I love this little place! Â Tey have a bunch of taps that are always rotating, nd there are always a couple IPAs. This is also one of the few places that has beer battered fish & chips and they do it right! Â The service is always the perfect blend of unintrusive but never leaving you hanging with empty dishes or glasses.
Review Source:Some of the best fish and chips in town. They are just simply amazing. They are the breaded kind, which are always my favorite.
Also has an amazing beer selection. Â Especially if you are a fan of IPAs. Â They always seem to have some new IPA that I have never heard of and they are always delicious. Â
I highly recommended this place. Â Great food, awesome beer selection.
The only down side is the parking situation, you need to be somewhat clever at times to find a spot in the lot.
Went to breakfast this past Sunday with the roommate. I didn't even realize they were open for breakfast, but was pleasantly surprised.
The food was really good. I had the veggie omelet and the vegetables were fresh and perfectly cooked, the hash browns were crispy but the very best part of all? The place wasn't covered in children. I totally get that kids need to eat too, but when you're hungover, a table full of boisterous children next to you is not the best thing in the world.
The staff is very attentive and friendly and it's just a really chill place for a Sunday breakfast.
A(nother) great reason to visit Seattle.
The Dog & Pony Alehouse in the Renton neighborhood. Â
Work has me in the Pacific northwest about quarterly. Â And thus, quarterly, I will be a regular at the Dog & Pony. Â
There is so much to love about this place. Â Starting with, of course, the great selection of craft beers.
The taps rotate regularly, and the emphasis is heavy on India Pale Ales and local crafts; both of which are preferable choices for me. Â
A combination of the two, a local IPA, the Hop Saw from North Sound Brewing Company, quickly became a personal favorite. Â
While the brews are great, the exceptional atmosphere is what makes the Dog & Pony at once unique and excellent. Â
An example of the warm embrace of the pub's regular clientele is most telling: Â
Parking is tight. Â Pulling in, unable to locate a space, a fellow Dog & Pony visitor invited me to double park behind her own car. Â Simple enough -- She would just find me later in the evening and tell me to move my car when she was departing. Â Common sense; sensible kinship providing for an easy solution. Â
A little act. Â Doesn't seem like much. But symbolic of the sort of fellowship so immediately apparent at the Dog & Pony. Â
That same inviting attitude is prevalent throughout the Dog & Pony experience. Â It's constantly expressed by staff and visitors alike. Â
Servers in this quaint little spot remember your name, never leave a glass empty, are engaging, and constantly have a smile. Â And knowledgeable beer conversation abounds. Â
In only a handful of visits, I have received an education from fellow patrons in the forms of  brewers from industry, local beer advocates, successful home brewers, and many a person intimately familiar with Seattle's rich craft beer culture.
The Dog & Pony is the sort of place where you are expected to join discussion with the neighbor next to you. Â
This is the type of high quality experience worth paying for. Â
But, here's the thing - the Dog & Pony is economically reasonable. Â I have drank to my delight (and my delight is obtained via substantial volume), and departed with a bill less than twenty dollars. Â The best Belgian on tap, the tasty Trois Pistoles, is served for the certainly reasonable asking price of six bucks. Â
Because of its selection, the Dog & Pony Alehouse is the sort of establishment all beer advocates wish to have locally. Â
Because of its outstanding staff and welcoming community of customers, it's the sort of establishment all social people wish to have locally!
It is certainly worth a visit. Â I provide my highest recommendation should life guide you to Seattle.
And have a wonderful time. Â There is no doubt you will!
Cheers.
I provided the same review on my blog at <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thecraftbeerguru.com%2F2012%2F09%2Fthe-dog-pony-alehouse.html&s=cb50259668c5b63314bfd210b54c6073f6255b22a88bcc3102288075bf396533" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.thecraftbeerg…</a>
Small neighborhood ale house with a great beer selection on draft. It was a Sunday night and was quite empty but got crowded as the sports trivia started. The bartenders and servers were very nice and friendly and made me want to come back for sure. They gave us a few suggestions and chatted up a bit. The food was also great. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich which had a thin piece of chicken panko breaded like tonkatsu and smothered in hot sauce with blue cheese dressing. It was da bomb. Oh they also have free pool on Sundays. I think I'll probably hit it up again for Sunday  football games too.
Review Source:If you're looking for a sunny place to eat lunch and have a beer outside on the patio in Renton, this is it. Â The beer selection is simply the best around (they had Pliny the Elder at one time). Â Check the board before you go outside though. Â The food and service I would rate average, not great, but the beer more than makes up for it. Â If you stick with the basic food on the menu - burgers, sandwiches, etc - you won't be disappointed. Â Don't expect fine dining or really fast lunch though, this is not that place.
Update: The beer just keeps getting better and service has improved too. Â Also, the patio is dog friendly and is a great place to hang out on sunny days. Â Half price apps for HH. Â This place has a great vibe, it's a community type pub, people are friendly and love beer.
My man and I were in need of some beer and some grub. I pulled out my handy- dandy cell phone and went to my yelp app. After typing in Ale houses, Dog & Pony was the first on the list. It also happened to be the closest to our current location.
We parked the car and wondered inside. The decor is very " Good-Ol'-Boys". Old tap handles, beer brand skate and long boards, light-up PBR sign.... you know, the good stuff. Seating was a bit strange. The booth we sat at had a very low table and the booth seats were on wheels.
We received out menus and began to look for the beer list. ..... no printed list. BUT, there was a chalk wall next to the bar. BING! There it was. a HUGE beer list. 32 different types to be exact. I got the Red Rocket and boy got a Gospel IPA. Both were mondoe tasty. Next was the food. The fish and chips are a must. Perfectly battered and cook to a golden brown accompanied by a pile of fries. The Ruben sandwich that sat in front of my guy looked yummy as well.
I'm a fan.
Great local pub grub and huge selection of NW microbrews! Â This little house is a great little place to hang out in the winter on the big couch and overstuffed chairs by the fireplace or on a hot summer afternoon out on their patio! Â Great bar food with generous portions. Â Some o the best fish and chips I have had and their clubhouse sandwich can't be beat. Â For dog lovers, they will let you bring your well behaved pooch onto the patio while hanging out there. Â I always love the waitresses, sassy with a friendly attitude! Â Some people may not like that but having been in this biz, I love it! Â It is laid back and service isn't always the fastest but I have never had a big issue and when they are busy, I am patient because as I have said, been there, done that! Â
The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because I wish they had hard liquor because I am not a huge beer drinker. Â If this place was within walking distance of my house, we would be in trouble though and would be there all the time! Â Parking can be a bit of an issue when they are busy as they are located in a residential area.
Eclectic furnishings sit around dark booths and a pool table. Â TV screens blare a bit and make conversations a bit difficult at times.
Plenty of beer, some local, some not. Â Tavern food. Â I had a burger, accompanied by a ton of fries. Â Ok and not pretentious, but not outstanding. Â
Staff was friendly, but not the most attentive. Â I will give her credit for having to cover a lot of turf by herself though.
Ok, after a few different visits (just confirming this was NOT an anomaly) I really have to downgrade this place because the service is terrible. Â Like, sitting down and not being acknowledged for ten minutes terrible. Â And getting food dropped off and never seeing our server again until we physically have to flag her down to get the check. Â The hubs and I usually have a few drinks at places like this, and once it was so bad that we both only had one beer, not because we wanted to, but because our waitress never came back to take our order!! Â Also, they messed up my order (sub sweet potato fries for normal ones, it's an upgrade listed on the menu).
I spent many years as a waitress in high school and college, so I'm not being picky about this. Â I'm pretty sure D&P just mostly needs to hire more waitstaff, but then again the past few visits I wouldn't describe any of the waitress as proficient at their jobs.
We get it, you have lots of beer on tap and have witticisms sprinkled throughout your menu and are the cool local watering hole, but people only put up with bad service a few times before giving up for good. Â We are some of those people. Â We'll be visiting one of the many other beer joints in the area - the Red House in Renton or Airways Brewing in Kent come to mind!
"Eh."
I'm not a big fan of beers or ales in general, so we stopped by here for food. Â I did notice they have a few wine selections, so at least there's that. Â If you're into having a wide selection of beer, this is probably your place.
Overall, I was pretty unimpressed. Â Judging by the name, food isn't really the focus of this place. Â Service was a bit spotty and very, very slow, and the food ... well it probably needed to be accompanied with about a half-dozen beers in order for someone to think it was awesome :)
Ok, I'm sorry to say I have to take a star away for todays visit. Â :( Â The food & service were still pretty good but had a couple of problems today that made me reevaluate my previous ratings.
A-The booths have tables that are so low you can't cross you legs under them. Â Getting in them you either bonk your knees/ thighs on the table or your butt on the weird bump at the end of the bench. Â The general table layout of the restaurant is not very comfortable.
B- One friend ordered a salad and a side order of fries. Â Salad arrived without the fries. Â Server Shawn never came back to check on us so my friend had to go to the bar to remind her about her order. Â Most restaurants would then provide the forgotten item gratis but they didn't today.
C-I understand your beers change almost daily but would it be too hard to have a printed list of the beers & their prices at each table or for the server to provide. Â I don't want to have to look across the restaurant at the chalkboard. Â A wine list would also be nice since you have wine why not advertise it?
Pork Carnitas sandwich & sweet potatoes as awesome as ever. Â Cobb Salad could have used more avocado & blue cheese crumbles and NO shredded parmesan cheese on top. Â
I feel sorry for the server having to work so hard all alone at the bar & in the restaurant.
Dog & Pony is a new favorite of mine! AMAZING beer selection. Tons of taps!
I recently visited Dog & Pony on a first date (read more here: <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sarendipity.com%2Fblog&s=9fe56ed5f68ce547a25e3894d6ef1606df4b42af4e01165fedecef53c765e83d" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.sarendipity.c…</a> ) and I have to say I was quite impressed! The rotating tap selection is outstanding! The ambiance was chill, definitely more of a neighborhood bar, but I didn't feel unwelcome.
As far as a location for a date I give it 5 stars! The waitstaff was attentive but not overly so. I didn't try any of the food so I can't speak to the lackluster reviews as far as food goes, but c'mon it's a bar with TONS of beer. In my opinion, for this location, food isn't what's going to keep me coming back. The bar seating was limited and full when I went, but there were plenty of tables. There was even a little couch/chair area by a fireplace. I noticed board games in this area and  thought this place would make a even better 3rd, 4th or happy couple date spot. Especially on a cold, rainy winter day. I could be very happy sitting by that fire, playing card games and drinking some tasty brews.
*by and by ladies - don't let the "towny bar" worry you - the women's bathroom was AMAZING! Quite shocking actually. Not because the rest of the bar is crappy, but the women's bathroom was extremely well designed with modern fixtures, automatic soap dispenser and CLEAN!
Beer: AMAZING!
1st Date location: great
Will go back?: definitely
Food: didn't try this time
I'm not particularly impressed.
First off, I was a little annoyed because although it's kind of cool when a server can take an order without writing anything down (even though no one really cares at a small bar if you write everything down), when you have to ask one or more customers to repeat what they want each trip it really defeats the purpose. The servers also dart around a lot - they don't wait to see if everyone has ordered (probably because they can't remember more than a few orders!). It was distracting and rude.
The happy hour appetizer menu is very small and everything is fried. They also put one weird sauce with each dish as if they belong together...e.g. Fried mushrooms::white cocktail-like sauce, Fried mac & cheese::honey-mustard, Jalapeno poppers::sweet chili sauce, Fried green beans::veggie-like ranch sauce, and mozz sticks::marinara. I feel like they're trying to be gourmet and it's failing horribly. I asked for ranch with my mushrooms - which was much better.
It bothers me that they don't sell Redhook here. It's cool that they support small breweries, but the way they categorize Redhook with Bud and other large breweries, just turns me off. Redhook has delicious beer, started locally, and now because they've gotten successful you shun them? Way to turn your back on 'em.
Parking is almost non-existent, the set-up is terrible. So if you go on a nice day it's not likely you'll find a spot in the lot.
If all you're looking for is a cold microbrew then this place is perfect. If you want good food and good service, I'd recommend you go elsewhere.
Horrible!!!!!
I went here for the first time a couple months ago with some good friends. All of them had been here before and always said the food was good. Well I wouldn't know because I have never had it. I wanted to, but after waiting around for over 15 min and not having the drink order even taken we gave up and went elsewhere. The waitress came up to us repeatedly during the time we were there and never once asked us if we wanted anything, and when we told her that we were ready she told us ok I'll be back in a minute. Well, you have been here several times already and can't seem to multiple-task and take just our drink order.
Also the parking is a bit tight, not a very big lot.
If you don't like beer/wine do not waste your time at this place, because that is all they serve.
So go here if you like bad parking, crappy service/no service, and some food.
It's probably for the best that this place is in Renton. Â If it were any closer to my normal haunts, I'd come here way too often for my own good.
The beer list is totally beyond awesome. Â It fills a giant chalkboard by the wall. Â There are more than 30 rotating taps, and they give you fair warning not to fall in love with one, since you'll only get your heart broken.
The food is really, really good. Â Normal pub fair, fried foods, burgers, sandwiches, salads, etc. Â But it's hot and fresh and filling and just all around quality food. Â I have a hard time choosing what I should eat when I'm there, so I'll be going back hopefully soon to try more items. Â The menu is funny ... there are Tina Fey and Jack Handey quotes - the entertainment of the menu may have made the food even better, but I could be imagining that.
From the outside, it looks like a total crap dive. Â But when you go in there are comfy couches and standard pub booths and tables. Â The servers are also friendly and efficient, and seem to have a nice group of regulars there.
Dog & Pony Ale house is a great find in Renton!
Their beer selection is really good and they change beers quite often so you can always try something new.
The food here is very tasty and far better than your average bar food. I'd recommend the Kobe Burger. My husbands loves the fried chicken sandwich.
The service is always speedy and the bartenders/servers are friendly.
If you're into watching sports at bars, this place is really cozy and personal. They have a couch set up in front of the big TV. They also offer a small library for those quiet mornings.
The prices are decent. I love coming to this place the morning after a night of drinking for a greasy meal and "hair of the dog" next morning drink!
LOVE the Dog and Pony!!
List format:
- Great selection of beer from all over the country, not just the standard PNW micros
- Fast and friendly service from all who work there, tables or at the bar
- Excellent food as well; from fish and chips, to a killer BLT salad, reasonable prices and fresh
- Easy to get to location near the Landing, Boeing, and the 405
- Parking can be tight in their lot so look to the neighborhood behind them for on street parking
I've only been here a couple of times but each time have missed the problematic servers that many have noted *used to* work here.
Stopped in last night for a burger and a beer on my way to a show. Their IPA selection was completely over the top--20 different offerings, virtually all from the west coast, most from the northwest. Lots of other great options, including a couple of light craft lagers and ciders for those new to the craft beer world. Even the light lagers are from small local breweries though. No fizzy yellow macro-industrial brew here...though I do believe I saw a Rainier faucet pouring.
The staff was pretty slammed, but always working, always charming, always welcoming. They were in continuous motion for the two hours I was here. Somebody said something about "last night for the groupon," so I think they saw a bunch of new faces for one night only. There was a line most of the time I was here, and every seat taken the entire time. Still, they managed to get orders in and out reasonably quickly, and, best of all, they were nice to everyone the entire time. One girl almost cut her hand when some glasses slipped, and it coulda been pretty scary, but she hardly lost a step.
The kitchen here does a solid job at the pub grub. The prime rib seems popular, but I stuck with the kobe burger and sweet potato fries. Pretty well made, and arrived quickly, exactly to order. Prices were fair.
Bottom line, though, this place really is all about the handle lineup, and they knock that out of the park. Every beer is a good one, even if they aren't pouring the rarest of the rare--virtually anyone can find something new and interesting to try here, and *everyone* can find a beer they like to drink, even if it takes a couple samplings to get there. Highly recommended for beer lovers. Solid choice for the friend of the beer lover.
I've been here twice now so I figure it's time for a review. Â This is a great neighborhood pub and a perfect spot for a quick lunch. Â
The BLT I got here was delicious, and on my 2nd trip I got the catfish sandwich. I've never had catfish breaded with panko. I love catfish and I love panko, but for some reason it didn't really work for me. Â The sweet potato fries were deliciously crispy. Â My boyfriend got the kobe burger which he said lacked flavor, but he ate the whole thing ;)
They have a cute patio "beer garden" which is nice, a large flat screen tv, as well as a couple other small ones. Â The waitress I've had on both occasions was awesome! She is very nice and attentive.
I would like to come back here and actually give the bar a try...maybe for a Seahawks game. Â It's small inside, could get crowded quick.
Here's what I like:
Without a doubt, the best beer selection in Renton. If you like IPA, they always have several from which you can choose. But that aint all. They also have a wide variety of styles, with something like 30 tap handles. Beyond just being a lot of beer, it is a thoughtful selection.
In the summer months, the outdoor seating is awesome.
The entire place is going through a much-needed renovation.
The beer selection is awesome.
The regulars who hang out there are all really nice. No, I'm not a regular, but they always make me feel like it when I'm there.
The beer selection is awesome.
The Buffalo Chicken Salad.
The beer selection is awesome.
This is a great place if you are looking for great beer. Â
I was thrilled that they had Duchuttes "The Abyss" which is #3 in the world on <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.beeradvocate.com&s=c9ec9d38c5eb84b3573504ef5a7f17c0bff202e002fc01ce711f36a6b2bec469" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.beeradvocate.…</a>, and #21 on <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ratebeer.com&s=ce5587c2efde374817517c69f673d2bdc30d3f7edcc2d0528dd77dacf00ee7fb" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.ratebeer.com</a>, which are the two most respected beer sites I know of.  It was only $6 for a pint, whereas some places will charge a huge premium for high alcohol content beers (this one is 11%) because they know you'll probably order only one. Â
They list on their website the beers they have on tap and it is updated regularly. Â They had just run out of "Pliny the Elder" which is another great beer that most pubs never put on tap...(most pubs get bogged down by their regular distributers' offerings which tend to be monochromatic and boring)
Service was excellent, they put the game on that we wanted to see. Â My philly sandwich was very average, but my cousin loved his quesadillas. Â Regular pub-food in that sense: hit-or-miss on "very good" and solid on average pub food. Â I will definately go back next time my parents come to Renton because they both like exploring new beers.
After a couple times going here for lunch I would have to say:
2 for the food
2-3 for the service
4 for the general vibe
The last time I went I got the french dip (I think it was the special), and while I don't expect a light sandwich when I order a pile of roast beef, this one was overly greasy. And greasy can be good, but this wasnt good greasy.
The fries were also really heavily salted. The result, going back to work feeling kinda crappy. The service that day was also on the slow side, but I think they just had one person around, so not a biggy.
They do seem to have a good selection, maybe If I make it here for the more bar-ish nature of the place I will have a better experience.
Amazing beer selection and the buffalow/bluecheeze sticks are to freakin' die for. Â Polite and knowledgeable staff. Â The parking lot is kinda small so you have to pay attention when you park. Â It's often humorous to watch the people in the smallest cars struggle with the average-to-large parking spaces. Â I guess you can have that fun anywhere. Â Seriously people, the lines are not simply suggestions, L2PARK!! Â Anyways, great place to enjoy lots of wonderful beers and fantastic foods.
I live in the Highlands and this place is very near my home. Â I'm very happy to frequent this establishment.
I'm only giving it 4 stars but only because I haven't tried the food. Â This place is unique and you must try, especially if you have a well behaved dog that wants to hang, too. Â Dogs come in by the side gate and reportedly, the owner shows movies on Saturday nights on the painted on movie screen against the wall of the establishment.
Good beer, I mean, they have Chimay on tap, hello?!
Great ambiance and with the Whistle Stop Ale House and the Red House... This one completes my Renton trifecta.
I was immediately taken with this place. Any bar that goes as far to put in their menu that they will never serve those bland, yellowish national beers wins favor with this big beer junkie. Initially I was lost viewing the long line of hard-to-come-by microbrews and Belgians scattered on the chalk beer and furthermore, a little intimidated that I was the youngest guy in the room and an out-of-towner. The locals were quick to make recommendations and conversation and I felt at home in no time.
As great as the beer selection was, I didn't expect to food to be as good too. But lightening strikes twice here. I had the buffalo chicken salad and it was tasty and ginourmous. Beyond that, they a great deal of appetizers, sandwiches, bangers & mash, Â and fish & chips. Plenty of options to saturate some of those 9% beers.
You can sit at the bar, around the pool table, in booths, in a little lounge-y / fireplace area or outdoors. Impressive amount of options there. One bartender was tending to a fairly packed bar, but she was attentive and actually apologetic that she didn't have time to talk more.
I was a bit hesitant when work elected to sent me to Renton rather Seattle-proper, but I have to admit that for one night, this made that a-ok. This would be quite a find in any major city. They'll even fill growlers and preview upcoming taps. The former brewmaster behind the place really made sure to cover all the bases here. Look forward to going back before I have to leave town and the bragging about the place to friends when I get back to Denver.
I love Dog & Pony. Â It's the spot to go to when you're after a good beer. Â They have a fantastic selection every time I go in there.
I'm usually there with Jennifer S. and we have had an increasing amount of bad service since Patricia left (she is, hands down, the best bartender.) Â Luckily, the snappy server that Jen mentioned in her review, hasn't been there the past couple times we've stopped in, and I'm relieved. Â She had been our server many times, and every time, she was rude and more interested in the male clientele.
The last time we were there, the new server was cheerful, attentive, and helpful (yay!) and, the food was pretty good. And she laughed at my dad's jokes, which is always a plus.
Just when we were about to give up, Dog & Pony seemed to waltz back into our good graces.
Yowza! Â There is a great beer bar in Renton. Â (Beer snob alert, I go here for what's on tap and don't care about the food or the atmosphere.)
First visit, Russian River Pliny and Damnation were on tap. Â Two OUTSTANDING new arrivals in the Washington market. Â Other great taps of NW micro and quality micro. Â I didn't see a single "ordinary" beer on tap. Â Second visit, they seem to be doing an IPA thing with lots of the better local IPA and Double IPAs and a few totally amazing non-local doubles. Â (Anytime you see Double Daddy from Speakeasy, get one.)
Atmosphere is a little sterile (light wood floors and wood/formica tables). Â There's a pool table and a jukebox and on one visit there was a jazz combo playing in the front room. Â Brew memorabilia and lots of political stickers on the walls.
If you live nearby, why aren't you here all the time? Â If you're not and you're shopping at Fry's, make time for a quick pint.
This is an updated review 8.18.09:
A pitcher of beer costing $16.95 that's only $4.23 a beer. Most of Dog n Pony's beers are $4.50-5.50, which is the going rate in the Seattle area theses days. In fact, I paid $6.00 for a Mirror Pond in Georgetown's newest pizza place, which I won't be doing again anytime soon. Â Dog n Pony has a great selection of beers 20-30 on tap at all times.
We've been going to the Dog n Pony since I moved to Renton 6.5 years ago and we love it. Huge beer selection and good food.
I'm totally sold. Â I love great beers, outdoor patios, and burgers.
The Dog and Pony has what 30 beers on tap ?( I could be exagerating) That they change out every couple of months. Â And not just any micro brew like red hook or bridgeport, which I do love both btw, beers like rogue black brutal. Â Sweet! Â I personally am fan of Duval, a lighter Belgium style ale. Â Deffinately not a typical beer, let a lone at a Renton Pub.
On my search for great Renton hang, Â this one is on the top. Â Went twice last week.
A long time spot for Boeing employee's to get their beer on, this was the first place that I went with my dad when I turned 21. Before that, I would send him in for their Reuben Sandwich, which at the time was the best on the south side. I don't eat meat anymore, but still want this sandwich. Their taco salad is also very good. I wish they would bring back the jalapeno fries (maybe they did already). They have a nice mix of pub grub with lighter fare for those of us who like to drink our calories.
It's a great place for beer snobs. The beer is listed on a chalk board by the bar. Be adventurous and ask for a taste.
I haven't experienced any bad service and in fact always felt the friendly bar vibe. I always appreciated that this place was non-smoking way before the law was passed in King County.
If my landlord ever sells our house, we're moving closer to the Dog & Pony.
Don't be fooled by its unassuming exterior. Â You might even miss it if you've never been here before. Â This is a very fun, cozy place inside with a fun menu and personable staff.
The regulars here aren't used to seeing new faces, so don't be put off by a lot of heads turning when you come in. Â Everybody is really very warm. Â A lot of beer geeks hang here, so if you're into hops, etc., strike up a conversation at the bar or just sit there and admire their terrific tap selection.
Don't ask what's on tap, dork (unless you can't read). Â You'll be shot. Â It's all right there on the chalkboard menu to the left of the bar.
If you're hungry, call ahead to make sure the kitchen is still open. Â When it's slow, they will close early, but if they know you're on your way, they might wait for you. Â
They are not open very late.
Well, judging from the other reviews, I'm glad I didn't have to deal with a bad server on my first visit to this nice ale house. Â The lady behind the bar was pretty helpful.
I had driven by this place a number of times and the name always caught my eye. Â It looks kinda divey but the neon signs in the window from quality breweries peaked my interest. Â So, we gave it a shot and checked it out Saturday afternoon/eve. Â I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and brightly lit the place was, not a dive after all. Â There's a nice "living room area" with couches & a flatscreen, lots of table seating, a nice small bar and even an outdoor beer garden area.
The beer selection far exceeded my expectations. Â The chalkboard of revolving beer selections was mighty impressive. Â They've got at least 25 taps! Â Choices from Maritime, Diamond Knot, Left Hand, Walking Man, Harmon, Lagunitas, Georgetown, Baron, Avery, etc. Â They have belgians as well as american ales and they even had a sour beer. Â I had a hard time deciding on beers, there were too many good choices! There's a wall of fame where brewmasters and brewery owners can sign their name and leave a message, very cool. Â They've got brewer's night every other week or so. Â Nice.
Also, their choice of food was impressive as well.  Upbeat pub items but perhaps with a healthier approach?  I had the panko beer battered  fish and chips, very nice.  The ahi tuna salad and club sandwich looked tasty too....
I'll be back! Â I felt like I had discovered a (beer) diamond in the rough, I never expected to stumble across such a nice lil beer haven in Renton of all places... Â Well, I guess there's Whistle Stop Ale House too but the Dog & Pony's beer selection totally trumps....
