We checked out EatBar on a spur of the moment date night in Arlington. Â When we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised to learn that they have movie night every Sunday. Â It was great to relax and enjoy a movie with our food and wine. Â The decor is awesome, kind of Victorian-meets-Moroccan feeling, and the candles flickering along the walls add a great atmosphere.
We ordered several small plates to share. Â The fried green tomato slider tasted great, but was kind of hard to eat because the tomatoes kept sliding out. Â The steak frites was excellent but SMALL. Â Since there were two of us sharing several dishes, we were okay, but if you plan on ordering it as an entree, plan on adding a few other items. Â A server accidentally brought us a lamb slider that we didn't order, but it was delicious and ended up being the highlight of our meal. Â The combination of sauce, greens, and lamb is perfect.
For Sunday night movies, small plates, and wine, we will definitely be back soon!
2.5 stars. Should be good, but we were in a crappy spot at the end of the bar next to a birthday boy and his middle aged newlywed friends. Oh and there was a baby at the bar too. It was super packed while tallula next door was deserted. Avoid bang bang broccoli if you are on a date...it will haunt you (and your breath) all night long. Steak frites - really small portion. Thai mussels ok but several were closed. Vino great but they are sticklers on the 6oz pour.
Review Source:EatBar is tiny but packs a punch. The "lounge" room is room tucked away behind the bar- makes for a great space where you don't have to shout at the people you're with (it can get a little bit loud sometimes). The cocktails are absolutely fantastic. I am especially a fan of the Bobby Burns (scotch, lemon syrup) and the Gnomes Water (gin, lavender, cucumber). Most people here know how to make a good cocktail albeit with too much ice.
The food at EatBar is great but it can err on the pricier side, especially for munchies. For example, a single lamb slider is $5 (keep in mind, it is slider-sized). The EatBar hot dog will set you back nearly $10. The marshmallow fluff donut pair was a let down- while it was warm and chocolate-y on the outside, the fluff was anything but: it oozed out, completely in liquid form. Methinks not. What you do need to try is the pork belly donut, but only if you're not counting calories. It is decadent but well worth a single trip there.
Bonus: Sunday morning classic cartoons + one of the tastiest brunches in Arlington!
