and the absence of grease on the final product.

Don't get me wrong- I love the grease off of a freshly fried bird, but it is only like my sixth favorite thing when it comes to fried chicken...

What this means to me at least is that if the skin can be perfectly crispy, the flesh be moist and juicy, and the flavors of the seasoning are done just right- I'm not even missing that little lubricating effect the excess grease gives off.

In my experience with Chicken Inn- they nailed all three of these factors, and simultaneously destroyed the notion that ignorance is bliss.

I'm a better man today, right now, knowing the wonders that can come from properly broasting a little clucker.  None of that KFC stuff here!

Once again because of yelp I decided to give this spot a try. In all fairness the chicken was good. I also ordered the perch it was awful. The bread was stale. The potato wedge was just a big clump of potatos with no taste whatesoever. I'll return for the chicken a coleslaw but they can keep the bread and I dare not venture to try anything else on the menu.

Oh Chicken Inn, how I adore thee!   This is the absolutely best broasted chicken you will ever have! The breast meat is so juicy and tender....my mouth is watering just thinking about it! The slaw and broasted potatoes are great too. Don't know about their ribs.....why bother when the chicken is SOOOO good!

This is by far the best broasted chicken in Chicagoland!  Highly Recommend this food!  Convenient to call ahead and pick up.  Unfortunately they are only open on weekend plus Friday for lunch pick up.    Great Food!  A+

This is my absolute favorite fried chicken place!!!  And I normally stay away from this stuff!  My mom used to pick up take out from this place all the time when I was a kid.

    Another Chicago area food memory....

Once you try chicken from this place, you will never want KFC ever again! It's always fresh and the batter that they use is so flavorful.

I love their spuds! They are essentially the whole potato cut in fourths.  They are huge. So come hungry.

This is a takeout only establishment, which makes it a great option for family meals.

Some of the best chicken I've ever tasted! So crispy and moist! Call ahead in advance so you don't have to wait since there is isn't much room inside.

No seriously, their waiting room  is literally the size of a small hallway.  So if more than 2 people are in there, it's a tight squeeze.

But who cares when the chicken is this tasty!  I've told many people about Chicken Inn and they've all been satisfied after their first visit.

Only had their chicken and its A+++++

How have I never written a review for Chicken Inn before today?  I've been eating from this place since I was a shorty.  It's seriously a part of many, many of my childhood memories of birthday parties and family gatherings.  A staple, if you will.

We were in most recently last weekend.  The chicken was delicious, as always.  A big box of 16 pieces for just the 4 of us.

    We like leftovers.

Sadly, the 1/2 lb of shrimp I threw into our order at the last second were terrible.  Not good at all.  And their sides leave something to be desired.

But, all that is easy to forget when there is such chicken to be had.

Majority of graduation parties, baptisms, etc. that occur in my neighborhood feature Chicken Inn, and that's for a very good reason.

It's simply delicious chicken at a great price in the neighborhood that perfectly executes a dinner for 4 to a party of 100.

    Deeeeeeelicious.

It's all been said already...yet, I'll chime in.  I had the broasted chicken at my friend's house when she had picked up tray for a party.

Tasty breading, not greasy and fried crispy.     I haven't visited ....YET but am now reminded to do so

After reading all the glowing reviews, I had very high expectations going in tonight.  I really wanted to like this place, especially since I don't live too far away and was looking forward to having a regular place for takeout chicken.  Alas, it was not to be.

Where do I begin?  The chicken was dry.  The grease seemed to be old.  The pieces were not that big, either.  My wife was not too thrilled with the coleslaw, and we weren't too excited about the fries, either.  The parking lot was empty, though it is Friday night during Lent, to be fair.

I have to give props for the look of the place.  It probably looks just as it did in 1972, when it opened.  No fancy decor, just all business, the business of chicken.  I really hope I picked an off night.  (Maybe Friday night during Lent is not the best time to go?)  They must be doing something right if they have been open for this long.

Das has me pickup a 10 piece for $14.99.  chicken is crisy, not overly battered, and wrapped nicely.  Call ahead and they will have it read in 20. Park in their tiny lot, run in, and have the ketchup ready for some nice eating when you get home

this is solely a pickup joint.  There are no chairs, not even ones to sit in while you wait, which is why calling ahead is supurb

I have been going here for years. I can't believe this is the first time I have reviewed them.

I went with the chicken buffet. The chicken was very good. It was juicy and had great flavor.

The buffet also came with fries and coleslaw. The fries were OK. The coleslaw was great! It was creamy with just the right amount of spices.

The location is only take out or delivery.

    I will be returning again.

My brother adores this place and always gets it when he's in town. Sadly, I always see him get it but I never try it despite how much I adore fried chicken. After scarfing two sweet cream puffs on the way home last night, I had a terrible craving for some salty, crispy, moist, delicious chicken. Yeah, I could've settled for one of the chain chicken joints . . . but I wanted really GOOD chicken (like homemade fried chicken chicken)-- so I decided to finally take my own trip here.

Oh, thank goodness I did! The chicken is broasted (which means it's pressure cooked then deep fried), and it really IS as good as the brother says it is. It's crispy on the outside, so moist and juicy on the inside, and completely flavorful throughout. Yes, it's pricier than those chain chicken places, but it's SO worth it. These are true chicken people. You can tell they're all about the chicken. And I am all about Chicken Inn.

    I may have found a caterer for my wedding . . .

Really, really good chicken joint in a small strip mall near Niles/Chicago border. As people have mentioned it is just take out or delivery. I've driven by this place hundreds of times and finally gave it a try and it is one of the best pieces of chicken I've had in a long time. It's broasted and juicy all throughout. Just very, very good. I thought about giving it only 4 stars because the sides are not so great--but the chicken is so damn good. Just get the chicken boxes and call it a day. If you want a side, then just get another piece of chicken on the side.

Can't go wrong with any of the chicken from this place. Great, juicy, tasty, flavorful chicken.

Oh Chicken Inn, Why are you so good? This is by far my favorite chicken ever! I am known to order a 16 piece just to eat 4 while it's hot, then save the rest for the fridge for cold chicken...which only lasts about 12hours. This is seriously the tastiest chicken around. I usually don't get the sides...With chicken like this, there is no need to waste space :)

Now, my future better half will not let me eat here all of the time, but when I do...watch out!

Fast service, always friendly, price is just about right.

In this case the 5 stars is for the chicken. The sides are ok, but that chicken.... omg, YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

We stopped here once a while ago when I had a coupon to try it out and was surprised to find a basic store front with like two chairs to sit and wait for your order., but that chicken ... omg YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Today I went back and got chicken dinners for me and mom, cuz Christopher is out of town. It was a ways to drive, but that chicken ... omg YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

This is one crazy restaurant business that is an anomoly in the area...it is only delivery and take out...it is about chicken and a couple of other menu items but really just chicken.  They don't pretend to be more than what they are. But he bottom line is that the chicken is absolutely delicious, and the consistency is remarkable. Never had a complaint. The delivery times are fast and always faster than suggested when ordering. One quirky element of the menu is that they offer a cheeseburger. Now, I don't know how this could possibly be, but these are damn good burgers. Put them above the national chain offerings. The cole slaw is that creamy version -- KFC-style. A simple place that executes perfectly.

If I was on death row for burning down Mayor Daley tavern and was asked to choose my last meal, Chicken Inn would be catering the event.

That's all I really have to say about this place.  This is my favorite meal that isn't cooked by my mother or grandma.  I am so glad that they are 7.76 miles away from my current address.  Now you stalkers can find out where I live.  Come on over and let's get naked.  If I lived any close you would need a fork lift to get my fat ass out of the house.

My dad and I came to blows once over the last piece of chicken, so make sure you order enough Fried Chicken to feed a family of 17 and add some of their big potato wedges.  He claims he won the fight, but almost lost his eye in the process, plus I was only 6 so he's just a big fucking bully.  Sorry went way off topic there.  I really feel ashamed it took me over a year to write a review for this place.  It is just too hard to put into words how much I love Chicken Inn.

This is a fantastic place for chicken. On the Northwest side (in a little strip mall at Milwaukee & Harlem), Chicken Inn has been around for a long time.  Broasted chicken is what they do, and they do it better than any chicken place I've tried.  It is crispy, moist and meaty.  You can buy it by the piece.  The broasted potatoes are also very good - big thick potato wedges. Strictly take-out or delivery.
