I only got tacos. Â Tacos! How could it go so wrong? Â Meat was dry, salty and looked like ground beef not steak. Â I even tried to mask the horrible taste with lots of salsa and avocado to no avail. Â I guess the beans were okay but if you can't make a good taco then forget it. Â When I walked in on a Saturday afternoon, the place was deserted. Â Should have known.
Review Source:One night, after a show at the Burlington, I was starving and noticed the lights of El Pacifico on my way home. As it happened, the place was open til 3 am and I figured I'd check out their take on a classic Chicago late night staple: the steak burrito. I was the only person in the restaurant, but the service was friendly and the food quite fresh. Good salsas, decent-sized burrito, and perfectly reasonable prices. I wouldn't claim that I was overwhelmed, but it's a good spot for a quick meal. I'll certainly be back at some point when my food cravings overwhelm my rational desire to just head home. If I lived closer, I could see coming here much more frequently.
Review Source:Since Sol Del Sur closed, I needed a place close that had good Mexican food.
El Pacifico is a little corner restaurant that's kind of cheesy and off beat, however, I've never had a bad burrito/taco from them (Steak and Barbacoa specifically). The quesdillas are a little greasy, but hey, welcome to the world of meat and cheese (not to mention they are really delicious).
Their queso fundido was a little much for me, I personally like Puebla/El Cid's better, but it's not terrible by any means, just heavy.
The prices aren't bad and the staff has always been great whether I dine in or pick up, and I've never had to wait for carry out, it's ALWAYS ready once I get there.
I love El Pacifico, they do a great job with standard food at a good price. if you're walking in here and expect something all fancy for your pretentious food blog, go elsewhere, you're only going to scoff. However, if you AREN'T an asshole, then I suggest it, it will be delicious.
I used to live a couple blocks away in Logan Square, and this was  my place to go for a cheap quick and good mexican.
The service is quick, attentive, and friendly. I love their al pastor tacos, and carne asada in a dark mole. I'm not big on their fish dishes, though fish tacos are great, and would definitely recommend.
They have outside seating off the side street which is nice for a warm evening outside.
My querida and I went here for a late supper since it's just down the street a ways. Â It's every bit the good, no frills, wallet-friendly place I hoped it would be. Â A pretty serious burrito de chorizo, torta suprema al pastor, guacamole, and two margaritas were well under $40 before tax and tip...can't beat that.
The food, too, was solid. Â It's a taqueria with some platillos; you kinda know what to expect if you, say, went to college in south Texas. Â That said, they did everything WELL...which is not always the case. Â My torta was spot on, and they clearly took the time to give the bread a light toast, which always adds a nice texture contrast. Â Sometimes, it's the little things. Â The burrito, too, was prepared with just the right attention to detail to be a real joy to eat. Â Definitely coming back to scratch the taqueria itch.
Yet another nice neighborhood Mexican joint in Logan Square.
I live two blocks away, which helped me find the place, but after eating here a few times, I'll come back as long as I live in Chicago.
The staff are friendly, they have a bar that covers all your basic needs for Mexican cuisine (beer, tequila, sangria, other basic liquor drinks), and best of all (and somewhat unique to small neighborhood places like this in Logan Square) THEY HAVE OUTDOOR SEATING. Prices are a bit more (~$1) than a couple other places, but it's still cheap, and the quality is better than the cheaper places, too. Â I'm a total cheapass, and I see where my extra $$ is going.
I've had burritos, tacos, chimichangas, enchiladas, and tostadas. When last there, my GF got something with shrimp and rice, cooked in butter. It was fantastic. The server exclaimed "look at this, downtown you'd pay $30 for this!" While I don't know if it'd be $30, it would definitely be $20 downtown, it was only $12 at El Pacifico, and it was incredible.
They also take credit cards, and are open plenty late (hit them up after The Burlington or The Double, if you've got room left).
Yet another lovely spot. If you live in Logan Square, hit this place up.
Me and my family decided to have lunch after returning from traveling over seas. Everything seemed to be going good. However when it was time to pay, Â the waitress overlooked me to take care someone behind me. The waitress exhibited prejudice behavior. Â She was very aware that I was the first one in line. This type of customer service should never be acceptable. We will never patron this restaurant again.
Review Source:This place is pretty nice, especially since it's around the Logan Square area. I typically go here once a month as my girlfriend enjoys getting the Micheladas. The food here is great and the price is very affordable. My only complaint with the place is the lack of beers. Sure you have your Dos Equis and Coronas, but there's barely any domestic  and there's no lager. Also, there's no draft beers, which are great to have with Mexican food. But other than my complaints about the lack of beer and liquor available, the food is good. I recommend ordering tacos with cilantro and onions as well as trying the bistek dinner.
Review Source:Well since Sol Del Sur has been shut down for weeks and I've been craving tacos like nobodies business I decided to give this place a shot.  Ok  I liked the fact that my steak tacos were pretty good and tender and the red sauce was pretty spicy.  The guac was very blah so I dont recommend it.  Hmmm I would say for all you Sol Del Sur fans to give this place a shot...its not the same but it'll have to do lol.
Review Source:It certainly helps that this place is in walking distance to home, but even so, I'd still go here if I had to drive. Fresh food, nice staff, homemade horchata. What else is there to need? It's not fancy, but you're not paying for Rick Bayless either. It really fits the bill of "I don't feel like cooking tonight" because you're not going to break the bank.
Review Source:I just finished eating my carne asada burrito. It was edible but I'm definitely never going back. The most flavorless burrito I've ever had (unless the aftertaste of poor quality meat counts as a flavor). The meat was also disgustingly greasy. And trust me, I'm no stranger to greasy foods. I've been known to cook with bacon grease every now and then. But the greasiness of the burrito was a bad kind of greasy.
Review Source:My experience was undesirable.
While eating vegetarian soup - I noticed a match stick floating with the veggies. Ugh..what the hell? In disgust I showed the waitress the lifeless stick, she then whispered her apologies and walked away.
As an occasional patron, I noticed the waitress talking with the owner and thought maybe she would personally apologize for her cook's negligence, etcera.
But she didn't.
Minutes later our entrees came out, but it was far to late as our appetites were forever lost.
Adios
Yummiest, most delicious mexican style tacos in Logan Square. The other things are good as well but steak tacos are my absolute favorite. Its very affordable and service is quick. The meat isn't fatty and is seasoned just right. The woman who takes the orders is extremely quiet but she still gets your whole order right. She smiles if you ever stand up and start to dance in the restaurant though. Like I did...
Review Source:This was the first place I tried in my new neighborhood and I was pleasantly surprised that is was awesome. Most places I have lived in other cities, it has been hard to find a Mexican restaurant that lives up to my standards, but this place certainly does. Potato flautas, enchiladas suizas, burrito suizo, tostadas, beans and rice are all things I have had and are all consistently yummy. Â Potato flautas (loaded with guacamole, sour cream and cheese on top) and enchiladas suizas (amazing limey flavor and perfect dipped-in-chile tortillas) are the standouts...drool. A large orchata is both delicious and giant. Very cute atmosphere and nice people, so it is a nice place to eat in, but also a great go to for take-out.
Review Source:I can walk here... my lazy butt realized a few weeks ago therefore I like this place. The food is not out of this world but the service is exceptionally friendly and the environment is laid back. The food is also cheap and there are a few vegetarian options. A Grande Margarita pitcher with the upgrade on tequila is around $25 (maybe $27). We (two glutenous drinkers) were plastered after binge drinking the whole thing in 2 hours. I would recommend more than 2 people at the table if you get the Grande size... that's all I'm saying.
The vegetarian burrito is Very large and I think each one has an entire avocado in it. I recommend getting it Suizo because the hot sour cream and cheese crisp over the top makes it a diet-murdering dream.
I usually also get a steak quesadilla too. The cheese and seasoning are very salty and I think it goes wonderfully with a margarita (I don't like a salted glass just salty food).
With the chips and salsa you also get hot(spicy) vegetables. I have assumed that this medley is ethnic to the owners since I have never seen it before. It consists of jalapenos, potatoes and carrots in a liquid. I like to tuck those veggies into my veggie burrito to spice it up.
FYI... I picked up a to-go menu the last time I was here. There was a note that all prices include tip... The server has never brought the check to the table... ever. I have eaten here around 10 times in the last 2 years. I have always tipped her 20-30%. I assume from reading that this is practiced but I will say that $5 for a gigantic burrito is FINE with me- and I will still add a little extra. If their prices include tip then they are not charging enough. I think that the prices on the menu are a good representation of the food that you receive.
The service is always prompt and courteous. But, I've noticed their steak burrito is smaller than other restaurants in the area. I always order to-go. So, I can't speak to the dine-in service. Overall, I like the food and would say they have a more targeted menu than other Mexican diners.
Review Source:EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THAT THEY AUTOMATICALLY ADD 15% TO THE BILL! Â We never really looked that close at the bills, until recently. Â We asked the waitress to take it off and we'd give her a larger tip, but she said she couldn't (management??) I wonder if the waitresses even get these tips. JUST THOUGHT YOU SHOULD KNOW.
We like this place for it's average Mexican food (no dishes with mole, for example) Â but it isn't anything to seek our.
Good sturdy mexican food which deserves a 3 star rating but there are a few things about Pacifico that put it a cut above the average tacaria
1. Outdoor sidewalk seating face Drake, tucked away.
2. A good drink menu
3. Specials. Â More than the usual stuff, ive never gone in that I knew everything on the menu. Â I've been eating here since 1989.
And it's kid friendly. Â Bring them in and after they toss rice every where the waitress is still happy to see you, just give them a couple extra bucks for their effort. Â And there is parking in the rear !
El Pacifico is the first restaurant I visited when I moved to the neighborhood. I live pretty much across the street and this is very convenient since it has become my favorite place to get take out. Though I will go in for a meal if I have the time because I love the warmth inside this restaurant.
The staff are the sweetest people, and within a couple of visits they began to recognize us and now know what we want before we even ask. The space is real and solid; I love the Mexican jukebox, fake flowers, and vinyl tablecloths. And my margarita arrived in a plastic glass that had cactus arms on it! It wasn't the best margarita ever, but it was tart and there was tequila in it. The horchata is very good. The coconut milkshake was basically shredded coconut and milk--totally not what I expected but interesting and very fun to drink.
The nachos were piled with beans and at first the serving looked small...but then we got our burritos and I was glad that there weren't more nachos. The veggie burrito was packed with all the right stuff and the tortilla was perfectly chewy and didn't break and spill my burrito contents all over. I also had a fish taco and it was delicious! Lots of onions and lime to compliment the fried fish. I get at least one fish taco every time I order food here. Also, they are generous with the salsa and I appreciate that.
Meh. Â The steak tacos were just OK. Â I was very disappointed that they had no onions or cilantro on them. Â Since another Yelper said these were standard ingredients in the tacos I did not specifically ask for these items. Â My bad, I guess. Â I was happy to see a ceviche tostada on the menu...probably the best thing I ate from here and it was also just OK. Â The Guacamole was just BAD. Â I generally like a lot of salt in my guac. but this was WAY too salty, even for me.
I would never actually have sit-down meal in this place. Â Like the food, the interior is pretty bland and unremarkable.
God do I miss Taqueria el Asadero!
As surprising as it sounds, it's hard to find good Mexican food. Â But, if you live in the neighborhood or if you travel for food like I do, you should try El Pacifico.
It's very homey, has the jukebox blaring with Mexican songs, and the people are very friendly. Â
I would recommend the chimmichanga, the enchiladas with the red sauce, and their burritos. Â The milanesa sandwich was good, but the bread was too chewy and didn't rip apart easily when you bit into it.
Keep in mind, it's not super fantastic, but it's solid, good and well priced.
My girlfriend and I just moved into Logan Square, and our first night we were wandering around looking for a place to  eat after returning our moving truck. We ended up going here and were pleasantly surprised. I had some tacos and a burrito, both were really good. My girlfriend had the enchiladas, which she liked as well.
Decor and atmosphere were kind forgettable. But the servers were kind.
Lovely family run establishment, they live upstairs from the joint. I adore their tacos, one of the few places I don't have to specify that all I require is steak, onions and cilantro. Very friendly and easy on the wallet. Good margaritas, and a rather nice tequila selection if one is so inclined. Not much on atmosphere, but it hardly matters with food this good.
Review Source:I used to eat here when I lived in West Logan Square before it started to yuppify. Â I went back the other day. Â Nothing to write home about, but good standard (and consistently good) Mexican fare. Â Pretty good margaritas and food and drink are fairly priced. Â Good salsa with a bit of a kick. Â Yep.
