even though i don't have time to go out much b/c im always in the hosp, i am fortunate enough to have some of rotations in diff neighborhoods...this time i'm close to home but it gives me a chance to explore. i don't know why this place doesn't have more reviews especially since it's super cheap and has every type of torta that you can conjure up and a huge menu of other items, most things under 6 bux. the salsa and chips that come out before the meal were ok, but i really liked the salsa cuz they make it more spicy than at other restaurants....i went for the combo platter with a huge taco, tostada and quesadilla with beans and rice all for less than 7 bux. the food was decent though i thought the beans were a little bland but not bad. the tamarindo was a little watered down but maybe i got the last of the batch....the waitress who was also the cashier was super nice and they play soccer. overall it was a solid meal and i think i'll go back to try the tortas...come with =)
Review Source:OK, they don't have beer. Â And they're not very busy. Â And you'd have to be pretty stupid to get a taco.
I went today to watch the U.S. beat Mexico - again - in World Cup Qualifying. Â I wore my U.S. jersey. Â I made it out alive. Â If they had killed me after letting me eat my torta, I would have called it even.
Look, go. Â Get a torta - the big one. Â The nice lady will pack the half you don't eat up for you. Â The tortas have funny names. Â The chips and salsa were good. Â But go for the tortas - everything else you can pretty much leave. Â But you see those five stars? Â The tortas are that damn good.
i love the rocky's in albany park, but my workplace moved and it's no longer convenient. luckily, i just found out there's another location just a little ways from my house. i got my longtime "torta fultbolera" standby, "la jorge campos", with cecina, grilled onions & guacamole, and it was every bit as good. plus, they give you free fries at this one. they have a projection screen which i assume they use to show the bigger soccer matches, but today's monarcas/san luis game was just on the regular tv. still, you could find worse places to watch futbol.
