With the exception of the pretty bad decor, I wouldn't even know where to start really in describing how ineffectual it is, Chill Wine Bar does live up to its name.  A good place to grab a drink in Beacon and get a cheese plate.  We opted for the cheese and meat platter.  I doubt anywhere else for $13 it's possible to get so much cheese and meat.  We were provided with at least 5 different cheeses and 5 different meats and olives and sundried tomatoes and hot bread. One cheese/meat platter is practically a full meal for two.

The sangria, although it could have used more fruit was pretty good.

went here a couple of times while we were in town. the music on saturday was amazing--very good jazz and there was quite a crowd for the gallery walk. the first night we happened in and it wasn't busy at all. jim, the owner, really makes the place. haven't met anyone that interesting in a long time. he made us feel very at home and gave us a bunch of places to check out in the area. super appreciated. the vibe of this bar both nights was cool in that everyone was really friendly. it's not often you go in somewhere and talk to people--actual conversations etc. usually you have to be a regular. the beer selection was really pretty good. the wine, unfortunately, was not that great. i'd stick to beer.

I love going to Chill for a quiet night with close friends.  The music is always great.
The hummus is my favorite, outside of Sahara in Brooklyn!  There is a nice selection of wines and beers - a little something for everyone.  The staff is friendly and accommodating.

I'm long overdue to catch up on review from a recent trip to upstate New York (is everything other than NYC itself called 'upstate', or am I using that wrong? Whatever. Here we go.)

Chill is a great little wine bar in Beacon, which doesn't have a lot of other drinking establishments. The food wasn't especially impressive: an unpleasant panini, and a cheese and charcuterie board with (what seemed at least *seemed* like) pre-cut salami slices. Still, the wine list was okay, and the atmosphere generally conducive to chatting over drinks.

This place needs help. The wine list is what you get at the discount liquor street down the street. Maybe my expectations were too high, but it seems like a no brainer that they should somehow team up with Artisan Wine across the street and get some decent wines in this place. As a wine bar... it is piss poor, as a bar... well, it could be ok with some decent music. The night I was in there it was like a morgue... and empty. I'll give it another try but the place needs a face lift or some vision... something.

I came into town to visit a friend that has recently moved to Beacon. We came to this bar first. I ordered the white sangria and my friend got a glass of the pinot. The white sangria was nothing like sangria. It was a puréed mango cocktail that was super sweet and tasted nothing like wine. My friend liked her Pinot. The bartender was nice.

The reason only 2 stars is the atmosphere. It was probably around 5:30 or 6pm when we went on a Thursday night and it was pretty empty so maybe I'm not giving it a fair shake. It was just us and the bartender. That's fine, I'm sure there are times when it's full. The vibe seems off. They need some help with the decor and making the place more welcoming. The concrete floors don't do well with the blue lights. For such a big space they should do more with it. Add some rugs. Brighten it up a little? Some chandeliers? Also the blue lights in the front and around the bar have got to go. The place is too big to have such cool colors.

I may go again when it's busy to check it out for real but I wouldn't recommend it.

My (now) husband and I had a "welcome event" here the night before our wedding for our guests and it was amazing!  Jim was a pleasure to work with and the food and wine were excellent.  Our guests loved the food, wine, and venue (exposed brick/wood, relaxed vibe).  We could not have been happier with the experience that Jim and his team provided - easygoing, attentive, fair, and -- most of all -- Chill.

My husband and I had stumbled upon Chill Wine Bar when we were looking at wedding venues and wanted to grab a snack.  The paninis, cheese plate and wine selection were all very enjoyable (we were introduced to some great Oregon reds).

Subsequent to our first visit, we went back with my parents and they had a great experience there too.  Would definitely recommend Chill Wine Bar and look forward to going back! Go CWB!

I recently wrote a negative review of Chill which I have now removed. After writing an HONEST review of the poor experience we had here, the owner/manager (still not sure) replied with a message and proceeded to berate me for giving said review.  He stated "If you don't like the place stay out and go someplace else" among other delights. Apparently my honesty was unbearable and he continued his woes stating "stay out of Beacon" (very classy and professional by the way). Anyway Here is my edited review so that I don't get reemed out by an overly sensitive business owner:

Bad experience. Mediocore cheese plate, cheap wine glasses, bad service.  WARNING:If you go, be sure not to express your opinion, they frown on that.

Great wine selection, reallllly good food. Love the bartenders..and their jokes. No, really, they had good jokes. I like the laid-back atmosphere also..good for a Ladies night or a few after work drinks(or a lot of after work drinks...).

First time we tried to visit, we followed the hours listed on their website.  Got there and place locked up tight as a drum.  Being that they are on Twitter, I tweeted to alert them of the error on their site - no response.

Next time we went, we just had a glass of wine.  Service fine, wine ok, food smelled good, but we didn't eat there.

Come for the space and the vibe - not really for the wine. Which is sad, because they ARE a wine bar.  So I guess it's more CHILL than WINE BAR :)

Vibe was good, the crowd was relaxed and upbeat.  Jazz band played, the vocalist had a good sound, very sultry.  Had a Pino, very tasty.  The food came out in a timely manner, was very delicious.  Meet some nice people, will venture out again.

I had never been before but heard good things. The space is great. Exposed brick, cozy tables, live jazz on Saturday night.

The wine list was good, but not mind blowing, I had hoped to see more wines from smaller vineyards,  there were a good number of high profile bottles on the list. I had decided on a glass of the Carmenere (having just seen a piece on this grape on TV but never having tried it before). When the server asked what I wanted, I asked for a glass of the Carmenere, but the fellow asked for a bottle (what's not to love?).

Here is where my only complaint comes in. The glassware was disappointing. I really thought they'd have  glasses that were more suited to different wines but they were more like pizza parlor glasses. That being said, however, the wine really was fantastic!

Highly recommend.  Bar tenders are friendly and fast.  They have a great cheese platter that is more than enough for 4.

OK...its NOT Napa Valley...but this cute wine bar is always packed on Saturday nites (JAZZ NITES) and as a people watcher...it is usually a kaleidoscopic view of all ages, races, temperments and wine loves!

They have a minimalist food selection...but its a WINE BAR, so  few tidbits are all I tried and the fare was just fine!

Signage is less than optimal...if you aren;t sure where to go...you can follow the crowd and often they are waiting on the sidewalk for a spot!

I've not had a bad experience...but I agree, on occasion the service is unpredictable.

Come meet me tonite---then we can collectively YELP!

I went in to Chill shortly after they opened, thinking that it was about time that a wine bar opened up in Beacon.  Upon entering, it looked like there'd just been a Republican rally of some sort, judging from all the people wearing political slogan buttons.  Not one easily to be deterred from enjoying a glass of vino, I soldiered on, and my hubby and I found a table and a menu.  I thought that they were seriously joking--this place makes 12 Grapes look like a Napa Valley vineyard.  I could not find one suitable wine--all the selections would've been available for under $10 at the liquor store (notice I didn't say the Artisan Wine Shop) down the street.  White Zin?  Are you kidding me?

I am really shocked by all the other 5-star ratings.  But if you actually read their reviews, does anyone mention the wine?

Surprisingly good food and of course a fantastic drink collection, all with very reasonable prices. The owners are great. This is *the* place to hang out in Beacon, especially when there's live music.

A great local hang-out.  There's live music on the weekends, the wine and beer selection is diverse and well-priced and the nibbles are so delish!!  A favorite is super-pesto-y (they adjust the pesto to your preference) hummus and their incrdible tandoori bread, the individual cheese plate, and refreshing wine ice cream.  Have yet to try the yummy sounding panninis (including the S'mores pannini!)...but there's time....
Owners Jim & Patrick and bartender Jay are the best!!

I went here after visiting Dia:Beacon art gallery.

I thought it was the perfect place to end really nice day in Beacon.

It's a really nice little wine bar in the heart of Beacon's town center with a great selection of wine, good music.  We ordered the cheese plate and it was fantastic, also they don't skimp on the servings which was awesome.

The atmosphere was very chill (hence the name) and actually very cozy too.  The owner was really  nice and friendly and help us pick out some excellent wines.

This would definitely be my first choice for people who want to relax, enjoy good wine and music .

If you're looking for noisy sports fans and TVs don't go here ;-)
