Don't take my 3 stars as a snub to the joint, we just haven't been overly impressed but still continue to stop in to watch a game.
Pros: Tons of Tvs. The best sports bar we've found in the Dunedin Area. Friendly service and a great selection of beers. We have been neither impressed nor disgusted by the food and honestly, after a few beers - anything tastes good.
Cons: We were trying to watch the tourny and a band started playing. Not only did they not have the "big game" on the TV with the sound on (so we could at least hear the game), but then they played a band? We were not impressed by this, at all.
Visit time/day: dinner on a weeknight
Atmosphere: Chucky Cheese meets dirty Daytona Beach Tiki-Sports-Children's bar
Upon recommendation from the maintenance guy who did work at the home we are renting we tried Eddies. When we arrived we were confused as to where to enter the restaurant - we couldn't find a door into the building but saw there was a 1/2 gate entrance to the Tiki style patio so came in through that. The patio had a bit of a barf/dirty smell to it (think Daytona Beach spring break) so we thought we'd try indoors. Unfortunately, the indoors smelled worse - like dirty keg lines that haven't been cleaned out (yah, I used to be a bartender). The smell, accompanied by several TV's (50?) all playing different channels, and the romper room full of children playing games (basketball toss, air hockey, pool, etc.), made us choose outside. Who in the heck brings their kids to this place - alcoholics? ;) Probably was due to the 'kids eat free' special.... but still.
The waitress was friendly and provided decent service. I ordered one of the Monday specials - Filet Medallions in a balsamic reduction accompanied by a side salad, side (I chose Pub Chips - yes tacky), and dessert (NY style cheesecake) - all for $9.95. Side salad was a decent but would have been better with homemade ranch dressing vs. the bottled kind. The filet medallions were a bit overcooked (ordered medium but were served medium well to well), the balsamic reduction was decent but way too much was served (swimming in it), and Pub Chips were thick but tasted stale. But, what did I expect for $9.95, right? ;) My dining partner ordered the French Dip with Taters Tots. French Dip was very small and disappointing - tasted like Steak-ums, but Tater Tots were great! NY Cheesecake was a very small slice of not homemade cheesecake - not worth the calories.
Side note: throughout our mediocre meal we had to watch (and listen to) a table of what looked like high school age kid 'slamming beer' - a bit disturbing, but could explain the smell of the patio and bar.
Will not go back to Eddies - not because of the mediocre food, because of the environment. The place needs to be hosed down with bleach - inside and out. I'm no snob - I totally appreciate a good dive bar or restaurant, but this one felt STICKY....
The Ridiculous Burger is ridiculously delicious. Too many kids here during the daylight hours for me. Seems like a good place to watch the game, but I don't know how that would work out with kids at every turn. Perhaps they should rename it Eddies Bar, Grille, and Babysitters? They can watch your kids for you while you get plastered? Â I'll only ever go back for the burger. Can't get a burger like that everywhere!
Review Source:Such a diverse bar is hard to find. While it doesn't specialize in anything, there are things people of all ages can enjoy: arcade and active sports games for the kids and young at heart, plenty of beer and a full bar with frequent happy hours/ladies night drink specials, and bar food that does the trick in a pinch.
Hint: the more you drink, the better their food gets. The nachos are piled high and a good one to share (as in - I try to share all of it so I don't have to eat any, it tastes that good...)
So some co-workers were meeting up here for birthday drinks and we decided to make the trek. Â Here is what I can tell you off the bat; 40+ televisions, good vantage points on all of them, 40-50 beers on tap and good food. Â I'll come back to the good food thing in a minute. Â First thing's first.. What you should know about this place is that it is very family-friendly. Â So until around 9:30 PM at night, this place is CRAWLING with children of all ages, and appropriately so because there is a game room with air hickey, skeet ball, video games and pool tables. Â I imagine trying to get in a serious game of pool would be a pain in the ass until later in the evening. Â So if you're not feeling the kid thing, get there later. Â Also, there is no smoking indoors, but there is a very nice and large seating area outside that smoking easy. Â We puffed on some stogies out there for a large portion of the evening.
As for food, the only thing we had was THE RIDICULOUS BURGER and it WAS ridiculous. Â For $14, you get a burger with 2 fried eggs, ham, bacon, Swiss, blue cheese and the buns... Hell who needs buns when you have grilled cheese sandwiches? LOL Â Plenty for two people to split, and DAMN TASTY!! Â By default, the eggs will be cooked well done, so if you like the yolks a little runny, you'll need to specify upon ordering.
All in all, a decent place and I'd definitely go back. Â I just don't get out to Dunedin much.
Since moving to Dunedin, we started going to Eddie's, and it is a very good sports bar. We were there last night for a friend's birthday, and had a good time. Love all the flat screens for watching hockey or football.
They have some interesting menu items, like the Reuben Roll, very good!
They are also dog friendly outside, with a large area. If you are in the area, check it out!
A bit raucous. Very large area for smokers. Kid's game room for adults too.
The big hoot here is the trivia game going on continuously. I'll admit it is adictive.
The food is a bit better than typical sports bar fare that is typical from this area.
Good selection of domestic and imported beer.
They've done renovations. It's a lot bigger, cleaner, less smokey than it used to be. It's a fun place to watch a game with friends, with a cheap cocktail or beer. They have some arcade games, including air hockey & ski ball, so that's fun.
We went on a Tuesday cause they had $1 tacos and the flyer said ladies drink free. WRONG! FALSE ADVERTISING! Ladies pay $5 for unlimited drinks. I admit, that's a good deal, but definitely not free like the flyer stated. The manager said that if I filled out a form with all of my private information, I could get a little pink card that would allow me to drink free in the future. Still a scam. Also, the $1 tacos were worse than Taco Bell on a bad day. Save your $1. Go somewhere else.
Great sports bar with flat screens throughout. Â Attached game room is like a mini chuck e cheese (great for kids and drunk adults acting like kids ). Rumored to have the best wings around. Wouldn't know as I just had the burger. Tots were awesome. 40 beers on tap, if you like beers. Outdoor seating and a friendly staff. Great Dunedin establishment. Check it out if you're looking for a fun time.
Review Source:In Dec 2008, I came to Dunedin for a week on a home search. I stayed at an HI Express and spoke to the night clerk there. Asked him about a bar to watch a game at and he told me Eddie's was the place to go.
Ten months later, I finally hit Eddies to see if they had a Nebraska game that was on a sports ticket. The greeter ( who turned out to be the owner) told me, "If it's on, we'll show it!" Sweet. Since that day, I spent the NFL Sundays there .I've also sampled the Buffalo Boneless Chicken Bites, the burgers, and some of the famed  "sammiches." Everyone is friendly there and service has always been great for me considering the place can get jammed. It's my neighborhood sports bar of choice.
Check out their website link above. This place is sick! And I live 6 minutes away! P
A friend wanted to watch a fight only showing here, so we walked from Main Street Dunedin to here. Â A decent 10-minute walk, but it wasn't soo bad with the cooler night weather near the water. Â You wouldn't think a sports pub can be found in the middle of suburban Dunedin but it certainly is a gem.
Besides the large venue with ample seating and TVs everywhere, what won me over was the arcade games available. Â As far as I'm concerned you can't go wrong with skee ball and air hockey, especially after a few beers. Â Surprisingly good fish spread for a sports pub, and my other friends who ate said their selection was good too.
A great laid-back local sports pub for a casual get-together with friends to see the big game with a crowd of other fans. Â If this was my neighborhood I'd regular this place.
Eddie's is the place to be! Â If you are a regular everyone has your back. Â If you are looking for ladies, Tuesdays are the night (ladies drink free). Â Sundays during football season it has every game. Â The bartenders are the best (big props to Manny, Nick, Erica, Pee Wee, Crystal and all the other bartenders). Â They have a game room, where kids can play or after ten drunken fools can stay entertained. Â Try their famous wings, mouth savoring steak bites and pot stickers.
