OK. So. I finally made it here. First timer. It was for an engagement party, which was awesome because it started at 8PM on a Saturday and at 8PM on a Saturday, Johnny's Hideaway is a pretty laid back, loungey, chill kinda place. By 8:30/9, there were some folks dancing and by 9:30/10, the dance floor was full, the tables were mostly all taken and there was a ton of room to move around. By, 11/11:30, everything was a crowded disaster. I danced at various times throughout the evening. When the dance floor was merely full, it was a little tough to move around a lot but was mostly fine. At 11:30, I was getting pushed, elbowed, bumped and groped. Not to mention the groping that occurred when I had to make my way through the crowd to the bathroom. To my delight, the bathroom was not full at all and I got into a stall immediately. I guess that's the benefit of it being nearly impossible to get to the bathroom - no one else can make it there, either.
I prefer the earlier, older crowd to the youngsters that pack the place late at night. I'd be fine to get in there, order my early bird special, dance it out and then head home to watch Matlock. I'd probably like it here on a weeknight. The food was surprisingly good! We got there early and I was starving so I ordered a BLT on whole wheat with a side of broccoli (I skipped the excellent-sounding special app which was a chicken and black bean quesadilla). My BLT was awesome and only $6.50. My fried got sliders and he said they were good, too. I would for sure go here for an early dinner. I might bring my parents.
