I was so freakin' excited to see my favorite band ever ever ever (The Decemberists!!!!) play here on Halloween (the second year in a row they have played the week of my b-day...last year they played on my bday and I almost died)...but the sound here blows so bad! I couldn't hear Colin Meloy sing at all half the time I was there! They sold no food and obviously no drinks (note the sign "Wheaton College: For Christ and His Kingdom"). At least they had nice bathrooms and lots of seats (we stood up front though).
Worst part? The show started late, aroun 8pm...and wrapped up at 945. I was like, "tell me you're joking". Nope. 945. So we found a bar in what I thought was a dry town (apparently it hasn't been in 15 years, my bad) and killed an hour waiting for the metra. I was happy to see them but I'm not sure it was worth $35 and an hour trip each way on the metra, then a transfer to the orange line.
We saw Iron and Wine - well Sam Beam solo - here in February. Â It was a great experience. Â Seats were comfy, acoustics were good, crowd was into it and well behaved. Â
Hey I just found out you can buy the concert online. Â

I just saw the CSO here Friday night! Â Yes, you read correctly, the CSO in Wheaton! Â I've also seen the St. Louis Symphony here (with Leonard Slatkin).
This "chapel" really is set up as an auditorium and it has get acoustics! Â The seats are comfy and there is plenty of legroom.
My only beef about this place is the bathrooms. Â They are clean, but there's only 1 men and 1 women's in the main lobby, so intermission time can be spent waiting and waiting...... Â I don't get what the problem is, you go in there, do what you have to do and come out! Â I think some people are writing a book in there. Â There's a line...move along!
Anyway, many musical performances are held here at Edman Chapel and all the ones I've been to are wonderful. Â Check out the Wheaton College Perfoming Arts Series!
