My boyfriend and I enjoy the Elephant Bar for date nights because of the delicious Mai Tais. He always orders the orange chicken served over rice (white or brown) and be enjoys it. He has never said its amazing or anything but its good. I ordered the steak and lobster with a side of garlic mashed potatoes one night and it was really good except for the mashed potatoes. They were bland in my opinion and I had ordered my steak medium and it was so bloody the bloody juice got on my mashed potatoes so I got real disgusted. I don't think I'm ordering steaks medium anymore anywhere. The last time we ate there I ordered the steak sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. This time I ordered the steak well done. The sandwich is served open face. It made it real awkward to eat. The steak tasted like burnt rubber and the sweet potato fries were okay. I ate there sweet potato fries years ago during happy hour and I remember them tasting really good. I think our favorite thing at Elephant Bar is the Parmesan crusted green beans (appetizer) served with a spicy flavored sauce (amazing) and the Mai Tais. So far I have yet to discover a great dish there to eat. And as far as the service, we have never had a problem. We always have a happy, upbeat positive server and I discovered the best time to go on a Saturday night to avoid waiting is late (anytime after 8:30pm).

Didn't care for my salmon much but I've tried the steak and coconut shrimp from my husbands plate and they were delicious. Also the tempura salmon rolls and Jungle Piña Colada was awesome. Will check em out again. If not the food, certainly for the drinks ;) Just sayin.

Love the bar part of the bar and restaurant.

Their food is good, and the chefs are very accommodating if you have special requests or dietary needs. I'm not gluten free but a friend of mine is. They told her that they can make certain items on the menu gluten free for the day if they know she's coming in. Wow.

I've been to several gatherings here for both food and drinks. A very pleasant and enjoyable experience every time.

Came in today in search of a nice salad with salmon on it.  I received an email titled "Get a Free lunch today."  Well who am I to say no to that?  It was a buy one lunch get one free deal, that is still good for a few more weeks (8/19/13). 11-4pm every day of the week not only weekdays which is usually the case. You get these type of coupons when you join their email club. So is a good option for any of you going to the California State Fair in the next few weeks.  There is usually something for everyone here since they have a fairly large menu.  I did find a salmon salad on menu but had them alter it a bit since the BBQ Thai salmon looked too sweet and sugary for me. I had them put plain salmon with no sauce on my greens with no dressing.  They were very accommodating and my salad was fabulous.  It was a little overpriced $13.95 but with the buy one get one free lunch it was a very nice deal.  Hubby got the cob salad and it was certainly loaded with goodies. This was a late lunch and the place was still pretty busy at 2:30pm on Friday so we had to wait a little longer than I would have expected for the two salads. I have been here during the height of lunch hour with a larger group and the service was faster so not sure what happened today. Overall it was a very nice lunch and the salmon portion on my salad was a nice surprise.  I might be back here sooner since I have a few more emails with those coupons.

Service great, atmosphere wonderful, food...okay. Great place to meet up with friends. I just wish I had liked the food better. My salmon salad was disappointing.  I enjoy restaurants that use better quality ingredients. My tummy doesn't enjoy the food at chains like this one. It's hard finding something on the menu that doesn't make me feel gross afterward. I tried my friends tofu rice salad. It was much better than my selection. I say stick to vegetarian menu at this place.

I came here on July 4th after doing some shopping. This place was not busy at all and our waiter seemed pretty miserable to be at work. It sucks working on a holiday but that doesn't mean neglect your customers and bring the mood down.

The food was good as always though. I ordered the Jambalaya and my other friends ordered off the happy hour menu. The spinach dip and the lettuce wraps were my top picks on the happy hour menu. I would definitely come back here again for the food. I should probably come here when it is NOT a holiday!

After a half hour wait, our food finally arrived. Now this would be normal, if we hadn't ordered an appetizer of garlic cheesy bread. After finally putting the appetizer order in we started on our food. The steak sandwich was lukewarm and looked reheated. My dish was the burrito which looked microwave, which makes sense since the food was bordering on cold and the plate was scalding. The only dish hot was the chicken strips, which was delicious but certainly not enough food for everyone. We sent the food back and without saying a word the waitress took off with our plate. The bread arrived and tasted almost stale. Finally after almost ten minutes we waved down the waitress and told her to cancel or orders we were leaving.

This wasn't the end of this misadventure when the supervisor came up and asked us if we were sure we wouldn't wait for our meals to be corrected. We said we'd had enough.

The manager was 'kind' enough to take everything but the bread and strips off since we'd said they were edible. Apparently that's good enough for them to feel it necessary to charge a frustrated customer for.

Over all the message is this, only order chicken strips and don't bother expecting decent service anywhere but the bar.

This was a very upsetting experience since I just love their strips, but they've manager to ruin anything else I might of thought they did well.

My boyfriend and I went to try the Elephant Bar last night. It was our first time to visit and we were very much looking forward to a Saturday dinner date night at the restaurant. I wish we could have gone in for a full dining experience, but unfortunately we could not get past the lack of customer service by the evening hostess.

We went in and were told there would be a 5 minute wait, so we gladly sat down in the waiting area. We noticed that other customers had buzzers and were being called by name. The hostess neither wrote down either of our names or gave us a buzzer. 5, 10, then 20 minutes pass by with no gesture that a table was ready for us, and we watched as people who arrived after us were seated before us. My boyfriend went up to the desk to inquire about the wait and to grab a buzzer. After a half hour of waiting, we decided to leave and take our business elsewhere because we ended up being the only two customers waiting in the waiting area, still with no table.

It would have been nice if the hostess recognized that she didn't write a name down for us or give us a buzzer, but she didn't notice. And might I add that there were 4 employees that were at the front at one point.

I really wished we could have tried the food, but our disappointment with the initial service left us with such a sour taste that we really just wanted to leave.

This was my second visit. I was invited to come back by the General Manager Robert because I didn't have a pleasant first visit. He was very friendly and professional with great customer service. He made me feel very welcomed.

My boyfriend and I sat at the bar (happy hour from 4-7p). I ordered a Olu Passion Mai Tai from their happy hour menu which was half off ($3.62) and it was delicious! One of the best Mai Tai's I've had. Brings me back to my visit in Hawaii. My guy ordered the Classic Burger, Fries, and domestic drink from the happy hour as well for $6.75 (what a steal deal!). The burger was cooked to perfection. We also ordered the Warm and Spicy Artichoke Dip from the happy hour  ($4.50) which was surprisingly pretty good. Our server, I believe his name was Jake was very pleasant. He had perfect timing on checking up with us for refills, feedback, etc... The other manager that assisted was Tony. He was very helpful, persistent, and had wonderful customer service. He made sure that we enjoyed what we ordered and that we were being taken good care of. We had a great dinner experience.

Aside from the service, the food was delicious. After all of the happy hour food, I was unable to finish my dinner entree. I ordered the Shrimp Adventure Platter. It came with coconut fried shrimp, wood-fired terriyaki glazed shrimp, and hand breaded fried shrimp which came with 2 sides. I swapped my veggies out for the garlic mashed potatoes but kept the fries. I didn't quite enjoy the sauces that came with it nor the garlic mashed potatoes but the variety of shrimp itself was delicious. My guy ordered the Surf n Turf Trio which consisted of an 8 oz steak, jumbo prawns, and coconut shrimp with green beans and garlic mashed potatoes. He enjoyed the shrimp but he scores the steak at a 7.5/10.

I gave this place 4/5 stars when we first walked in, the hostess didn't ask whether we wanted to sit at the bar for happy hour or sit on the diner side. We had no clue that we couldn't order off of the menu unless we were seated in the seperate bar until 15 mins after we had already sat there waiting for a server to introduce herself.

Thank you Robert and Tony for making our return experience an memorable one. We both appreciate it!

What the heck happened to you, elephant bar? This location has changed it's menu. It's very Asian cuisine oriented now. Maybe they all have changed?

My review is for the sauteed chicken marsala, mainly. This was NOT chicken marsala. It was chicken covered in turkey gravy. While the chicken was cooked really well, very tender and juicy, and then they go and toss turkey gravy on it? The heck? Also, the mashed potatoes that came with it were instant potatoes, not real potatoes...why?

They've also changed their macaroni. One if my friends got it and it's a lot more cheaply made. It used to be different cheeses and croutons. Now it's just kinda velveeta-y and there's not croutons. I actually thought it was pretty good this way (kinda garlicy!) but I am sad the old style is gone.

Also, all the premade burgers are gone. They have a make your own  burger thing now. I think this is both a good and bad thing, tho, cos you can't recreate some of their signature burgers from before, but its nice to be to make to order.

First off on a Friday night wait time is usually 1 hour or more. We arrived around 8:30pm an d was told the wait was between 15-20 mins, which it was. I was soo happy about that. There were 4 of us 2 adults 2 kids this is what we ordered:
    appetizer sampler
    BBQ ribs kids meal
    corn dog kids meal
    and a cheese burger

My daughter wanted a strawberry lemonade...waiter said they normally don't do that but he did. My sons ribs were fall off the bone tender and moist. The spinach dip not sooo good but the coconut shrimp and dipping sauces were delish(appitezer sampler). Husband got to watch the game while eating because they have a ton of flat screens all over the walls. He said the burger was alright but big!
The only negative was  it was soo cold my son was using the napkin as a blanket...so we took dessert to go..which again our waiter was really nice about packing us up to go! total bill was around $50

Came in on a busy Saturday evening for dinner.

There was a 1 hour wait, but I just stalked the bar area and found myself and daughter a nice table in about 10 mins.

Super nice server and fast ! Had the chicken marsala and even tho I was starving could only eat 1/2. So much food!  It was less marsala-y then I have had before, but then maybe these chain places have to temper their flavors to appeal to a larger demographic? It was still very good, however the sauteed spinach with garlic it was served with was the star! That was so good I'd order it on its own. The garlic mashed were yummy too.

DD had the sirloin, it was cooked perfectly and was large enough to satisfy completely.

All in all a very nice experience at the EB. I think this is one of the better chains out there, I really do.

Like most Elephant Bar locations, this is a good option for a decent lunch or dinner.  The decor is fun, service is good, and menu is...well...elephant sized!  It's hard NOT to be overwhelmed by the multitude of choices here.

I DO NOT understand why I keep coming back to this place. Their food is wayy too expensive for me, being the college student that I am; however, their was this one time a couple months back where I had such a craving for their Chicken Marsala, I would drool, literally, every time I would be sitting there waiting for it to arrive in front of me. Oh, God, that dish is unbelievable. I could eat 2 of those as dinner portions and still be hungry.

Worst rice I have ever had in my life.  Do not eat at this restaurant.  Rice was so bad, dry and hard that it drove me to create a yelp account.  On April 2, 2013 I hosted a business meeting at the elephant bar due to location.  To start we had appetizer scallop that we had to return because they were too soft.  Once the business meeting kicked off and we received the food I decided not to make a big deal out of it because of the meeting.

I ordered shrimp and chicken that had some bell peppers with steam rice.  I still don't understand how the steam rice could have been so dry and so hard if it is steamed.  After the meeting we left to do an estimate and when I returned to drop off an associate to pick up his truck.  I made it a point to speak with the kitchen manager.

I explained to him from the beginning that I have no intentions of trying to get anything for free or reimbursement or discounts of any sort before I disclosed my discontent and unsatisfactory experience with both my coworker and my meal.  The manager from the kitchen was gaging me while I was describing this as if i was lying and I reassured him that I have nothing to gain. I did express that I was very unhappy with the quality of food that we had for a very important business meeting and that I and my coworker would never ever eat at the elephant bar again due to this horrible experience.

The manager at the very end of My comments appeared to have believed me with a question still he asked me why are you telling me this now and not when it happened so we could've fixed it.  I simply told him I came here for a meeting the lunch was secondary and I did not want to disrupt the meeting.  The managers one and only attempt to try to make things right where when he said what can I do I don't want you to leave this way.  I took this opportunity to reassure him that I had no other motives and did not want anything for free or discounts of any sort.  I just wanted him to know what a terrible experience we had.

This was my first time dining at this particular restaurant but not my first dining experience at Elephant Bar. Most locations including this one boast an exotic interior design that welcomes you into the world of an African Safari.

With statuesque giraffe towering over the greeter section, you get the feeling that any minute a heard of elephants are going to come stampeding through and into the kitchen where the chef and staff are hard at work making the meals.

Outside of the décor the food rank similar to Chili's or TGIF Friday's. However, they do have healthier and light menu choices for food conscious and veggie lovers like moi! The menu is American, filled with steak, Maui, Maui, Salmon and Tilapia along with the staple Chicken and shrimp dishes.

If you are looking for a less hectic restaurant for dinner with the family I would recommend checking out The Elephant Bar.

I love to come here for their happy hours with friends. Happy hours menu is great! I usually ordered just appetizer. Coconut shrimp skewer,  Korean taco, chicken wrap and chicken tenders are YUMMY!!! Their Maitai is the best I've tried. I told them I want a light drink so they only put a little rum.  It came out sweet and smelled fruity just the way I wanted it!! Overall great experience for happy hours.

I had a GC to here so I took a group of 3 with me. We got our table promptly and the waiter came by to grab our drinks. It was happy hour at the bar and I guess they were busy. It took 10 mins for my long island to arrive and it was very watered down for $8.00. It was all sweet with a ton of ice to make it look full. My buddy's mai tai was also too sweet.

The food was decent. I had the ribeye and lobster. The lobster was 3 big shrimp. I could tell they been frozen, pretty rubbery in texture. Everyone else seem ok with there food. It was $130 for the 4 of us.

Ok our server name , Krystal.
first thing  our dinner must have ship in from over seas, then my ribs were stone cold also all my sides were all wrong!! wow, then they tried to serve our apps. while we were eating we sent them back, come on. my kids and wife said everything was just ok. krystal and someone aka manager came over and said sorry and they would comp some desserts for us. thank you. my problem the people that bring out the food and cook dont even look to see everything is right on the plates and also cold ribs how long were they sitting before they got to me. maybe they need a new manager in the back to help the kitchen. basic stuff!

krystal the server tried her best to make things right so thank you krystal.  so as for me and my family we are  never coming back.

I went in here late on Sunday night because some friends who had just gotten into town were staying at the nearby Double Tree. We sat in the bar area and the gentleman who waited on us was nice enough. Our drinks took forever, but we got them and then proceeded to order food. I noticed we didn't have any silverware and neither did a nearby party, but after I said something our server quickly brought it out.

Here's the real problem: My friend ordered a burger, medium. When it arrived and he started to eat it, the middle was completely raw. We sent it back and they apparently re-grilled the same half-eaten burger patty with a new piece of cheese and slapped it onto a new bun. After eating the portion of the burger that was bread and cheese only, my friend bit into his re-grilled hamburger patty to find that it was still completely raw. And at this point, he's disgusted and lost his appetite, so we left. I know they say third times a charm, but we just didn't have it in us after that.

We (three slightly rowdy blue collared jokers in our early 30's) came in for happy hour.
We sat at the bar where we were greeted by Mario. He was GREAT...professional and attentive with just the right amount of interaction. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip off the happy hour menu....now, i'm not a very picky person. I'll eat nearly anything put in front of my face but this "spinach artichoke dip" was like flavorless velveeta w/ frozen spinach. When it arrived to us at the bar, the top layer of it had coagulated, creating a thick layer of hardened grossness on the top.  We ate it anyways. By boyfriend described the flavor this way "it tastes like that thick flem that you get before you throw up." The chips it came with were good though.
Drinks during happy hour are a pretty good price. We ordered beers and a raspberry lemon drop. Everything was made/poured to perfection by Mario.
While we were waiting for our entres, one of the other bartenders, Carey, dropped and broke a glass.  My boyfriend poked a little fun at her and she DID NOT react well to it. She started off being rude and pretending to throw a glass at him. Then she was talking crap about us to some other customers.
So happy our food came to break up THAT awkwardness. The pear gorgonzola salad had a slightly fishy taste. The garden burger patty was microwaved (the outer edges of it were hard and rubbery) it was nothing to write home about.  The salmon tempura roll was delicious though.
2 stars: Over all, this was a crappy dinner. The only redeeming quality in this place was Mario, and the drinks.

Corporate mediocrity at its finest. While the safari theme may be designed to allow you to pretend you're in a restaurant in the shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro, in fact, the chain is from La Mirada. The menu makes one think of Friday's - a little bit of everything.

My in-laws like this place, so we've been a few times. I really appreciate the calorie count on the menu. It has saved me from several 1,800 calorie lunches. Nothing we've had has been horrible, nor memorable. Patio seating is available, but it lands you right smack in the middle of Arden Way, across from the Arden Fair Mall, so there are plentiful exhaust fumes to enjoy along with your meal.

I've been to this place a couple of times over the past years. They have a great location that's easy to find and easy to get to. It is also uniquely decorated on the inside with beautiful carpets and nice lighting. It is a huge place with a pretty bar in the center and a ton of seating.

I really wanted to like this place. But the truth is, I have never been satisfied with the food here. Nor have I ever been impressed with their customer service. As a matter of fact, the last time I was here celebrating a friend's birthday, one of our guy friend at the table ordered a beer from the bar. The older man working there made us feel super uncomfortable by constantly watching over our table. He even came over and told my friend with the beer that if one of our other friend at the table were to drink it, we'd all be kicked out.

    Wait, what? Pardon me?
Yeah, I couldn't believe how blunt and rude he was being either. The last few times I've checked, we were paid customers. And just for the record, All of us at the table are over 21 years of age. Yes, the friend that he was watching originally did try to order a beer up until he realize he didn't have his I.D. on him. And for that, the man at the bar watched us like a hawk. He didn't even care to hide the fact that he was spying on us the whole entire time. It was just a really offensive approach, and we all felt very disrespected.

Don't even get me started on our waitress for the night. You could just hear the voices in her head cussing us out when we had asked her nicely to please put a few of us on separate checks.

They may have some good drinks and even offers creme brulee, but it's not good enough for me to put up with the nasty food and even nastier customer service!

Sophisticated therefore expensive. I hardly ever spend $20 for lunch since I'm a broke college student, but this place seems to be worth it. I ordered the steak, mac and cheese appetizer, and red velvet cream cheese ice cream dessert. It was lip smackin deliciousssssssss! Ate everything, no leftovers. The menu also had a wide variety of food choices for the picky eaters out there. Good customer service as well, they came to our tables plenty to check up on us. Bathroom was clean, place seem sanitary. Another plus!

I only hesitate to come back because I'm on a budget. Other than that, LOVELY!

Whoa whoa not what It used to be lemme tell ya..

The hostess was very rushed and didnt know if there were even open booths in the bar, when I asked she said go check ? Ha hows that for customer service ?smh

Then after being seated our served greeted us, but took forever to bring our drinks. Now Im all for tipping(if you deserve) sorry but she didnt.

Drinks were priced average but arent what they used to be. All watered down now.

Food a few years ago was delicious, and happy hr was the best, now its just not. Ordered the chicken teriyaki with white rice. Skip it ,dont do it. Rice was not warm , and chicken tasted like it was just re-warmed up.That taste when you let food just chill on the skillet at high heat super crispy but not satisfying.

Ill save my 70$ next time and head across the street to Cheesecake Factory :)

I would have given this place one more star except for the Bar manager tried to punk us for a drink that a friend tried and didn't like.  WTH???  He actually came and stood over our table frowning and demanding to know what was wrong with the drink.  I guess he thought he could intimidate us.  I just kind of laughed it off like I know you can't be serious.  We'll pay for the drink but we still want something else.  So chop, chop, get over and get to making a new drink.......LOL!!!!  The other drink SUCKED BIG ONES!!!  I guess dude has seen to many mob shows and movies and was having and out of mind experience.

Once the food came, it was just over by that point.  Our server kept apologizing for the behavior of the Bar manager but I just found that the whole mood was thrown off.  I became painfully aware of how dimly lit the place was and realized how long it took them to bring some very basic entrees.   I expected more for a macaroni and cheese side dish.  A bit runny for me so it was more like macaroni and cheese soup.  I could make it better in my sleep, with one arm tied behind my back and reading a magazine with the other.  I think it must've been a bad night because even the table across from me had a small issue.  Maybe bar manager/enforcer guy had just gotten on every one's last nerve that night and they just coudn't wait to go home and get away from him.

Came here for a date on a Saturday afternoon @ 11:15.  I thought the place was closed, the parking lot was pretty empty.  Walked in and the place was empty, totally surprised....this place is usually packed beyond packed.  By the way, getting to this place sucked, the place could be at a better location.

Ordered one of the Wok specials, Szechwan Shrimp & Chicken in Spiced Garlic Sauce with some white rice....Yum Yum Yummy.  Man it was delicious, mixed well with the rice and vegetables.  The meal didnt feel heavy, and even though I pigged out in front of my new date, I didnt have that uncomfortable fat stomach feeling.  The Szechwan wasn't spicy, I thought the whole meal was really tasty.

Our waitress was very friendly and helpful for choices.  Service was great, never had any issues and I was really surprised at our total bill, roughly $23 total.  I know normally this place is too crowded and busy, but I think I found the best time to come here....11:15 on Saturday afternoon peeps....check it out for yourself.

A coupon ($7 off a $25 purchase) inspired us to try Elephant Bar for dinner after a shopping trip to the Arden Fair Mall. It was a decent meal for the price we paid with the coupon, about $20 for two sandwiches and sodas. The sandwiches weren't very flavorful, but the sweet potato fries and caesar side salad that we got with them were pretty good. No complaints about the service either.

Personally, the calorie counts on the menu took a bit away from the experience. Maybe I'm weird, but when I go out to eat, I would much rather eat in blissful ignorance of the number of calories I'm consuming. I eat healthily at home and like to make healthy choices at restaurants, but when I decide to splurge a little, it's hard to enjoy my indulgence when I know how astronomically high in calories it is.

Overall, it wasn't bad for a cheap meal, but we probably won't return since there are so many equally priced, more unique restaurants in the area.

Okay, So I give this place a 4 because I am a faaann of their Happy Hour. When I came here, I ordered the burger meal which came with fries AND was only about $5! Their margaritas was also about 3-3.50, not a bad price and it was good! I had like three margaritas when I went. I'm starting to think that they don't put much in their margaritas because I didn't even feel anything even after drinking three. They were just fruity and you could hardly taste the alcohol.

As for their burgers, it was delicious. I really enjoyed it. The service was also really good. She was really attentive and always came back to check up on us.

Overall, I give them a four for now because of their Happy Hour. I would definitely come back for Happy Hour!

I remember the first time I walked into an Elephant Bar.  I thought this place is awesome!  They have Great African safari decor and a cool bar.  Sadly over the years, their food went from somewhat good to barely ok.   I wish they invested as much on their food as they did on decor.

$8.95 calamari.  It comes with two sauces.  The bowl hides a good portion of half filled tasteless fried rice sticks and all you see is the calamari on top of the bowl. The calamari batter was thick and soft.  The calamari was also tasteless.  The server asked me how the calamari was and I told him my thoughts.

Fortunately I received good service.  The server got management approval to waive the cost of the calamari.  The manager also made a point to talk to me about it.  It was all good ....But from the moment I walked in and til I walked out I got MORE than typical good service fron a chain restaurant.  While I appreciate the good service, it definitely gave me this feeling that they were trying to make up for what they were lacking in good food.

It just makes you raise an eyebrow and wonder just how bad is business that they have to step up their efforts to provide good service?

NY steak sandwich 2-3 stars - barely ok, not the best steak cut,
                                      chewy
Sweet n sour chicken - 0 stars - I seriously could not eat it!
Sweet potato fries -3 stars, not thick cut, good.

That's saying a lot for a foodie! It had thick batter, making the chicken taste dry, like youre biting into a dry flour ball.  Sweet and sour sauce was completely uneventful.  Even the brown rice was dry. I don't think I've ever given a bad rating for rice before!  I walked out with regrets.........thinking about Panda Express.   Sad, just sad.

Two stars because they now put nutritional information on their menu.

Not worth two stars: finding a pebble in my cobb salad and doing damage to a tooth. When I complained about it, the waiter initially laughed and said, "That's because it's ORGANIC!" But when I didn't seem to think this was funny he offered to replace the salad.

    Won't be back.

Came here for a going away luncheon.
    Chain joint, blah blah blah
25 page menu blah blah blah
overpriced specialty drinks blah blah blah
I will probably be back, but not by choice.
    blah blah blah

    That's my blah

My fiance and I recently had drinks and appetizers here before catching a comedy show at the Punchline. The food & drinks at best were dismal. I know there are a lot of people that like this place and that only leads me to one conclusion, there are a lot of people out there being fed by really bads cooks.

My complaints, the top shelf margarita's were all margarita mix and gross! The Mac & Cheese was blah and topped with salad croutons. The Chicken fingers were chewy and smelled like fish.

I'll never be back and I do not recommend The Elephant Bar in Sacramento.

After we checked into our hotel (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/radisson-hotel-sacramento-sacramento-2#hrid:FU7ie2Ju0oJtgxXPTgQblA">http://www.yelp.com/biz/…</a>), it was near dinner time, and we were looking for a place to eat.

My wife had her gift cards and coupons for Elephant Bar and Grill, so our destination was already determined.

This location of EB&G is located right across the street from Arden Fair Mall, and also right across the street from the Doubletree (where were hoping stay). From the Radisson where we were staying, it was less than 5 minutes away.

We arrived around 5:30PM, and had no trouble finding a table for the 4 of us. Like all EB&G locations, this restaurant has a safari theme, with some booths decorated like tents. Dimly lit inside, with the exception of recessed lighting focused on the individual tables.

The servers were very attentive, giving us time to look over the menus, and coming back shortly after to take our orders.

    We ordered:
-Garlic Bread with Marinara Sauce: The bread was hot, with cheese oozing with each bite. The kids loved it.

-NY Steak Sandwich: My oldest wanted this. This came with a side of fries. I really can't say much about this because my daughter wanted her steak well done, which is too dry for my taste. From what I saw, though, it was a pretty nicely sized piece of meat, served opened face on garlic-buttered roll.

-Mac and Cheese: Made by Kraft, as described in their menu. Can't complain, she liked it.

-Chicken and Shrimp Jambalaya: lots of chicken breast meat, shrimp, andouille sausage, bell peppers, and onions. Pretty generous serving, not bad, but not outstanding.

-MisoYaki Fire Grilled Salmon: Came with a side wok-tossed veggies and rice. Fish was moist, and the miso-based marinade didn't overpower the fish.

We were pretty full, so decided to head out for dessert (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/mochii-yogurt-sacramento#hrid:iRiiZuPN-st32QviXYirUA">http://www.yelp.com/biz/…</a>) instead of having dessert there.

Very generous portions, like other EB&G locations. Service was attentive, with wait staff checking up on us.

Overall, it wasn't bad, but with other restaurants near Arden Fair Mall, it may not be my first choice to dine.

For a chain restaurant, the Elephant Bar does have some positives that show me they care a little more about the customer experience. Unfortunately, this is one of the most uncomfortably crowded and poorly-located branches I've been to.

Want to meet up with friends for a happy hour cocktail? Go elsewhere. This location is opposite Arden Fair Mall in a hard-to-access parking lot, and this is the last place you want to be navigating around during rush hour.

The menu here is just a hair shorter that "War and Peace." I advise showing up while you're still not very hungry because you certainly will be by the time you make your picks and get your order in. On the plus side, the meal choices are mostly quite good. I recommend the spinach and artichoke dip and a cocktail from the bar. A great combination of creature comforts! I also enjoyed the Ahi Tuna salad.
