We really wanted to like this place, but I have to say it was just so-so. We went for dinner on Saturday night, and had the place to ourselves for most of our evening, so that was nice. It is quite small inside, so you definitely don't have a lot of privacy at your table, but I loved the casual atmosphere. Napkins/silverware on the table-nice touch especially for parents! We started out with the spinach/artichoke dip, which was good, but maybe not fresh as it definitely tasted reheated-temp was not consistent throughout. I had a dinner salad which was good and my husband had the clam chowder which seemed like a big portion of soup! My daughter had a ham and cheese sandwich which was good but then our entrees are were things started to fall flat. My husband's steak just tasted....off. We eat local/organic/sustainably and buy grass-fed beef all the time, so these flavors are not new to us, however, the steak just tasted funky. Not sure if it was frozen and reheated or what, but something wasn't right. The steak itself and the sides that accompanied it were not seasoned well either. My pasta dish of chicken and spinach with cavatappi pasta was just okay, I have had better. When other tables did arrive, I heard someone try to order this same dish, but the server told them they were "out" of it for the evening. It seemed odd to me that I had just ordered that same dish, no one else came into the restaurant, yet they were suddenly out of this item. Nonetheless, we weren't impressed enough to return, which is unfortunate because I do support their cause and want them to succeed. The flavors just were not there for us. I imagine brunch/lunch could be better, but there are too many places in the city for us to go back again.
Review Source:We live right around the corner and recently discovered City Farms. Â We have already made it one of our regular places. Â We like it because it has a diverse menu - I can get a salad, and my husband can get a fancy steak dish (we don't both have to be in the mood for the same thing), its not too pricey (not cheap, but not crazy either) and the food is really good. Â I'm a big fan of the french onion soup and chicken pot pie. Â Definitely worth a try.
Review Source:What can I say about City Farms?? It's so damn good, and it's nice to be able to dig into a really delicious burger knowing that it's "clean", by which I mean, humanely raised, grass-fed and sustainable. So CF has become my new go-to burger place. Everything I've had here has been delicious - Amish chicken, salads, portabella fries (OMG -YUM!!!!), and the desserts are to die for! Especially that bourbon pecan pie with caramel sauce!!! I usually get burger delivery from CF on Fridays after I get home from my soul-sucking job, and that burger is soul-restoring. Mmmm!
I've eaten in a few times, each time bringing a friend who hasn't tried this place yet, and every person I bring loves it! The people who work here are great! The owners are also the servers, and they are just on top of everything, all the time, as you'd expect. They're also friendly and funny, and you can easily tell that they really put their all into this place - it has HEART, man!
The last time I was there, I was introducing my friend Thom to the amazingness that is the portabella fries with truffle aioli. We started bantering with the chef, and I think I almost have him convinced that he should make some fabulously delicious, sustainable fish'n'chips.
This place is an excellent, positive addition to the neighborhood, and I'm thrilled to call City Farms my new burger BFF! ;)
We came to CFMG two days after Thanksgiving, and it was totally empty. Our sever assured us it wasn't usually that way on a weekend morning, but we went with it. In general, the food was good (I struggle with Salmon eggs benedict in general - not greasy enough), maybe in the top 20% of breakfasts in Chicago. Good coffee, very friendly staff. I guess it's not like a hip neighborhood, so it might be a pain to get to. But whatevs, it's probs going to be worth it.
Review Source:This place is good. Not great, but really good and very cozy. Great concept - farm to table - and I love supporting places like this. The menu was big enough for different tastes (sweet and savory). Service was prompt. The place was empty though, and it isn't a big place to begin with. Maybe could seat 20? I really hope this business makes it and recommend giving it a try.
Review Source:We had a nice weekday brunch here before a visit to the Music Box to see a film.
The fruit bowl was pineapple and fresh berries, a lovely surprise.
The husband and I both liked the very good coffee.
Our meals were good, but a bit high priced. Â The portions were large.
I recommend it, but I won't be making special trips to eat here.
Ate here this morning and everything was wonderful.
I had the eggs Benedict and would recommend it to anyone. For whatever reason I have had trouble finding a good eggs Benedict. Either the English muffin is burnt or the hollandaise is too lemony; they got it right at City Farms. The ham is thick and tasty, compliments the eggs well. The eggs were perfectly runny and the English muffins were toasted perfectly as well. My gf got the egg and cheese sandwich and liked it as well.
The restaurant is small, I think 6 tables, a few of them are pretty large and could probably seat 8 or 10 people. We went around 9:45 and were the only people there. Although, after about a half hour the tables were all full.
I will definitely eat here again, especially because it is so close to home. A few very small suggestions I would make to the management here;
1. Serve the coffee with a spoon so customers can stir in cream or sugar.
2. Don't refrigerate the cream as it tends to turn the coffee a little to cold. Â (Not actually cold, just not as hot as would be preferred). Â
3. Put a little garnish on the plates, parsley or a small tomato wedge; something to add a little color. You can see the photos I posted of the food (eggs Ben and egg sand) while it tastes good, it looks boring. Â
The coffee and service was great, the food was done well, no complaints there.
They also do take-out.+
In reality it's a 3.5, I'm inclined to round up because I wish them well and want more people to go here.
Check out more of my reviews at http://www.ShawnKemp.yel…
I have been here twice and the food is delicious. Â My poor rating is over a cup of soup. Â I ordered the Cuban Sandwich with a side cup of chicken noodle soup. Â Again the food is good, but when I received my bill the cup of soup cost $5.99! Â For a 8oz cup of soup!! Â My sandwich w/fries was $6.99. Â I didn't get it. Â When I asked the server about the price she offered to take $1.00 of since it was a small cup. Â So that's $4.99 for mediocre chicken noodle soup. Â I am not one who will make a big deal out of things, but I will not be going back.
Review Source:Delivery was NOT healthy, tasty, or timely. I placed my first order ever from City Farms Market and Grill, and I will never buy anything again. I ordeted at 5:40 pm, and since I work in a similar restaurant, I know that grub hub calls and confirms a delivery time. Howevet, it took so long I actually called twice...but no answer at all!!! On a Friday night you don't answer? It took until 7:50 to arrive. Â I was actually dressing my HUNGRY toddler to go pick up fo od elsewhere when it showed up 2+ hours later! I asked for fruit, but got soggy fries...and too few for the price! Food was not well composed, it was ice cold, and bread was so stale. The smoothies were watery from defrosting. As a healthy food hopeful, I am so disappointed in this spot. Â Still no return call, either! :( Â Hopefully I can post the picture I took!
Review Source:This place is right down the street from where I live. Wish I would of known it was around sooner. Everyone that works here is extremely friendly. The food is outstanding. They go above and beyond to ensure you have a great meal. If I could eat here everyday, honestly I would. We needed a place like this so bad in this neighborhood, and this place rocks. Highly would recommend. Tried in once and was already back two more times in the past two weeks.
I have had their lunch, but I haven't tried their dinner. The menu looks really good and I can't wait to get in their for dinner sometime soon! Oh and I hear they offer breakfest and they deliver it!
Check it out if you are near Southport / Ashland and Irving Park road. The owners are both very nice and everything is very fresh.
Good Stuff!
Saw a new place and was looking for a quick bite to eat so I we dropped in. Let me say I have only been here once, and plan on at least trying it one more time.
Out of our group we ordered a sandwich, the bacon burger, and the salmon/egg plate. Indicated on the menus, this place really pushes the organic/fresh food concept- which is fine, but also means you are paying quite a premium. Expect no less than $10 a meal. With this price point, my taste bud's expectations are raised a little bit.
The inside is nice, and setup as I would expect, friendly service too. No complaints in this department.
Now for the real reason I gave the lower score, the food experience was not quite what I was expecting. I personally had the Bacon Burger - the meat itself was cooked just fine, but seemed a little too small, the bacon was a little too little, I didn't even really notice it - one slice of tomato and a lettuce leaf. The bread was pretty standard, like your normal packaged bun - not really what I was expecting for a $10 burger. I think if this was $5, I'd be pretty happy but considering the price point vs what I experienced made it tough to really say it was awesome. And additionally the fries on the side, not only seemed like your standard diner fries , but didn't seem too fresh. I would have expected handcut fries or some special salted variation to compliment the burger. The whole plate was rather underwhelming. Â
We also had the salmon/eggs breakfast platter which the salmon was pretty fishy, and the bagel was a pretty standard bagel. I think again the biggest detriment to this plate was the size/quality for the price. This was over $10 so it just didn't seem right -and I understand its "organic" and local, but still seems a little high for what you are getting. I think the salmon could have definitely been a little better.
Overall the price point might be the biggest negative, but the portion size is also a big killer. I'm not looking to binge eat everywhere, but maybe just more sides, or just better quality sides to compliment the small main portion would make me a little happier. Overall it just seems too standard vs price point. Given the other places in the area, its hard to really want to come back. Â I am willing to drop by just by myself for a pickup and try another menu item - I'll check the positive reviews and see if I can maybe find a winner on the menu. If a place has nice service, I'll usually come back a few times and I can't pass final judgment on just a couple items, right!?
I went to this restaurant on a Wednesday with my 3 year old daughter. It was almost 3 and they were going to be closing soon for lunch to get ready for dinner. We were not made at all to feel like we were an inconvenience. I believe it was the owner that greeted us and when I asked if they were still serving breakfast items he said they could make me anything I wanted.
After looking over the menu, I inquired if the eggplant fries were deep fried. He said they were but he could bake them for me if I preferred. He made sure to tell me they had never done this before so he couldn't guarantee how they would turn out. I stay away from deep fried items so I was very excited when he said he would do it. I am so glad I did too because they were delicious! I also ordered the veggie burger and asked if he could put it over a salad for me. He replied no problem. My daughter got the chocolate chip pancakes and a green smoothie.
Everything was absolutely delicious! I can't say enough good things about the quality and taste of the food. You have to check this place out. The chef even came up to our table afterwards and inquired how we liked the food. My daughter got a real kick out of that.
We went yesterday for breakfast and it was very good. Â The atmosphere is quaint and modern-country. Â I got the New York scramble which was smoked salmon mixed with scrambled eggs, a dollop of sour cream and a sesame bagel with cream cheese. Â I'd give that meal a 3.5/5.0. Â My boyfriend had a traditional breakfast with eggs, potatoes, sausage and a blueberry short stack. Â He'd give his meal a 4.5/5. Â My eggs were a bit too salty because of the amount of salmon used, but I did politely tell the owner and chef, so I don't feel bad about saying it here. Â My bagel was perfect - as bagels should be. Â My boyfriend's meal disappeared fairly quickly, but I did get a taste of pancakes and sausage. Â Both were delicious. Â The juice was fresh squeezed and wonderful. Â The coffee could have been stronger, but after three cups, it's not noticeable anymore. Â The communal tables, mismatched chairs and reclaimed benches made for a really nice environment inside. Â I'd definitely go back.
Review Source:We stumbled on this restaurant, and it was amazing! Â We love the farm to table idea. Â The owners are very personable and took the time to ask about our experience. Â It was a Tuesday night, so it was basically us in the restaurant. Â The service was great, and the food was done in a reasonable time. Â The restaurant was also impeccably clean, which I always appreciate. Â Check this place out!
Review Source:We got the Corned beef hash, Salmon eggs benedict, and one other dish that I can't remember anymore.
In short, the food was really solid- actually exceeded my expectations (granted I wasn't really expecting anything because I didn't look this place up). The eggs were done properly (over easy), and all the flavors of each dish worked together well.
It's a small spot, and one may feel slight cramped, despite the industrial look of the place.
I don't really write reviews anymore but this place really pissed me off, so I'll keep it brief. I went in with a friend. I ordered the porchetta sandwich. I have had the runs every damn day since I ate that dry flavorless sandwich. F this place and people who serve old food. Thanks for poisoning me with your awful food.
Review Source:To be honest, a lump developed in my throat as I realized this was the former Rockin' Taco (RIP), but other than the layout being the same, the decor is worlds away from Rockin' Taco. Cute little mason jars and minimalist decor have replaced posters of Rage Against the Machine and hard rock music.
My mom and I were the only ones there on a Wednesday morning shortly after opening, but I imagine they do a brisker business on the weekends.
The cuisine is farm-to-table (but what isn't these days?) comfort food, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We were there for breakfast and while nothing on the breakfast portion of the menu seemed overly inventive, there were still some solid choices. I settled on the pan-seared oatmeal cooked in fresh apple cider, only to be told they didn't have it that day. Sad face. Must be more of a winter item. Instead I opted for a breakfast sandwich of ham, egg, and cheese on french bread. Mom had the yogurt, granola and fruit plate.
Our food was good; the ham on my breakfast sandwich was more thick and "steak-y" than I like, but the scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly and overall it was a tasty sandwich, as was the strawberry smoothie I also ordered. Mom seemed to enjoy her decidedly more healthy breakfast, which was a generous portion of ripe fruit, yogurt and (what looked to be at least) homemade granola.
Our server was very sweet and pleasant. She was efficient and our coffee cups never went unattended. Granted, we were the only ones there, but I get the feeling she is on top of her game even when it's busy.
We'll go with 3.5 stars on this one. Nice little neighborhood spot in a neighborhood I'm rarely in.
Well, I've been there twice. Once I had lunch/brunch which was delicious! I had salmon eggs benedict and they were fantastic! loved it. Â Second time, it was this past Friday, I was coming home (and yes I do live in the neighborhood) from work and wanted to pick up something quick before i was going to have to work some more. Â I ordered a burger, and wanted it medium rare, on a brioche bun. Â Nothing fancy, right?! Â I ordered it for specific time as I knew what time I was going to have to pick it up. Â When I arrived the simple burger was still not ready and I had to wait. Â after 10 minute wait i got my burger and went home. Â Opened up the bag and here's my burger ($10 price tag does not include any sides!). Â As I took a bite out of it I realized that it is well done - yuck! Giving them the benefit of a doubt i continued eating it! as I took another bite I realized that I've just bit into some kind of foreign matter! YES! a piece of plastic!!!!! I am assuming it was from the cheese wrapper but it was equally disgusting! Â Needless to say I don't think I will be eating there EVER AGAIN! eeeewwwwww!!!!!!!!
Save a buck and go get something along Southport! I am sure that they don't serve plastic wrappers in their burgers!
Like many of my neighbors, it sounds like we were all pretty excited about a new spot opening up on Irving Park. I've never actually dined inside, only ordered to go. So far, the food has been good, but I can't speak to the dining experience.
My only reservations about this place are the pricing and the hours...
 - The hours are fairly confusing since they've opened up, and their website wasn't up and running until sometime this weekend/early this week. I placed a togo order on Friday around 2:50, only to discover that the door was locked upon my arrival. I was unaware that they were closed from 3-5 pm. I felt really bad ordering so close to closing time, but they ran over, unlocked the door, and greeted me very nicely. Now that the website is up, I can clearly see their hours and will not make that mistake again. Basically, they were incredibly polite, which is more than I can say for myself if somebody ordered 10 minutes before closing time. So, kudos.
 - Their prices are a tad on the high side for breakfast and lunch, which I don't mind dishing out if it's worth it, however, simple things like biscuits and jam were extremely expensive. We were charged $1.50 for a single biscuit. That's awfully pricy for some flour, butter, milk, and salt, but the fresh strawberry jam was quite delicious. Â
They also seem a little disorganized. I understand it's a fairly new business, so it's understandable. The first time I called for a to-go order, I'm fairly certain a child answered the phone and told me to hold on. I was on hold for 7 minutes until a woman picked up the receiver and asked if I'd been helped. She seemed confused, briskly apologized, and then got to business taking my order. I wasn't thrilled, but it was fine. The food was good.
Overall, the corn beef hash, chicken salad sandwich, and Monte Cristo have all been pretty tasty. My friend that had the asparagus & mushroom omelet said it wasn't much to write home about and it was average at best, but I had the "three way" for lunch today and it was insanely delicious. Might I add that the "THREE WAY" is not a burger as it is listed on the online ordering section, it's served like a hot dog in a bun. It was a surprise when I saw it, but soon after, I didn't care because it was REALLY GOOD. My husband had the carrot cake pancakes and they were fluffy, but not terrible sweet, which was a pleasant surprise. They're hearty and not sugary at all. I would've liked to have had some kind of candied walnuts on there, but to each their own.
I was torn between a 3 & a 4 for this place, but our lunch today pushed it up to a 4. It seems like maybe they're getting their flow down and improving all the time. I think a few things on the menu and their pricing could use some tweaking, but overall, I'd say I've have more positive experiences than negative ones, and the food has been good. I'll definitely be back.
I went to brunch here with my boyfriend today after having passed by it on Irving Park and it looked great. The dining experience was not so great. The interior, while tiny, is actually very cute and I like the communal table concept. We walked in, snagged 2 spots at the end of one table, and we were handed menus. After deciding that I wanted the salmon eggs benedict, the waitress said "Oh! Oops! I forgot to tell you that we're totally out of salmon." This is understandable from time to time, but why didn't she mention it when she handed us the menus--especially since 2 of the breakfast entrees contained salmon? Â I quickly ordered the mushroom and asparagus omelet, and my boyfriend ordered the corned beef hash. Â
The meal was completely underwhelming. We were served room temperature food (we saw in the kitchen behind the table that there were giant platters of already-made potatoes and other things)--my boyfriend's corned beef hash was actually cold and not exactly appetizing, and my omelet was absolutely substandard. On the menu, it stated that the omelet contained a balsamic reduction or drizzle on it, and this was false. The omelet was a basic button mushroom (totally standard grocery store mushrooms) and chopped up asparagus and looked--and tasted--completely plain with nothing else on it. Adequate, but I've had better omelets at IHOP. Â They also only had one chef in the kitchen doing everything. One? On a Sunday for brunch? Really? Â The prices were astronomical for the totally average meals we were served. I have no problem paying $12 for an omelet, but certainly nothing as totally "blah" as that.
Don't waste your money on City Farms--spend the same amount at fabulous places like 2 Sparrows, M. Henry, or even the Bongo Room for much better and creative food.
The place is small and cute. The waitress was really nice and helpful. We ordered the portobello sandwich and the veggie burger. The veggie burger was very good. The portobello was good, but I felt there wasn't enough portobello for all that bread it was in. I also didn't feel it was worth $9. The sandwiches came with chips.
We will definitely come back for the veggie burger.
We'll be back. Excellent, All good, BUT the bread, the bread the bread. Below par, less than great, factory not bakery made. As an outlet for naturality I expect a long rise loaf with flavor development par excellent. It's not hard to provide such a loaf. City Farms: We love you -- but Get better bread!
Review Source:I was pretty excited about the concept of this little place tucked in right on Irving close by... however, its not really worth the hubbub. Â
The place is SMALL... so for brunch on the weekend maybe not a top choice. Â Communal seating with some window area bar seating so it was very packed when we went.
I was excited to try some organic homegrown cookin', but really it was kind of bleh. Â Maybe we just got the wrong things, but the potatoes were kind of the stereotype hash browns you got when you were in college ad the cafeteria. Â The pancakes were just good nothing like WOW, but maybe I should try their fancy ones next time. Â The side of biscuits and gravy my boyfriend had was actually one of our favorite things. Â I was also unimpressed with the bacon... Â I guess when I think Locally sourced/organic blargh I think of places like City Provisions that do this crazy amazing stuff and their meats are specially cured or something crazy like that... We will be back to give it a second chance, however I think its only pricey because they do get their product farm to table, however not really doin' whole lot with it...
Service was friendly and super great! Â Keep it up and I'll be back to try something else to see if I just was getting the wrong thing...
Second meal here in 2 weeks.
Huge pile of poorly cooked potatoes with your breakfast? Nope.
Really goddamn great little pile of potatoes with your breakfast? Yep.
Please go here. I'm guessing nobody knows about it because its on a kind of random crap section of Irving Park. For purely selfish reasons, would really love it if it stayed around.
Some might argue that the farm-to-table movement is totally blasé at this point but I am always happy to see when a new farm-to-table joint pops up. "Healthy", "local", and "simple" are words that are music to my ears and music that City Farms market sings. Unfortunately, "pricey" and "bland" are also words that made it's way into the music.
The first time I came in I ordered a Porchetta sandwich ($8.99). With a menu description praising it as juicy perfections... Berkshire pork belly and pork butt (hehe), crackling crispy skin, slow roasted with rosemary, garlic, fennel, sage, and served with chimichurri sauce. This description made my mouth water and my belly grumble but unfortunately it sounds better on paper than it tastes in real life. Served with some potato chips, everything looked so beige and tasted kind of bland. I would have loved to see a small, simple green salad perhaps (sans potato chips) and tasted more of the ingredients listed in the menu description. Plus for $8.99 if was a wee bit on the small side. I can get a good sandwich with quality ingredients from Real Kitchen for only $6.50.
The second time here, I ordered a cheese egg sandwich with country ham served on crispy toasted french bread for carry out. Lies. It may have been better if I dined in the restaurant, but the crispy french bread turned very moist and soggy while wrapped in it's foil waiting to be taken home. The saving grace for breakfast was the Asado coffee they served. Fabulous cuppa joe.
I like what they try to do, just do it better please.
Great food. It reminds me of farm fresh, SF/Napa style fare. It's such a nice contrast to some of the heavier Chicago style foods.
The monte cristo, burgers, and salads are very good. Try the wedge. I normally do not like blue cheese dressing, but theirs is homemade and the blue cheese isn't overpowering. Â They have porchetta on the menu, but ran out of it when I dined there.
The restaurant itself is simple and country cute. It's byob which is always a plus. Oh and they deliver!! In addition, prices are super affordable.
I think they still have some kinks to work out, but I would love to see them stick around because they really offer affordable quality food. Â I requested fries once and the server decided not to put them in because she didn't want me to wait? We ordered them for delivery and they are worth waiting for. Â =)
City Farms could well be one of Chicago's best brunch secrets owing to its adorable set up, intimate atmosphere, and cheery management, but it has some growing pains to go through first. Located on Irving at Southport, the small and cheery City Farms brings a much needed breakfast/brunch/lunch and coffee spot to area. I was staying with a good friend of mine just down the street and spotted City Farms while walking by one rainy evening- I was very thankful to have somewhere nearby to go have a coffee and a bite in the Seattle-inspired weather we were having that week, especially since Asado Roasters (across the street) seems to make up their hours as they go.
Let's start with the most important part of breakfast- the coffee. City Farms uses the beans from Asado and does them justice. You'll get a nice, dark cup that brings a little life back into your bones. I had the Eggs Benedict and thought it was good, maybe a little underwhelming. In the breakfast/brunch department, their ooey gooey sweet items seemed to be the bigger hit with the rest of the brunch crowd. Looking through the menu, my biggest disappointment with the place was that City Farms is espousing a farm to table ethos, and yet their menu is one you might find at any chain restaurant (Eggs Benedict, Monte Christo Sandwich, etc). If I'm looking for Farm to Table, I don't want a hot dog, or a beef sandwich, or a Monte Christo for goodness sake! City Farms is adorable and fills a much needed gap in the neighborhood, the management is sweet even if the waitstaff is a bit green, and the coffee is on point, we just need to add some flair to that menu. I'd love to go back and find that City Farms was offering some less run of the mill creations that celebrate the ingredients and inspire you to shell out $9 for eggs.
A bit of a disappointment, but I'm going to try it again soon. My meal didn't really taste like it came straight from the farm. It tasted a lot like processed food. Over cooked maybe? I can't put my finger on it, and I'm reluctant to diss a new place in a neighborhood that needs new places, but...
Review Source:The first thing I have to say about City Farms is to quote my girlfriend's blog:
"Wow. I don't know whether to shout about this place from the roof tops or not tell a soul so I can always get a seat."
http://stawojo.wordpress…
It won't surprise me if City Farms soon becomes the hot spot of the area we live in. Located on the edge of three neighborhoods (Riverview, Ravenswood and North Center) in a spot that has seen many restaurants come and go (farewell Rockin' Taco) City Farms is this part off the neighborhoods answer to Glenn's Diner. It's smaller, more intimate and has an very clean modern interior style as opposed to the retro restaurant style of Glenn's. It's also more focused on the organic, fair trade angle but the food has the same amazing home cooked quality.
My girlfriend had a delicious veggie burger with sweet potato tater tots. They were excellent... the veggie burger was rich and flavorful and the tater tots were light sweet and crisp. That said, I don't think I'm out of line though to say that the Lamb Shank I ordered was the star plate on the table. Clocking in at a mere $15, it was easily a $40 quality meal. Â The potatoes were rich and flavorful, the sauce and the vegetables were tasty and very savory and the lamb itself was fall off the bone, melt in your mouth delicious! Wonderful! We also had two smoothies both were delicious and for desert we had brownies that were very fresh tasting and very delicious.
Quite frankly, we only ordered desert based on how great the meals were and because the staff was so nice and friendly that I just wanted to throw more money their way.
I would highly recommend this place.
Hidden on the busy intersection of Irving Park Road and Ashland, City Farms Market & Grill is an amazing restaurant. The interior is very homey, and I love how they use mason jars as glass. Â There breakfast menu looks amazing, but I was there for lunch. Â Their homemade chips are to die for, especially the sour cream and onion ones. Â I tried their mango smoothie, and I guess one of the owners did too. Â He stated the smoothie was not "mango-ey" enough, so he made another smoothie for wasn't satisfied with the taste of the second one, so he made me one of his favorite concoction with cilantro, banana, grapes, and kale. Â It was amazing!! I am definitely going back to try the breakfast menu and dinner menu!
Review Source:"Hello" new go-to spot! Â I've been looking for a fresh new spot that isn't totally crowded and City Farms Market totally fit the bill today. Â Actually, I've been left thinking about my breakfast all day.
Took the family there on a Sunday morning for brunch and was more than pleasantly surprised. Â Not only was I treated to some amazing Apple Crumb Pie French Toast, but I was knocked off guard by the amazing french pressed coffee and deliciously thick cut bacon. Â
City Farms Market, I will be seeing you next weekend or sooner... for dinner.
Great, bright, and clean little spot, right on Irving. Â The waitstaff was very friendly and very helpful. Â
I had the chocolate chip pancakes which were good but nothing out of the ordinary. Â My hubby had a brunch dog sandwich which looked delish and our friend had some egg sandwich which she loved.
We will definitely be back... So glad it's in the neighborhood!
Saw their review and photos on http://Thrillist.com this morning. Â Glad I stopped what I was doing and dropped in for a bite for lunch. Â Owner Alex said they just opened yesterday and serve American comfort food as well as healthy choices. Â It's a casual eatery/grill that focuses on higher quality locally sourced ingredients at just the right price point of $9-10 for the stuff I like. Â I was intrigued by the "Triple Threat" sandwich, a 1/4lb bacon sausage topped with carmelized onions and slivers of pan roasted apples. Â Top that with an awesome maple-bacon aioli that reminded me of sweet and savory french toast and bacon, and I was enjoying a delicious juicy meal on a tasty French baguette.
They just opened yesterday and are just settling in. Â Was told they're not just breakfast and lunch, but will be opening for dinner, as well as having a food truck in the works, too. Â More items are to be added to the menu soon, he said.
I will be back again and again (I have my eye on that apple crumble pie french toast that sounds like just what I would like).
