With the growth of the Atlanta film & television market; thus the growth in diversity of educational options for Actors, Improvisors & Stand-Up Comedians. Improv School of Atlanta is one of these exciting new options. Running the school are two superb Instructors; who I've personally had the pleasure of working with.
I trained under Ian Covell with my Automatic Improv troupe from 2010-2011. I accredit Ian for the core approach I have to pretty much every Improv scene I'm in, every single time I'm on stage. To live truthfully under the given circumstances of the scene; very Meisner. Which makes sense because Ian has a strong Meisner Acting background that he marries to his 18-years of Improv experience. The work you'll do in his class will help your Improv, your scripted work & your life.
Brad Binkley, I know from Relapse University. Before Relapse Theatre closed in December; I was was the Education Director and Brad taught both Intro & Advanced Stand-Up classes. His sessions regularly sold-out & Brad got RAVE reviews on every single survey for the 19 months I ran the University. He was well-known for spending one-on-one time with his students outside of class to help them develop their grad sets. Brad also excelled in promoting his graduation shows & his students always enjoyed large energetic audiences.
In conclusion --- I (of course) want you to take classes from me & my troupe but after (or while) you're an Automatic Improv student; totally take a class at Improv School of Atlanta. You'll be in good hands! Five-star approval!
