Dessert heaven right on the City line!
As other reviewers have commented, this place can turn into a packed madhouse once springs hints. Â The product is just like any other DQ location and the staff of young people is generally well coordinated and tuned for customer service. Â The "take a number" system is essential here because the line often runs out the door. Â In addition, the front area is rather small for the crowds that the place attracts.
If oodles of screaming children with their feisty northwest side Chicago über-Irish mothers and fathers, packed together into a tiny volume, isn't your idea a great dessert experience, then you might want to either avoid the place altogether or visit off peak.  Between the customers, the workers and the various pieces of equipment that would be used to make the desserts, it's always got a noise problem.
Fortunately, this old timey location has restrooms and overall, the entire place is reasonably clean. Â The parking proper for this business is minimal and tight. I recommend parking on the street just west of North Canfield Avenue, north of West Devon Avenue. Â Even parking further up on Canfield Avenue can be helpful.
This place has seating, but I don't recommend it, because it's tight and you may have to fight for it.
Spring will be here soon enough. Â Enjoy that first trip to DQ!
This place is a great place to come for ice cream on a hot night. Staff and owner are very nice. Place is clean and yes although it is busy, they have enough employees working that the wait is not that long. There is a closer DQ to my house with drive thru, but I prefer to come here for their service and cleanliness.
Review Source:Great service and very good ice cream make this one of our families favorite places to go on a lazy Saturday afternoon. There is seating outside so you can watch cars drive by, but it's a nicer neighborhood and usually pleasant sitting out there.
There is parking in the back, but we usually park along the street.
The only downside is this store can be PACKED during the evening hours. When you arrive make sure you grab a number. They really follow the numbering scheme and it works well.
