I have ordered from China House a few times, and I've always thought they were average. However, I just got lunch from there today and decided it's the last time I get food from them. First of all, when I walked in the restaurant, I almost choked myself with the horrible smell of very old, rancid oil burning. I actually couldn't stop coughing. There seems to be no ventilation in that place, and who knows how long they use the same oil for to save money. That's so unhealthy. I got the lunch special with sweet and sour chicken. The rice tasted horrible, the chicken tasted like that oil that I inhaled in the restaurant, and the egg roll tasted like it was spoiled. Â I have a pretty strong stomach, but I could feel myself getting sick while eating so had to stop eating. I agree with another review that says that this place must be violating a ton of healthy codes. How come this place is passing inspection. Don't go there for your own good. I know I'm not going back.
Review Source:Horrible service. We ordered and were told 35 min for pickup. Sounded like a good wait time considering its Christmas. So, I go to pick it up, 35 min later and it's still not ready. There were 6 other people waiting, all aggravated. So, after twenty more minutes.. I walked out. I couldn't take the poor customer service nor how rude the woman at the desk was. I did not even pay/take the food home because they were unapologetic, rude and could care less about my business. Several people were there and aggrivated. All of this would have been solved if she would had been upfront that it would be ready in an hour or whatnot.
Review Source:Found China House on Yelp. Stopped by for lunch with intent to order "to go" since it's close to work. Walked in, walked out without placing an order. Â THE PLACE IS SO DIRTY! Â Yuck! Â The glass windows/doors looked unwashed for years. Â There were a lot of leaves, dirt, and dust bunnies on the floor. Â The fan in the place had a lot of dust on it. Â You can see dust bunnies hanging off the fan and blowing in the wind! Â The place did not have chairs/tables. Â Rather, 2 stained couches from the 1960's, a coffee table (also had thick dust on it). Â Everything was just dirty, dirty, dirty! Â Ick! Â I bet this restaurant violates a lot of health codes! Â DIRTY! Â DIRTY! Â DIRTY!
Review Source:Worst experience in the entire world.
We placed a delivery order at 6:45 on a Saturday, and they told us it would be 45 min No problem right? Well we were wrong. We only ordered steamed dumplings, soup, chicken with broccoli, and beef with broccoli. After an hour and 15 minutes we called to see where our food was. The woman answered the phone with YEAH! Excuse me, but that is not appropriate. We hung up and called again. Another woman answered the phone and I asked where our food was. She asked me what my address was three times and told me it would be another 20-25 min. There is no way that they even put the order in. I told them to keep the food, and we ordered Chopstick Express (our usual spot)
We will never bother to try this place again. The people are rude and have no idea what they are doing.
Stay away!
I love China house! They have great value lunch specials although they just recently raised prices by a dollar so its $5.95 now. They have delicious crab rangoon and egg rolls. I love love love there pad Thai it is soooo good with the lemon on top. and i would recomend the sesame chicken. they always deliver so FAST and its cheap. they need to fix their grubhub online order it used to work but does not anymore
Review Source:In the past, even a few months ago, I would have given this place 4+ stars for the ingredients and flavor. But the last order I got had absolutely no taste. Wonton Soup - no taste. Fried Rice - no taste. Dumplings (steamed) - no taste.Egg Rolls, no taste. You would think I had a cold, but I don't. I think they must have a new cook because this used to be my favorite place, but the new cook must be anti-spices . The lady at the register is the same.
And, their description on the Yelp page says reservations accepted, but this is really a take-out place only.
It is so disappointing to get a bad meal at a place you recommend to others.
Pros:
-Their crab rangoon are huge! Very well filled and about the size of pigs ears.
-Delivery was fast.
-We were given a deal on the delivery cost
-Moderate portions
Cons & reason for only 2 stars:
The menu says they do not use MSG. This may be true, but they definitely use something else, for in minutes after eating the pork & broccoli, I noticed I was quickly becoming dehydrated, and water wasn't helping. Â That night, I experienced a migraine so severe that I saw spots while asleep, and the pain kept waking me up. Â I took an Excedrin-Migraine the next day to help with the pain, but even 3 days later, my brain still hurts.
I won't eat from a place I can't trust, so we won't be returning to China House Park Ridge.
Delicious!
Love their Beef and Broocoli, Seasame Chicken, Orange Chicken, Egg Rolls, Wonton Soup - WITH MEAT! (unlike a lot of places) Lo Mein, This place serves generous portions except when you get the lunch or dinner combo, they tend to fill it up with fried rice and not so much of the actual entree . . . I have noticed this a few times which is why I no longer get the combo . . . :(
It's crazy that a yummy place has so little decor. Â There are only 2 benches inside to sit in and it's all empty space. Â You could walk by this place and think that it's closing down. Â They could probably put in a few tables and chairs in there, but it's basically your carry-out Chinese restaurant. Â The difference is that this place is actually good, and not like a fast food chain. Â It's hot and fresh and the flavor is so surprisingly good. Â The menu is quite extensive for a small spot with fine chinese food. Â You can get a huge meal for $5! Â It's such a good deal, and will now be my quick go to spot for Chinese near work. Â I had the General Tso's Chicken, and I also got an eggroll. Â The eggroll was huge in portion, and very tasty as well. Â My dish had the right amount of spicyness to it as well. Â I hope this place gets more business. Â The owners seem to be very quiet and expressionless. Â They don't take credit cards, so don't forget to bring cash!
