We had the most wonderful meal a few weeks ago and couldn't wait to come back. Big mistake. bIG Mistake. Service was slow. The Gnocchi which was so wonderful was now made with Ricatta instead of potato and the was so much mint it was the only thing you tasted. Ugh.  Then I got the shrimp appitizer. Awful and uncooked. The duck was mediocre and the sea bass sauce had no pizazz the owners mother was not there and we wondered if that was why they were so off.
    Won't rush back this time.

Food was mediocre but took a star away for the rude service. Went on a Tuesday night with a friend. Halfway through dinner, the server asked if we were done. We said we were still working on it. Another server came by and asked if we were done, in the rudest tone. Confused as to her attitude, we did the "uhh" for a second, had it packed to go and left shortly thereafter.

I understand if it's the weekend and they have a wait list going but... actually, even then, it's pretty rude. Would never go again.

I have been to Danny Brown's several times and have never been disappointed. The last time I went was to celebrate our six year wedding anniversary.

Lets start with the service, excellent as usual. Ordered extra bread, which was not a problem and our drinks and needs were quickly attended to.

The food is excellent. I started with the Foie Gras special. I love Foie Gras and Danny Brown's does an excellent job with the Foie Gras. I was savory and just melted in your mouth. For dinner the Hanger Steak was also excellent! The frites and the red wine butter was a excellent compliment for the steak.

I am not a dessert person but I tried the flour less chocalate cake. OMG that dessert would turn me in to a dessert freak! It was awesome!

Can't wait for my next dinner at Danny Brown Wine Bar!

Michelin rated restaurant? Yes thats the tire company btw and they apparently make a guide every year on the finest places to eat around the world. Danny Browns is the only michelin rated restaurant in Queens so I decided to take a friend out for dinner to see what the hype was about.

Appetizer; calamari (now this isnt the typical fried variety you find at most italian places, they were thin strips of plain calamari in a light sauce served over some lentils. Very, very good, in fact its the best calamari I think ive ever had, it practically melts in your mouth -- a must have if you go here.

Entree: I had the pork tenderloin served rare in a sweet marmalade (very juicy/tender), and my friend had the duck confit (which I should have had, it was excellent).

Dessert: I normally am not a dessert person, but they had flourless cake (basically chocolate held together in cake form with a lot of eggs. It was so rich and went great with the expresso I had with it.

For the amount of food we had the price was excellent about 45 a person altogether given the quality and reputation of the restaurant. Overall a great place for a date night, etc. Make sure you get reservations in advance!

I first became interested in going to this restaurant when I heard that it was the only Michelin starred restaurant in Queens.  Maybe I hyped myself up too much before going, but Danny Brown's was a bit of a disappointment.

Let's start with the pros first.  They have a superbly curated selection of wines that wouldn't overwhelm or intimidate even the newest of wine drinkers.  The service was consistent and our waitress wasn't shy about making recommendations.  The dessert definitely stole the show.  We ordered the buttermilk vanilla panna cotta which was light and perfectly complemented by the rhubarb.

Now the cons.  The bread was as hard as a rock and definitely not deserving of a Michelin starred restaurant.  The gnocchi was doused with shaved parmigian that took over the plate.  The Organic Chicken, while flavorful, was extremely dry which ruined it for me.

Danny Brown's is a decently priced restaurant that feels like it has the potential to be great, but just didn't deliver for me on that particular day.

Loved it. I was in the mood for something new, so my first thought was to head to Manhattan. My bf didn't feel like driving, and he's my driver lol, so I went on a mission to find a nice restaurant in Queens. Happy I did!

FYI: The menu linked to Yelp isn't 100% accurate. I wanted to try this place bc of the Yelp pics of the Carbonara pasta and Risotto, but neither of these options were available. I was disappointed but once I order, that quickly went away. ALSO, the bf and I made a 5pm reservation. They open for dinner at 5pm so I can't really comment on how busy it can be or if reservations are definitely needed. Anyway...

    APP:
Hand Made Ricotta Gnocchi....5 stars. Cooked perfectly. Good flavor combo. Nice size portion.
Tuna Tartare.....my bf seemed to love this dish. I didn't try it bc I'm allergic to fish. But if tuna is your thing, I'd say go for it.

    ENTREE:
Roasted Loin Of Lamb....5 stars. Lamb was tender. Sauce was reallyyy tasty.
Organic Chicken Under A Brick....5 stars. Awesome crust on the chicken that makes me want to learn how to make this at home. Yummy potatoes and vinegary escarole went well with the chicken.

    DESSERT:
Roasted Peach.....2 stars. Good concept. It was peeled perfectly and looked good, but tasted like a regular peach I would buy from a fruit stand. The pistachio sauce it was paired with also didn't wow me. I'd try a different dessert next time.

SERVICE: 4 stars....our waitress was okay. She was a little soft spoken, didn't hear the daily special and didn't bother asking her to repeat herself. But, the bus boys kept our water glasses full and cleared our plates almost immediately after we finished eating. Awesome.

BILL: $115 for 2 of us. We only drank water.

OVERALL: Would def recommend. Great hidden gem in Queens.

This place was everything I had hoped for when I booked it for Mother's Day dinner. There was absolutely no frills or pretentiousness you risk with Michelin starred restaurants and you're paying about half the price given its locations.

We went with the recommendations of my fellow Yelpers so we ordered the Grilled Calamari and the Organic Chicken Under a Brick. My parents favor a bolder taste than most modern American cuisines offer and Danny Brown hit the spot.

In my mind, the chicken ranks at the top of my favorite chicken dishes along with the Chicken for Two at the NoMad.  I imagine cooking a chicken is extremely scientific. The notoriously bland meat can only be brought to life by a few select chefs and the Chicken Under a Brick does just that. Staying on the mathematical theme, I imagine there is a parabolic function that graphs the juiciness to tenderness of the meat and the truly master chefs are the ones that are able to gauge where the vertex is, i.e. maximum juiciness.

We also had a bottle of 2006 Portuguese Syrah for around $42. Amazing wine for the price point with a nice peppery hint but a softer palate with a stronger fruitiness which I believe is more typical of South American Syrahs.

All in, it was a great experience. My dad was as loud as he typically is when he has a few glasses of wine in him and the waiters did not seem to mind. The whole restaurant was lively and the atmosphere was casual, which is a relief for fine dining.

I was intrigued when I heard this is the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Queens. The interior is very warm and I found myself making mental notes to steal the lighting and color balance for some faraway living room I believe I'm going to have some day. But color schemes don't earn Michelin stars, so let's dive into the food...

The meat and cheese board was delicious and you can select your own. Our waitress recommended the chicken under a brick over the steak. I always am skeptical of a standout dish that is so simple but this organic chicken was very nicely cooked, with really concentrated flavors and a thin, crunchy skin. The duck and pasta also got rave reviews.

    Definitely make a reservation!

I wish this place could get six stars!
After reading so many great things about Danny Brown's, I decided to head on over.
I am so glad I went, and I asked myself why haven't I been here before!
The cheese board was absolutely outstanding!  One of the best I've ever had!
Grilled Calamari is also a must on the appetizers.
The lamb and the steak for entrees were unbelievable as well.
What made this place so special is their wine list!  Most impressive?  They had a dessert wine flight!  I've never seen that before.
I was bowled over by it all.  It is definitely a place everyone should try just once.  I know for a fact that after one time, you'll be hooked.

Fantastic food, good service and laid back ambience.
I got the chicken...I don't think I've had any better.  My wife had a pasta dish which she enjoyed as well.

The service was very helpful as well.  They gave my wife a few tastes of wine to decide which one she wants.  All without prompting.

A great place to have here in Forest Hills!

    Great Food and Excellent Service!!

The Duck Confit is to die for!!! and my friend had the organic chicken-perhaps the juiciest chicken I've ever tasted!!! The servers are well in-tuned with the menu and all suggestions were brilliant.

Even great for a drink at the bar and splitting a meat/cheese plate with another-the ambiance is spot on!:)

    Their service deserves 5 stars!

The food however, was good, but nothing special. My 3-star rating is for the food. I didn't come here for the wine, so maybe I didn't get the full experience.

    Grand cheese and meats plate:
Very good. I loved the almonds and the mustard. Pate was delish. The price wasn't bad, the plate is huge!

    Cauliflower soup:
We split two orders, so each person had about a shot of the soup. It was good, but anymore and it would've been too much! It was very rich and creamy.

    White asparagus appetizer:
Good, but nothing amazing. I could make this at home!

    Carolina shrimp appetizer:
It was pretty tasty, the shrimp was cooked perfectly.

    Scallops:
Ok. The scallops were really fresh, but the sides were not browned enough.

    Roasted lamb:
It was a really tiny piece of lamb for $40. It was smaller than the size of an index card... 4x5 inches, maybe even less... and it was not even that good.

    Hangar steak:
Texture was a bit rubbery. Not that bad, but I've had better hangar steaks.

    Duck confit:
    Good, but nothing spectacular.

    Spaghetti:
This actually tasted really good. There were olives in the sauce, but they were not too overwhelming.

    Marscarpone cheesecake:
Very good, a very light cheesecake. It was perfect when combined with the walnut crust.

    Flourless chocolate cake:
Very good. Very rich and chocolatey.

    Poached pear:
Good, just like any other poached pear.

    Sweet crepes:
    Good, but nothing special.

    Lemon tart:
OMG, it was so sour!!! It was impossible to finish it.

I really enjoyed my meal here. I'm a tapas girl so when I read the reviews for Danny Brown's, I was eager to try. The small meat and cheese board was great and perfect for 2 people. Overall, it was a really good meal. Our waitress was lovely as well.

Just got back not minutes ago, so this review is coming from a fresh experience.

We arrived at 6:00 PM, my girlfriend and I. We were promptly seated as the place was empty except for wait staff. We were handing menus straight away and worked through the menus quickly as we had already studied what we wanted by looking at menus online before heading down there. Our appetizers were the ham croquettes and the sausage. The sausage was good, although a small portion. However, it is something that I could replicate I believe. The croquettes I don't think I could replicate though, but I wasn't blown away by them. To give size and quantity estimates the croquettes were 4 ping pong balls and the sausages were typical breakfast sausage size.

After finishing up the appetizers we got our main courses in about 12 minutes. I had the hangar steak and my girlfriend had the duck. The duck is something I could not replicate and it was quite fatty and delicious, probably the best part of the whole meal. The hangar steak however was terrible. I ordered it medium rare and it came rare. DARK DARK RED. It also at the same time wasn't juicy for some reason. There was no seasoning on it as well so it had no flavor. The sauce on the underside of the steak also was a bit devoid of flavor except that it added a sort of gaminess/sourness to it. I've had better diner steak. I'm not some catty yelper either, I hardly ever do reviews unless I spend a load of money and the dinner is TERRIBLE.

They did take it back to the kitchen, and the waitress said that the chefs would make a fresh plate. HOWEVER it came back as the same exact steak just fired longer. I could tell that it was the same due to having eaten two sections of it and the length being the same when it went back and when it came back.

So, while my girlfriend had a much better experience than I did, I rate this place a 2. 1 star for actually serving food to people and 2 for having a good busboy/waiter.

I came in thinking the food would at least be decent, and it's really not hard to cook a steak, especially if you've gone to culinary school. I really can't believe this place has a Michelin Star. Totally dumbfounded.

We were staying in the neighborhood, so we decided to come check it out.  Apparently its the only Michelin-starred restaurant in Queens.    The food was ok but definitely not as good as we expected.

I wasn't very hungry, so I had two apps: a cauliflower soup ($9) (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/danny-brown-wine-bar-and-kitchen-forest-hills?select=Z9KpqlqXhN_329-Np7GdxA#Z9KpqlqXhN_329-Np7GdxA">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>) and a special poached egg with truffle oil and mushrooms ($12) (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/danny-brown-wine-bar-and-kitchen-forest-hills?select=Z9KpqlqXhN_329-Np7GdxA#GvezSZ4pX0MzWWmamyXAJQ">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>).  The soup was good.  It was thick and creamy with a strong but not overwhelming cauliflower flavor.  There was a huge portion of it, which was nice, but it was hard to eat all of it because it was so creamy and rich.   I requested the egg poached a little well done than normal, and they interpreted this as hard-boiled.   This is my fault, I should have explained what I wanted better (an egg with the yolk mostly set) but the egg was not really to my liking.  The truffle oil also made the whole thing very oily, and I wasn't a big fan of the greens and mushrooms on the side.  The buttery brioche bread the egg was served over was amazing, however.  My husband had spaghetti putanesca ($21) (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/danny-brown-wine-bar-and-kitchen-forest-hills?select=Z9KpqlqXhN_329-Np7GdxA#5pQM0VxowzaLiKminAPrTg">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>).  He didn't really care for it.

Our server was nice but came across as very inexperienced.   Our main dishes (my husband's spaghetti and my egg) took a long time to come out and she told us it was because the kitchen was having trouble preparing my egg.   Kind of a weird thing to tell a customer.  In retrospect, I should have taken that as an opportunity to clarify how I wanted the egg prepared (although the way she said definitely didn't invite comment - she kind of just said it and walked away).  Also, my husband requested his spaghetti without olives.   The waitress said it had olives in the sauce that couldn't be removed, but that she could remove olive garnishes.  When it came out, it had lots of whole olives on it.

I would definitely give this place another shot if we lived in NY.  It's affordable and the food wasn't terrible, just not great.  It's possible we ordered wrong.  But I expected more, given the Michelin star and 4.5 Yelp stars.

I always try to walk into a restaurant without any pretense, but with comments flying around about Danny Brown earning a michelin star, it's sometimes a bit hard to go in with a clear mind. I was hopeful to say the least. Reservations were put in place for our 7pm Wednesday dinner for four. Walking into this establishment, denotes quaint yet cozy. There's something about it that makes it feel classy, yet not pretentious. We were promptly seated and handed over wine and dinner menus. On Tuesdays & Wednesdays, Danny Brown offers a three course prix fixe menu for $28 that occasionally changes. We had intended to come for this, but there were just too many things we wanted to try, so only one of us, myself, wound up going for the prix fixe: Roasted Cauliflower Soup, Bouillabaisse, and Buttermilk Vanilla Panna Cotta for dessert. Luckily, I was able to try everyone's dishes.

    - Roasted Cauliflower Soup ($9.00) complimented with Romesco & "Sourdough". The soup was thick in consistency, but somehow was far from rich. It turned out to be somewhat plain and boring. My palate was not even refined enough to barely notice the cauliflower flavor. A huge letdown.

    - Grilled House Made Merguez ($12.00) with Red Currant, Mustard Greens, Preserved Lemon & Harissa. The merguez was balanced with spices and flavors to make it for a very tasty sausage.

    - Hand Made Potato Gnocchi ($13.00) - Fava Beans, Asparagus, Saffron & Shaved Parmigiano. The gnocchi were thick yet soft, without being too chewy. A satisfying and solid appetizer, yet nothing out of the ordinary.

    - Bouillabaisse in a tomato-based broth, complimented with peas, potatoes, monk fish, mussels, and other seafood. I was not at all impressed by this fish stew. The fish were fresh and cooked soft yet maintaining a firmness, however the flavors from the broth seemed to be lacking, or rather light. The best part of this dish were probably the two small pieces of sliced hard bread topped with an orange rouille. Yum!

    - Risotto ($23.00) complimented with Taleggio, Bresaola, English Peas & Bresaola Fricco. This was by far the best dish of the evening! The risotto still maintained it's form but cooked enough to a creamy consistency. Balanced flavors made this an outstanding dish.

    - Roasted Organic Wester Ross Salmon ($29.00). The small piece of grilled salmon sat on top of a bed of French green lentils, wilted watercress, and bacon in a red wine glaze. was firm but not overcooked. It's a dish that was satisfy the healthy mindset people, but it somewhat ordinary.

    - Buttermilk Vanilla Panna Cotta ($9.00). The panna cotta was firm yet gelatinous. It was simple and not too sweet. The Rhubarb compote served underneath was also light, complimenting perfectly. Portions were somewhat small, which I'm guessing is somewhere around 3 oz. with 4-5 spoonfuls.

The wait staff was very courteous and helpful, always making sure things were alright. An older plain-clothes lady occasionally came by to drop off our wine and cocktail glasses. It was weird at first until I found out later that evening that she was Francoise Brown, Wine Director and mother of Danny Brown.

Overall, Danny Brown was an enjoyable experience but it did not scream out winning any high praises. All dishes were somewhat ordinary, dare I say, almost forgettable. Portions were small for the most part, which I can I understand as people come here more for the pleasure of enjoying the quality of the ingredients rather than going for quantity. Wine selection was very good, but wine alone is only a piece for a memorable dining experience. Danny Brown, I was really really rooting for you, finally after 2-3 years of wanting to visit, but I have to honestly say it was more hype than anything. But to be fair, it did win a Michelin star so I might have to give this place another chance.

As is the case with other posters, I would give the restaurant 3.5 stars if that were possible. First the pluses. The room itself is very pretty and has a nice vibe. Good crowd and busy bar and of course a large wine selection. I found the service to be attentive.

However, when you're charging $25 and up for entrees the food should be superior to what you can find at other good and trendy Queens restaurants. In particular, when you serve Manhattan-style skimpy portions in Queens, the food should knock your socks off. Danny Brown didn't succeed on that front for me and my wife on our first visit.

The good: We had white asparagus with crab meat special that was flavorful, with a nice mix of tarragon. Pricey at $18 but at least it was different. The duck, as others have posted, is crispy and tasty; however, you're getting one small leg and that's it.

The bad: The sauteed pollack was absolutely tasteless with a thick tomato-paste sauce that did nothing to enhance the fish. My wife and I are fish nuts, from Chinese-style to Greek, and this was truly a disappointment. Perhaps the restaurant just doesn't do fish well.

Overall, the experience at Danny Brown provides a nice evening and I'd go again, but at these prices versus quality I won't go running back on a regular basis.

Excellent food and service as always. Wife had the Serrano ham croquettes, mushroom risotto and the flourless chocolate cake. I had the brisket ravioli followed by the duck confit (cooked to perfection...moist, tender meat nearly falling off the bone, no knife required! Gorgeous, crispy skin) and the vanilla panna cotta with clementine (normally flavors found in the summer, but was so delicious!) Jayne, our server, was excellent and actually helped me decide by recommending the duck for me. Doug, the maitre d', was accommodating and pleasant. Overall, the finest restaurant in Queens!

I really despise having to update a review and give less stars but tonight's Anniversary Dinner left me with no choice. The food is still delicious but the service is atrocious!

So why drop it 2 stars? Service.

7:50pm   The last 2 of the party arrives (us) and we waited for a menu. We never got one. I tried to wave someone down but there was no one to wave to. We waited 20 minutes and our waitress showed up to take our orders. We ended up just sharing menus, which made the deciding process very tedious.
We were not offered bread, meanwhile all the other tables were served bread while waiting. We had a young child at the table who was waiting for bread, it's his favorite part of the meal.

8:25pm  Bread came out with our Cheese/Meat plate. Later, before our meals, we were offered bread but it came with no butter or olive oil.
The wait staff is NEVER around. We sat by the window and barely saw our waitress. She was cold, but not rude. She did not seem invested in our table. Often times we had to wait and wait and wait to request something.

8:50pm   Our meals were great, the Cheese and Meat plate, the croquettes, the Duck, The Hangar steak, the Chicken. All excellent. The hangar steak was very small, nothing like the one we 1st had for our 5 star review. The Pollack... cooked well but the Alffonso Olive sauce was bitter, perhaps it's because I am not a fan of olives. But with all the sauces combined it was decent.

    9:30pm   Desserts!
The Mascarpone Cheesecake was melt in your mouth delicious. The Roasted Pear, Yum. Panna Cotta - bland (Rhubarb was good).
This is the point when I decided, I need to re-review Danny Brown.
We ordered 3 desserts to share and they delivered them to our table. That was it. No plates. Are we really in a Michelin star restaurant? They really expected 6 adults to reach over one another and hope the dessert makes it to our mouths before it hits the table? We actually gave our server the benefit of the doubt, maybe she had no hands and will come back with plates. Nope. She came by to get water for another table and never came back.
Again, we waited and waited and waited. We had 3 people waving their arms trying to get someone's attention. When they came (after wild arm waving) we requested plates and they were like.. "small plates?" Yes. Plates. To eat on.

Overall, everyone enjoyed themselves. But we had raved about DB and it was a huge disappointment to us compared to our last anniversary dinner.

A hidden gem in Queens!! Wine selection is superb. Not pretentious but a sophisticated crowd. No hipster scene here. It is nice to know that there are still some places like this. If you are in this neighborhood, a must visit for some great wine and food... And oh dessert!!!! OMG!
    I'll be back for sure.

After reading many reviews and seeing such good reviews i had to check out the place for myself, i went there with high expectations and surely enough i was dissapointed. I ordered the duck entree and the roast pork.

Unless the standard in queens is less than par to Manhattan, there is no way i can honestly say this restaurant deserves 4-5 stars, 3 at best.

I had wanted to visit Danny Brown Wine Bar & Kitchen for some time after reading all the wonderful reviews.  I was excited to dine at a Michelin rated restaurant in Queens.   Last night my husband, son and friend went to dinner and were underwhelmed.

Food: I ordered the risotto which I found to be too salty for my taste.  My friend and husband had the steak and fries and my son the burger.  My husband said the meat was tender but he had equally good steak for less elsewhere.  Ambiance: It felt like a business lunch in Midtown Manhattan.

All is all our experience was underwhelming.  There are dozens of other restaurants with better ambiance, food and price in NYC.

I have been here many times in the past and its not the city but in Forest Hills the bar is low. But things change and the bar has gotten low or at least to comfortable. . Here's the sad story: He ordered the steak and I ordered the chicken. The chicken was fine but I've had better(Fairway roasted organic). The steak was the nightmare. Tough and Inedible. The gentleman proceeded to insinuate we didn't know steak...foolish mortal.
    The End.
    Really the end.

I was looking for a Manhattanesque restaurant without having to travel far and I found it!  The decor is nice - dim lights, candles, wine racks lining the wall.  Perfect for a date or to catch up with a friend.

Appetizer - small cheese board for 2 people, you get to pick 3 cheeses and 3 meats from their list.  There was plently for us to share.  I loved the pate.  I can't remember the names of the cheeses but it was all good.  The waitress refilled our bread basket when we were down to two slices without us having to ask for it.  Great service all around, didn't have to ask for water refills either.

Appetizer - croquettes.  Pretty good, not to familiar with croquettes but I'd say these were good.

Entree - risotto was amazing!!  I also got a side of the rosemary skillet potatoes which were ok.  I could have done without them, but to be fair I was prety full already!

I had the European winter red flight which is a great way to try 3 different wines at once.

Dessert - buttermilk vanilla panna cotta.  Delicious!  The syrup was sour but balanced well with the sweetness of the panna cotta.

Loved this place and I can see myself coming here again.

Wonderful, a true gem in Queens.

Live nearby and have already found far too many occasions to treat ourselves to dinners here.

Attentive service, pleasant atmosphere, and fantastic food (the duck confit and steak are both highly recommended)...

We decided to try this Forest Hills wine bar after seeing that they've got a Michelin star. They have a prix fixe menu for $28 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so we tried that option on our visit. The food was good but not impressive. Both entrees we had lacked in flavor. More impressive was the wine selection and with the reasonable prices we decided to get a bottle.

The staff are all very nice and friendly and I did like the atmosphere of the place. I think if I were to come here for wine, cheese, and charcuterie I might enjoy it more.

I went here for my sister's birthday with my mom a couple of years ago and boy was i surprised that this place was in Queens. Typically Queens is made up of takeout shacks, pizza and diners. This place could fit in any swanky area of Manhattan. At first when my mother told me that it was a French restaurant, I turned my nose up and laughed. Being French and bias, I was in for a disaster. The setting was dimly light, tables weren't awkwardly set up at all. The food could have been the last thing I ate. This is the perfect place for anniversaries or trying to impress your boyfriend or girlfriend, The charcuterie (however that is spelled) appears to be a little small, but its delightful to have on the side along with the sophisticated meals from the menu.

Two words, Absolutely Fabulous!-This is why people should come to Queens.

One word to describe this place.... Amazing!! The boyfriend surprise me with this Michelin rated restaurant in QUEENS for Valentine's weekend.

We usually eat dinner pretty late so I was surprise why he made RSVP for 7pm. But given the crowd I saw when we got there I got the point. The place was filled people, if we didn't have RSVP we wouldn't have a chance to eat there like the other people they turned away since no tables were available for hours.

The ambiance is pretty romantic and chic, dimmed lights and small candles on the table. It's a little crowded since they place tables a little close together. They have a bar in the middle as well, it's a nice after hour place or for date night dinner like ours.

I love how they have wine flights. It was my first time to see some serve wine flight. I think it's perfect for someone like me who's very picky when it comes to wine and don't really want to order a whole glass since I'm not sure if it would compliment the food correctly. It's also great for someone who's still trying to figure out their wine liking.

They also have a selection of cheese for appetizers; however, since I'm not a big fan of cheese. I didn't try any of the cheeses. But seems like they have a wide variety of selection for cheese lovers.

We started our meal of with their Homemade Ravioli, Grilled Chorizo and Grilled Calamari. The Ravioli was AMAZING. Since I'm not a cheese lover, I usually don't order Ravioli but since this one is with beef briskets. I decided to give it a try, it did not disappoint. They pasta was soft and tender while the inside is filled with flavor. It's definitely a MUST when you're here. the Chorizo (sausage) and calamari were good as well. Fresh and simple. My boyfriend had the Hanger Steak and I have the roasted skate with a side of Brussels sprouts. My boyfriend loved the steak and my skate is cooked to perfection.

    I highly recommend this restaurant!

Food was good,  service was good, the bartender was very nice but not too knowledgeable on somethings which was strange from a place awarded a Michelin star!  Place is open for 4.5 hours a day.   Overall a very nice experience but its not a place I would go back too,  I rather spend that kind of money somewhere else!

My visits to Danny Brown Wine Bar & Kitchen embodied everything a 5 star dining experience should be. The atmosphere can best be defined as intimate, yet chic. They've succeeded in doing the most they could with somewhat limited space. The servers are extremely knowledgeable and well trained. If you were to quiz them on their menu, wine list or specials of the day, I don't doubt that they'd all pass with flying colors.

I've tried a variety of appetizers and entrees from their menu: everything ranging from grilled calamari to merguez to skate to their famed duck. Everything was cooked, plated and presented to perfection. Portions aren't of the hearty variety, but that's to be expected when dining at a restaurant of this quality. In that respect, I'd say that the portions are extremely fair. Their wine list is impressive: I've ordered a bottle on every visit, and gone with the recommendations of my servers and have never been disappointed. Dessert too, which I normally try to refrain from ordering, could not be passed up here. Personally, I enjoy their lighter dessert options best. The poached pear with creme fraiche and the panna cotta were a delightful way to end our meals.

I normally reserve Danny Brown for more special occasions as opposed to casual nights out. However, their three course pre-fixe offered on Tuesday and Wednesday makes them a considerably better choice for mid-week dining for all those on a budget. If not in the mood for a meal, the wine itself merits a visit, and their Beaujolais in particular is an excellent choice.

Michelin star-worthy dining in the great boro of Queens?  You better believe it.  I have been here twice and both times, I have been impressed from start to finish.

First things first, please make a reservation, especially if you plan on dining here later in the week or on the weekends.

Both times I have been here has been mid-week, so a pre-fixe menu ($28) is available.  My most recent visit was last night, which was the beginning of Restaurant Week, so there was another pre-fixe menu available for $35.  I went with the Restaurant Week pre-fixe.

My starter was grilled calamari with white beans, rosemary, and arugula.  The calamari was grilled to perfection and served in a small bowl with soft white beans and spicy arugula.  Everything about this dish just worked.  Delicious.

For my main course, I had the sauteed wild merluza.  It was served with cipollini onions, pancetta, and saffron-clam orzo.  Once again, this combination was so perfect.  The merluza was mild and the onions and pancetta were the perfect complement.

Lastly, for dessert, I chose the flourless chocolate cake.  Sinful, rich, and purely decadent.  It was so good, my friends were also helping themselves to it.

The service is consistently excellent.  They're helpful, friendly, and prompt.

The restaurant is very small, dimly lit, and romantic.  Obviously, the wine list is quite comprehensive.  It's the perfect place to celebrate an anniversary or to bring a date you really want to impress.

    5 solid stars.

Went here on a Thursday night. The place was lightly busy and the service was excellent.

My friend tried the pasta special, which she said was great. I got the Roasted Skate, which was cooked perfectly. It came on top of a quite rich cauliflower purée with hazelnut brown butter and broccoli rabe. This was beyond rich - a touch excessive for such a lovely dish.

For dessert, I had the panna cotta, which came with a nicely super tart orange sauce. The panna cotta was definitely over done - and seemed like there was a gelatin or something in it because it was too firm. My friend got the apple tart which she found rather basic and like something her grandma would have made (aka nothing really special).

Next time, I'm going to order my meal before ordering my wine because mine didn't go very well with my fish.  Live and learn.

Overall a nice experience at a lovely restaurant.

    It's a fancy date-night place :).

Ok, there are cons, but not enough cons to warrant anything less than 5 stars. So our waitress was a tiny bit strange and had very specific rules for how we were to order (everything from appetizers to drinks to the entrees had to be ordered all at once...no game-time decisions allowed!). Also, the portions aren't huge.

Now for the pros, and there are many pros. The portions aren't huge, for one thing. Yes, I realize I listed that as a maybe-con, but it's a definite-pro, since you're not stuffed to the point where you've forgotten your entire meal because all you can think about is the long swig of Alka-Seltzer you'll be taking when you get home. Put simply, it's excellently executed food from start to finish. I had the skate, which was perfectly flaky and soft, and the boyfriend had steak, which he could not stop raving about. Go here for a special occasion. Invent a special occasion if you have to. Trust me, it's worth it.

Only Michelin-starred restaurant in Queens, this is a fact. Only 10 minutes from my parent's house, another fact. Should have eaten here by now, fact.  Finally, an impromptu weeknight in Queens presented itself for us two adventurous eaters to venture into Danny Brown.

Was able to make an Opentable reservation at 7 pm for 7:30 pm, which was a pleasant surprise and indicated that we wouldn't be elbow to elbow at the restaurant either, which is a rarity almost anywhere in NYC nowadays. I chalked it up to it being the day before Thanksgiving.

They had a terrific prix fixe dinner menu - $28 for three, great courses. A delicious deal is one I cannot refuse. Being that "wine bar" is in the title, I diligently perused the menu and a flight of three 3-oz pours seemed like the best way to try a few wines while keeping my motor skills intact. Three sets of red flights to choose from, I couldn't decide and asked our server for help. As sweet as she was at identifying the wines I liked in each flight, this didn't help my choice much, and I ended up just going with the Fall Flight. She fumbled the names as she put them down, and in the end, I didn't really know exactly which wines I was drinking, but I liked 2/3, which are pretty good stats.

There's also a nice meat and cheese menu, which is hard to resist. Unfortunately, they don't allow mixing meats and cheeses for the tasting boards. We had bresaola, chicken liver, and housemade pate with whole grain mustard and cornichons. They were all lovely, the pate especially so.

From my prix fixe, I had the carrot soup, merluza, and buttermilk panna cotta. My dinner partner had the pork tenderloin and espresso brulee. I loved the soup, it wasn't too sweet, velvety, and had great flavor. The carraway creme was a nice complement, and argan oil is so healthy, I dig the use of that ingredient! I loved the merluza - it was cooked perfectly and the orzo it came with was so flavorful (I only wish there had been more of it!), with some bite from the pancetta, mmm!  And my friend loved his pork tenderloin - I found the sauce a bit too sweet, but that's ok since I wasn't the one eating most of it.

The desserts were a bit of a miss. My panna cotta suffered from a gelatin-induced firmness and lacked flavor. The underlying clementine sauce was nice, but couldn't save it. The espresso brulee was also a bit of a letdown.  Top was crunchy to be sure, but the custard did not have that glorious eggy/creaminess and was instead translucent, grainy, and sugary.  From these desserts, I'd guess that there's no pastry chef in house.

Overall, I had a nice time and it's great to have Danny Brown in the neighborhood.  But judged against its fellow one-star counterparts, I have a few minor gripes. For one dessert was mediocre. Secondly, given that it is a wine bar, I would expect a bit more knowledge and emphasis on the wines from the staff. Besides having the flights on the menu, it was just an ordinary experience in terms of its wine presentation.

I was happy to get an early reservation on a Tuesday night, we arrived to a fairly empty place and were seated right away.  The staff was friendly and attentive.  The ambiance is cozy and relaxed.

The wine list, while not huge, offers a nice variety and the staff is ready to decant your bottle upon request.

    Small Plates:
Croquettes with roasted red pepper served with a saffron aioli, crispy and so creamy.  Just delicious.

Sweet Potato Gnudi with spinach and bacon were heavenly and just melted in your mouth.  The dish offered a perfect balance of sweet and savory; it was divine.

Homemade Grilled Chorizo with Parsnip Puree and Broccoli Rabe, was excellent.  The chorizo was smokey  that was offset by the puree and the broccoli rabe; it all worked wonderfully together.

    Bigger Plates:
Hanger Steak served with french fries and shallot jam was awesome.  The steak was so tender and extremely flavorful, the jam offered a nice level of sweetness and the fries were thin and crispy and addictive.

Trophie Pasta with Smoked Tomatoes, Braised Escarole & Ricotta Cheese was good, but my least favorite dish of the night.  A fairly light well cooked dish, but the ricotta added a nice creaminess.

Confit of  Duck with Crispy Potatoes, Brussels Sprouts  was melting off the bone, not at all gamy.  The crunch of the Brussels sprouts and potatoes added a nice level of texture and worked well with the richness of the duck.

By the time our bigger plates were served the place was packed.  It so happened that the day we dined was the same day that it was announced that DB kept their Michelin Star and it was clear to see why they did.

I suppose that I should preface this review by saying that I fully intend on returning to Danny Brown Wine Bar & Kitchen for a full meal, especially because it is Queens' only Michelin-rated restaurant.

On a Friday night, when I don't feel like trekking into the city for a libation, Danny Brown will now become my go-to wine bar.  The prices are actually really reasonable, with many of their wines by the glass under the $10 price point.  I ordered a cheese plate with a selection of three cheeses ($18), which came with bread and a fig compote.  I also ordered two sides, mixed olives ($1) and almonds ($1).  This was the perfect small meal to share with another person.

The service was simply spectacular.  Our bartender was wonderful, calm, and friendly.  He spoke to us about which cheeses we liked best and why.  When he noticed that we were running low on bread, he immediately brought us a new basket, with no extra charge and without having to ask.  This seems like a minor detail, but these small things are what separate mediocre restaurants/bars from the rest.

DBWB is small and cozy, with just enough tables and bar seating to make this space feel intimate and not crowded.  With dim lighting and low music, DBWB is the perfect date spot regardless of whether it's a first date or your 30th anniversary.

The only Michelin star rated place in queens?  Let's do it

    Quick fix:

The Prix Fixe menu was pretty weak, so I ordered a la carte.  The prices were decent.  The small plates were tasty, but didn't sound too enticing.  Luckily we ordered the grilled calamari which ended up being a homerun dish.

The entrees were good, but I felt were not too impressive.  The only one that I can go home hollering about was the duck confit.  The rest were just "ok".

The desserts were good, but I'm spoiled in the dessert arena.  After going to Chikalicious dessert bar for once a week for 2 months... Desserts have to be really special to impress me nowadays.. Good try though

I'd go back though, the prices were pretty good, and the food felt like it was worth the money.

    In-depth review
    Small Plates:

Organic Salad: It's organic salad, yay

Grilled Calamari: Amazing dish melding the flavors of the white beans with delicately grilled calamari.  I felt like there was a light cheese in there too, but just slightly.  The arugula completed it with the varying textures.  My pops loved the dish, he cleaned his plate every chance.

    Bigger Plates:

Sautéed Pollack: They recommend medium rare, but we had it well done.  The fish was still very light and flaky, I could imagine it just as good when medium rare, but well done was spot on.

Confit of Hudson Valley Moulard Duck: This was amazing, meat fall off bone amazing, with pockets of sweet duck fat from time to time.  It came with these amazing golden beets too.

Roasted Berkshire Pork Tenderloin: Not my favorite, but my pops seemed to like it.

    Desserts:

Buttermilk  Vanilla Panna Cotta: This was a really tasty dish

Mascarapone Walnut Crust Cheesecake: This was tasty as well, the walnut crust was amazing.

    Dessert wine flight:
Amontillado Del Duque 30 Años, Gonzales Byass, Jerez, Spain
    Madeira Mamsley, Blandy's, Colheita 1994
Noval Black Port, Quinta Do Noval, Portugal, NV

    1) I liked the port the most 2) Madeira had a musky oak taste with a sweet caramel finish 3) The Amontillado : Dry, toasted hazlenuts

For wine: I had the Falanghina as recommended from fellow yelper.

It's no surprise that I am awarding this restaurant with my most prestigious award: "The Adam Five Star," since they actually did get a Michelin Star. I guess that all I am doing is validating this restaurant's already well deserved accolades and cementing their reputation for excellence.

I don't even believe you can enter without a reservation so make sure to call before coming. The restaurant is clean and classy albeit small. It is a very intimate atmosphere which is perfect if you want to impress a date or have a nice anniversary (which me and my girlfriend were celebrating that night).

The food was absolutely superb and top notch. My date and I had ordered the Grilled Calamari for the appetizer and we were very impressed at how well it was cooked; the meat was done right as it was tender and succulent rather than rubbery. I had ordered the Organic Chicken Under a Brick and I loved it! My girlfriend got the Duck Confit and she said it was phenomenal and the flavor was to die for.

It was well worth the trip and easily one of the best dining experiences of my life.
