Fun place. Â I love the idea of the old arcade games in a bar like this. Â The fact that they were 25 cents per play was cool too. Â I can see this being a place we would come back to fairly often.
The service was good and they had a decent drink selection.
Two complaints:
1) The entire place is extremely loud with blaring music. Â (At least on Friday night) Â This is completely acceptable for a bar. Â However, it made the entire back room with couches and board games pretty much unusable for that purpose. Â Not to mention the music was the same bumping club music that I could hear at any other bar that didn't have this theme.
2) The food prices were a little nitpicky. Â We were charged 50 cents extra for each condiment I wanted on my burger which was already $9. Â (I'm not talking about grilled onions or sauteed mushrooms. Â I'm referring to ketchup and mustard)
I think we will give it another shot. Â I can imagine this place might be a lot more fun for happy hour or maybe a weekend afternoon.
I respect the barcade movement, but when they're done half-assed I get annoyed. And yes, I'm annoyed with Joystick.
First off, there are only a handful of games in here...maybe 12 arcade games and a pinball machine at the end of the bar. Dave and Busters, hell even the arcade at the mall have more games and a better selection. But they're not "trendy" so I guess I shouldn't mention them to any patrons here. Also the games are crowded together so it makes for a pile of people to swarm thru if there are more than 50 people in the place.
Next are their drinks...the cocktail list has 5 or 6 drinks, a few sound decent so I order one. It took about 10 minutes to receive it, I never did understand the holdup with the bartender. I took two sips and couldn't stand it so I pushed it back to her saying it wasn't something I could drink and I'd like to try a different one. This one only took a few minutes to get and was ok(a rye whiskey chai drink), so I asked for my total...well she charges me for both drinks which I thought was total bullshit and I told her that. That made for a fun back and forth.
Lastly is the area where it is sucks. All the roads are under construction at the moment, and parking on the side of the street is a gamble at night. The night I went it was raining balls and this area floods so if its raining leave the sandals at home.
So yea, I won't be back. I've been to several barcades around the country, this is the crappiest one of the pack. The lack of games is disappointing. The hipster crowd forgot to wear their deo(maybe that's not in, I'm not sure) so it stinks in here. And the lame drinks and greedy bartenders won't leave a good taste in your mouth.
