I went to Lucky's today as a suggestion from my cousin. Â Despite the fact that the place was packed and there was a pre-St. Patrick's Day pub crawl, my friend and I were seated pretty quickly. Â I ordered a "Diet-Rite" to drink, no Coke or Pepsi I guess. Â For lunch I had the "Double Bagger," which was a corned beef and pastrami sandwich. Â The thing about Lucky's is that it serves "Pittsburgh-style sandwiches," which has fries and the cole slaw on the sandwich itself. Â I wasn't a big fan of this style however, and couldn't really tell what kind of sandwich I was eating, all I could taste were the fries. Â The portions were huge, definitely worthy of being on Man vs. Food. Â Great service though, and very speedy for a busy place right by Wrigley Field.
Review Source:I went to Lucky's with a great deal of skepticism. Â I am from Pittsburgh and thought this would be a very poor imitation of Primanti's... let's just say that I was pleasantly surprised!
I ordered the good ol' stalwart, the "cap and cheese". Â When the sandwich came out and was actually a bit bigger than Primanti's, at least from what I recall. Â The quality was definitely there as well. Â This is one of the best sandwiches that I have ever had. Â
Let me be clear though, it is not BETTER than Primanti's, but it is just as good. Â If you get the chance to stop by and grab a sandwich, don't pass it up.
A whole meal in a sandwich! Fries (good alone), slaw, meat, etc all in a fluffy white bread. To top it off this place is quick and cheap too!
I had the Cajun chicken - was very tasty. It paired perfectly with an old style :)
In a typical Wrigleyville fashion this place can get crowded (think Cubs games and weekend nights). But I have still had a good deal of fun here then and was able to get drinks easily.
