Fasta pasta..first of all, what a cheezy name!! What does this make me think of? That my pasta is going to be made fast? Maybe that was the best part because the taste wasnt great at all. This is pesto rigatoni i ordered..i did not see the traditional green color anywhere and something made it so salty and quite oily to be honest. Never a big fan of food which lacks the right seasoning. Also, why do i get the feeling that my food was heated rather than cooked?! :o maybe i shouldnt be all that honest since it is a carryout place at the french metra market. But i think everyone is entitled to good food and anybody can cook
Review Source:Fasta Pasta is located in the Chicago French Market. Â My friend and I settled on this vendor after making a trip around the market. Â Pasta is a dish I'll get anywhere because I love it so much so why not try some at a place with "pasta" in its name? Prescient by no means, I nevertheless had the feeling as I stood in line that I'd be disappointed somehow. Â I suspect my friend felt the same way. Â But we didn't leave. Â Unfortunately, we were so wracked with indecision because of all the vendors at the CFM that leaving a line we so tepidly filed filed into to continue our search would have been simply futile. Â We were so hungry at that point that we just wanted to get our eat on. Â
At Fasta Pasta, you select the type of pasta, the sauce, and any extras (like meat) you want in your dish. Â It's then served up in what looks like a takeout box from a Chinese restaurant. Â Ah, nothing reminds me of pasta more than a Chinese takeout box. Â Anyways, I went with a version of Chicken Alfredo that had corkscrew pasta in it. Â I appreciate that the pasta isn't sitting in a warming tray all day. Â Instead, they boil it for you after you place your order. Â Nice, I wouldn't be getting mushy pasta. Â The sauce and chicken were also good but certainly not exceptional. Â
In the end, Fasta Pasta is simply overpriced. Â An order of the pasta and a 20 oz. drink came out to about $10, which would be a good price were it not for the relatively small portion that you get. Â Also, expect to pay more if you get your pasta with a premium item like shrimp. Â You may also have to spend more if you get a different sauce. Â
Fasta Pasta is a decent place, but I certainly didn't leave full and my money could have been better spent elsewhere.
