Stopped in during a trip to Bardstown. Tried some pulled pork....smoked pork doin and brisket. All was awesome....wish we had one close to home. The owners ate a sweet married couple and the do the cooking . Great southern BBQ . Not a fancy place .... was worth the wait...which was only about 20 minutes. Fresh made corn cakes were great too.
Review Source:I was in the area so based on the reviews I stopped in for lunch. Â The BBQ is excellent and you would not have known it for the outside. Â This restaurant is a small local place that focuses on great BBQ - not restaurant decor. Â The food is excellent and the service is as well. Â This is a fun place to stop for great BBQ - I recommend the pulled pork. Â This is great food at great price. You must try it!
Review Source:Never, never ever get fish from a BBQ place. My mistake, honestly, so I won't hold it against them, but it wasn't really good fish. Basic white fish, beer-battered, deep fried, and very heavy on the oil. Bleccch. But it was Friday during Lent and I was just hankering for fish and I thought, "why not?" Duh.
On the other hand, this is a pretty solid place for BBQ, the owner starts early on the smoker every morning (except Mondays), and makes some fairly passable BBQ, nothing spectacular but definitely better than the fish.
And the breakfast is good too. But like the first review, don't go for the atmosphere.
Really, the first review? Â Well, after hitting Maker's Mark the gang wanted some BBQ, so we pulled out the fancy phones and found this place. Â I actually give it 3.5 stars, and none of them are for atmosphere - you're really not getting any here. Â
This place is about the BBQ, and it's pretty solid. Â The ribs fall off the bone, the brisket is tender, the beans tasty, and the old-timer that must have made a million racks in his lifetime brought out some au jus from the smoker for the ribs that everyone seemed to love. Â Probably a local's place, the cute as a button teen-age waitress had to ask, "y'all aren't from around here, huh?" Â
There's fancier BBQ (I don't know how far away, though), but if you have a hankering for slow-cooked meat at reasonable prices, you could do much worse than stopping here. Â And they have a drive-thru.
