We were looking for a place to eat before a concert at the Greek theater utilizing the Yelp App to discover what is nearby and any other specials going on, we stumbled upon the Dessert Rose. Easy parking and yelp check in offer for 15% your meal (WHICH WAS NOT HONORED).
When we walked in they informed us that they were serving Happy Hour. So we went with it an ordered of the happy hour menu:
FOOD:
I ordered the Lamb Sliders which was flavorful and served in a sweet bun. I was still hungry so I ordered the Beef kabob and shared an order of olives; I've had better kabobs at a fast food chain and better olives out of a bottle.

AMBIANCE:
Most of the restaurant is outdoors and offers shade which is wonderful for the summer. Apparently this this restaurant is exempt from the Los Angeles Ordinance that prohibits smoking in outdoor dining areas.

I am no expert but I am sure LAFD can decipher that for this establishment. Â

SERVICE:
Well other than the restaurant not complying with the law. They do not adhere to their own marketing either. The yelp offer does state 15% off your meal and before I ordered, I showed my check in status to our waitress who said they would honor it. Later on, and as the bill was presented we were told that the restaurant management will not honor their own advertisement during happy hour. Our waitress was extremely apologetic and told us this is what her manager told her. Well  thanks for telling us when the bill was presented but to be even MORE OFFENSIVE it was spelled out not once but four (4) times on our bill, "** Not Discountable**". Gee, if you were that clear on your yelp advertisement, you would not have to take it that far. Then as if we could not read, the restaurant had to add an additional line of 15% discount (0.00) on our receipt. Well the waitress seemed sincere so I can't hold it against her- I think this just like the smoking violation is beyond her control or expertise. Â

A-OK. It was just an okay experience.
We went for late Sunday lunch. Restaurant was not that busy so we were accommodated promptly. Â Almost all the restaurant is outside. There are tables inside but with the doors wide open it all seems like one big veranda. It's shady but might get really hot on a sunny day. I liked the ambiance and liked the fact that they allow dogs. I'll bring my pooch once he grows up if I am back to this restaurant.
They had happy hour going on and there were several items available for cheaper prices. And There is also a discount on wells and wines during HH.
We didn't have much time so we skipped the appetizers and ordered mains. I had halibut and scallops with mashed potato instead of spinach and green beans. The fish was good, the scallops tasted weird. I can't  really describe the taste but it was really strange. I ate it anyways since I was starving. My husband had beef kabob plate ordered well done with rice. Even though he liked his meal, it was too small for him, so he left hungry. The wait was way longer then it's supposed to be. For the drinks we had juices and I've also got HH house chardonnay which was bad. The service was okay.
For desserts hubby had chocolate something with hazelnut mouse and I had apple cheesecake with a cup of tea. He didn't like his dessert at all. Mine was good but too sweet.
Overall we both agreed on 3 stars.
I might be back if in the area but there are so many good options in Los Feliz Village, so I might just pass.
I like this place. In fact, I eat here a lot. They have LOTS of vegetarian choices and its always yummy.
The staff is hit and miss. Sometimes lovely, sometimes crabby.
The thing I find most annoying is actually obtaining the "discount" on Facebook night. You have to have everyone at your table "prove it" via smart phone etc. It's just a bit off-putting when you come out for an advertised event (that you wouldn't have known about if you weren't their Facebook fan) and then have to jump through hoops to get the advertised discount for attending.
