After hearing great things from co-workers, I had to visit the and try the homemade mozzeralla. We didn't have a reservation -recomended for best seating in small restaurant- but we were very comfortable in the "lounge" area. The service was amazing (always a plus) and they have an extensive wine list. The food was very good. We started with tableside made mozzeralla which was served with pesto (they have many options) and it was incredible although pricey at $18. We shared the popular chicken dish which was also very good. Cannot wait to go back for homemade pastas and this time with a reservation by the window to see the beautiful view of intracoastal.

Amazing mozzarella that they make table side! Great for a special occasion with friends.

The bartender, Walter, made this place memorable. Five whole whopping stars for this place because with a check in, you receive a glass of wine. FO' FREE. Of course, one free glass of wine turns into five or six glasses of wine, not for free. And then comes the appetizers, with a fancy performance of making art out of cooking, and then some more appetizers. Finally left with a bill over a hundred dollars, that's how they get you for their free glass of wine. ;)

I find the reviews on Campo Osteria to be somewhat exaggerated as well as over hyped. I was here when it first opened with the intention of it becoming a Todd English destination restaurant offering various unique Todd English menu items. However, that didn't seem to work out and the name Todd English has been removed as well as most of his designer type menu items.

Today it is basically an in house restaurant primarily serving the guests of the Il Lugano hotel, but still with very good Italian inspired food offerings such as a variety of fresh pulled mozzarella based dishes, a delicious clam in wine sauce, veal, pork and beef meatballs either constructed  jumbo with pomodora sauce or smaller sandwiched with bread. Also lamb meatballs with spaghetti or with fontina cheese, ricotta, basil, ciabatta and pomodoro plus dinner selections of sword fish, scallops with capers, tomato, olives and anchovy along a veal saltimbocco and one of favorite rack of lamb.

The setting is pleasant, comfortable offering with views of the Intracoastal.

Overall its good choice, a good solid three or four stars, but far distant from being five stars no matter how one might rate.

I visited on 8/28/12. It was amazing!!!! No longer a Todd English restaurant but service is outstanding and the food was delicious. The hostess was very friendly and  asked us if it was a special occasion (it was our anniversary). We chose to sit at the chefs table -- he prepared a couple of small dishes (seared scallop, anglonotti, lamb meatball dish, and creamy fresh pasta with seafood) and we also ordered the fresh mozzarella appetizer which is a must if you visit this place. Chocolate souffle for dessert was amazing. We ate way too much but it was soooo good we couldn't help it. Overall one of the best dining experiences I've had. The chef and waiter were great and made us feel like we are family. I wish I lived in Florida so I could visit more often. Cant wait to go back :)

This was my 3rd time here and it seems to be getting worse with each dining experience.  Arrived at 6:30 on Saturday evening and were the 2nd table, hoping to get good service, it start off well but went downhill after that.  The bread plate is excellent and you can tell it is baked in house. Of course, we ordered the table side mozzarella. It was good but be careful when ordering the large portion, it costs $28 and you get the same amount of cheese as the small portion. The only difference is the amount of side items and for an additional $8, is really not worth it. We also ordered the sautéed clams, which again for $16 was very underwhelming. Very small, no broth and just served on a plate with a garlic parsley sauce dripped on top.

Now it is time for the main course and it was really amazing how a restaurant of this (supposed) caliber messed up every entree.  First, my wife ordered a Filet cooked medium. It came out RARE. Of course we had to send it back and when it did return, everyone was done eating, plus the steak was now completely dried out and over cooked.

I ordered the Agnolotti Ruffino, which is a homemade ravioli. The flavor was good but the pasta was hard on the edge of each one. I did not feel like complaining since my wife was now eating this as her steak was being re-cooked.

Another diner ordered the fish of the day, Salmon. Again, a problem as it was served cold and dry.  She did not send it back just did not eat it.

Finally, the last diner ordered the Fruitti di Mare. He specifically asked for a white sauce and it came out as a Alfredo, which does not go with well with seafood.  Additionally, there were no scallops and when we asked the server he quickly apologized and scurried back to the kitchen. The scallops did finally arrive, after the dried out steak! At least they were cooked perfectly.

At this point we were all very dissatisfied with our dining experience. It was told to the manager, and several others and the real irony is that at the beginning of the meal one of managers said that they brought on a new Chef about 2 months ago and that he has improved the quality of the food. Well if this is the case then someone needs to get fired. At the end of the meal the server dropped of the bill of $230 and needless to say we were all shocked. This was the last straw, as one of the managers said that the whole meal was to be comped due to the mistakes but failed to let the server know.

With so much competition for Italian food, save your money and look up several other restaurants and I am sure that you will have a better dining experience than we did.

Just had dinner/mozzerella pulling class.  What a great time.  Was able to make our own table side mozzerella with a great group of people.  Chef Joe made it a lot of fun, and the food was phenomenal. Love the gnocchi too!

Let me say that I was a little skeptical of a hotel restaurant living up to the hype that I've read on previous reviews...boy was I wrong. My husband and I started off with the (Terra) fresh pulled mozzarella, which came with prosciutto, figs, and balsamic. We both expected it to be good, but this was OUTSTANDING!! Probably in my top 3 of the best appetizers I have had in a restaurant! Now, I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of mixing sweet with savory (figs with the prosciutto), but just the combo of the mozzarella with prosciutto and balsamic was exquisite! Additionally, the young man that prepared this tableside had a great personality, and made for a very nice experience. Moving on to the main courses, I got the jumbo meatball with pasta (not the lamb meatballs), and my husband got the special, which was lobster over taglioni in a vodka sauce. My initial thought was that he made the better choice, but the lobster tasted like it was cooked in very salty water (maybe the same water they use to prepare the mozzarella tableside), detracting from the sweet, rich taste a Maine lobster should have. I also would have expected the vodka sauce to be a little more rich and flavorful but was somewhat bland. My meatball and pasta was very good...not the absolute best I've had, because we have eaten at several Italian restaurants in the area, but it is maybe number 2. I can't comment on dessert because we were too full. They had a few dessert options, but nothing that was strong enough to sway me to order.
The ambiance was very nice, even though we were kind of smushed at a corner table between a large party and the bar, but it was a window table which was nice. I'm taking half a star away (out of 5) for food, and half a star for service, which wasn't bad, but it was a little slow. Overall, our dining experience was excellent, and I would recommend giving them a try!

The restaurant, da Campo, wants to be five stars, but it falls short. We were there for a post-wedding brunch, they had reserved 25 seats. When we went to eat, the staff had no idea what was going on. They had the reservation, but did not prepare, so we had 25 seats, but spread throughout the restaurant, not together. It took 45 minutes to get a cup of coffee. The food is very good, but you pay appropriately. They give you salt and pepper in little dishes, trying to be showy, but they usually forget to give you a little spoon, so you have to either shake it out (pouring too much) or use your fingers (in a shared bowl).
We ate dinner there, I had to try the table side mozzarella. I would give the restaurant 4 stars based on dinner. Again, like breakfast, you have to ask for salt and pepper, they take a while to ask for drink orders (not 45 minutes this time), we had to ask for bread (I don't mind it that much, but letting you know they have it and its free, it comes with three spreads, a tomato jam, a fig spread, and a tapenade if I remember right). We ordered three Super Mozzarellas for 10 people and every couple shared an app. The server asked if anyone wanted to make the mozzarella, I volunteered, since I was planning on trying at home soon. They start with the cheese curds. You (or the server) pour the curds into a large bowl, followed by hot water (180-200 degrees), now you gather the curds in the bowl and knead them (your hands burn, they tell you to wear 4 latex gloves, but that only delays the searing feeling). You knead and stretch the curds until it starts to look like fresh mozzarella, takes about 5-10 minutes (maybe less, the burning may have influenced my time keeping). You finished off the large ball of mozzarella into three smaller balls.  They look like the fresh mozzarella I would buy back in Brooklyn. We had caprese and a bunch of other accouterments (prosciutto,  tapenade, figs, etc). It was amazing. Everyone loved their food. It was  inexpensive for the experience. The entrees are pricey, but why buy an entree when you can get apps and desert. The staff is friendly from the busboys to the chef.
Sorry, it was so long. Go to da Campo, order the mozzarella, get your hands hot and wet, tell them I sent you.

Just had a great lunch here with my mom over the weekend.

The food was sooo good! Oh my god! We shared the mozzarella plate with the pesto which was incredible. We then shared the grilled chicken panini which was really good. The service was really good, and everyone was incredibly helpful.

The only issue we ran into was that we told them we had a problem with bell peppers and our panini came out smothered in peppers. The girl bringing the food out tried to tell us they were tomatoes, but our waiter came out immediately, apologized, and quickly brought us our new panini.

We were surprised that the place wasn't packed on a saturday afternoon, but i guess since it is a little pricey ($18 for above mozzarella appetizer) and its tucked into a hotel, people may not give it a try.

Try it! Big glass windows look out on the water, great food & attentive service.

Great Italian restaurant in a hidden location! Definitely dine at sunset when the Intracoastal Waterway views are at their peak. Tableside mozzarella is a must have, in addition to the Diver Sea Scallops! A must visit in the Fort Lauderdale area!

Fantastic gem of a restaurant.  Service is great from greeting to desert.  Speaking of which, the homemade gelatto is worth saving room for.  Even after the Osso Bucco and homemade table side mozzarella.    Even the small bar has  view over the Intracoastal.  Go!

This may be the nicest "room" in Fort Lauderdale, next to Chima, but the food should match the decor. It was a Todd English joint, but no more. The tableside-prepared mozzarella is still fun and delicious, but the rest of the menu is ordinary and not well-done. I have trued the ossobuco twice, it is dry, over-roasted and not tender. And $40?! in Florida?!The menu once billed saffron risotto but I was presented with mashed potatoes. Last night the gremalata mentioned was invisible, or at a better restaurant. The meat had no flavor, too dry to chew. Our waiter was a rude disaster and should be working at a gas station, but the man who prepares the mozzarella was a star. Go for the cheese, but have it in the bar tho so you are not tempted to try anything else for the menu. The rest of the menu has a little bit of everything, except flavor. Terrific pizza around the corner at Pizza Rustica. Todd English left for good reason.

I've never been to a restaurant the made fresh mozzeralla table side!  The consistency was different, but it was amazing, and serve with the 2 tapenades.  Dont fill up on this before your meal!  I also had one of the most BASIC Italian dishes, which I generally never order....spaghetti and one GIANT meatball.  It was pretty good for a non-New Jersey Italian meatball!  I would dine at this restaurant again, the only so-so comment I have is the service, overall it was kinda lame.  Not bad, but our waiter was such a dud.

Greeting:  The host was pleasant and welcoming. She knew the reservation name without looking down and quickly led us to our awaiting group.

Waitstaff:  The main waiter was initially polite, but quickly became rude and condescending in regards to us not being ready to order within ten minutes of sitting down.  We were a group of six and normally try not to order the same things when dining at a new restaurant.  When asked about the specials he walked over to read off of the card we were holding, literally reading out loud what the menu said.  Although this is not the worst thing, it did seem odd.  The odd turned worst as he proceeded to read item by item off the menu.  We politely asked him to come back in ten minutes so we could discuss.  He stopped every few minutes to check in.  This started to seem pushy.  The gentlemen was also dismissive when we mentioned a few issues with the food.  Nothing was done and no apologies were given.

Food:  The menu is pretty diverse for a small menu.  We started with the fresh mozzarella made table side and two other dishes. The fried gnocchi was average and the Caesar salad was on spot.  The Super Mozzarella spread was very tasty with the assortment of accompaniments. The preparation was interesting and the cook that conducted it was informative and welcoming.  One issue was that the tomatoes on the side had stickers on them still.  When we showed the waiter he replied with, "Oh, Thanks."  That was it.

For dishes the Pollo al Monte was very good.  The cabbage and red wine risotto was the highlight.  The Lamb Meatball was well done, but the Seared Scallops and Frutti di Mare were average, a bit under flavored.

The issue came with the Red Snapper.  It was really not fresh.  We mentioned it to the waiter as well.  He dismissed it with the sentiment of "some fish is fishy."  Anyone that has had red snapper knows this is not true.

The minor issues could have been cured with a better waiter.  A bad dish comes out of every kitchen from time to time, but the product itself was bad.  The fact it left the kitchen makes me think they have a lot of work to do.  They will not get a second chance.

Well, looks like we will be eating Ramen for a couple of months. This might have been the most expensive meal we have ever had. We weren't aware of the prices before dining here, and a friend's date picked the place. Was the money worth it? The table-side mozzarella is really cool, and it tasted devine! A little salty (we had asked for no salt, but the guy forgot and put it on anyway - he did offer to make another batch but we told him not to worry about it). I ordered the lobster & pasta dish - very good. My husband had the scallops. They were very large and delicious. Loved the balsamic glaze over the scallops. Probably will not dine here again because it's too pricey, but I could see us coming back for some appetizers (the mozzarella!) and dessert. Also, this place is not very big and the acoustics are terrible. It was so loud in here (we went on a Saturday). We had to basically shout to talk to our friends across the table.

This place was fantastic.  I first went with low expectations given it was a hotel restaurant.  I had both breakfast and lunch their during my stay at Il Lugano and both were superb.

One highlight of the restaurant was the homemade mozzarella.  While others had it made table side, we didn't but it was excellent nonetheless.  Some of the best mozzarella I've had.

Service was nothing special but the food I had was great.  Expect large portions to bring back to store in your fridge.

One of my favorite restaurants of all time.  The menu isn't extensive - but I have found that everything they do is to perfection.  They are very accommodating and tend to make me things that are not in the menu often when I request them (due to them either being not on the menu anymore or were a special on a certain night and are not offered on another night).  My favorites are their homemade pastas with lobster - I always request a light, wine, cream sauce whether its offered or not and a steak (usually whatever steak is the special of the night).  The stuffed raviolis are also amazing, stuffed artichoke, mozzarella, and beef carpaccio.

To say it exceeded my expectations is faint praise - wow! Some of the best table service I've ever experienced - attentive, warm but never obsequious. Menu is tight and well focused - with a great wine list that complements the variety of foods very well. Perfect for a special occasion or romantic dinner. With food to savor in such an amazing atmosphere you can't miss.

This spot used to be Todd English's restaurant. I'm glad it is no longer his namesake. The food has improved and the service continues to surpass expectation. Table side Mozzarella is not to be missed. I recently enjoyed the seafood far diavlo on homemade pasta. Despite that fact that Matarano's is just a block away, I would suggest the Italians give this place a ggod look.

Too bad I don't live around here to come back every sunday for their family style dinner. But the one time I ate here on my Florida trip has left me with such strong impression. The food was so yummy and plentiful and service was attentive. The chef came out at the end and chatted with us about how he made our dessert which was also very nice.

Their polenta fries was the best I've had anywhere and is what I use to measure all of my polenta fries against now. Their chicken and fish dishes were both very well made and their salads wee fresh and full of flavors.

All in all, I would strongly recommend this classy restaurant with much enthusiasm.

Dude they make fresh mozzarella at the table. The guys burns his hands in hot water, to smooth out the curds and serve you the best cheese around.

This place would be an easy 5 stars if the service was better.

    TRY THIS STUFF:
... Homemade Mozzarella with olives and prosciutto
    ... Meatballs
    ... Any flat bread
    ... House Salad

The bartender is great and makes a great cocktail, also the entire hotel is very nice and has a sweet view of the intracostal. They have an open kitchen and it is great to see how much attention they put into everything they serve.

I believe they have a set menu Sunday nights, I went once and it was INCREDIBLE.

I've been there for the tableside fresh made mozzarella about a dozen times, and it never disappoints.  Try it with several combinations: caprese, prosciutto, figs, olives, or walnuts.  My favorite waiter is Sergio, with his humorous personality and high energy.  I only had one bad experience when I brought my parents, (and we didn't get Sergio), and we couldn't ever seem to get served!  They traveled in from out of town, and it seemed like everyone around us got fed but us.

Otherwise, the food is good, but I give it 3 stars because aside from the mozzarella, you can get great authentic Italian food elsewhere in South Florida.  Some notable dishes:  butternut squash agnolotti, chicken milanese, scallop and oxtail raghu, mushroom risotto, or any of the fish specials.

Skip dessert and get it at a gelateria.  The dessert menu looks good, especially the tiramisu souffle, but fails to impress.

Okay, I have to premise this review on the fact that I have a really good friend who works here, at the bar.  We sat at the bar, drank and ate, a lot!  He was our bartender/server so, the service was AWESOME!!  Really, it's a no-brainer when you go to a restaurant and request to sit in your friends' section.  Thank you Rob for the company and stellar service!  You are the BEST!

Now, onto the food/drinks.  I started with a martini, the Bellini Martini.  It was delish!  I moved onto pinot noir after that since we were sharing appetizers and I am not a white wine fan.  We started with the fresh, pulled mozzarella. It is pulled table-side. We ordered the mozzarella with the olive accompaniment.  It was AMAZING!!  So fresh, creamy and went really well with the salty, savory olive tapenades.  We then split the mussels and my sister wanted the calamari so, what the heck,, why not?  The calamari was good, a little on the salty side actually, but good.  The star of the meal was the mussels!! They are baked in a tomato broth with capers and black olives. The amazing thing is that there is a thin sea salted bread layer baked OVER the bowl. It's crunchy and the mussels are hot and steamy. AMAZING!  My sister and I couldn't stop raving about the deliciousness! We were feeling celebratory and this was a great celebration meal!  We finished with the ciocolatto and the tiramisu souffle and the vanilla bean gelato. All were very good, the best was the deconstructed tiramisu souffle.  It's a warm, fluffy souffle.  You break into it and pour the cream into it and it is served with a side of espresso gelato.  Ummmm, YUMMY, obviously!

I am planning on coming back in 2 weeks with another friend who will be visiting from San Diego and I can't wait.  Maybe we'll get around to ordering a main course?!! I hope so!

Last weekend we had a small party in the private room - it was our annual office Christmas dinner. All seven of us thought we had the most amazing
meals and wonderful service.  We had the tableside, freshly made mozzarella to start and for dinner we had:  truffle risotto, wild boar with juniper berries, cauliflower and pappardelle, mussels and pasta bolognese. We rhapsodized throughout the entire meal and sampled each other's dishes. For dessert the incredible tiramisu (which I normally dislike) souffles.  I would encourage those with unhappy experiences to give this place another chance. Our server, Tiffany, was professional, knowledgable, efficient and very nice as were her helpers. Loved the whole experience!

I've been to Da Campo now a total of 3 times with each time being a great dining experience. I am a fan of the live table side pulled mozzarella with all of the fixings (ham, olives, nuts, figs, etc.), but I also would have to say that on Sundays they do a family style meal which is great for personal or professional dining occasions.

For years, I've been a fan of Todd English going to his various restaurants from Boston, South Florida, and Las Vegas. This location is very intimate and located on the Intercoastal.

I'm seriously shocked by the 1 and 2 star reviews because our experience at da Campo was amazing. Our server was attentive and friendly but what really wins the 5 stars is the down right delicious food! Let me start with the table side freshly made mozzarella. Definitely worth the price and such a fun item to share.  I normally don't order chicken in a restaurant but when I saw what came out on a neighboring table, I had to try it. It was one of the best baked chicken's I've ever had and the sausage bread pudding was totally to die for. It was even better the next day as left overs. Even the bread rolls were so good you would want to stick them in your purse! I would recommend to for a nice casual evening out.

I came here for my anniversary dinner, met the chef joshua, and he recommended the lobster pasta special.  Now, here this......
    WHAT A BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This place needs new management along with a  chef that is managing the final product, maybe we should call the show hells kiitchen for a helping hand.

Servce: -1 star , for the lack of service and attention from our waiter, whatever his name was, since he never introduced himself,  but he was a chunky, balding, latin dude. Never saw him until we asked for our check.  Where the hell, was my refills?

the only good service was the bus boy who served us water and said good evening.  The cheese guy was affable and was the hit of the night.

Food: Missuses had the diver scallops-good, but not great,  and the braised artichoke hearts, that tasted it like came from a progresso jar left in the refrigerator for a few days. It was supposed to be braised, i didn't know you could do that with a microwave.
I had the"chef's special"-  limp, sogggy, pasta, in a cream over- Salted sauce with tiny and I mean MICROSCOPIC piece of lobster.  I thought these shell-fish werent suppose to be exinct? but in my case they were.

Total rating a 1 star of disappointment.   Todd English, where are you???
the kitchen needs your help!! are you on vacation, buddy?

highly regarded by a close friend, so we tried it. ambiance is superb, food and service, not so much. two wrong orders, one under cooked meatball pizza (meatball was red pink). pasta seriously undercooked (and no, not al dente), lamb shank was over cooked. wine list was all expensive, non interesting bottles. our cheapest bottle was 42 bucks. our 1st bottle was a 60 bottle that tasted like a 8.99 bottle.

manager handled the situation nicely and like a gentleman. he explained he had a bunch of new staff.

    Todd English, I love you!
I'm surprised at the 1-2 star reviews. I had a great experience and thought that both the service, price point, and food were great. The bread basket was absolutely delicious, surprisingly so. I love the fact that they make fresh mozzarella table side. We ordered the one with everything but my favorite accompaniments were the prosciutto and figs. The basil crusted chicken was amazing but what I found to be the best thing we had that night was the tiramasu. I detest restaurant tiramasu for the most part. Most restaurants don't even make it with mascaropne but with whipped cream cheese they try to pawn off as mascarpone. Well, when I read the description of their deconstructed version, I knew I had to try it. It is a chocolate chip souffle (they had me at souffle, I won't lie), mocha gelato, and mascarpone crream. This was one of the best desserts I have ever had. It was divine. The souffle was an actual souffle not one of those molten creations restaurants love to call souffle but in fact is not. I'd urge everyone to go to this pretty restaurant if not for the food, for the dessert.

My snapper entree was very good but the broccoli with which it was served was cold.   Service was slow.  Not paced, slow.  (This was at lunch when the restaurant was practically empty).  My salad was old looking and dirty.  Seriously, there was dirt on the romaine and that and other greens were browning on the edges.  I didn't return my salad because we were having lunch with some people we'd just met and it had taken so long to order and have the salad served that I didn't want to prolong things.  Again, the fish was tasty.  My sweetie's spaghetti was homemade and delicious.  But overall? Absolutely not worth the expense.

"The single most disappointing dining experience in many years. The service was arrogant, slow and inattentive. The food was so disappointing that it is difficult to explain. Shrimp Scampi resembled something that a budget restaurant would present. The shrimp were small, overcooked and few. Dishes were sent back because the tuna smelled and tasted fishy, the scampi was tasteless as were the meatballs, and the management did nothing - except charge us for the returned food, even though it was brought to their attention. I see this experience and the establishment an embarrassment to the Todd English brand and the fine hotel that this restaurant resides in. What a shame!!"

We had a darn good experience there last night so I'm going to try to throw a little balance on to Stephanie's and Laura's experiences.  da Campo Osteria is in, I'm not going to mince words here, a lousy location; in a very nice hotel three blocks north of Oakland Park Blvd, on the Intercoastal, near, just about nothing. However, the small restaurant is decorated well with all tables having a clear view of the open kitchen, staffed by people that seem to take their jobs very seriously.  We walked in at 7 PM without a reservation, looking for a table for two.  The hostess was very nice and took us to the only remaining table.  I think we were lucky.  I think reservations are probably a good idea.  Wine's by the glass are usually a downer, but having made New Years' resolutions we decided not to go the full route.  The wine list is pretty comprehensive though they are not shy with their prices.  It's heavy on California selections and most Cabs 2006 and 2007 are over $100. I'm no expert on California, but it seemed pricey.  We had a glass each of Newton Chardonnay ($9) and a Conn Cabernet ($11).  They are good wines for wines by the glass and the prices seemed fair.  Keeping with our resolutions we had only one course each.  She had a Pizza Margarita.  It was really good.  Rectangular in shape, it is cooked in their gas fired pizza oven.  It is thin, and the crust, made in house, is terrific.  I would have liked more tomato sauce but she thought it was perfect.  I had spaghetti and meatballs (actually just one meatball - 8 oz) and it was fantastic.  The waiter said that the meatballs are his favorite and having never eaten here before, who was I to argue?  The service was competent and the meatball was great.  The check was moderate.  What more should we ask for?  Well, I think that with a famous chef, Todd English, we might ask for something better than good pizza and a good meatball.  Celebrity chefs have put themselves into a position of the clientele expecting something far out of the ordinary, something memorable.  This restaurant is good and we'll come back but it doesn't take your breath away.

Well it seems that a lot of good things have taken place since 12/21/2008 and 3/24/2009.

I found da Campo because I was staying in Il Lugano Hotel, where it is located.  I have reviewed the hotel separately.

First as to ambience.  It has a very pleasant atmosphere and the young woman who greeted and seated me was very pleasant.  The beauty of the place is two-fold, the open kitchen and a wonderful view of the "Inter-Coastal".

I had a different waiter on each of my two nights.  Both were helpful and attentive.  The bus staff also was at the table frequently and I had no issues with water (as another has mentioned) or any other of their services.

On the first night I started with the "wooden bowl" salad, and assembly of various greens as well as sliced vegetables.  Lightly tossed in a perfect vinaigrette it was very enjoyable.

That said, while I was having the salad, at the next table a special first course was being prepared and I was fascinated.  So much so that I ordered on my second night and it was as delightful as I expected.

It consisted of fresh, cow's milk, mozzarella made freshly, table side.  The curds of cow's milk were gently rolled and kneaded in  very, very hot water until they were perfectly rounded and ready to be served.

After slicing they were placed in the middle of a beautiful plate and surrounded by a sample of all of the accompaniments that included prosciutto and figs, olive tampenade, spiced peppers, a blend of raisins and walnuts.  It could have been a meal in and of itself.

On the first night I had a very tasty, bone-in, ribeye.  It was very good but, maybe, a little over-priced.  Still, I would order it again.

On the second night I ordered the 1/2 chicken, roasted in the oven, with a delightful garlic sauce.

I would not hesitate to eat here again or recommend it.  Of course, all restaurants have their good days and bad days so I will hope that they have reached a level of consistency.

Ok, well i've never written a poor review so here goes...

My parents and I went to da campo for their anniversary dinner. Hearing that it's a Todd English restaurant we wrongly assumed that it would be a great experience.

We arrived right on time for our reservation and the hostess first asked if i would like a complimentary glass of wine (im thinking this is great). She then handed me a shot glass sized drink that was so small i couldnt even drink out of it. but hey it was a nice thought.
So then the hostess goes to find our table....literally 5-7 minutes later she came back to tell us it would be a few more minutes. 5-7 minutes? seriously? she just left us there standing as there were no seats left in the lounge area.

This was a red flag to me.
We took a look at the menu ...1 fish item which was snapper, a few meats, and a bunch of pasta. nothing special stood out so i was hoping for a few good specials --only to find out there arent any.

We ordered our drinks and then our meals:
Appetizer we ordered the fresh mozzarella that is made table side. this was the one aspect of the restaurant that i enjoyed.  it was great. we ordered the standard caprese ($15)

My father got a side salad that didn't look like anything special ($10).

    For our entrees
my mother got the Marsala snapper (she didnt complain) (around $25 i believe)
my dad got the filet which was slightly overcooked but seemed to be ok as well (around $30-35) He ordered a side of potatos as nothing comes with the entrees ($8-$10)

i got the basil crusted chicken. There was nothing "wrong" with it but it definitely was not worth the $24 they charge for it. I tend to inhale all food in front of me and i barely touched the meal. I also ordered the potatoes as a side.

Throughout the entire meal they came to refill my water 1 time, and never asked if i would like a second glass of wine. A dinner for 3 took over 2 hours. 1.5 hours i probably did not have a beverage in front of me.

They cleared our plates and we ordered after dinner drinks. This took about 20 minutes, and my espresso was burned.

Atmosphere: right on the water which is very nice, but the seating is VERY close to each other and the restaurant was very loud. we kept finding ourselves screaming.

I wish i could have written something better, but i would definitely NOT go back, and would recommend others to do the same.

We also noticed the table next to us sent something back to the kitchen..

Hopefully others will have a better experience...
