The food was ok. The Eggs Benedict was good, but relatively classic and not remarkable. Personally, I don't get excited about country potatoes. I prefer hash browns.
I dined near the entrance and found the ambiance to be reminiscent of Perkins. It is a very busy restaurant, but I just find the interiors to be a little on the sterile side.
Our server Selina was great! She was super nice and welcoming. Not to mention, her accent was lovely!
Perhaps, I need to come back and try the cornflake crusted French toast in the photos because that looks delish!
Nookies, Nookies, Nookies; oh how I wanted to enjoy this experience just a bit more than I actually did...
I was visiting Chicago (home) this past week and a friend of mine lives by the Nookie's on Wells St. We decided to check it out, as I had heard there was a Nookies that recently opened near where I had lived previously. It was mid afternoon so I ordered lunch items and my friend ordered breafast items. I been told before that their breafast was pretty good - but I was just not in the mood for it.
Anyway, my friend ordered standard eggs and bacon with hashbrowns. I ordered soup and a tuna melt. I can't speak for my friend's food, but everything was just mediocre. For all the hype that I had heard about this place, I thought the decore (which definitely left something to be desired) would have an edge.
I think I simply just had much higher expectations. The food was edible - but nothing to write home about. The ambiance/decor was that of any other diner type restaurant. Next time I a in Chicago I will probably not make it a priority to come back and visit a Nookies.
