I had one good experience where the food was solid - nice beef brisket and cabbage for St Paddy's day and decent beer selection. Service was fast .
Other times they would charge twice for refills of soda and their prices are high for the area.
The seating area and bar interior is fine - a nice middle of the road Irish pub. But I ordered a chicken salad where the grilled chicken was OK but the lettuce and tomato were HALF THAWED and it cost $11 for grilled chicken slices, ICEBERG lettuce, and beefsteak tomatoes.
Considering its location near the express subway stop I would think they would work a little harder to do better - it has the potential to be great.
For Queens, this is a pretty solid sports bar. I went here to pre-game for a wedding. Maybe not the place you want to walk into in a fancy dress but it will do pig, it will do. They have a very good happy hour deal. Which I wasn't even looking for or expecting. Mostly, myself and my friend did not want to be the first to arrive and it was boiling outside. Air conditioning, $3 wells, $3 bottles, $4 everything on tap, and $5 margaritas. Can't be beat. Especially for trekking all the way out to Forrest Hills on a Friday night. Shots were also relatively cheap, $5. Â Because that happened with tabasco sauce. Yes. Bartender had never heard of vodka and tabasco but he did not mind giving me some. He also did not mind giving me his pen when I realized I forgot to buy and sign a card. The margaritas were a little bit too syrupy for my taste. So I only had one. But the syrup had a good taste to it at least! Bathrooms are a little ick. But I approve for the convenience of its location along a strip of Duane Reads/McDonalds.
Review Source:Came here to watch a Knicks game on a Saturday night. You could tell that about a third of the people in the bar were old regulars that didn't realize there was a knick game on. Spotted some other locals that came by themselves to watch the game in their sweats. This gave the place a low quality feel. The place has a lot of tvs, with different qualities and the speakers are very loud, so much that it's hard to have a conversation. A low key bar to watch spots, probably won't come here on my own though.
Review Source:This place has decent food, but I am over the owner/manager. Â Me and my friend each ordered an iced tea and when asked if we "wanted another" we were charged TWICE! Â The iced tea was $3 x 2. Â Six dollars for sub par iced tea?! Â Starbucks is cheaper than that! Â
When I brought it to her attention, she said, "oh no, we always charge here. Â That's why we ask if 'you want another." Â That f-ing bullshit. Â This place is ridiculous and they obviously don't know how to treat their customers. Â Had she had any sense, she would have comped it this time so in the future I would know. Â I have been there three times in the last week and spend at least $15/visit. Â She has no idea how much business she'll lose over this six bucks. Â I hope it's worth it to her.
The first beer I ordered exploded foam in my face from the tap and all over my arms. I am no sissy and have been covered in beer more times then I will share publicly, so message me for details..kidding..
The beer selection for such a long bar, where there is ample space for more was lacking, but the MOD or owner (did not ask his title) mentioned more taps were on the way. I will defiantly return to see whats been decided upon for craft beers.
The menu is really limited, but the half pound burger I ordered was really good, but nothing unique nor extreme was available as a topping. I ordered a fried egg to top my bacon and american cheese and the waitress almost fell over with surprise. Amp up some unique toppings folks, nothing to loose and everything to gain. Considering the limited menu, its a must!
The ribs were freaking excellent for a shot in the dark for a offbeat bar menu item, with an additional side of BBQ and there were only gnawed bones that remained on the plate.
Ordering fires "Well Done" requires extra cooking time, I know its a minor request but it really matters to the customer.
Very cute servers during lunch!
I've been coming here on and off for years and never had a bad experience here. The atmosphere during sports games is fantastic but you can also come here at 1 in the afternoon and enjoy a delicious lunch, heck i took my grandma here for lunch one day it's that nice of a place.
Oh, and the service is top notch. I'm all for having a guy bartender to talk sports with and such, but it's always nice to be served drinks by a lovely lady as well.
Horrible service with attitude from the bartender. The worst burger ever, which took 20 minutes, came out burnt and dry. I went this Labor Day after a long day of shopping craving a burger and a left in an annoyed mood. I just moved to the neighborhood, blocks away, and was hoping this would be my go-to bar, which is unfortunate, but there are way too many cooler environment/ good service places to grab a beer and watch the game in Forest Hills. Never Returning
Review Source:Welp, I'm not gonna sugar coat it; Cobblestone's was bad.
Ordered my burger medium, got it well done (flavorless as well). Â Burger was piping hot, fries were cold. Â The server was incredibly slow, overwhelmed and under trained, which is management's fault. Â I don't know why she would assume that we wanted our appetizer with dinner, when we told her that we would have the "appetizer sampler to start". Â Hello? Â
I could go on, but I think I made my point.
Only saving grace is that they had Shock Top Pumpkin Ale and Monday Night Football playing. Â I won't be back.
Beware the $0.30 sunday wings special  - it's dangerous.... I think I gorged about 25 before the 1 o'clock game was over.  Staff was friendly and fun - a must for Sunday football, and decked out in Giants gear - always a plus!
The one downside was the lack of a buy-back policy. What modern day bar doesn't buy a chap a beer after ordering 3 pitchers? A: Cobblestone's.
My hubby and I have been here countless times and also with friends. We usually hit their happy hrs Mon - Fri  from 4-7 pm,great deal 30 ct wings different flavor we like them hot .Also beers are  3-4 dollars depending on brand. House wines and mixed drinks not brand ones are all part of the deal.I love to get the grilled chicken salad or greek salad its huge and very good.Inexpensive and very good drinks and wings for happy hour. Also on football nites and baseball nites they have specials with pitchers of beers and i think, wings also.Great bar to go to although at times music can be very loud. Bartenders are all generally nice. A lot of guys usually go on game nights for the specials and numerous Tvs they have.Burgers are very good although now they are a bit expensive even though they come with fries. Good bar food; love the wings!
Review Source:The reviews of this place are just another example of how people abuse this site. There are too many reviews from owners and employees of competing bars. ... If you're looking for fine dining, this is not the place to go. If you like huge, delicious, 30-cent wings, and Sam Adams Cherry Wheat and Shock Top on tap, then this is the place to go. If you like cheaper beer, you can get $10 pitchers or $12 buckets. So again, this is the place to go. Back to the wings, they are some of the best you will ever have. I recommend the hot honey barbecue. If you have a vegetarian with you, they have great waffle fries and sweet potato fries.
Cobblestones is my favorite bar in the Kew Gardens/Forest Hills area by miles, but I cannot give it 5 stars until they get some bigger TVs and not do stupid things like closing for a private party DURING THE SUPER BOWL. ... Also, there are two male bartenders who just pour Guinness to the top in one shot and serve it. An old guy and a young guy. That is as disgusting as urinating in a pint glass and should be grounds for immediate dismissal. If I walk into a "pub," I expect to have the option of a properly poured Guinness. But the bottom line is I drink other beers, I get outstanding bar food and I spend very little money. This is where I keep going back.
On the strip of queens blvd lies a pub with cheap drinks, spacey interior and on point waitstaff. Came here on a Saturday night to watch the Knicks game ( Linning!!! ). There was about 15-20 of us and thankfully there wasn't many others around since we were cheering so hard for our boy J-Lin.
The low down...
Jack n coke - $5.50
Malibu Baybreeze - $5.50
Cesar Salad - $10-11 ( the wifey forgot pricing lol )
There was only 1 waitress that night but she was on her A game. She wasn't too clingy to get us to buy drinks but waited for us to finish and then asked. Signs of veteran which is a plus in my book. Â TV's were all around thou i wish it was a bit bigger ( 32inch is a bit small for my bat vision).
I was surprised that there wasn't that many people here but at the same token glad since i can come here to watch the game without the crowd.
Cobblestone.. you had me at $5.50 cocktails and the space to stretch without having to bump into someones ear lobe on a Saturday night.
Oh and the Knicks won. 100-98.
"the shots keep falLin"
I want to love this place...I really do. Â Not only is it a block from my house, but it's a great space. Â They have a lot of TV's and ample space for big parties. Â The waitress/bar staff are also decent. Â The food though, which is just plain bar food, has become atrocious. Â The ribs that used to be so moist and tender in years past, are yes, still falling off the bone, but have the texture of wood chips. Â Don't even think about the steak tidbits (which is a cut up block of steakum) or the roast beef sandwich, which is as dry as their ribs. Â It's all just awful. Â I usually just stick to the fries and chicken fingers (which at least look homemade and are juicy). Â The beer selection is okay as they have a decent array of seasonal and imported taps. Â That being said, eat before you come here to watch the game and drink a brew. Â They need a new chef badly.
Review Source:Nice enough but I think the food prices could be a buck or two lower.  $10.95 for a deluxe burger (with two toppings included) seemed just a bit pricey for an old fashioned bar; a plain burger was not on offer. Several small flat screens set to Yankees etc.  Nice thing was that they had the Yankees radio play by play on speaker. My bacon cheese burger was nice enough; fries were the usual industrial frozen variety.  Chili cheese  nachos disappointed.Several taps.  I had a Sam; my friend had Blue Moon.  The beer selection on tap is not all that unusual but they stayed away from the mainstream crap - ie no Bud, no Miller, no Coors Light.
Review Source:30 Cent wings when the Yankees or the Mets are playing?
That gets you an extra star.
And yeah, they're good. Get 'em Buffalo style. They definitely stepped up their wing game recently.
Cobblestones is a good place to go if you have a medium-sized group of friends who are hungry, thirsty, want to watch the game, and don't really care to mix and mingle.
I've only gone for drinks, but it's a handy location (close to, but not right at the subway entrance). Â Different bartender each time, but each has poured a good drink and each has been friendly. Â It's quiet enough to talk with friends, which is the big draw for us. Â That obviously wouldn't be true during a big sporting event. Â Apparently a lot of attorneys there, which makes sense as it's not too far from the DA's office and the courthouse.
Review Source:Went here on a Sunday during football season but never got the chance to write up about it. Â Heard the bar would be a lot more packed but the Jets and Giants were not playing that weekend. Â but would def like to go back for a game. Â Food is good. Â not great. Â wings and burgers were good and fairly priced. Â rib hero wasn't that great though. Â I thought the service was pretty bad though, although we sat at a table by the bar, not at the bar. Â Would def give it another shot though, preferably for a Jets game just to see if it's any better.
Review Source:I visit cobblestones occasionally with friends. I love this place for the atmosphere. If you want to go somewhere with a group of people and be able to hear each other talk. This is def the place to hang out. Â It doesn't get two crowded. With the exception being the jets vs Colts game last sat 1/8/2011. And the jets vs pats game last night. It was packed! Â I expect the same to follow this coming Sunday when we face the steelers!
Drinks are reasonably priced, specials during happy hour and football season keep me coming back.  .30 cent wings and 14$ pitchers! What more can you ask for ? The food here is your typical bar fare with some extra things on the menu. Though I've mostly eaten wings, fries or onion rings. Last night was the night I tried  a burger. @9.95$ with choice of two toppings and steak fries. I'd say that's a bargain. The burger did taste well. However, I do have a problem when I order a medium burger and there is raw meat in it. This will have to bring the rating down to 3 stars. It would be 3.5 if I could...  do a half star.... raw meat messed it up lol
Cobblestones there is something about you that keeps me coming back!
Had dinner here tonight. Â Its an ok bar. Â I go there more for the central location to be able to meet up with friends than the actual bar itself. Â Total local hangout.
Pros - Very clean, the waitresses are always very nice and friendly and the patrons are always very nice. Â Food and drinks are reasonably priced and you can play the lotto while you are watching the game on the big tvs hanging everywhere.
Cons - The food is only ok and the drinks are iffy. Â Had a Guiness tonight and it tasted warm and watered down. Â Also, they like to blast (and i mean BLAST) dance music like it was a hip hop club in the city. Â Never really understood why.
Its not a bad place to go, but it isn't fabulous. Â $9.95 gets you a decent sized burger (beef, turkey or veggie) with two toppings and a side of fries.
Been here probably over 30 times in the past 5 years. Â It's pretty average, but might be better than average for the area. Â Burgers are ok. Â I like the shrimp parm hero. Â All sandwiches come with fries. Â For a buck extra order the waffle fries, although regular fries are very crispy. Â Quiche with side salad is recommended as a healthy alternative.
Their menu states it's "Home for Ribs". Â Figured I would order the rib hero today. Â I was disappointed. Â It was more like pulled pork in a tangy barbecue sauce which wasn't all that great. Â I won't order it again. Â Still trying to figure out how they got such acclaim for their ribs. Â Maybe it was self proclaimed.
They have a lot of tv's throughout the place for any sporting event and have the NFL package with beer and wings specials during football. Â Happy hour beer specials are cheap and free pasta with meat sauce they have out for the free buffet which is comical in itself that they refer to it as a buffet, isn't as bad as it looks. Â Bar is never really all that crowded from what I have noticed.
Overall very average and not worth going out of your way for. Â But if you work in the area it's a nice change of pace from the otherwise dreadful lunch choices on Queens Blvd. Â Servers are nice and accommodating.
Would you like to go to Cobblestone's Pub to watch the game and grab some dinner?
Why, certainly!
Ohhh myyy gawdd. Yes, please. This hidden little gem is nestled among all of the crap on Queens Boulevard (aka HELL). The dining room is huuuuuuuge (must be said in a FUCILLO voice), the menu is typical bar food plus SO so sooo much more. Prices are reasonable and they have tons of specials for game nights. Waitresses were pleasant and speedily rushed around to take care of orders.
Food was a-mazing, and not just because I was starving. Burgers are 9.95 (with fries, lettuce, tomato and onion -- none of this bullshit $3 extra for "delux" nonsense). You get to choose two toppings -- among the list are various cheeses (swiss, mozzerella, cheddar, american) and veggies (sauteed mushrooms, sauteed onions, jalepenos, etc) as well as a selection of sauces (marinara, bbq). I went with a veggie burger topped with jalepenos and cheddar. Holy fucking goodness. Sesame seed bun? Oh HELL yes. Instead of fries, though, i ordered a side salad with creamy Italian -- yep, I said it. CREAMY ITALIAN. I know I should have had a beer while I watched the fliers make fools of themselves, but instead I ordered coffee after dinner. $2.25? Really Cobblestone? I hate to say it, but that's NOT gonna get you 5 stars.
Overall, though, this place knows what's up. If yelp could just get "half" stars already, this place would be a solid 4.5 star sports bar. Until then, we'll hold Cobblestone out at four stars. I'll see you there.
Decent bar, good music selection, obviously catered to locals.
I was coming home from school and starving, It was late and I was just sick of deli sandwiches from Redwood so i decided to try something different and maybe be surprised. Walked in saw the cute bartender and she offered me a menu. Got an ice cold pint of miller lite. The menu was typical simple bar fare. I didn't feel like indulging in the "famous ribs", instead I opted for a....healthier? option... the grilled chicken sandwich. It came out extremely dry and extremely thick.... the fries tasted old and soggy, overall not a good experience on the food part but its a decent place to watch a game with the plasma screens or just kick back and have a few beers.
Nice little place. Been here a few times. Mostly on Sundays to watch football with my friends. They have a well stocked bar and a full menu restaurant. The table service is great, friendly and on top of things. My glass rarely goes empty without being asked for another. The food is pretty good for a bar type setting. Don't expect 5 star dining. I usually get the boneless rib sandwich (very good) and fries. They also have wings, burgers, and fancier stuff if that's your thing. Did I mention cheap ($6 Kettle One and soda's!).
Review Source:This is your typical Forest Hills bar. There are never more than maybe 8 people inside, and it's kind of depressing. I come in here from time to time if I don't feel like walking to Austin and if me and my roommates just want a drink.
Chris was right, the bartender chick is kind of bitchy to the females and just hangs out with the guys, but that's OK, because we never need to order drink after drink after drink. In terms of food, we tried the wings here, and they were pretty bad. I know I'll be back because I live a block away, but don't go out of your way to visit this place.
After reading a number of newspaper articles about the quality ribs, I decided to stop in a check the place out. Â The other reviewers are correct in that it seems to be a very serviceable sports bar that caters to a group of local regulars. Â Televisions in dining rooms is a pet peeve of mine, but it seems that you really can't get away from them anymore, and that's my personal beef so I won't dock any stars for that. Â Service was pleasant enough. Â
So, what about the ribs? Â Well, I think that the Cobblestone Pub serves a respectable order of ribs. Â They were cooked well and the meat pulled right off the bone without any effort at all. Â I found the sauce to be rather lacking though. Â It was tangy, and sweet, but lacked the smoky complexity that I've experienced before in dedicated barbecue joints. Â $12 seemed fairly reasonable for a half slab and a salad and I can definitely see myself heading back if I've got craving for ribs in the neighborhood.
Went here the other night for some Summer Ale pitchers. Â I thought they were a bit overpriced at $18. Â The waitress was a real b**** to us but super outgoing and sweet to the men (I'm no man). Â I got a burger which was HUGE and good but not the best. Â I'd see where this place would be good for bare bones drinks and to watch a game but I really didn't appreciate the cold attitude.
Review Source:Great place to watch the game. Â Lots of flat screens. Â The bartenders are all very attentive and nice and I have gotten buy backs numerous times. Â The hamburgers, wings and the cobblestones are amazing. Â Good beer and appetizer deals during football games. Â Just a very good sports bar/restaurant.
Review Source:I went here for a retirement party last weekend that was planned in advance. Decor is very local bar and seemed to have its staple barflies manning the front. They allowed the back part to be set up for the event and the owner even went out to buy tablecloths upon request of the organizer. We had open bar from 5-7 pm and the waitresses ( very family style..looked like mother and daughter) were attentive and came back often.
They served salad with multiple dressing sources and I had their salmon with a baked potato..it's not really that hard to mess up such a dish and they actually did a pretty good job of it. The french fries were the steak kind and they also offered chicken and veal selections. Everyone was both surprised and impressed by the grub.
Additional star for the jukebox up front which actually went on to the internet to acquire music that wasn't originally on it (can you say a little Kanye West in the Irish pub?!)
I wouldn't necessarily suggest you use the establishment to host anything too fancy as the decor is lacking but it does have tables in the back normally which suggests they cater to those who want more than a couple of beers.
The mix seemed to be both old and young towards the end of the night and I would probably go back with a couple of friends to get a better idea of their mixed drinks.
Conclusion: check it out IF you're in the area
