i have no food in the house besides one lonely grapefruit so pretty much anything should taste delicious right now...negative
ive never seen a gray corn dog before have u?
and its pretty hard to make a quality meal out of crappy ingredients (see canned mushrooms and uber fatty bacon as in one bite out of 2 strips contained meat) on an overcooked hard as a rock hamburger patty (that was supposed to be med-well) which was also missing onions
even my milk shake was sub par...how do u screw that up u ask? ...easy...use freezerburnt ice cream
o and everything was cold
meh i wish i could take tonites meal back
I attended an event here and had an incredible time. Â I have been coming to this bowling alley ever since I was in high school. Â I even had a few KingPin moments while bowling in some competitive tournaments. Â Once our team needed me to get only 8 pins to win the North Catholic League Title in the 10th frame...no pressure right! Â FYI we did win the title, but I had no idea I would be writing a review 25 years later for a restaurant in this same bowling alley. In fact, I had no idea this beautiful restaurant even existed. Â I never even walked through its front door. Â Yes it has its own entrance.
As I went to the event, I decided to not walk into the bowling alley but directly from the parking lot through DRB Pizzeria's front door. Â For a minute I thought I had gone through a time portal and someone sent me to some really cool bar/restaurant. Â When did they build this place? Â There were amazing booths all around and each one had its own mini tv to watch the game plus there were plenty of tables in the middle too. Â In fact, there was not a bad seat in the house because there were tv's hanging everywhere. Â I decided to grab a seat at the bar where there were two games on the Bulls vs Cavs and NY vs Heat. Â Good news Bulls won and the Heat lost...yeah!!!
At the bar I met Andrew the bartender/accountant and he was really cool with lots of personality. Â I had a hard time believing he was an accountant because he was so funny. Â He must pull accounting jokes in the office all the time like removing a few digits from a number and watching his fellow workers freak out.
Andrew set us up with a few drinks to start. Â There are plenty of beers on tap to choose from too and the prices were not that bad plus I could order a pint, pitcher or a 100oz tube of beer. Â I love options plus there were bottles available too. Â The bar was fully stocked with a variety of different spirits, so there was plenty to choose from. Â I did start my night out with a Tito's & Tonic and then moved over to pints of Half Acre.
While sitting at the bar, I started diving into the chips and salsa. Â I must say that the salsa was really good and it was not from a jar. Â I asked Andrew if it was homemade and he told me that the owner Mark makes it. Â What? The owner is making homemade salsa in a bowling alley restaurant? Â I started to put on my thinking cap and I started to think this place has some secrets going on. Â For example, I noticed on there menu that they have grass-fed beef burgers and yes this is a bowling alley. Â I am really starting to like this place.
As we were drinking the salsa at the bar...yes it was really that good. Â We got to meet Mark the owner and we started telling him how good the salsa was. Â He told us that it was his secret recipe and I offered to be his assistant for the day to help him chop stuff. Â I figured it would be a good way to steal the recipe for my own use but I think he was on to me.
Mark then brought me over some "Dragon Bites", which he is really proud of and he should be. Â It is a blended sausage wrapped in a fresh jalapeno and then wrapped in smoked bacon. Â One bite and I was in heaven from the flavor but my tongue was burning somewhere in hell. Â Again I have to stop for a second and think to myself. Â This is a bowling alley making fresh apps and not just throwing frozen food in a deep fryer. Â Okay this place is really starting to make me happy.
I also had some BBQ chicken wings and some Buffalo chicken wings. Â Both were meaty and tasted delicious. Â Now I know where I can get some yummy wings when I want them. Â As Mark was walking by I asked him, do you make your own BBQ sauce and he smiled at me and said, "yes!" Â The BBQ sauce was a nice sweet sauce that tasted so good and Yes I did lick my fingers.
Finally, Mark dropped off a plate of prime rib in front of me at the bar. Â Really? Â Fresh Prime Rib at a Bowling alley restaurant. Â Honestly I can not make this stuff up. Â The prime rib was so soft and tender I told Mark that he needs to start making prime rib sliders with dipping sauces. Â He looked at me and smiled and I think he might consider it. Â Hopefully he will name it after me or something.
Okay this place is the real thing. Â I would have never guessed that I would get fresh homemade food in a bowling alley. Â I really only came here to bowl in the past and drink beer but now I think I might come here one night and just go to dinner. Â I really need to try more things on the menu. Â I know I am coming back for that burger and more of those Dragon Bites. Â
I was really surprised at how good everything was and thought that this would be a fun place to throw a party in the future. Â I saw a catering package on the bar it was not bad at all for bowling, drinks and food.
On a side note: Â at around 8:30pm on a Friday, the bowling alley turned off the lights and turned up the music, light show and fog machine. Â The place was packed. Â This place just keeps getting cooler and cooler!
Super cool bar/restaurant tucked away in the corner of a parking lot hidden down by the river. Â Great place to catch the game with t.v.'s every 15 feet around the place. Â
The food will impress you. Â Yes, you heard me correct and yes this is attached to a bowling alley. Â The food is really good and really fresh and the price point will make you think, wait....what?? (extremely affordable) Â The salsa is fresh, not out of a jar or can, with diced tomatoes, jalapenos and mango! Â Yum! Â The burgers are grass fed!! Â DRB really puts effort and quality into the food. Â The staff are super cool and easy to talk to. Â Sit at the bar. Â It's fun to watch all the action.
Cool exposed brick walls in the interior make for a fun atmosphere. Â Ample booths and tables to accommodate large groups and FREE parking in the lot!
