Dante's Down the Hatch

At my first time visiting ATL we choose the hotel in Buckhead.  Early on the day we saw the restaurant sign "Dante's Down the Hatch Jazz and Blues "Closing on July 30".  So on our way back to our hotel from dinner we decided to stop by for night cap. I like jazz so we thought that will be perfect!  When we went inside it was little late and we were told they are closing  in 30 minutes.  Didn't care we stayed.  WOW!!!!!  This place have so many characters.  All those pictures of artists from back in the days....Pointer Sisters, Phyllis Hyman Whaaaat??? This place made me feel like I was in one of those pirates house in the amusement park.  I don't even want to write a detail of the place, cause you just have to visit and see it with your own eyes.  I saw history and I saw passion of the owner. And the jazz band....great!  The funny thing about this place is that it is very odd and casual, but at the same time it is sensual and romantic.  I heard that after 40 yrs in business owner decided to close down.  He does not want to sell the place.  If this place is on market and if I could afford to purchase this wonderful place, I would not change a thing.  IF YOU LIVE IN ATL OR VISIT ATL, PLEASE PLEASE GO VISIT DANTE'S.  This place is amazing!!!!!

Sort of like dining in the pirates of the caribbean ride. It is the most unique rooms in Atlanta and sadly will be missed. Had to stop in for one last drink.

I just made a reservation for next week having never been there before, but always wanting to.  I came to yelp and saw the less than stellar reviews regarding the person taking the reservations over the phone.  I just have to add, the lady I spoke with, Jenna, was awesome!  She was super friendly and helpful.  I could hear the phones ringing off the hook and she was very polite.  Can't wait to go there and enjoy the experience and maybe meet her in person!
