I grabbed a quick breakfast after staying a night in the Hotel Lincoln. Within the hotel's lobby I observed it was also a neighborhood routine for morning commuters. Another reviewer wondered what makes the steel cut oatmeal so tasty. I suspect there was a pat of butter melted deep within. I ordered the daily fruit - dried cherries and dried apricots - but that's not all I tasted. It was creamy, robust but perhaps buttery. In any case, better than I make at home and better than most I've eaten. The coffee was also delicious. Neither burned nor bitter. It may not be your taste, but it's mine. A wonderful Good Morning start.
Review Source:One of the best lattes I've had in Chicago! Â Great staff who really know their stuff. Â I own a large coffee shop so I know how one should run...these guys have nailed it.
Fresh pastries all made in-house. Â
This place was so good we bought drinks more than once a day for the four day we were in Chicago.
This place (and the Hotel Lincoln) is a gem...it's a must do if you plan on traveling to Chicago!
I am so happy that joie de vivre took over the management of Hotel Lincoln, and, along with the good people of Perennial Virant, they opened ELAINE'S! Nino is the best, and Elaine's/PV cook up the best oatmeal in the city. Seriously, I don't know what they put in it... Love, maybe. The coffee (La Colombe) is great, and the locally-sourced menu options are delicious.
I start my day at Elaine's Coffee Call at least 2-3 times a week. Thanks to Nino and the great folks at Elaine's for making my mornings a little brighter.
