Connie Mac's is a GREAT BAR! Large Selection of beer. Really good prices and specials. Really good bar food and then some. Roast beef is tender and juicy with the best au jus. Wings are yummy - crispy and the mild sauce is a finger licking good hot and honey. And then there's the garlic old bay shrimp...Can't get enough of them. Try them. The sauce is absolutely amazing. They are incredibly addictive. The people, staff and customers are friendly, non-pretentious people. There's a great deck out back. If the criteria is large beer selection, price, service, people, REALLY GOOD FOOD, a nice deck, TV's everywhere for just about every sporting event and a GREAT HAPPY HOUR, then I really can't name a bar that is better.
Review Source:Used to be favorite stomping grounds when I lived in Cherry Hill. Â Huge deck with a bar and several tv's outside, great if you smoke. Â Atmosphere is stereotypical beer dive but the staff is great and the food pretty good overall. Â Excellent sports watching venue as long as your with the locals rooting for the philly based team. Â It's practically on the Cooper River and makes for a great hangout IMHO.
Review Source:Definitely have had better food, drinks, service and ambience at many more places in the area. I've only been here twice - once for trivia night and once for (not so) happy hour.
Trivia night I didn't eat anything, but happy hour (I think it was happy hour) was disappointing. My boyfriend and I shared steamers and wings. He a beer, and I, being ever so classy, sex on la playa.
Anywho... Wings were ok, way too breaded and a little over-fried. Sauce was decent, and not to spicy. And I got a lot for the price. Steamers were steamers.. But I think he got maybe 5 that weren't opened. Red flag? Not sure.
For just these few things, we were there for about two hours, which wasn't the original plan. We were seated outside, so I am not sure if that makes a difference, but we just really felt neglected - which is the last thing any patron wants.
some nights better than others. It depends on who takes care of you. some nights the food is a value for the money and comes out hot and other nights it's horrific. Again, it's all about who takes care of you. Much turn-over in employees the last several months. never enough helps on to waits on your tables-always a long wait for everything.
Review Source:A bunch of coworkers and I are weekly regulars for a weekday lunch. The food is a good value, though they make up for it on the pitchers of beer. Â Hoagies are a good bet, but I'd suggest the patty melt for the best thing on the menu.
It's a great place for a small or large group, and the staff is attentive.
This is your basic dive, I would probably call it a tavern with Irish beer. I'm not sure of any real gems in Pennsauken but if you need a few beers, this will probably do the job. They have an outside deck that seats about as many as inside the bar. The inside layout reminded of me of Slates (which is now OOB). The food was nothing I'd yearn for but the beer selection wasn't bad, typically Irish flare of Guinness, Smithwicks, Harp, etc.
Unfortunately, as we were all talking, the DJ came in and decided that turning up his system to the max volume was exactly what everyone needed and lost several people to the patio. A few songs later, a karaoke singer thought he could go out do the DJ, and he disappointed, as I expected, so more (including all of us) retreated to the patio area.
Though my enthusiasm was less than stellar, the place was pretty packed for a Thursday night. One positive thing I can say is the waitresses were very friendly despite running between table to table.
I guess I'm spoiled with the Philly bars... meh.
There's nothing out of the ordinary about this bar. Â There's seating outside on their deck with several big TVs. Â The service was kind of slow even though there seemed to be several waitresses and not even that many people. Â The food was pretty bland and overpriced, but then again why the hell did I order fajitas? Â For their happy hour they have cute little 'personal pitchers'.
Review Source:Basic dive bar but with slightly better food. Looking for awesome salad and organic beef? Try someplace else. But if you're looking for basic bar food (burgers, fried anything, sandwiches) and cheap booze, it's a good place to start.
Menu recently redone. Couple Irish-y menu options: Shepherd's pie, Jameson & Garlic chicken, Irish stew. Â Most expensive menu item is $23 for choose-3 seafood including: 1 lb. snow crab legs, 24 peel and eat shrimp, 12 clams, 12 mussels or 4 scallops, which comes with potato selection and salad selection. Most menu items between $6 and $8.
Guinness, Hoegaarden, Smithwicks, PBR, Sam Adams Winter and Yuengling on tap plus domestics, full bar. Cheap specials, especially for lunch and happy hour. Staff is attentive.
What a huge dump, love this bar! Â Open til three, odds are you wind up here after a few drinks, just do yourself a favor and get a cab home, don't be that guy getting arrested in the next parking lot over! Â Good outside area with tons of tables in the summer. Â Beer selection is average at best, but you're not here to taste the latest offerings Rogue and Stone brewing. Â Not sure I'd eat here though...
Review Source:Connie Mac's is a decent sports bar on the edge of the Cooper River. Â It has a nice big space with plenty of TV's to watch your favorite sports teams. They've also got a pool table and a few video games as well. I usually end up sitting at the bar so I have a better view of the sports games. Â They have some pretty decent beers on tap, including Guinness, Hoegaarden and Yuengling. Depending on the night they have specials on draught beer or bottles.
The food here has ranged from decent to meh. The burger I had was cooked the way I liked it and it was pretty reasonably priced. The fries have been good there as well. The pork sandwich though, that was not that great. The salad I had was pretty decent too, and again very reasonably priced.
The bartenders are usually pretty nice and fast at filling drink orders. However, I have had problems getting food from the bartenders, sometimes to the point where I can see my order literally at the pick up counter/window ready and waiting, and waiting, and waiting.
I'll be back again to enjoy some sports and reasonably priced food.
Connies is quite simply my favorite bar in South Jersey. Â A previous reviewer commented about the beer selection, but the yuengling on tap is always cold. Â Love the wings and the sandwiches, and like a previous reviewer said there are specials almost all the time. Â Overall great food, great drinks and great prices. Â Insider's tip: get a spot at the bar for the quickest service during busy times.
Review Source:Biased I admittedly am becaus emy good friend Mellissa works here, this iconic south jersey bar is a stones throw from Casa D'Marco's front door, making it the perfect place to walk to for throw down drunk fests with friends.
Special note for smokers - large outside deck with it's own bar, chillers in the summer and heat in the winter.
The food is great, from the previously rated all you can eat wings to their seafood combos (a pound of shrimp, a pound of crab legs, and a pound of steamers in red sauce for 12.99!). Beer selection isn't bad, with all the staples you would expect. The crowd is pleasant, and there are pool tables available.
A nice place for a non-weekend night to hang. Don't try and get near it for St. Patricks day (or do if you want to hang with a crazy crowd) last year every spot in a 1/2 mile radius was taken by the hundreds and I mean hundreds of people who went to celebrate.
Say hi to Melissa for me!
A great non-pretentious bar to hang out at. Â Their beer selection is limited but they have a pretty expansive menu that goes beyond typical bar food. Â Any of their Irish specials are highly recommended, as is going after 4 pm on a Thursday for all-you-can-eat wings. Â Since I mentioned that special, I should note that whatever day or time you go here, there will be some kind of special on either food or beer. Â Everything is already cheap to begin with and this only sweetens the deal. Â
It isn't a place where I would want to hang out for my evening, but the back patio is a great time on a spring or summer afternoon. Â Watching Phillies day games there might be the only thing that helped me survive through studying for the bar exam.
So it's not in Philly proper, but it's worth a jaunt over the bridge (just don't drink too much if you're driving back). I used to hang out at Connie's after roller derby practice. There's nothing like pitchers of beer and fried food to make you forget that you just twisted your damn knee yet again and probably won't be able to walk the next day. With a hodgepodge of good old fashioned bar food on the menu--and no discernable organization of such--Connnie's offers something for everyone, even those of you who insist on eating salad at a bar. (Salad? With beer? Really?) The waitresses constantly amaze me with their perpetual and inexplicable ability to remember orders for a table of 12 without writing anything down--AND they'll give you your own individual check when you're ready to leave, without even being asked. The patio provides ample seating for the masses in summer, so pull up a seat and while away the day. You know--when it gets warm again.
