Used to be you would order at the counter and the food would be brought to you. There was a sign that said no tipping. Loved that about this place. Now you must sit down and wait for the 1 person working to come to you and ask what you want to order. A bowl of overcooked stale popcorn is given to you while you wait for your food. TV's are a bit too loud. Service is slow. I think they /think/ they're improving but it's going downhill. I won't be going back.
Review Source:Very dissapointing! What happened with the Osteria restaurant? I thought that a healthy store such as a Whole Foods, wouldn't have a junk food restaurant as this. The menu is full of fried foods, pizza and sandwiches which is no different than a typical bar meals. Â Also, the costumer service is really bad, they don't care about anything.
We ordered the specials because they seemed to be the healthiest choices. Bratwurst with sauerkraut and potatoe salad, which came with french fries instead and the sauer kraut was disgusting. Grilled mahi-mahi with vegetables and flavoured rice. The fish and the vegetables were okay but the rice was hard and very dry, definetely not fresh, really old. Vegetarian falafel with hummus, four tiny dry falafel balls over half slice tomato and no hummus at all. We had to ask to get hummus because it was ridiculous the thin layer that they spread unther the tomato. Â Of course, they served this meal also with french fries. Prior to this, they brought three bags of popcorn, that we even didn't touch, we were in shock to get this type of food at Whole Foods.
We took part of the rice with us to complain to the costumer service. The manager told us that we were the first costumers complaining about the food. He explained to us that actually they have a big success since the change of restaurants. He offered us to take food from the store home for dinner. We did, but at the time that we went to the cashier, the girl told us that we had a gift card waiting for us there. Â So we ended up paying food we didn't want since the gift card ($15.00) didn't cover the cost of the food we thought we were getting for free ($19.00)!
I don't know what they were thinking when they changed restaurants, but definetely I won't go back. This was no different at all from any other sports bar.
waiting til going here a few times before writing a review. wanted to break the review into 3 smaller reviews based on my experiences. so;
******READ AMENDED REVIEW ON THE BOTTOM TO SEE HOW THE PLACE HAS CHANGED*******
first time;
went opening night and the food, service was really good. based on this visit the place would have been a 4-5 stars. i got a hamburger with fried avocado. this is one of the few places in the state you can get a locally raised grass fed organic hamburger. burger was great. cooked right on target(medium) and with a nice roll. came with a side of chips which were eh. you could tell they sat for a while before getting served to me.
avocado was good as well. never had fried avocado but will be eating more. came with a dipping sauce that seemed mayonnaise based that had a subtle spiciness to it.
second time;
came with my wife. different servers and wow what a difference. the open kitchen was a mess! dirty dishes and small spills everywhere. granted it was an hour before closing but it was quit messy even still. she got a pulled pork sandwich, i just got buffalo wings.
the wings were average and her sandwich was average as well. except for the cook, who seemed to be running the place that night, all the other people working there didnt seem too interested in helping people. had to ask 3 times for a water, and had to ask for utensils as well. this is basic stuff. based on this visit i would have given it a 3 at best.
third visit;
wow. this place is going downhill fast. early afternoon, maybe an hour or so after they opened, and the place was already a mess. almost seemed like it wasnt cleaned from the night before. both cooks were sloppy and i even saw one commit numerous cross contamination errors.
while handling raw meat with gloves on, he then began prepping hamburger rolls on plates to go out to the customers waiting for the hamburgers he had just handled. numerous other items were touched while wearing those gloves. eventually he changed them. but the same thing happened again with other gloves.
needless to say im never going back. the only reason i gave it an extra star was for the selection of locally produced produce and meats on the menu.
sad that the people working here are so careless. i hope no one ends up getting sick.

Wanted to amend this review. after talking with someone at whole foods about the place a few months back they have drastically improved. been back numerous times and there is a big difference in both service and food.
they have since added table service. so now instead of going in and ordering your food from the register you can just sit and a server comes to you like in a normal restaurant. you are provided popcorn even if you are there for just a beer which is nice. but ive had to ask for water all times since starting to come again.
another improvement is the chef who had handle the raw meat and almost all the other kitchen staff are seemingly gone. there seems to be a "head chef" there who is present every visit since. the open kitchen looks clean and the food coming out of it is better as well.
and we have since had a baby and the place is very kid friendly.
First, I want to say I was dissapointed with this place as soon as I saw the menu. It's great they have a selection of micro beers, and some local food choices, but I don't think it is enough. I think a place that is made by whole foods should have a much healthier menu. I noticed pulled pork, fish and chips, and mac and cheese on the menu. They also had an avocado appetizer, but it was deep fried. I got the grass fed burger which is great, but it came with french fries. Everything also came with some popcorn, which I thought was pretty bland. My burger was ok, I had a love-hate relationship with the bun. I also got veggie chili on it which I would recommend. All in all, I won't be going back to eat there, although I think I will occasionally stop in for a beer.
Review Source:Stopped in yesterday for a spot of lunch before shopping at Whole Foods.
Interesting change from the previous restaurant, sort of a sports pub attached to Whole Foods.
Had a grilled salmon sandwich. It was a very large delicious piece of salmon.
Combined with a very tasty locally brewed beer, made a great and satisfying lunch.
Will definitely be going back!
